Messaging server IP Address

Hi All ,
We are planning to change our IP Addresses Schema , so
Can I change the IP address of My Email/Ldap server , is there any thing i have to change to get this done in the messaging server ,
My Messaging server is 5.2 P2 ,LDAP5.1 .
Please advice me .

Messaging Server isn't very hard to change. The server ip is in the mappings file.
Not sure about Directory.
Admin Server has ip in it. there's a script for changing that. admin.pl

you can export a file from IR and ID and import it into QAT and then into PRD
all you need for ID is to create transport targets in SLD

Message Server Unreachable (after changing IP address at host)

Hi guys,
I changed the IP address in my server. According to note 403708, I updated the new IP address in /etc/hosts. The note also suggests me to change in /etc/services but I see no IP address for me to update.
Later when I restart my sapinstance, I see the disp+work.exe is "Running, but Message Server Unreachable". I've also updated the IP address in SM59 but I see no change.
This is what I got from dev_rfc.trc:

Yes I'm on Windows, the path that i'm refering is:

Anyway my prob is fixed now. Probably the problem is due to I did not restart the server after changing the IP. Anyway everything looks pretty fine now

JES Messaging Server 6.0 will not accept mail alternate address
I have installed the Sun ONE Messaging server 6.0 as part of an evaluation of the Java Enterprise System. This was installed along with Directory Server 5.2 and Identity Server 6.1. During the installation I created a top level organization (o=internet) knowing that I would want to create multiple email domains within it and a default domain. After the installation was complete I used the User Management Utility (/opt/SUNWcomm/bin/commadmin) to create some users within the default domain. I provided each user with a primary email address ([email protected]) and an alternate email address (mailAleternateAddress = [email protected]).
In testing the system I find that the Messaging Server will not accept messages sent to the alternate email address whether sent from the same server (via Messenger Express) or from an external server. It returns the error message: 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias.
In attempting to trouble shoot this problem I have watched the Directory Server's access log when such an email is sent. It shows a query using [email protected] even though the email message was sent to [email protected] In any event the DS finds the user, but the Messaging server rejects the message.

Any suggestions to eliminate this problem would be appreciated.

Both the primary and alternate email addresses are the same as the domain of the user.
Here is what I want to do. Email is sent to a primary email server (not this machine). Mail for some users stays on that server to be read and mail for other users is moved to a geographically separate server (the one in question) by specifying that the mail be forwarded to the specific host: [email protected] > [email protected]
On this second server I want to host two (or more) independent email domains. I do not want one of the domains to be a subdomain of the other. So during the installation I used o=internet as the root suffix and then used a different default domain (representing one of the registered internet domains). After installation I used the commadmin tool to create a second domain so now I have what looks something like this:

__o=domain2

____ou=Groups
I then created some users under domain1 and some under domain2 so one user's dn is:

Mail sent locally to user@ domain1.com gets delivered correctly, but sending to [email protected] does not.
host2.domain1.com is the fully qualified domain name of the server.

Site gives message Server not found; ;Firefox can't find the server at (site name). Address is correct, network is connected. Don't have problems with most sites. Others can access this particular site easily.

Can't open any of the National Parks Service Civil War Soldiers and Sailors Systems sites. Get the message Server not found although others are able to open it easily. Network connection is good and addresses are good.

Sync Sun Messaging Server Address Book with Mac OS X Address Book

Hello,
I am wondering whether there is a way to synchronise my address books inside Sun Message Server and on my Mac?
Does anybody know how do to this? I tried an VCF export of all my contacts from my Mac address book and imported it with the Web mailer interface Sun Java System Communications Express.
The import was done without any errors but all emails and phone data is gone so finally I got several empty contacts.
Is this a known problem? Is there a workaround or a fix available?
Does anybody know a better way for synchronization in both directions and without duplicating all records on a second import?

Messaging Server cannot send email to gmail but can send email to yahoo

I'm using Messaging server 7.0. My company's domain is {color:#ff0000}*sun-vietnam.com*{color} and the email server name is {color:#ff0000}*mail.sun-vietnam.com*{color}, this name is {color:#ff0000}*registered and resolved*{color} correctly in the DNS server of the ISP.
When using an email account form this domain, I can send email to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*yahoo.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} and the {color:#ff0000}****@yahoo.com*{color} account can receives this email immediately.
But when I try to send an email address to an email address from {color:#ff0000}*gmail.com*{color} such as {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color}, the email succesfully sent without no error notified, however the {color:#ff0000}****@gmail.com*{color} account cannot receives this email although I waited for serveral days.
If anyone know the solution to fix this problem, please help me, thanks all of you very much.

Invalid server IP address for Remote Panels under LV 8.0.1

The other messages for troubleshooting the "invalid server IP address" were very helpful with getting my EXE to operate as a remote panel. But there is still one issue that I cannot resolve that seems to be caused by the 8.0.1 upgrade.
The remote panel work perfectly using IE6 on a computer that has the LV 8.0.1 FDS or PDS installed. When I use a computer that has LV 7.1 or no LV at all, the invalid server IP address appears inside the border of where the VI should appear on the HTML page. The connection to the remote computer is correct, the HTML file is delivered by the web server in LV, but the panel part of the page returns the error.
Does the part of the HTML that loads the Run Time Engine need to be updated for 8.0.1? Will the LV 8.0 RTE work for a remote panel on an EXE compiled for LV 8.0.1?

How do I host multiple domains on a single Messaging Server?

To host multiple domains on one Messaging Server, use the
mailAlternateAddress attribute. If you want to host two domains
(customer1.com and customer2.com) on your server mail1.domain.com,
make sure that:
The various domains (in DNS) point to the installed mail server
(you must have the MX records that
points mail for customer1.com to mail1.domain.com and
customer2.com to mail1.domain.com)
That each person receiving mail at customer1.com and
customer2.com has an appropriate mailAlternateAddress
attribute describing the appropriate email address. For
instance, John Doe can have an email address (i.e. the value
of the 'mail' attribute for the John Doe LDAP entry) of
[email protected] and receive his mail on
[email protected] (the value of the mailAlternateAddress
attribute)
With Messaging Server 3.5, mailAlternateAddress can take the
form of @mail1.domain.com. If jdoe's mailAlternateAddress is
set to @mail1.domain.com, mail sent to [email protected]
will be delivered to [email protected]

Any other host name that you want to resolve to the specified virtual host. It's quite literally an alias.

i have installed messaging server but am not able to bind messaging server and calendar server together.the calendar server does not start with ./start-cal command.i am attaching the ics.conf file below.

Is there any impact chaning ip on sun messaging server?

Hi all,
I have configured and running two sun messaging servers MTA and MS.
e.g
MTA ip address - 192.168.10.1
MS ip address - 192.168.10.2
Is it possible to change ip address on these messaging servers to another ip range? Do I need to change any messaging config file after changing ip address?
Following is my messaging server version:

If you wanted to get the GOST cipher suite implemented the best place to start would be to ask on the mozilla newsgroup (mozilla.dev.tech.crypto) although as was pointed our by a Messaging Server developer, implementing the GOST suite is far from straight-forward which may explain why nobody has implemented it till now.

I recently upgraded to Messaging Server 3.5, and it is bouncing all
local mail. I checked the Users & Groups and all accounts still exist.
Try telnetting to the SMTP port on the mail server and confirming the
user's address; it may be unknown to the server. If the LDAP entries
for user accounts use the "cn" addtribute in the dn for the user, like
this:
dn: cn=jbarksdale

... then go to the Messaging Server admin pages, go to Server
Preferences, and choose the LDAP Routing Configuration. The "Search by
user ID (uid)" box is checked by default. Uncheck the box and restart
the Messaging Server, and this should solve the problem.
