Messages Won't Send Image Files

Messages no longer allows for the transfer of images files from user-to-user. Is there anyway to restore this function?

Hi,

The page has not been updated properly (it never was when iChat was the app.)
Add all the details from the lower drop downs in the Free Text area.

  • Messages won't send images or files

For the past 2 or 3 weeks Messages will not let anyone in my office send or receive images, screenshots, or files. This is really disrupting our work because we chat each other screenshots and pdfs all day long to get quick feedback. When send an image it acts totally normal and seems like it has been sent (it doesn't say it can't be delivered or anything), but the person on the receiving end never gets it or any kind of notification about it.
The first time this happened, I just quit the program and restarted it then sent the image immediately and it went through. But now nothing will get it to send. It was working fine right after we all got Yosemite but then just randomly stopped. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

    Hi,
I have several AIM based accounts and  Google (Jabber) one plus Bonjour and some other computers to test that with.
I find that it has changed between Messages 7 (Mountain Lion) and the so called Messages 8 in Yosemite (it was also Messages 8 in Mavericks).
I get different results using different Accounts that are supposed to use the same subroutines.
In Messages 8 Yosemite I can plain Pic or File in Bonjour to iChat 4.x.x. but not iChat 5 (Snow Leopard).
I can send plain Pic and Files between all my AIM based Accounts.
I have a Buddy/contact that I have AIM, Google (Jabber) and Yahoo IDs for and Apple ID for iMessages.
We have no trouble with iMessages or AIM but Google to Google in Yosemite on both ends appears to be a problem.
I have not, recently, tried zipping a pic over Google.
In the past AIM have stopped hidden URL links as these could contain Code (of the malicious sort)
As jpegs can also be used as a corrupt delivery system  (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leap_%28computer_worm%29 delivery and Infection)
It seemed logical that ways to prevent Auto loading of such items might be to zip them so they could be checked when on the Desktop/Downloads folder.
AIM has the servers set to allow File (Pics included) as a matter of course.
Jabber servers need the protocol to be turned On and sometimes to allow Server to Server Proxy sending to help out.
It could be that Google have turned this Off (it would require much more testing than I have done to come anywhere near proving it)
I am not aware that anyone has discovered a fix as potentially it effects all four "Services" that accounts can belong to across the app.  (The Yahoo Account has never done anything beyond Text Chats).

  • I have a brand new iPad newest version. Wifi. The messaging won't send out but I receive messages from others. What is wrong?

I have the newest version of the iPad (3rd generation) with wifi. The messaging won't send out but I'm receiving messages from others when I'm using it. They also come through on my iphone at the same time. But I can't send them out on the iPad. I tried someone's suggestion of changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and that did not work to fix it. What is wrong with this thing?  Thank you in advance for your help.

Are you trying to send a message to a cell number or an email address?  iPad does MMS, not SMS, meaning it can't send a message to a number.  It can send a message to an email address........

  • How to send image file through mail without   any attachment

Plz tell  me how to send image file through mail without any attachment  ( i mean not converting  that image into pdf or any format )  i want to send that text or image  through mail .

    Hi Sandeep,
I think you can setup the type of email in Shared office Settings in transaction S016.
There is an option called <Preset document classes>
You choose this pushbutton to branch to the maintenance screen for the document classes that are directly displayed to users in the Business Workplace for selection when they use the Create function. The name under which the documents are displayed can also be maintained.

Settings -> Messages -> do you have "Send as SMS" ON?
If not, then your messaging app will be restricted solely to Apple's iMessage service, which only works between iOS devices.

My messages won't send. I have an iPhone 4 with 3G and all day my messages have just been stuck halfway on the bad that shows how far your message is until being sent. Other internet things are working perfectly and I'm at my house with wifi.

  • Messages Won't Send To Non-iPhones!

So I woke up and my messages won't send to non-iPhones but they will to other iMessage users. Then , I go to my dial pad and I can call out to non-iPhones. This freaking ***** and I need it fixed NOW or I am switching back to android.

Did you make sure that "Send as text if iMessage is not available" is activated in Settings/Messages?

  • Messages won't send files via AIM anymore

I've been using Messages via AIM and iMessage and had no problems sending files or images for years until recently. Now AIM won't send files. There's no error message and I can see the image in the conversation window but the recipient doesn't get the file/image. Also when they try to send to me, I don't get the file/image either. This problem has started just this week.
We have had our broadband upgraded and a new router installed but it's in Modem mode and hooked up to our Airport Time Capsule that runs the wifi.
I've read some posts about port changes, but not sure if this would be the case.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi,
See also AIM Screen Names using @Mac.com or @me.com IDs to end  (it is in Mountain Lion's area)
The @mac.com and @me.com name should still work as AIM valid Screen Names.
It is only in iChat up to and including the base version of iChat 6 in Lion.
The Later updated version of iChat 6 should work.
It is because during Lion Apple introduced the double Login to AIM and Apple that allows the app to confirm you can login in with the Apple ID.
Basically unless the app has logged in to Apple with the ID then the AIM server cannot see it.
To  certain extent this already was the case in AIM and iChat for @me.com ID once there was no MobileMe server.
All @me.com names that became linked to iCloud IDs  get around that by being iCloud IDs.
So... Later versions of iChat 6, Messages 7 in Mountain Lion, Messages 8 in Mavericks and the version in Yosemite (also called version 8)  all allow Logins with Apple Issued IDs to the AIM servers.
It does help that you may have "updated" the account yourself along the way - such as Linking an @mac.com to MobileMe when MobileMe came out and again for iCloud.
This may mean that actually you have an Apple ID that has @[email protected] and @icloud.com  emails and all those "IDs" works as login names with the same password.

  • Messages won't send pictures or files.

    Hello,
My Messages in Mountain Lion won't send pictures or files (using imessage). It did work for a few days but has now stopped. The strange thing is Messages beta in Lion still works perfectly. I've tried deactivating anf activating account and still no luck.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I've been with the same problem for a couple of days, until finally today Messages simply stopped showing even a the window, so absolute inability to use it.
Considering that reinstalling the operating system is NOT a solution, I searched for something myself.
Pictures are controlled by xpcd, imagent and Messages, and it seems that when the problem arises is because they're using the wrong Apple server.
While this may be solved by Apple in a update (I hope so), in the meantime you can do a workaround (it worked for me on two different machines, and even days old images appeared).
In your Library, there is a folder called Preferences (that is /Users/<your_username>/Library/Preferences). There you should delete com.apple.imagent.plist com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist and com.apple.imessage.bag.plist, with Messages CLOSED. Then reboot so Messages creates new ones. Also delete all file starting with com.apple.imagent, com.apple.imservice, com.apple.imessage and com.apple.iChat that end in .lock.
If even then it still is not working, deleting all files starting with com.apple.imagent, com.apple.imservice, com.apple.imessage and com.apple.iChat 100% for sure. But when you reboot you'll find you need to input again your login data for iMessage, FaceTime, Yahoo chat, AIM chat, Google Talk and Jabber (if you used them on Messages/iChat).
This is an annoyance, but less than a whole operating system reinstall or losing the functionality.
After all of this is done you should regain the ability to receive photos, send photos and drag&drop photos.

  • Iphone won't send image on iMessage says "delivered"

I'm suddenly having this weird issue where i can't send images through imessage. It would say "delivered" on the bottom of the image but none of my friends are able to receive it. Another thing that is acting up is my imessage on my macbook. Whenever i send a message to someone, it would deliver as my email, not my number where it used to be. I resetted a whole bunch of stuff, made sure all my settings are correct including the option where it being sent to is my phone number.
Anyone has a solution for this? this just suddenly happen a couple of days ago. The imessage sync between my phone and my mac used to work perfectly fine.
Thanks and I appreciate whoever can help.

He needs to unregister iMessage on his old iPhone if he still has it.   If not, he'll have to call Apple to have them disassociate his # with iMessage.
While that's a possible root cause, the fact that he has no issues with other iPhone users suggests that it's something else at hand.
I would check the setting I mentioned, but also try the steps pdroth mentioned if that doesn't resolve it.

  • Form message pops up "Sending Data files by Email" when it shouldn't

I have a simple PDF with a form which I've created with the form tools in Acrobat Pro 8 for sending a FDF file by email.
It works OK but when clicking on some of the other internal page links in the document (set up in InDesign) that are entirely unrelated to the form I get the following pop up box:
    Sending Data files by Email
Please note this form contains an email submit button. Clicking this button will email a data file containing data you type into the form. However, the form itself will not be sent. Remember you cannot save a completed copy of this form with Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.
    1. How do I stop this popping up. Especially on pages that are unrelated to the form.
    2. Why does it say: "Remember you cannot save a completed copy of this form with Adobe Acrobat Reader 9. " when it does seem to work OK. I can send the FDF file to an email address. But this pop up box just isn't right.
And I have another query which isn't really on topic.
    3. How do you get radio buttons to be mutually exclusive (eg: sex: male/female) - it says in the Radio Button Properties button Options tab to get them to have the same field name. But where do you set the field name?
I posted this in the Mac section as I think the Mac version of Acrobat Pro may be the route cause!

    1. How do I stop this popping up. Especially on pages that are unrelated to the form.
I do not know you can. It is a user setting, not a pdf file setting.
    2. Why does it say: "Remember you cannot save a completed copy of this form with Adobe Acrobat Reader 9. " when it does seem to work OK. I can send the FDF file to an email address. But this pop up box just isn't right.
It is correct. The user cannot save the file which is a pdf file. It is not sending you a pdf file, but as you noted a fdf file.
    3. How do you get radio buttons to be mutually exclusive (eg: sex: male/female) - it says in the Radio Button Properties button Options tab to get them to have the same field name. But where do you set the field name?
If you double-click on any field with the field tool activated, you will get the field properties box. You can set the field name and default value here. You want the field name to be the same, but the default value to be different.
