Messaging App suggestion

First off, I absolutely love my touchpad!
one thing I wanted to bring up and suggest for the messaging app is to sign on and off across multiple accounts. I can speak for many people out there: sometimes we want the flexibility to log on one account and off another. this is not the case for the current messaging app. I have two screennames on aim, one for personal and one for work. when I am not at work, I prefer not to stay signed on afterhours and sign onto my personal one for chatting.
another thing I wanted to bring up is the status of a person on chat (away/online/mobile/offline) at least through aim from my experience. there is no indication of an online buddy who is signed on via mobile or not (blue dot). I prefer not to message people who are online via mobile unless it's an emergency, which is now the intended purpose for implementing that status. right now, regardless of online or online via mobile, the status dot indicator will show green no matter what and I find this to be very annoying.

the point is to use the built-in messaging app instead of using 3rd party apps. at the very least i would expect AOL/Yahoo/MSN/etc. create their very own app, but i don't know to what extent these other online services would go out of their way to get one going. my focus is on integrating webOS messaging as close as possible to the services that come standard on other IM clients. 3rd party apps like IM+ does not help out at all, as it does not provide a sense of integration and genuineness. i can simply go on meebo and do the same IM+ does, but neither of these options provide the user with a good experience

  • In office network messaging app suggestion

Situation: I would like to use my iPhone to send messages to other computers on my office network. It would be nice to be able to send docs as well. For example, I would like to have a template for an invoice that I could fill out on my iPhone and send to the cashier. Office computers are running Windows.
Any suggestions as far as cross platform programs and/or apps that could do this? Does AOL/AIM do network messaging, ie without having to access the internet?
    Thanks for any ideas.

In a networked world, why on earth would you want to use a "thick" app on the iPhone and another "thick" app on 1 (or more) Windows machine(s)?
Surely a web app is the way to go here, with an iPhone-friendly version of the interface? It doesn't have to be an "internet" app - in fact, in a small office, you could just run a copy of Apache on a desktop Windows machine and have everyone access that over the internal office network.
There are plenty of web-based IM-type products (open source or otherwise) that you could install to do what you want.

  • Can you suggest a group messaging app where recipients can't see all the phone numbers within the group?

Can you suggest a group messaging app where recipients can't see all the phone numbers within the group?  My friends are complaining that they can see all the people in the group; also when I get a response from some in the group, it comes to me ane many others in the goup - its like they've replied all.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry it hasn't worked out for you. I threw together a simple project that uses rectangles to represent your Bike and wheel groups. They all animate across the canvas in the bike group and the wheels rotate. I have attached screen shots so you can see how they are constructed.
This image showsthe bike group where the orange rectangle and green circle represent the frame. The white rectangles represent wheels and the green and red rectangles I threw in to represent a wheel that has multiple objects in its group as your wheels do.
Here the animation across the screen has started and notice all wheels rotating and staying with the frame.
Again a little further down the timeline.
I put this one in so you could see the group bounding box around the red and green wheel Good luck with your restart on this project and I hope these screen shots are helpful.

  • Somehow, the Message App on my MacBook Air had my iPhone and messages appearing on the screen without me even putting anything into the computer. This is a school computer, so it would be very intrusive and possibly bad if I has this. Suggestions?

Any suggestions on how to permanently delete my phone number from the app? It's very hard to navigate, so good description please.

Mountain Lion sets your Apple ID for Messages app, so you can use iMessage and you can see your messages from other iPhones, iPads and iPods touch with your Apple ID.
To disable this, open the Messages app, go to Messages menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Accounts, choose iMessage in the sidebar and turn off this account

  • My message app crashes on my ipad 2

Two days ago my message app on my ipad 2 started to crash mid message.  I tried restarting the ipad by holding down the home and power buttons.  That did not correct the problem.  This morning I updated to iOS 7.0.4.  This also did not correct the problem.  I deleted all the feeds I had going with people.  Then started a new feed with one of the people.  It still crashes.  Also, I am unable to delete specific messages in the feed like I use to be able to do.  Is there anything else I can try other than completely resetting the ipad?  Thanks!

The feature to delete specific messages stopped working today as far as I know.  I was not working before I did the iOS update today.  I did all that you suggested above.  So far the app has not crashed.  However, I still am not able to delete specific messages by tapping the message and then tapping the more tab.  In fact many times when I tap on a specific message, nothing happens.

  • Messages app won't sync on one computer

    Dear Community,
I'm having problems with the Messages App on one of my 2 Business Computers. I do use a Mac Pro at work as well as one in my home office. Both are similar, running the latest version of Mavericks and do have the Messages App configured the same way.
However while iMessages from my iPhone or iPad do sync correctly with the home office Mac, the other one simply just won't sync anything! Nothing comes in and nothing goes out... altough when I try to send an iMessage from that computer, everything seem ok, but after 5 minutes the message ist listed with a red ! symbol which says "Your message could not be sent, Try again".
    Anyone any idea?
Of course internet and iCloud is working perfectly on both computers.
    Thanks for help!

I am having the same problem.  iMessages sends and sync with my iphone 4s and ipad, but even though I'm signed in on my mac with iMessage, I can't send any mesages and they don't sync with the messages sent from my iphone.   I am signed in with my AppleID on the mac, and I get the confirmation notices on my iphone and ipad, but I can't send send or receive iMessages on the mac.
I've tried the numerous fixes suggested in other articles, such as signing in and out on all my devices (starting with the iphone first), deleting plist files, uninstalling Flash player, resetting the PRAM, repairing disk permissions, booting in safe mode, but nothing works.
I have a MacBook Pro 17" running the latest version of Mavericks with Messages version 8 (4226).
My iCloud account is a different login than my AppleID I use for the iPhone, iTunes, and Messages, but that's because it's the AppleID that is tied to my cell phone number.
    Thank you for the help.

  • How can I fix this recurring network error in the Messages App?

I use the Messages app all the time at work to chat with co-workers about jobs, etc... We have it set up using our company accounts hosted by gmail. Since upgrading to Mountain Lion we have all experienced the following issue:
At the end of the day, or when I am away from my computer for meetings, or lunch, or whatever, I log out of my user account. A lot of the time I will log back in and the messages app will act as though it is fine, but it will not actually be connected. The program makes no attempt to let me know somthing is wrong unless I try to send a message and I am prompted with "Your message could not be sent. Your account “<my account name>” is not logged in." If I go into the "Buddies" window and change the status to "Available" nothing happens, and the account bar will have the lightning bolt symbol and say "Offline" If I click on the lightning bolt an error message pops up and says, "Messages lost connection to the Jabber account "<my account name>". A Network Error Occured."
The only way to solve the problem that I have found, has been to competely re-start the computer. I have tried disabling and re-enabling the account in preferances, but it still doesn't connect.

    HI,
I have seen this with AIM Logins that use the SSL Server and not the original server that was non SSL
Since iChat 6 the server name has also changed as has the Login port (Although we were suggesting using the port 443).
The AIM SSL server "Falls Over" more frequently than the other server.
Also iChat/Messages reconnects automatically to the NON SSL server but not to the SSL one (It is a security risk)
You had to manually Log out by Untick "Enable this Account" then Log back in again.
I have not seen this happen in Jabber accounts but I don't use my computer the same way you  do.
Jabber Servers tend to either use SSL or Not and can rarely login if you change to not using SLL.
It also seems a bit strange that Disabling the account, as you phrase it, and re-enabling does not work.
For Googletalk Logins try logging out then changing the port to 443 (Googletalk allows this port as well as 5223)
Also check the Keychain (Applications/Utilities > Keychain Access)  and see if there is an issue with any Gmail or Googletalk certificate.

  • My text messaging app is not working PLEASE HELP!!!

My text messaging app is not working at all is a blank screen when I open it! Help!!!

No its a well known bug with iphones caused by their over complication of things and their complacency that their users will buy the phones on looks alone irrespective of its basic functionality.
Suggestion 1 - The most common suggested solution seems to be: iMessage needs switched off on all your devices and switched back on after a rest. I found that this did NOT work.
Suggestion 2 - Having a Wi Fi Signal seems to confuse iMessage to send an SMS as a text or as an iMessage. Turn off WiFi on your phone and manually send as text message. Slow, I lnow!!
Suggestion 3 - Move away from any wifi source ie out of range.
Suggestion 4 - Send an email, or a letter. Its more personal!!
20 Minutes later - still not sent 2 short texts.
Apple are very complacent and disdainful of their user community. Not what Id expect but this is a global corporation with the same business ethics as an Oil company or a car company. Profit not function.

  • Messages app not syncing after migrating to new computer

    Scratching head tonight...
Used the migration assistant to move my profile from my 2011 MBA to my new 2013 MBA
    Migration Assistant ran flawlessly (supposedly)
After completing the process, rebooted the new MBA and logged in without issue -- loaded the Messages App and the historical data is there, but nothing new is showing up on the computer
Messages sent are showing on my iPhone and are still showing in the old profile on the original MBA but not on the new MBA
Obviously the data migrated over since the historicals are there, but why would the sync break and how can I fix it?
Messages -> Preferences -> Accounts show the iMessage account enabled with all the appropriate addresses (phone number and icloud.com and me.com)
I tried logging out and logging back in to Messages as well as the iCloud -- no joy...
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Mike

    Hi,
I don't have a second computer that can also run  Mountain Lion so that I could test this.
In normal circumstances if you remove the Apple ID from the iMessages account on the Mac then re-add that Apple ID you get a pop up on you iPhone and iPad when you open Messages that the computer (by Name) is using the Apple ID.
The temptation with a new computer is to create an Admin account that ends up being based on your Name which in turn creates the name for the computer (See System Preferences > Sharing).
I am not sure if issues can arise if both computers end up with the same name.

  • Can not login into messages app

I have tried to login into the Messages app but continue to receive the following error messages.
"Incorrect Apple ID or password."  Any suggestions?

    Hi Jose,
Please reset the password and then try logging on.
You might want to try from a different browser and check.

  • Can the color of the message app be changed on the new iOS 7 release.

Can the new message app colors be changed?  The new format is white and quite stark.

Appartently not!  I might as well chime in and say that the choice of a white background and sharp font is not good and needs an update.  You can invert the colors and suffer the changes to everything else but it does make the iMessage better or follow the suggestions above and increase the boldl and sharpness.

  • How to "blow out" Messages.app history, etc.?

I'm trying to write a logout hook to blow out the Messages.app chat history (and other things) when the user logs out. I've tried deleting the following:
    rm -rf /Users/MyUsername/Library/Messages
    rm /Users/MyUsername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iChat.*
    rm /Users/MyUsername/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imessage*

    rm /Users/MyUsername/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iChat.*
    rm /Users/MyUsername/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.imservice.*
    rm -rf /Users/MyUsername/Library/Caches/com.apple.Messages
    rm -rf /Users/MyUsername/Library/Caches/com.apple.ichat.TranscriptRenderingService
    rm -rf /Users/MyUsername/Library/Caches/com.apple.iChat
    rm -rf /Users/MyUsername/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat
There's absolutely nothing left in the ~/Library folder with the words "iChat", "iMessage" or "Messages" left in them, yet I can't get the Messages.app to do any of the following:
    - delete/remove chat history
    - reset preferences
    - "forgot" passwords
    - remove accounts
If anyone has any suggestions in terms of what I'm missing, it'd be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
