Using Messaging Server 3.5, user authentications are being
rejected. Why?

Messaging 3.5.2 fixes the following bug. In 3.5, the host name that
is set in the client is compared to the mailHost field in the
directory. If the client config is different from the entry in
the directory, the authentication fails. In 3.5.2, the AUTH
command compares the uid of the client (which is guaranteed to be
unique) and does not compare the host name to any value in the
directory.

NS Messaging Server 4.1 USER Command Failed on get mail

NS Messenger Express (http interface) works OK for send and receive E-mail messages. Also, sending mail from any mail client works OK.
But, when try to get mail from mail client such as NS 7.1 or Outlook Express 5.5 get log in error

How to truncate user INBOX in Messaging Server 6.0

We are using JES2004Q2 messaging server 6.0
User has many messages in inbox (about 5000).
He want's, that mail administrator truncates all messages from inbox. User don't wan't to use pop or imap to delete messages one by one.
How mail administrator can delete all messages from user inbox?
Maybe it's posible to use 'mboxutil'?
How to find, where user mailbox is on the disk?
Can mail administrator delete messages directly from disk and run 'reconstruct -r', or it can be dangerous to all mail system?

The best way to accomplish this task should be to use
mboxutilIt's not advisable to manually delete messages from the message store, instead use mboxutil -d <PATTERN>where <PATTERN> is something like:
user/$USERNAME/<DIRECTORY>Marco

User Authentication Method not found?

I'm using OSX but a co-worker is running 9.2.2 and is having trouble accessing a server on the corporate Microsoft network.
I can get to the server using OSX but when she selects the server (which does show up in the Chooser list) she gets an error message saying that "the User Authentication Method could not be found" and she should check the AppleTalk folder in her extensions folder. AppleTalk folder? Check it for what?
What must we do to get access to the new server?

For OS 9 to talk to an MS server requires that the server has Client Services for Macintosh fired up and yes, sometimes also that the client Mac has a Microsoft User Authentication Module installed and configured.
Microsoft says that without the MS UAM, she should still be able to
Log on to the special Microsoft UAM Volume on the computer running Windows 2000 Server to access the MS UAM file.
If she can't get that far and there are no other symptoms, the network administrator needs adjust the security settings on the server, or reinstall Client Services for Macintosh…
Then drag the MS UAM file to your AppleShare(c) Folder in your System Folder. Instructions follow. (Users outside North America, see the "International Concerns" section later in the Release Notes before proceeding.)
To gain access to the Microsoft Authentication files on the computer running Windows 2000 Server
1. On the Macintosh Apple menu, click Chooser.
2. Double-click the AppleShare icon, and then click the AppleTalk(c) zone in which the computer running Windows 2000 Server, with Services for Macintosh, resides. (Ask your system administrator if you're not sure of the zone.)
3. From the list of file servers, select the Windows 2000 Server computer, and then click OK.
4. Click the Registered User or Guest option, as appropriate, and then click OK.
5. Click the Microsoft UAM Volume, and then click OK.
6. Close the Chooser dialog box.
To install the authentication files on the Macintosh workstation
1. On the Macintosh Desktop, double-click the Microsoft UAM Volume.
2. Locate the "MS UAM Installer" file on the Microsoft UAM Volume, then double-click it.
3. Click Continue in the installer welcome screen.
The installer will report whether the installation succeeded.
If the installation has succeeded, when Macintosh users of this workstation connect to the Windows 2000 Server computer, they will be offered Microsoft Authentication.

Where can i find the IPlanet Messaging Server API

I am trying to log a user into the IPlanet Messaging Server when the user logs into the IPlanet Portal Server. I would like to create a SSO effect between the portal server and the messaging server.

Check out the documentation for PMDF API and SIMS API. The MTA comes from PMDF. I just did a quick check and could not find out when documentation will be out regarding iMS-MTA API.
For what you want to accomplish I don't think the MTA-API is where you need to be looking. I know that ME and iDA SSO can be enabled, and I think it can be done with Portal as well, but I do not know how.

U need to follow the following steps to configure the Mailboxes for the user from NMS 4.x to ICS 5.x
Migrate the Netscape Messaging Server message store to iPlanet Messaging Server message store.
Change the primary store partition path to point at the Netscape Messaging Server 4.x message store path as follows:
Use the iPlanet Messaging Server Administration Console to change the message store configuration to point to all the Netscape Messaging Server 4.x mail store partitions (mailstore is the example given in step 5).
Remove the user subscriptions directory.
Copy the Netscape Messaging Server message store:
NMSServerRoot/mailstore/store/user/
to:
iMSServerRoot/msg-instance/store/user/
(mailstore is the example given in step 5.)
Copy the mboxlist file:
NMSServerRoot/mailstore/store/mboxlist/data.db2

Messaging Server (sharing folder) searching LDAP is not indexed, why?

There's an feature of "sharing a mail folder"
in JMS (Java Messaging Server), whereby
a user could share a folder with another user.
But when a user (uid) is entered into
the "Admission List" box, and the Add button
is pressed, it failed with some error messages
Invalid user and Admin Limit exceeded.
I've asked in the JMS forum and Shane said

The "Administrative limit exceeded" error agrees with the Notes=U and etime=12 in the LDAP access log file. The problem is that the search is not indexed and therefore taking long enough to run foul of the timelimit. You will need to consult with Directory Server experts to determine why this search is not indexed and resolve that.

You cannot and should not expect Exchange 2013 UM function for mailboxes housed in Exchange 2010. And the reverse is true as well. If you want Exchange 2013 UM to function for users, their mailboxes need to be in Exchange 2013. Exchange
2013 UM should be able to redirect calls to an Exchange 2010 UM server if it detected a call was destined for a mailbox being hosted by Exchange 2010, assuming the UM servers/roles/services are within the same UM Dial Plan.

Dreamweaver Server Bahavior, User Authentication, Logout User Problem

Hi! I want to add a 'logout user' functionality to the PHP
page using Server Behavior, User Authentication, Logout User option
in Dreamweaver CS3.
I highlight the text, Logout, then clicked on the above
mentioned option and I get an error message:

Header of message which is being rejected

I am an administrator of our Office365 email server.
I am working with one of our clients whose email service is rejecting email sent from us.
Their server's tech support people want the message header of the message being blocked. The message is NOT being bounced, but the delivery is being rejected.
Can I use the managment UI or Powershell to view the message header of that message?

Emails being rejected by Server

When trying to reply or even starting a new email, it rejects the email and places it in the outbox indicating "The recipient [email address] was rejected by the server because it doesn't allow relaying."
I have three different email POP accounts and it happens on all three. I have an Iphone 4S.
Any ideas oin what I can do to remedy?

I ended up adding the user name and password in the outgoing server settings which showed it being optional.
I did this with all three accounts and the messahes in the outbox automatically went.

Radius connection being rejected by server

From my Cisco 881 k9 router I run test aaa group radius server 10.20.1.10 username password legacy - -and I get user authentication request was rejected by server --
using windows 2008 as Radius server -- the IP address of Cisco Router is configured as client on server end -- Are the AAA parameters supposed to be set a certain way for access to an external Radius server for authentication?

I tried to send it through gmail and the acct is a POP acct
I'm not concerned about sending to the long address list. I just can't get the email and window that says "cannot send emai using the server..." to go away. The default must be "retry", because although I cannot see the choices at the bottom of the window if I hit return it trys again... and then of course comes back with the very long pop up window that I cannot see the bottom of so I can tell it to quit trying...

I am trying to add a mail user to iplanet messaging server 5.1, I am able to configure that user from my mail client (outlook) but when i send mail to that user, it returns saying unknown user. I can see that user in LDAP data base/

This could be symptomatic of the iMS 5.1 server not yet having done a full synch to its alias database of the LDAP server. This is done every 24 hours (default) at 2 or 3 am. You can synch manually by running the "imsimta dirsync -F" command.

Messages Server doesn't allow login of any user

I've tried setting up a messages server on two different networks and have yet to be able to get a running messages server. Everything feels as though it setup correctly, but when I try to connect a user to the server, it continuosly says the password is incorrect. Below are my settings.

I could fix the problem.
stop the jabber server (sudo serveradmin stop jabber)
The entry in part <local> in /Library/Server/Messages/Config/jabberd/sm.xml was like
<id>domain.local</id>
I changed it to the real local domain of the server like
<id>server.domain.lan</id>
started the server and it works now
(sudo serveradmin start jabber)
