Messed up initial set-up MobileMe to iCloud
Dear all, last night (very late) I tried to migrate MobileMe to iCloud on a Window PC with Outlook 2010. I've got an old Apple id for buying Music and Apps and an existing [email protected] MobileMe acccount for syncing Outlook calendar and mail. I messed up during my first set-up on my iOS 5 devices by not using [email protected] account but using my old Apple ID.
I then migrated my calender from MobileMe to iCloud using the [email protected] account. But logging in to Windows iCloud control panel needs my old Apple ID, because of my initial wrong iOS 5 devices set-up. So now my existing calender is on iCloud.com via my [email protected] account and my calender iCloud control panel is empty, thus nothing syncs with Outlook.
Is there a way to merge? Or should I revert? Steps? Or should I contact iCloud support.
Any help would be very much appreciated! Greetings from Holland.
We are running CUP 5.3 SP7 and experience the same issue under IE6 and Windows XP. I recently received a new laptop with freshly installed software (IE6 and Windows XP) and the problem has gone away. Not to say that it won't come back but this leads me to believe it was an issue with my old laptop. Stay tuned .

I lost my iPad! I initially set up a screen lock in iCloud, only to find out that I would then not be able to find my device. I then removed my device from the list in iCloud. Now, after clicking on "find my iPhone", it does not appear in the list. How do I get it back in my list of devices? The fact that it was originally in the list, does it mean that I did activate "find my iPhone"?
you did activate find my iPhone but because you removed it from the devices list, you cant do anything further. You need the device to add it back to the list.

MobileMe to iCloud: Frustrating Mess... help!
Hello- Apple should just get out of the cloud computing space. They are awful at it (opinion). Now, on to the problem:
- I was on snow leopard and got an email from Apple saying to go ahead and transition .mac/.me mail and I'll still be able to use it on Snow Leopard. I did.
- Now I can no longer see any historical sent mail since that switch date. No matter where I look (online, or in Outlook), It's not being saved.
- When I go to iCloud, it says to go to mobile me to make the switch.
- I go to Mobileme and log in and it says to convert to iCloud (which I did), so I do it again.
- Out of pure frustation, I upgraded to Lion (awful version of OS X in my opinion, but oh well), and when I go to the iCould Control Panel, it has asks me to convert my account, but I already did.
- Now, iCloud or mobileme is sending all my email from .me when I was orginally a .mac. The problem with is that some systems are looking for .mac and I am now being dropped into spam filters of reciepients systems. Nice Apple!
So, I seem to be stuck in many many loops here... Did someone say an Infinite Loop... Yup... that's where I am.
So... How they heck to I get everything over to iCloud and use it with Outlook on my Lion based machine. I called Apple, but there is no phone support unless I buy a new computer... Nice!iCloud is free.

Mobileme to icloud - all contacts lost !
While doing the migration from my mobileme to icloud this morning, I lost all my contacts !
I did the migration online, on a Mac, on me.com website.
Is it supposed to happen ???At the top it does say All contacts, when I select that I only get my Exchange contacts. On the Groups page I have All Contacts, then Exchange and at the bottom All iCloud. If I select All icloud I only see one contact, mine?!
I do not see any list with my [email protected] My contacts were initially on MobileMe, when I got my iPhone 4 I transfered them to the phone so they were stored on both. I was synching with my me.com account and when I was on iCloud the contacts were nowhere to be found.
I just spoke to an Apple "genius", they told me I probably messed up the backup on outlook, my contacts are lost forever. Starting to wonder why I chose Mac, in this case I got done just like with Microsoft!! -
The only contacts I now have are from my Exchange account. Any help please. I tried "Import from SIM" but as all my contacts were on MobileMe, they're all gone!!
that happens for people who used icloud for everything but contacts. When they updated and went through initial
set up, signing into cloud enabled everything including cloud for contacts. Since they had zero contacts in cloud, cloud cleaned out their contacts, but synced everything else that icloud has, like calendars, reminders etc. If those contacts were never backed up anywhere - they gone. If there is back up in cloud, it needs to be restored.
Contacts sync in the cloud need to be turned off, right after restore. -

How do I set up a new iCloud account
I changed my Apple ID because I have changed my IP and my previous address is no longer active. Thanks to some kind people on here I've resolved problems with apps etc but now have a problem with iCloud. It keeps asking for my previous log in details but then doesn't recognise them. From what I've read I need to set up a new iCloud account but can't find any info on how to do it. I can only find info on initial set up on new devices. Can anyone help? I ought to point out that I'm 60 with only average IT skills and I don't find Apple products intuitive no matter what the say!

Can I get rid of one ID? How do I do that?
one on my MacBook Pro
That's not an Apple ID. That is your admin account which you can view in System Preferencs > Accounts or Users & Groups.
If I switch from MobileMe to iCloud on my Mac (under the apple logo) will my devices work and sync in iCloud. I have no idea how I go 2 IDs
Just use your current Apple ID when you setup your iCloud account that you use for your devices.

My new iPhone was mistakenly setup with a new account diferent from theone on my iPad and MAC, iTunes and Mobile Me. I finally got Lion and moved my MobileMe to iCloud. I then found out this mistake when my iPhone was not synching with my iPad and MAC. the onloy way I can see to fix this is reset the account my iPhone iCloud if set to, but see not way to do that or any instruction to do this resetting. Does anyone know how to do this?
Go to Settings>Mail, etc.>iCloud and delete the account. Then add in a new account with the details you want.

Advice on migrate from MacBook 4,1 to MacBookPro 8,1 & mobileMe to iCloud
Hi all,
I just bought a MBP 8,1 to upgrade from my MacBook 4,1 (white). I'd like to know what the best way is to migrate my files & stuff. How well does the Migration Assistant work? My main concern is with Mail, Calendar, Address Book, iPhoto, iMovie, and of course, iTunes, but the major challenge is that I have mobileMe account set up on my old MB and now I will need to migrate that to iCloud. Does the Migration Assistant take care of the migration to Migration?
By the way, I have Snow Leopard on my old MB.
Any feedback will be much appreciated!madmac88 wrote:

Use Setup Assistant when your new Mac first starts up. See Using Setup Assistant on Lion for details.

No, that's separate. I'd recommend waiting for a bit after running Setup Assistant, to be sure everything got transferred properly, and you've gotten a bit used to the differences in Lion (see Changes in Lion from Snow Leopard.)
Once you're comfy with that, when you go to System Preferences, you'll see a new icon for iCloud:
Both the iCloud and MobileMe windows have buttons to convert MobileMe to iCloud. -

Does that mean though that I have to change to the Lion, despite its shortcomings, in order for iCloud to work and not lose the current beneifts of synchronisation I have with Mobileme
Basically, yes.
You can migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud at http://me.com/move even with Snow Leopard - when asked to confirm that you have Lion on your Mac, just lie and say 'yes'.
If you have MobileMe mail set up to collect mail from external POP accounts you should cancel this before migrating, or you may find it still working in iCloud (where it isn't supposed to) and with no way of stopping it. You may find the MobileMe email settings will continue to work for a time after migrating but it will stop eventually so you should not rely on this. You should delete your MobileMe email account from Mail.
You can then set up Mail manually in Snow Leopard to access iCloud email; it's a slight fudge because the 'wizard' will attempt to connect you to MobileMe as soon as you enter an @me.com address. The process, which includes a workaround for this, is described here:
http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/icloudmail.html
You may be able to sync your calendars to iCloud by means of an unsupported hack, but you cannot sync Contacts or Bookmarks and iCloud's other facilities will not work. This page outlines the situation when you migrate to iCloud, including a link to the calendar hack:

To get the full functions of iCloud you need Lion 10.7.2 -

I purchased iLife for my 10.6.3 Mac, and it says it won't load without a MobileMe account.
Where did you purchase it? There shouldn't be any requirement for MobileMe. You would be best off asking about this in one of the iLife forums - I should try this one:
https://discussions.apple.com/community/ilife/iphoto
Make sure to tell them your Mac's system, and what version of iLife it is and whether it's a boxed set. -
I have an 8 year old G5 / OS X 10.4.11, what kind of problems will I have now switching from Mobileme to iCloud?
You can migrate to iCloud, but the only thing you will be able to do is access email, and you will have toi set Mail up manually to do this:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger
This is worth doing to maintain your email address, but you won't be able to sync calendars, contacts or bookmarks. Your calendars and contacts will be removed from MobileMe (though not from your Mac) and won't appear on the iCloud website. -
