What is the other person using ?
If it is Lion and iChat 5 it could be down to the Apple Remote Desktop update (Apple Remote Desktop (ARD) is the "Engine" behind iChat's and Messages' Screen Sharing)
There was an update as a standalone for Lion around the 23rd July and about two weeks after this people started to say they were seeing only white Screens.
Some have found that changing the Display resolution on the Lion computer can help.

i noticed they said that facetime will basically be taking over video calls on the mac and that Messager will take over ichat, but i'm worried they're going to drop all the nice features they had on ichat, like being able to share screens while video chatting with someone. or being able to chat with 2 people at once on a video call.

You can start a Video chat with one Buddy and then chose Screen Share and providing you and the Buddy are using UPnP to open ports it will instantly convert to a Screen Share.
A Screen Share is only 1-1 and is technically an Audio Chat +
The Plus bit is an VNC connection alongside the Audio Chat.
This VNC connection uses a random port - hence the need to use UPnP to open the ports in the router (Or Port Mapping Protocol) in Apple Base Station.
There used to be Add-ons that allowed the Desktop as Video Feed which would have been a sort of Screen Share but none of these have been updated for Lion.
An Example is iUSBCam (ShowMacster was another - My link no longer works)
CamCamX maybe a possibility if it works in Lion (It does say it neess iUSBCam for iChat)

Messages on Macbook Pro Screen Share not working
Hi so on messages my friend is trying to share her screen with me and it is not working. When i added her it isnt letting me share my screen or ask to share hers. do we both need to have the same account type? how do i get it to work? and do i put in her email as the username? I have an aim account and she has a gmail. what is bonjour and do we need it to work?any insight is appreciated
Try Sytem Preferences -> Sharing
Enable (check) Screen Sharing on both computers. -
I want to be able to set up screen sharing with my laptop and imac desktop, but every time i open up system preferneces and go to sharing and attempt to turn on screen sharing it does not allow me to and say the messeage "screen sharing is curently being controlled by the remote management service."
What does this mean?

My iphone 4 wont let me open my text messages
MY iphone 4 just wont let me open my text messages, its just a blank screen whenever I open it and its driving me crazy. I've already turned it off, then on again and have already done a hard reset and both failed to fix the problem. Help!
Close out of the message app, then double tap the home button and completely close out of it.
Then do a rest, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up. Then check message app again. -
i just updated my iphone to ios6 and now it wont let me use my phone it says i phone was updated there are just a few more steps then im done but it wont let me get past the first screen it just goes back to the slide to update screen....
If you are absolutely positively sure that the password you are typing in is your Apple ID password, I would try once more to enter the password. Be real careful as you type and make sure that Autocorrect is not changing what you are typing.
If no luck try to proceed without entering the password. If you can get the iPad functional go into
Settings > ITunes and App Store and log in there.
If you can log into to your Apple ID there you will also need to go to
Settings > Messages > Send and Receive and enter or check the email at which you want to receive messages,
Also
Settings > FaceTime > check or enter the email address you want to be reached by FaceTime. -

My iPhone wont let me open my text messages. Everytime I click on the icon it freezes there for a minute and then aborts itself. My friend sent me a whole bunch of pictures at once and I believe that's why. I need a solution! HELP! Please.
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

HELP!!! my ipod wont let me see the screen
My iPod(5) .... Wont let me unlock, the "triple home click" doesn work and i cant see the screen because i turned on voice over and it froze turned off then turned on but the screen is still black. it also wont let me turn off voiceover.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

Next would be to restore from backup via iTunes -
I Have an Ipad 3 and it wont let me open the screen,it just comes up with 'This machine has not been backed up for so many weeks' and when you prsss ok nothing happens, its just locked out ,. Any Ideas ??
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I got my ipod for christmas this year its the 4th generation.It keeps turning the volume down by its self,when i try to turn it up it does not work. It wont let me i dont know why so i cannot play music on my ipod which defeates the reason i got it.Also when it turns the volume down its self or i on the rare occasion that the volume works and i turn it down the speaker comes up and will not go.It stays there which is making my ipod difficult to use.Its been doing this for about a week now.I used it alot and i feel lost without it haha. Does anyone know why its doing this? Or a way i can fix it? I've cheaked for updates and there is none!

it looks like that when it is locked and when its unlocked it looks like thisHave you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions

How do i fix iphone 6 when it wont let me unlock, wont connect to charger and has a blurred screen
so last night my iphone 6 was on 16% battery, charged it all night and now this morning its still 16%, turned it off then on again thinking it might fix it but all it did was make things worse.
so once it turned on, it didn't have the time, the battery changed to 3%, the screen is blurred, it wont let me log into my phone, when i plug it in the the computer it keeps disconnecting itself and wont stay connected
it is an iphone 6, 16gb, ios 8.2 or whatever the latest version is
i have tried turning it off for a while and removing the sim, i tried contacting apple but they haven't responded, i don't know what else to doBring it in to Apple for evaluation. It's still under warranty.

I have a problem! I go to my settings to change something and then i hit the home button to go home and it will not let me. So I hit the button on the top to turn it off to see if i can make it anybetter. My screen will not turn off! I tried to shut it off and it wont let me do that either. So now i am stuck in my iPod settings until my iPod dies. How do i fix this problem?
A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure. -
i couldnt update my itune as it was coming up with a warning message so i uninstalled it and now it wont let me re install it? when i hit download off apple website it goes to thank you for downloading itunes but it didnt download.
