Messed up iTunes audio

One day i went to listen to music on iTunes and its all messed up, but it sounds fine in Windows Media Player. It sounds the same for every song in iTunes. It also sounds fine on my iPod.
Heres a sample of the messed up audio: http://media.putfile.com/messed-up-iTunes-audio
Ive uninstalled/re-installed iTunes, Ive closed all other programs that could mess with iTunes and no luck
Anyone know what happened? Thx

ahhh ... the Total Recorder thing ... i'll go for weeks without seeing one of those problems reported, and then suddenly there'll be three reports in two days. i wonder who'll be next?
i don't know of another recording program off the top of my head ... anyone else please feel free to leap in with suggestions.

  • ITunes audio not working..

Hi there. I just updated iTunes and now there is no audio what so ever coming from it. I can hear audio from the rest of the programs on my computer, except iTunes. Is ther any way to fix this?

I just fixed this. Been messing around forever trying to make this work and right after I posted my question I figureed it out.
My problem is that I have iTunes in my Startup folder so it automatically runs on login. If I close and reopen itunes audio starts to work!
    Must be some startup dependency/order.

  • ITunes audio lag

I recently bought a new computer (less than a month and a half ago), running Windows 8, and installed the latest version of iTunes and Quicktime (iTunes 11.1 and Quicktime 7.7).  My computer is hooked up to a small HD TV monitor using an HDMI cable.  I bought an HD movie throught the iTunes store yesterday, and played it through iTunes.  However, the audio and video will quickly become out of sync, usually within about 15 seconds.  I have updated my NVIDIA disply driver and also my audio driver (IDT audio driver), to no avail.  I have also made sure that my computer audio playback is set at 16 bit/44.100 hz, and that iTunes audio playback is also set at 16 bit/44.100 hz.  No of this has helped.  I will play the video, and within 10-15 seconds the audio is lagging horribly behind the video.
I have also tried to play the movie in Quicktime by clicking on the movie in iTunes, showing the movie in windows explorer, and then clicking open with Quicktime.  However, when Quicktime opens, it just sits on a grey screen.  I click play, and the timer for the movie starts, but the screen just stays grey the whole time.  My Quicktime audio playback is also set at 16 bit/44.100 hz, for what its worth.
I have literally spent an entire day trying to look up a solution for this problem, and have found absolutely nothing that has helped.  If ANYONE has an idea of what I can do to alleviate this problem, please let me know.  I am at a total loss to figure this out.  I am somewhat familiar with computers, enough to run through some basic fixes, but I am by no means a computer whiz.  I have also contacted Apple about this problem, and got back the typical response of "update my drivers etc etc etc."  It seems like nothing on the Apple website has instructions for possible remedies to this for Windows 8, so as I said I am at a total loss.  ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!!

demand a refund, I had this same problem 6 months ago...gave them another shot recently and apple still hasn't fixed the problem

It then asked if I wanted to sync to this [Something] I said yes. IT wiped all the stuff off my IPod then gave the following message:
The [title] was not copied to the iPod [name] becuse you are not authorized for it on this computer.
How can I get this to work?
It considered the computer pretty acceptable when it took my money for the title. I think I have been ripped off.
THis whole SYNC is an innecessay step. Why can't I just download stuff to my iPod (from any sourch by the way) and delete it from my iPod when I don't want it any more.

    Hello LeaMinovitch,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes Store: Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
To authorize a computer, follow these steps:
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You may need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
If your Apple ID uses an expired MobileMe account, you can still authorize your computer.
In some cases, iTunes may ask you to authorize the computer again. iTunes should use the same authorization as before if the computer is in your list of authorized computers.
Learn what to do if iTunes repeatedly asks you to authorize when you try to play your content.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Is it possible to play iTunes audio out through USB to receiver to power speakers?

I thought you should be able to.Play iTunes audio out through USB to a receiver equipt with USB mode as I can with my iPad Air, but I can,t find in preferences on my 2013 iMac any out put and I get no signal to the receiver/amp. Is it possible? What am I doing wrong?

    Yes
A 3.5mm to RCA cable or adapter will work fine for stereo between the Mac's headphone jack and receiver's RCA input.
    for example's

Additionally if your receiver is equipted with digital input, you could use a Toslink cable with a 3.5mm adapter on the Mac end.

  • HT201306 i downloaded an itunes audio book and now can't find it anywhere...where did it go?

I downloaded an itunes audio book and now can't find it anywhere...not in iTunes, not in iBooks...where did it go?

I had similar troubles on my iPhone 5 (iOS 7) with some audiobooks. Tried redownloading, reported problems, etc.  nothing worked. Even more confusing, I could 'see' it in the On This IPhone in iTunes, but couldn't even see the audiobooks button in iTunes (on the phone).
I ended up searching for it by name, from my iPhone home screen (by swiping down, it may be called spotlight?), and where it reads 'Search this iPhone', I just started typing the name of the book, and there it was.
Not the most elegant solution, but so far all three of the books that I've bought are there.

You would call Apple Support, for which you would probably be charged for the support.
Note that just because those CDs work with your old computer doesn't mean that it's still not an issue with those CDs and the burner in your newer system. Some CD brands just don't work well with some optical drives. If you haven't tried a different brand, and if you're using CD-RW trying CD-R, I would suggest you give that a try just to eliminate that possibility.

  • Make system volume control itunes audio?

I have a keyboard with audio controls, but they control the system volume, anyway i can make the system volume control itunes audio? i wanna do this becasue i have it airplaying music to an airport express (1st gen).  it would make it MUCH easier to control things

Does the sony minisystem have its own volume control?
If so, it sounds to me like your computer is getting stuck thinking that the minisystem is still connected, which would be the cause of your issues. There is a switch inside the headphone jack that gets flipped when headphones are connected, and that switch might be getting stuck in the "on" position. You may have to take the computer in for service in order to get that straightened out.

  • Changing the iTunes audio output device

Question: Is there a way to assign sound output device for iTunes 9 that's different than the default audio device?
I use Windows 7 64bit. I have USB headphones and speaker outputs on my system. Both are detected and both can be assigned to be the working default sound choice. I prefer all sounds from all apps on my computer to go thru my headphones (my default audio device), EXCEPT iTunes, which I want to go thru my speakers so that everyone in the room can hear music.
The only way I can make a iTunes work through the speakers while the headset is assigned the default role is to go into sound management, then assign the speakers to default and then restart iTunes. This is super annoying.
Desired: I would like to adjust the sound output device from within iTunes, or else find a mixer application that allows me to assign outputs for each application individually.
Hardware: i7 920 cpu, asus p6t motherboard, 6GB Ram, GTX 285 graphics, creative SB x-fi soundcard. Drivers auto discovered on install and appear to be functional.
    Thank you.

Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded the trial, but unfortunately the demo they provide doesn't match with what I downloaded... I can't figure out how to make it work. I select the apps, but then there's no "apply settings" button. Hmm...
I'll mess with it more... but yes, this is the idea of what I need. I'd happy pay for it even.

  • Library all messed up (itunes match?)

    Hello,
My library seems to have been totally re(dis)organised by itunes match. Albums have been split into several albums - often by artist. Audio books seem to be in pieces all over the place and never in order. I have no idea where to start. It's across all my devices. Can anyone offer help- I can't find a thread that seems to be quite the same on here. and cant help thinking it's something simple. Many thanks.

This also happened to me earlier this month. I wasn't quite sure how or what happened as I was doing a lot of updating all at once between my PC and my macbook, but essentially my library became entirely screwed on both computers when all was said and done. I tried to just redownload everything from the cloud, and it was all completely wrong. The audio files were still there, but they were all labeled incorrectly. After a few hours in the store and then on the phone I gave up since they couldn't fix it in the store and couldn't even comprehend what I was saying on the phone. Luckily it was only my oldest music that was messed up (ironically all the music I physically owned on CD), so I pulled an older backup and manually reloaded the newer stuff and got everything back the way it should be.
Since I actually wanted to use match for my macbook and iphone I decided to make a new backup and then give match another shot. Aaaaaaaand it completely rewrote my entire library again. 2901 of ~15000 songs were aimlessly relabled as different songs and thrown into different folders. So now I'm restoring it from backup yet again and trying my hardest to purge any possible connection with this awful service. Side note: I used match for a year when it first came out and it worked fairly well.
Just to complete the experience, I was told that I could just use the "report a problem" button to get a refund. That of course doesn't work, it only appears to work for actual content purchases. It gave me an error when I tried it on my match purchase and I just had to spend 30 minutes on the phone (and apple tries really hard to prevent you from actually talking to a person) to get a refund/cancel my subscription.
Been using a mac and itunes since 2004 and this has me seriously considering moving away from apple.

  • Changing iTunes Audio Device

After much searching and trying many things, I have figured out a way to change the audio device in iTunes.
    1. Hijack iTunes with Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack Pro
    2. Under "Effects" add a 4FX Audio Device Output effect, set it to the output you want iTunes to use
    3. Add a 4FX Gain effect to the right of it, set it to -∞ (all the way left)

Thanks for the tip. I've downloaded the trial, but unfortunately the demo they provide doesn't match with what I downloaded... I can't figure out how to make it work. I select the apps, but then there's no "apply settings" button. Hmm...

  • ITunes audio quickly begins to lag behind during video playback and only gets worse as playing continues.

I've tried updating my graphics drivers, fiddling with Quicktime, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc. iTunes and my drivers are all as up-to-date as possible. Videos on my computer play in other players without any audio/visual synch problem, but all of the videos I bought in the iTunes store have this problem. When I pause a movie, the synch will be restored for a minute when I unpause it, but it has no lasting effect. This problem has essentially made all my movies unplayable, since DRM makes it impossible for me to use other programs - and oddly enough, the problem has only been happening in the last six months or so. Please, help if you can!

I guess not.  That makes sense now.  I was importing too quick for the longer clips.  The shorter clips don't cause any trouble because they conform so fast.  This article showed me how to fix the problem and allow the audio to conform properly: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WSF08BCDDB-FCD7-40a2-8290-8872EE725E6B.ht ml#WSa41b87baf39dd9b0-4a7aee25125bce32690-8000.

  • When I play a movie through iTunes, audio has no issues but video stutters and skips

    Hey everyone,
    I have a Dell 17R, Windows 8 64 bit, intel i7-3630QM at 2.4 GHZ, 8gb ram, Nvidia GT-650M at 1920x1080 using driver 320.49
When I play a movie in iTunes, the audio works flawlessly but the video will be smooth for a few seconds, stutter and then skip small 2-3 second spots. I haven't noticed that the parts skipped are any more graphically intense than other spots and there is no discernable pattern.
In the past, I have been able to play movies through iTunes with absolutely no problem but when I downloaded this most recent one a few days ago all of my movies have been experiencing the same issue.
When I stream other videos from other sources I do not experience the same problems as I do when I use iTunes. Streaming 1080P over youtube or a similar services is no issue.
I have updated my video drivers to the latest version as well.
I am at a loss, any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • I have the most messed up iTunes/Mac ever at the moment.

Hello. This is going to take a while to explain, but thank you in advance if you are brace enough to tackle this problem.
    This is how it started..
I had an itunes library already and it was perfectly sorted etc. I don't know what was going on behind the scenes in terms of music folders etc, but in itunes it looked great. Then I took some music off my friends mac. Basically I wasn't thinking at the time so I should dragged and dropped whatever I wanted into myhardrive without creating a folder or anything (Like i said i wasn't thinking). Then when it came to putting the new (1000 songs approx) onto my laptop I stupidly just command + A'd my entire harddrive and copy and pasted it into itunes. So needless to say everything in my harddrive, like my past back ups of my mac etc, went into my itunes. It took hours to transfer over by which time i was starting to realise my mistake and sobbed whilst leaving it on over night to finish transferring.
Anyway thats the first catalyst in the construction of this mess..The plot, unfortunately, thickens.
My itunes obviously had ALOT of duplicates and through running a little experiment with a song i didnt care about losing i noticed that if you 'display duplicates' and delete all the duplicates this doesnt leave ANY copies of the song in itunes, which is beyond annoying and almost makes the feature redundant, for my needs anyway. I also had all the random mac 'sounds' and random things that shouldnt have been in itunes due to me copying EVERYTHING from my harddrive into poor itunes.
So I recruited some help from a friend. This was his plan: Delete everything in itunes, go back on time machine and back up itunes from there so i was back to the position i was in before transferring everything from the harddrive and then going back into my harddrive and importing the music in a more organised, less hasty manner. So he backed up my itunes as it was just incase something went wrong. This took a good half hour and he named the folder 'new old itunes'. Then he deleted the contents of itunes and went backin itunes to my last back up and restored itunes. However this is where things start to go more wrong. There was lots of stuff missing, as if the back up hadnt worked. Like the albums would be incomplete etc. So we went into the folder mentioned above 'new old itunes' and in there too there was music missing. If you clicked on an album it would be empty or only have 3 tracks when there should be like 15 or whatever.
Anyway he had to go, so i started doing some investigating and the music is still on my mac, just in random folders. so one particular song for instance wouldnt be in my itunes, wouldnt be in the back up, wouldnt be in the 'old new itunes' but if i searched for the track name in finder i would find it in other folders.
I know im getting a bit sketchy on the finer details but im not 100% what my friend did, this isnt his fault just itunes and mac acting funky but its even worse now. Anyway I seem to have multiple copies of lots of music. The music from the import that messed everything up is still on my mac in random places and needless to say, due to all these duplicates all over the place, my mac is full to the brim so i need to delete stuff but am unsure of what is safe to delete!
There is probably stuff i have missed out that if you suggest something to me i might reply saying that i have tried that and explain why it didnt work, please dont think im being rude. I've spent many hours trying to sort this and i think i have probably inadvertently messed it up more! I have delete the folder mentioned above, but it is still in my trash so could get it again, but as mentioned it is incomplete anyway.
If someone has any clue how to solve this i would be very very grateful, im so sad about it. I like having my itunes all nice!
Basically i want all the music, pre-mess up and all the new music on my harddrive to be in my itunes all nice and stuff.
Many thanks in advance and I'm sorry that its a long one and ive been lacking in grammar and punctuation alot.

Well, indeed that does not sound like a fun situation to be in. But, it is VERY good you are using Time Machine.
Let me explain, that there are two options when it comes to storing files in iTunes. When you import files, it will either leave the file in its original location on the hard drive and iTunes will know its location, or it will copy the file and store it in Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Artist_Name/Album_Name/, IF you have the option enabled titled "Keep iTunes Media folder organized."
I imagine you have it set to copy everything into the iTunes Media folder, which explains why your hard drive is filling up. Otherwise no extra space would have been taken up.
    Therefore, my recommendation is this:
Quit iTunes first. Then navigate to ~/Music in Finder, then Enter Time Machine. Restore the ENTIRE iTunes folder in that location from a previous backup that occurred BEFORE this whole thing happened. Depending on how much space you have left on your hard drive, it may be wise to first delete the entire current iTunes folder. The restore could take a long time, depending on how much data you have in iTunes.
This will guarantee you get back to a previous library, exactly as it was at that date and time. Yes, it may be a bit overkill but it is by far the simplest solution. Hope that works!

  • I have a mess with itunes. Can't buy music online anymore as it tells me they don't have it avail. in US or I'm not authorized! Help!

I used to purchase music from itunes, no problem. Then I downloaded an "upgraded version of itunes" and it's been a mess since.  I can't buy
anything from my computer as it tells me the song isn't available in the US or that I can't get into the itunes store.  I bought music on my iphone from
itunes and then transferred them to my music library on computer.  I forgot how I did it and now newly purchased songs languish on my iphone (I don't listen to music on that).  I'd like to get back to purchasing music from my computer, so much easier, but I can't get a program from itunes that will let me do that.  For now though I'd like to transfer music from iphone to computer...what do I use and where do I plug it in on my tower?  Please give me step by step.  Thanks!
