Messed up my template

I made the mistake of replacing my template with my
home.html, and now whenever I try to create a new file from the
template, the message is that the template is "nested within itself
(directly or indirectly)"!
How do I restore my original template? I'm afraid I can't
redo my entire website because I've already constructed tens of
pages! And I have a deadline to meet that has already passed...plus
I'm in Asia right now and the telephone support is only M-F 9-5,
and it's already a Saturday! :brokenheart;

Upgrading to Pages 5 messed up my templates.

Not only are some fields missing on new documents, but when opening an old file created with the previous version, the information populating those fields are no where to be found!!!
I am a physican, and since the fields I'm missing are patient name and visit date, it renders all files I've created in the last 3 years unusable.
What can I do to fix this?

Making the "white" template look like the "darkroom" template

my current podcast page is built from the "white" template, but I am re-designing the rest of the site from the "darkroom" template. i do not want to change the template of my podcast page because i don't want to mess with the template on each individual podcast page (there are lots and i like them how they are), but i want the primary podcast page to look as much like the "darkroom" template as possible. is there a way to add the textured background and color of the "darkroom" template to the "white" template so that it blends reasonably well? any other tricks that might help?

You can go to your website and open the Activity window (CommandOptionA) for one of the pages. In that Activity window search for files with "bg" in the file name and double click on it. If that's the textured file drag it to the desktop. You can then use it as the browser background image while the content background is set to none or transparent. That might do what you want.
You won't be able to get the spotlight effect as that's a separate file used by the theme.

How do I turn the page color white in the Classic Text template?

I have a book set up in the format of the Classic Text template in iBooks Author. The pages are light beige in color and I want a white background for each page. How can I get rid of the beige color background on the pages?

Its usually OK to have objects unlocked, but it can have unexpected results!   If all objects are unlocked, and when wanting to delete one - any object selected accidentally - will be deleted also... and if its a text box that was not on view coz you had an image being moved... you may not notice till it to plate to undo it back in place.
Now that you know how to remove that background image, dont forget   you can also leave it make it white or any colour or no fill and lock it again. Its also possible to drop an image into it to use as a background.
The real secret of messing about with template, is the lock / unlock followed by the abililty in ARRANGE to move object above or below each other in the stack.
Each image or text box you open crates its own layer. Imagine a layer as a sheet of glass if you have a different image on each... when you look you see them all - but if one image overlaps and blanks out another, you can shift it up or down to make everything OK,   thats layers!
In the template, if you add or change anything you need to check one thing...Open the Inspector, second icon from the left " Layout and Numbering" select Layout - at the bottom is "Layout Object"   if you do not tick that box,   whatever you changed in the template cannot be edited - conversely, if you dont want to move it or open it again... ignore this check box.
Creating your own templates with colours and placeholders for text and images is really quite easy... it just seems difficult.. Kids face the same conundrum when they try to learn how to ride a bike!

I need help fixing my Dreamweaver template.

I created a template for the website I am creating and it does not seem to be working correctly. First, when I update my template it is not updating all of my pages that are linked to the template. Second, when I try to create a new page from the template it looks normal in the design view, but when I look at it in the Live View it looks as if the CSS code is missing. I am very new to this so it is likely that I somehow messed up the template myself. Can someone please help me?

What does this mean?
You may have some path problems in your Template. My advice is to create a new HTML test page in the root level (same level as index.html).
Link the newly created HTML page to your external CSS file. See link below if you don't know how to do this.

Note the path to your CSS file in Code View.
Now save this newly created page as a TEMPLATE (test.dwt). DW will put it inside your TEMPLATES folder.
Examine the code again. Does this current file path to CSS look the same as your original template code?
If not, your original template is messed up. You will need to repair the path code manually or build a new Template - whichever is easier.

DW8 Template/Form problems

Hi
I have a problem I need help with. I've attached the code
from my DW8 template. I insert this small 'html' form and it messes
up my template view. The form is for viewers to subscribe to our
newsletter. Please have a look and try and see where I need to make
my corrections.
ps: when I upload the page/website everything is fine, its
just the view in DW design--it's almost like when I put the form in
the table, the entire table collapses.
please be explicit with directions--I'm not a professional
web designer.

the nested tables aren't easy to sight read in a few minutes.
What i think is the problem-
One- should have <form> and </form> around the
JumpMenu select list.
Two- the other form, it is across several table cells.
Instead of the opening form tag being in the first TD with a
form field in
it, the form tag should open before the <table> tag
that contains the form
fields, and close after </table>
In short- the tags are nested wrong.

How to create the Copy icon in the change Purchase order functionality

Hi,
In the shopping cart creation screen, there has a option to copy one Item in the Items in Shopping Cart section.This functionality is supplied by standard SAP.
Now I will have to build the same logic ( Copy Icon with the copy and paste logic) in the Cahnge Purchase Order functionality.
So anybody told me how this can happen?
Also want to know the BADI or some Function Module name from where standard SAP did the same thing ?

Hi. You could add a new button by amending the template, then use the BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI to copy the item when it is pressed.
Just copy all the details for the line to be copied in the BADI. I think you will have to generate new GUIDs for the new lines using function GUID_CREATE. All the other GUIDs, header, partner etc could be copied from what was already there.
Alternatively, still using BBP_DOC_CHANGE_BADI, you could add a new custom field, see note 672960, called "Copy Item" and the user could enter an X or something in there to indicate they want to copy.
Or how about a number of copies, they could enter 1 for 1 copy, 10 for 10 and so on?
When the user presses check the BADI runs and you copy the lines.
It would not be as neat to look at as the copy button, but it would actually give more functionality and would mean you would not have to mess around with templates.

Making a Card in PSE9

I have attempted to create a card with PSE9 and HP 7700.The application prints all of the artwork and photo on the page and as I am not an Origami expert I am unable to fold it to create a card.What am I doing wrong?

If you're using the Kodak templates in Create, you can print them, but it's not easy. Are you using windows or a Mac?
Generally speaking, unless you have pre-scored cards from one of the stationery companies like Avery, it's probably simplest to do it as a four fold card, which will entail turning off the Center Image checkbox and moving the blue print outline to the upper left quadrant of the page.
However, I honestly would start from scratch in the editor without messing with those templates if I wanted to print at home. It's much easier, and the content panel gives you access to all the doodads you'd have in Create, anyway. And if I had Avery or Fellowes ow whatever brand of cardstock, I'd use their templates from their websites in the editor instead of the Create templates, too.

Hello Chris,
Wondering if you've found a solution for this.
I was thinking you could make a web app that used the jQuery dialog, then let the client just put an individual web app item on the home page when they want to have the pop up.
This way it is more like one type of modal window and the client can show whatever they want when they want, and turn it off by removing the module.
You can place the module inside a content holder so they do not mess up any template or page content.

Updating links

I recently upgraded from MX2004 to DWvr 8, which seems to
have caused a problem when I select "upgrade links" after I open a
custom template and save it as an other-named file in a different
folder where it will live. The result looks like it can't find the
template folder or perhaps the css, but all the templates and
related files are in the same folder I have been using for 3 yrs. I
checked the code against an older MX file, and it's the same.
Thinking I may have somehow messed up my template, I copied my
back-up template into the folder and got the same result. I checked
the preferences, and the update links looked fine there. I checked
both "always" and "none" and got the same result. I am a neophyte
using DWvr but until now haven't encountered an issue that I
haven't been able to troubleshoot. My DWvr "guy" left to finish his
degree. Oh, lucky me! Any pearls of wisdom anyone can share?

That makes no sense and may be the cause of your problems. Is
the renamed
file still a Template file (xxx.dwt)? If so it MUST reside in
the Templates
folder, nowhere else. If it's not a Template than renaming a
Template to
produce it makes no sense.
Probably best if you state your steps with greater
specificity (i.e. include
filenames (before 7 after) and folder names)

BI 7.0 Web PDF Generation

Hi folks,
I do have a severe problem with PDF generation and it looks like a common issue.
I integrated Button to convert my Management Webreport to PDF, no big issue so far.
But the generated PDF is not bevaing like expected. We do have a BI report that contains 3 charts horizontally alligned by a table to fit the screen and 1 table below
those charts.
This report fits perfectly on one page landscape.
When generating PDF locally (PDF generator installed on client PC) Internetexplorer ==>PDF works as expected.
When using the Button in Webtemplate to use the BI functionality to export to PDF the PDF is a mess.
All template items are displayed in sequence taht means instead of 3 horizontal charts I see 3 charts and 1 table underneath each other.
It looks like the old fashioned 3.x print function.
My question:
Is there a way to influence the PDF generation. Maybe a class ( like former 3.x Table Interface) to modify to render the PDF like the template appearance?
We cannot install PDF clients locally nor can we ship management those reports coming from BI. Report designer is no alternative because of missing functionality.

currently when using the container item and referring by command wizard ( export to PDF) the system is not generating any item.
Error Message 'file has no page and can't be opened...' occurs.
I think this is a really urgent Development issue because I think printing via PDF is getting more and more important since not everyone is using IE7 ( which is not fully supported by SAP either) to scale pages for printing.

It will then be available from the Templates window you get when Pages opens, from where it will open as an 'Untitled' file which you can save in the normal way without risking messing up the template. Or you can just save it anywhere as a Template and then double-clicking it will have the same effect.

You actually need to mess with two templates - the region one and a new button one.
Firstly, update the report's region template to include the following at the top of the "Template" setting:

</script>Note that this must be done on the report's template even if you put your button into another region as we need the report's REGION_ID value
Now create a new Button template called, say, "Export Button". The "Template" setting for this should be:
<a href="javascript:void(0)" class="t12Button" onclick="doExport();">Export</a>This was based on a standard "Button" button template. If you use another style of button, adjust it accordingly - you need the same href and onclick attributes as shown above, but anything else can be left unchanged.
Finally, on the page's HTML Header setting, add in:

Reset manager password back to "manager'

I've made extensive modifications to a training database and changed the password of MANAGER so no one can mess with my template. But I want to change the password of the MANAGER account back to "manager" for training purposes.
And darn it, it won't let me. Error 10003509-5, Username must be different from password.
Does anyone know how to reset the MANAGER account back to password "manager?"

Uhn, yeah, actually that would cause the exact same message. You're not allowed to use the username as a part of the password.
What I'm trying to do is restore the manager password to "manager" so the users can just click "ok" like they would when the start to set up their own systems. Only the username "manager" and password "manager" provides that capability.
