Messed Up Home Button?

Is it just me and my phone or is the home button just not that responsive. What I mean is with mine, I have to push pressure, because the 1st time usually does not work. So I push it a little "more" the 2nd time around and it works.
It bugs me cause i'm unaware if its a problem or just my interpretation of how "easier" I expected the home button would be to push.

My home button became less and less responsive over the past couple of months, to the point where I had to press it 3-5 times, really pressing down, before it would work. I was willing to live with this, but I took it to an Apple store anyway (I'm lucky; I live in NYC where there are three), and the guy at the Genius Bar played around with it, compared it to his own, said "No, this isn't normal" and gave me a new phone, which works perfectly. (And people wonder why Apple has such fanatic customer loyalty...)

  • HT201263 I could not reach itunes just pushing home button.  I had to push home and wake/sleep at the same time. in recovery now, not sure if this will work and not happy with messed up ipad

not sure which operating system i am using.  whatever because it messed up my ipad.  Try to follow directions from forum about connecting to store and being in recovery mode.  I was not able to connect just using the home button,  had to use home button and sleep/wake button at the same time.  finally recovering my ipad, but very unhappy that updates messed it up.  If updates are not any good, don't put them out there.

Most likely Digitizer of Front Screen is broken or its Connector to the Logic Board has come loose. You could try a Restore with iTunes on computer. Fix is press connector back to Logic Board. Or, replace entire Front Screen Assembly. Or, take to Apple, if Genius decides it needs Out of Warranty Replacement it is $149 at the Apple Store for iPhone 4.

  • Iphone 4 does not want to turn on and home button is messed up.

My ipod home button just doesnt respond properly anymore and my head phone jack is still messed up even when i restored everything and went to factory settings so im guessing its a hardware issue and i wanted to know how to send it back for repairs please thank thank you =^.^=

Don't listen to any of them...
Just recalibrate it! I have a similar issue where I kept pressing my home button and nothing worked.
Here are some websites the tell you how to fix it!
    How to recalibrate: http://nealbo.hubpages.com/hub/Recalibrate-Unresponsive-iPhone-Home-Button
    How to fix: http://nealbo.hubpages.com/hub/Fix-a-broken-unresponsive-or-sticky-iPhone-Home-B utton
And if both suggestions don't work, go to settings, General, Acessability, and turn on assistive touch so that a little circle appears in the corner, tap it and tap home to work as your home button!

  • So i have an iPod touch 2nd generation, i want to update it but when i plug it in to any computer it just says that it is not recognized, then the home button is all jacked up and it doesnt resopnd right away and goes awire latter what can i do?

i dont know what to do, can you help me? can i download an ios off my iPod and why is my home button messed up???

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Where it says place the iPod in recovery mode use this program:
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

The Find my iPhone service option is given to you when you first set up the device. If you just reset it, you may have been given that option. So, in other words, the service may have been enabled even if you didn't realize it. You can then go to www.icloud.com and click on Find my iPhone, and have it play a sound. Or, you can use the Find my iPhone app on your mom's iPhone, but the service would still need to be turned on on your iPod.
Unlike Compukid said, Apple will not assist in locating a lost device without the Find my iPhone service.
I found that out 2 years ago, it's just that I thought Apple might have changed that.

  • Stuck on apple logo and Home button doesn't work, help please?

Well, I dropped my iPod Touch 4g by accident and since that day, the home button hasn't really been working that well. Its very hard to use since you have to press it in really hard to get it to work and sometimes it doesn't even work at all. Anways, I was skyping with my girl and I didn't notice that I had to charge the iPod and it died on me so I was like what ever its normal and started to charge it. When it turned on, it got stuck on the Apple logo and its been there for more than a day now? What can I do? I know about the Press Home + Sleep button together but the Home button doesn't work at all anymore. I tried everything really. I tried to connect it to itunes and see if I could restore it but it won't recognize it no matter where I connect it. Tried it on 3 different computers and none worked at all.  I can't take it to an Apple store since there isn't any close to where I live and I really don't have anyone to take me there. So is there any other solution to fix my problem at home? or is it messed up completely? Someone please help me

I have this same issue. But also, it isn't just that the lock/home button stops working, all buttons stop working. Even if you switch it to silent sounds are still played. I just got my iphone Thursday. Went to school the next day and pulled it out, it happened while it was locked I guess because my screen was black and I couldn't do anything! Thought it died already! This was around 12. Finally I pulled it out of my pocket again at around 3 and it showed the Apple logo and acted like it had just started back up. Which is what always happens after I get stuck playing a game or something. Help please, has happened two or three times just today.

  • Messed up home key

The home key on my new 8G iPhone is all messed up! Takes a couple of pushes for it to work.. I suppose the only solution is to go back to apple and exchange it? Anyone having problems like that?

I am having kind of the same issue as well. It seems to take two or more attempts for the home button to respond. Especially, immediately after a call has just ended. The screen stays blank so I cannot see for sure that the call ended and this prevents me from hitting the end call button if i need to, and when I try to hit the home button, it just sits there for a long time and finally gets me back to a locked screen. Sometimes, it works to hit the power button at the top of the phone and then the next time I hit the Home button it finally responds promptly to bring the screen back.

  • Iphone 4 Home Button Pressing Itself?

I think the home button on my iphone 4 may be messed up. For the past few nights while I have been asleep voice control keeps turning on and waking me up without me even touching the phone (I leave it on my desk). The first time it did this I checked the phone and apparently it had been doing it all night because my battery was almost dead... also when i tried to turn the phone off so it would stop, the App tray thing( where you close apps) kept popping up and down really fast like i was double clicking the home button... and then my phone completely crashed. So i restored it from a backup and kept getting the problem (but now it was happening while I was in class, very anoying). After that didnt work i completely reset everything on the phone (not from backup) and it is still doing it. I don't really know what it is, i thought maybe the home button was sticking but how could it register a double click (when the App tray was popping up) if it is sticking? Has anyone else had this problem?

By the time Apple recieves the device it has a turn around time of about 5-10 business days.
If you are in Canada the device will be sent to Markham, Ontario
And Apple will be replacing this device yes.
They extend the coverage by 3 months for the replacement, but that is not on top of your initial hardware coverage ( say if you had 200 days of hardware coverage left you would have 90 days for the replacement BUT it does not add another 90 days to the end of your coverage)  so in that sense it would be useless.
But yes, if you have only say 2 days left of hardware coverage when you recieve your replacement you would have 88 days left of hardware coverage for the replacement.
If you are still in hardware coverage currently you are still eligible for the AppleCare Protection plan which extends hardware (covering manufacturur defects) an extra year and giving you two years of technical phone support from the original devices date of purchase, which in Canada is 79$ +tax.

  • Has anybody else been having issues with their home button after using assistive touch for a little while?

Me and my brother have been messing with Assistive Touch on and off since iOS 5 canme out. We been noticing that when we actually move to use the home button, sometimes it doesnt respond. Though I'm all for thinking my home button my be on the fritz, it wouldnt explain how mine and my brother suddenly have issues with our home buttons at the same time. Both of us had a time where the home button didnt respond at all. and its been intermittent ever since. Anybody that has an answer or another case like this I' d like some information

    Reset Home button steps:
    (1) Tap Settings App, when it is open:
    (2) Hold Power button until "slide to power off" bar appears.
    (3) Don't slide it, release power button.
    (4) Gently, continuously press Home button for few seconds until home screen appears.
    (5) Done.
If this does not help, further points to Hardware Problem.

  • Home Button Replacement Cost?

I've tried searching for how much it costs to get the home button replaced, and by Apple, not a third party-but with no luck.
Does anyone know how much it actually costs? The phone is under warranty, but they won't do anything about it because the previous owner did something to the phone that, I'm guessing voided the warranty. The button sometimes doesn't work at all, and it's getting rediculous. I restored as new, and it works a lot better, but I just rather have it replaced so I don't have to worry as much about the issue.

I was actually at an apple store two weeks ago, and that's when I found out they will not do anything unless I pay for it. The woman who helped me said the previous owner messed with phone, which I know about because he replaced the original home button himself. Too lazy to go to the apple store I guess. My issue last time was and still is the back glass is making a clicking noise when I lightly press down on it. It comes and goes from time to time.
I just don't want a third party iPhone repair store messing with my iPhone.

  • HT1349 My home button is unresponsive, what do i do?

Havent tried very much other then clicking it a couple times. Im scared to mess with it. What do i do other then Restore it?

    Hi
If after the restore the home button is still not responsive then take it to (a) where you purchased it from and explain the problem or (b) your nearest Apple Repair Specialist/Reseller or (c) Apple Genius Bar.
If the unit is still under warranty and assuming the problem has not developed because of wilful or accidental damage, they'll repair it for you under the terms of the warranty. If the unit is out of warranty they should quote you a repair price. Make your choice thereafter.
    HTH?

  • IPhone 6 Plus: home button sticking and making clicking noise

    Hello everyone,
I bought an iPhone 6 plus 64GB Space Grey. I bought it about 2 months ago. Day by day the home button start to become noisy and sticky. Everytime I press the home button everyone in the room hear the sound very clear.
I brought it to an Apple Third Party store in my country. but the staff there seem not really care about my issue. They said unless the home button is completely broken. How could I do?
Day by day the sound become louder and louder. I really feel uncomfortable about this. And I just feel that my iPhone is going to be broken soon.
Note: my phone has official warranty from Apple.
    Any Idea? Thanks in advance.

I also have the 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus Space Grey and after two display (includes Home Button) replacments and 1 full device replacement and I end up with this issue. My home button is LOUD and CLICKY every time I press to the point it feels plasticky...I will probably go into the Apple Store and demand a perfect (or at least close to perfect) full device replacement and inspect in front of the Genius to try to pinpoint any issues. If they do not comply, I'll just call Apple Care and set up an Express or Standard Replacement.
However, I do not suggest you do that. Last time I rubbed alcohol on my iPad mini 2's home button, it messed up the software and I got a replacement.
I'll tell y'all how it goes!
