Messed Up Nano

This one is a long one. First of all I was listening to my Ipod at work. I turned it off for about 30 seconds and when I turned it back on, the bottom half of the screen and a bit of the screen on the left is white/very fuzzy. It still played music but it was annoying so I reset my Ipod, and got nothing. I finally caved in to restore it, and now to top it all off after it erased everything, I waited for it to pop up in my Itunes. It still hasn't. All it does is continually reset itself, and now I have no music and no way to put music on and my screen is messed up. I have a first gen Nano, Windows XP, latest Itunes, updated Ipod software and its about 2.5 years old. Please Help!

Hi, I have sort of what you would call a similar problem. Well, not that similar. But, I'm too stupid to figure out how to post questions, so without an answer for yours and running the risk of you getting mad, I have a question for you.
It started a few days ago when my ipod wouldn't reset itself. It doesn't show up on the screen and it doesn't update. I tried a few different connecting USB ports, but it does the same thing... nothing. I tried every single thing that this site has told me and still nothing.
I know you probably won't read this because it doesn't answer your question, but the least you could do is tell me how to post questions!

  • I need to backup all the music on my nano - my library is a mess with all my kids music

I am sending in my 1st generation ipod nano for battery replacement. I need to back up all the music on my nano. My library is a huge mess with all of my kids music.  How do I just get everything on my nano in a playlist without getting mixed in the library mess?

You will need to use a third-party program, you computer's iTunes can only copy iTunes purchases back (File > Transfer Purchases, File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iTunes 11). There are a number of programs listed half-way down this page which you could try : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Album art on nano messed up

hey my friends iPod nano sometimes shows the wrong album art on the iPod...for example she will be playing a Linkin Park song, and the album art will be something else (e.g. one time it showed Dane Cook instead) and i was jus wondering wha's wrong.... imean the album art is correct on itunes, but usually the same songs show messed up album art, and it is never a full album, it is usually one or two songs off of an album, while the rest of that album is correct......
thanks ahead of time for any help

Restore the iPod and reload the songs from iTunes.
See: How to restore the iPod to factory settings.

  • Nano + iTunes 7 = Messed up Album Art

when I updated to itunes 7 my album art now is messed up. About one of five of every piece of album art is just a bunch of random colored pixels.
Anyone else experiencing bugs like this?
I am running the latest version of the updater. It also occurs when I use the previous version of updater (which I've had to do to get my audio books to function without hangs (another bug).
I'm hoping these get addressed in the next versions of iTunes and the updater. I love my nano, esp when it is functioning smoothly.

Is the artwork messed up in iTunes, on your iPod, or both?
Also, the iPod Updater doesn't really exist anymore. The iPod Updater is built into iTunes. So, when you connect your iPod up to your computer, update its software through iTunes.

  • I had my Ipod nano 7Gen factory restored. Nano touch is working smooth without any song init but after i have any of the songs shifted from itune touch buttons get messed up. They don't work. Help me in over coming this issue

I had my Ipod nano 7th Gen factory restored. Nano touch works smooth without any song in-it but after i have any of the songs shifted from itunes, touch buttons get messed up. They don't work. Help me in over coming this issue.

    Hello Rohantm,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod nano (7th generation) touch screen.  I recommend the following steps for the issue you described (you can skip the steps you have already tried):
Touch screen does not accept input
Clean the screen with a microfiber polishing cloth.
Do not wear gloves while using the touchscreen. Do not use the touchscreen with wet hands or immediately after applying hand lotion. Moisture affects touchscreen behavior in the same manner as it affects a trackpad.
If you have a protective plastic sheet or film on the touchscreen, try removing it, because it may be preventing the touchscreen from working properly.
The current application may be unresponsive; try resetting iPod by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home buttons simultaneously for a least six seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Sync with iTunes and restore the iPod.
    Issue not resolved
If the issue is still not resolved, please read this information on servicing your iPod.

  • Today I downloaded a book reader app then downloaded one free and one purchased book to listen to on my Ipod Nano. Initially Ok, then a mess, now missing. Any ideas?

After downloading the app was there, the books were there, but nothing would play, not even the music. I re-searched the computer for music and now there is no Books tab and no books. There are duplicate music files and they all play. What a mess! Anyone know what's up?

What book reader app? There are no apps for the iPod Nano...

  • Ipod nano screen completely messed up

I've noticed recently that my Ipod nano screen has become totaly messed up, i can only see the top half of it,where it says Music, Photos, etc. and even that is all deteriorated, whilst the bottom almost look's like a barcode. Although i can still listen to music, volume is inacessible.
Could some one please help me on this, i just got this recently by winning it from a local radio station and I dearly love it, help would be appreciated.
PS: this is not something physicly on the screen or the result of a scratched screen, it's the actual inside, where the song information etc. is viewed.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
You might want to try this link:
Resetting iPod if it appears frozen or doesn't respond
According to the Tech Specs (http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/specs.html) Windows 98 isn't supported - could that be the answer?
    Windows system requirements
    * PC with USB port or card (USB 2.0 recommended)
    * Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4 or later, or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 2 or later

  • [solved] resizing PuTTY window while running nano is messed up

If I'm using PuTTY (Windows SSH client / terminal emulator) and nano running on Arch Linux, window resizing is completely broken. On Debian it is fine however. I went to see if they used any patches, but they don't, none related to terminal resizing so there must be some other cause.
When you resize while running nano it can look like this in Arch:
    And in Debian:
Both have checkwinsize in bash enabled, but other than that I have really no idea how to fix it... It's VERY annoying! As it also leaves bash kinda confused after closing nano, until you resize it again.

I fixed it. Commenting out "export COLUMNS LINES" in /etc/profile did the trick.

  • My IPod Nano the first one is messing up. Can some one please help me.

My nano was working fine. Then all of sudden it would not turn on.. It said that it needed itunes. I then tryed to download itunes on the computer and it would not download... I thought itunes came with the ipod. On my sisters the itunes came with the ipod... I have also tryed to just redownload the original itunes on my NEW computer but it would not work. Please someone help me.

The iTunes store comes on newer iOS devices as a standalone app. It does not come preloaded on older devices since these older iPods do NOT have Wi-Fi capability.
What happens when you tried to download iTunes? What was the error message you were receiving?

    2) Toggle the Hold switch 6 to 8 times. I did 10
    3) Press the center button and the PLAY button! Hold for ten seconds
    4) A check mark appears!
    5) Connect to computer and restore your Ipod!

  • Ipod nano messed up

i will click on a song and it'll start playing but if i try to skip to a different part of the osng it will take me to a completly different part or a new song....I need help

Welcome to the club. I don't know what the **** is going on. My Nano was fine as long as I maintained the factory settings. Once I started so called "updating" my Nano began to freeze. Now it won't work at all. It is frozen. I can't select any options. I have a hard time just turning the thing off. This is ridiculous. I am considering just going back to the factory settings. As of now, I own a nice 200 dollar paper weight. This thing is way too new to start this behavior. I have tried numerous times to reset. I may just have to call for technical assistance. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • My very messed up ipod nano

I've had my Ipod nano for about a month, I havent used it that mcuh, havent dropped it, gotten it wet, or anything like that. Since a couple days ago it's had two problems:
When I pick a song other than the Sk8er boi live acoustic EP, it just scrolls through the songs until it gets to it (sk8erboi). the only way I can get it to stop scrolling is by getting out of "Songs" or by putting it on pause, and even then I can only go through the rating, the picture, etc...
The second thing is that at least one of the songs I bought off i-tunes that have the pic of the cd has the picture that goes with the Avril Lavigne live acoustic EP (most of the songs I got off i-tunes are from that cd) instead of it's regular one.
I was wondering if there is a way I can fix it that deosn't involve taking it apart, or should I just get it exchanged?
    i-pod nano

i would try restoring the ipod, a while ago my ipod was doing some weird things and i restored it using the ipod updater and it works like new now.

  • Downloading nano CD messed up ITunes!

I have a mini ipod & ibook g4. Bought a nano tonight. Didn't download new nano cd, went to updatd nano to my libary (660 songs), but it crashed half way through.
So I inserted nano cd, but it wouldn't allow me to install (said components were disabled). Somehow ITunes got corrupted in the process and my library is GONE!!! I have new Itunes (still nano cd won't load, say ItunesX won't work on my computer.
What do I do now to get my libary back, or is it bye bye?
    Thanks!

talking to myself I see, well I got my libary back but when I try to update my nano, halfway through it saysZZ
" attempting to copy to the disk My nano failed. The disk could not be read from or written to"
    any help would be appreciated.
