Messed up on connection

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I plugged in my nano before installing itunes. now the computer will not recognize the ipod. I have gone thru all of the "r's" on the website - reset, reinstall, etc and it still won't work. I have tried all usb ports, and cannot seem to figure out how to fix this.
thanks!

Ok try to reset the ipod while it is plugged into the computer. Make sure that all other usb devices except the mouse and the keyboard are unplugged. You should also see if the ipod is showing up in the device manager. To do this right click on the my computer icon and select manage. If this doesn't work for you take the ipod to another computer and see if it shows up on there. If it does go to the support page and type in how to change the drive letter on the ipod. If that doesn't work on the support page type in msconfig. If none of these steps fix the problem take the ipod to the nearest apple store, or contact technical support to set the ipod up for repair.

  • E4200 messing with my connection

I have owned this E4200 for about a year now, and just now have run into an issue. The router seems to be messing with my connection. My internet provider gives me 15 MB/s and I get it when I connect straight to my modem. When I connect the router up, it starts to fluctuate around the 0.5-4MB/s. I checked with the provider and everything is ok so long as I don't connect to the router itself.
    Any help?

This could definitely be a firmware issue. If your setup hasn't been modified (modem upgrade?) and your subscription hasn't been upgraded (faster speeds) then there shouldn't be any issues. Minor bugs could causing the router to perform poorly. Get the latest firmware from the E4200 Support Page. Upgrade to this latest version then reset and reconfigure the router. This should fix your router's connectivity issues.

  • 10.7.2 update messed up wifi connection

Did the recent update of osx lion messed up your wireless connection? I have a friend who has an old imac computer. According to him it did not allow him to connect to his secured wifi connection. He is only able to connect an unsecured wireless connection. The only way for him to connect to his wifi is to remove the password associated with his wifi connection. Is there a fix for this one?

Depending on how old the machine is, it is hard to say.  Machine ID in Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More info under the hardware tells you its age:
    iMac 5,1 and later supported 802.11n, 802.11g, 802.11b
iMac 1,1 and PowerMac 6,1 and later supported 802.11g, 802.11b
PowerMac 5,x and earlier 802.11b.  Only those which are on 802.11b don't support WPA2, and an ethernet 802.11g or higher bridge is recommended for connecting to secure WiFi.
If his iMac is of the right age, is the wireless router setup to accept the Mac's Media Access Control address on its setup?  Some routers are specific to which hardware can connect and you can control that.

  • HT201304 When down loading games, they won't down load and error mess is "cannot connect to ITunes".  .

When attempting to down loadi game thru trade nations game, I get error message saying not connected to iTunes... .?

I had this exact issue.  However, I was not even able to "see" the pending downloads when I tried fixing them using the solution above.
In another thread, I saw that someone mentioned an issue with the use of the "&" (ampersand) symbol in your appleID information.  I had recently changed my name and it did include the & symbol in my name (not the appleID itself).  I replaced the ampersand with the word "and" and saved.  I then went to the iTunes store and logged into my account there and made the same change on my billing name.
Voila!  I could now access the 7 pending downloads on my desktop Mac and download them, and all iPhone/iPad/Ipods were again able to download from the app store.
incidentally, I had several support tickets open on this issue and never once did the Apple person even suggest that this might be the issue.

  • IPad is now severely messed up after connecting iPod to its iCloud account, and after switching to that same Apple ID for iMessage/FaceTime

So, it all started with iMessage. FaceTime had similar log in symptoms as well, but I don't really use FaceTime. The best way I can describe it is with this... Paragraph I sent to my friend, describing my dilemma.
iMessage and everything was PERFECT for about a day, then it stopped working suddenly on my iPad. Then it wouldn't work on both. Then I could sign in on my iPod but not my iPad. Then finally I could log in to both. But it deleted the old send and receive email I was using, so everyone I texted would see an email rather than my name. It WOULD NOT let me add the email again, it would refuse to send a verification email to allow it to work, and would finally just say "error". Now it suddenly stopped working on my iPad and it hasn't worked at all for almost 2 days now. Oh and I only receive notifications for VZ Messages on my iPod, not my iPad. All the settings are perfectly in order on my iPad as well, so I have no clue what to do.
Instagram notifications also have appeared to behave as the VZ Messages notifications have. Any ideas? These are all of my top-used apps, and all of their noticatioms are left broken on my iPad after I added my iPod to my iCloud account, and started using my own Apple ID for iMessage and FaceTime.
DO NOT BOTHER GIVING ME THESE LINKS, AS THEY ARE NOT EVEN DESCRIBING THE SAME ISSUE I AM HAVING.

  • Iphone contacts "not available" to car phonebook after messing around with Outlook.pst file names and backups. Iphone4 connects to car though and other phones connect properly.

iphone contacts "not available" to car phonebook after messing around with Outlook.pst files, names and backups, on my ms XP 2003 laptop. I substituted a much smaller new Personal Folder -Contacts File, with a smaller list of phone numbers (4 only as a test) which successfully synced to the iPhone 4. The iPhone connects to the Skoda Octavia HandsFreeSystem OK (Bluetooth works fine), but now iPhone wont load the new Contacts as it did originally. However a family Nokia (never messed with) can connect properly. So must be the iPhone or more likely an Outlook.pst \ Contacts problem. Ideas?

After fiddling a little more, the following fixed my corrupted outlook.pst file:
    1) I made a backup
    2) In outlook under file, I exported the calendar to excel
    3) In outlook under file, I imported the calendar back to outlook
    And voila, it worked.

  • Connection drops or extremely slow connection

    Hello,
I have an Early 2008 Macbook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.5. By the time I was running on 10.5.2 my Wi-Fi connection used to work perfectly, but when I updated to 10.5.3 I started to have so many problems with it that I even went back to 10.5.2 for a while.
I remember posting a thread in a forum and people answered me that it was impossible for a software update to mess up my connection. I proved it by downgrading and gaining full connectivity back. I've also found hundreds of people who have been having the exact same problem, but it appears as if Apple just doesn't care enough to give a definitive solution. Instead, I've tried tons of other so-called solutions from other people, that have not done anything good for me.
The problem is as follows: I can perfectly connect to my home network, but after 30 seconds- 2 minutes, my signal drops to just 1 bar (from full 4 bars) and I can no longer use it. To fix it, I have to disable my Airport card and then enable it back, to get another 30 seconds - 2 minutes. If I ever get to be connected for more than 2 minutes, my connection gets reaaaally slow (as slow that it can take me more than 5 minutes to download a 100 KB file).
Anyway, I'm 100% sure this is a SOFTWARE issue since the same computer running on Windows and resting at the exact same place doesn't have a single problem connecting. Of course, it has nothing to do with my router configuration. It is completely, entirely, 100% a problem related to Mac OS X 10.5.3 and above.
I love my computer in many ways, but this issue has been killing me bit by bit. What does a computer without a proper Internet connection work for? Then you can remotely understand my frustration.
Please, if you have had the same problem post it here. Apple has to do something about this, because I can't believe I bought such a useless computer!
    Thanks.

Have tried both your suggestions ( and every other on Discussions). Here is this mornings console log:

I believe the multiple error lines are caused by me clicking on the AirPort Status icon on the menu bar to check the Transmit Rate.

  • No longer able to view video using my a/v cable connected to TV's.

I am on the road and stay at many hotels, for about a month now, when
I connect my a/v cable to the TV's my iPhone 4 shows it connected, plays the movie which I can hear
Through the tv but no picture.
I see in the settings area for iPhone, video - that it has change as there was different
    settings available before.
Please Apple. Restore the video settings!!!!
    Thanks

av cable can be various formats
and you mean hdmi and the tv you connect to dont support hdcp that could cause it
otherwise the cable itself could be damaged
just finished messing around with connecting my iphone4 to a projector and that works just fine

  • [HP Photosmart D110a] Printer won't connect to network

    Printer: HP Photosmart D110a
    Operating system: Mac OSX 10.6.8
I'm living in a dorm room and trying to wirelessly connect my printer to my computer. I can't connect my printer to my university's network because it's protected. Instead I've been connecting to my printer's SSID network. I go into Settings --> Wireless --> Wireless Settings --> Wireless Setup Wizard --> the printer scans for routers, and then the SSID name comes up in a list underneath my university's closed network. It's called HPD110a.7809C6.
I connect to it, it says it's connected, but then the Wireless light keeps flashing blue. I go back to the Wireless tab and it shows that it's connecting, connecting, connecting... and then there's no connection.
My printer was working a little while ago. It's been tempermental and has occasionally worked. But since the last time my roommate used it and turned it off, it's refused to connect to that SSID network and has thus refused to work. I think I solved the connectivity issue I had before by connecting it to the SSID network, but now it won't connect.
Things I've tried to combat this issue:
Restarted the printer, both by turning it off and turning it on manually, as well as pulling the plug out of the back while it was on (I've read in my search for an answer for this problem that doing that can help some issues?) and unplugging it while it was off and then restarting it
Continuously tried to reconnect to the SSID network
Tried to enter the printer's IP in my internet browser's address bar; nothing came up, since it isn't connected
Turned off the wireless in the Wireless Settings menu, then turned it back on a half hour later, then waited to see if it'd reconnect
    Reset printer drivers
Updated my ePrint software and installed all availible HP product updates
I've printed out the Network Test multiple times, and each time it's said everything passes, but that I've had numerous disconnects and that the connection is low
I even moved a music player that was near my printer, thinking that maybe the metal was messing up the connection somehow (last resort)
Changed the empty ink cartridge (last resort)
I haven't tried restarting my computer, but I don't think that's what the problem is. My roommate's computer can't connect to the printer either (she's running OSX 10.8).
I have the printer in my Printer list twice in two seperate ways: One version is connected through the IP address, and the other is an option that appeared once while I was connected to the SSID network and just became a new printer. That one includes the scan option, but the first one doesn't. When I try to print something, the first printer says "Network host [IP ADDRESS] is busy.. will retry in 5/10/20/etc seconds..." and the second printer says "Printer offline."
The same thing happens with both whether I've gone into my Airport settings in the upper right and connected to the printer as a Device or not. It still shows my printer as a Device that I connect to, even though the printer itself says it's offline.
    Additional informatiom:
I don't have a USB cable for my printer, so I haven't tried that yet.
At one point during all the re-setting and restarting, I saw the printer's IP address appear in the Wireless menu as the connected network, but it still wouldn't print at that time.
That's all the information I can think of in relation to this issue; if anyone needs to know anything else, let me know. Hopefully it's enough, and hopefully someone will have the answer to my problem.
Sorry if anything is confusing or frantic; I've been dealing with this for a few days now, and I've searched all the help forums I could and looked through as many HP documents as possible, but nothing has changed the situation. This is basically my last hope.

After just switching from Cable to FIOS, I had to get my HP C4580 wireless printer back online too.
What was important was that the Printer settings knew about the IP and port changes that are impacted from the new network and router from Verizon.   How to do this is in your HP printer network setup manual and handled by their driver when its installed on the PC.
If all fails, try hooking up to your printer via an USB cable and start from there.  Make sure everything works wired before trying again from a wireless setup.  Youll end up with two printers in your Windows Printer choices, one for USB and one for Wireless, but thats no big deal.
    Tmas

  • Ios 8.3/iPhone 6 problem connecting to Pioneer car stereo

    Pioneer model AVH-X2600.
There are two ways to connect to my car stereo to play music: iPod mode or Bluetooth.  Prior to 8.3 the BT connection would automatically pause my music after about 10 seconds.  After I push Play on the stereo it would continue on without issue.  Following the 8.3 update, after about 10 seconds on the BT connection there is this awful scratching/skipping noise, not unlike a skipping cd.  But after 5-10 seconds of that, everything is back to normal.
Prior to 8.3 the iPod mode would take a good 20 secs to connect, but then everything would play normally.  Now, with 8.3, it won't connect at all.
I don't have any problems with BT connections to other speakers, so maybe this is a Pioneer problem??  Anyone else having this same problem?

Apple is messing with car connectivity for the new car functionality. The "updates" are breaking iPod mode on multiple vehicles. iOS 8.4 Beta 1 is even worse. Connects fine but most functionality is broken.
    See this thread:
ios 8.3 update, now phone can't connect to car stereo

  • WAP connection thru j2me application

    Hi,
We are connecting Login Screen in J2ME to database using HTTP connection. It running successfully in emulators. But it can't connect to database in device. Is there any option to connect database except HTTP connection.....
    It is a WAP url...

    More info needed.
How is it failing? Post error message.
Is the server accessable from the web at large?
Is the provider blocking, or otherwise messing with HTTP connections?

  • Default Gateway when connected to VPN

    Thanks for reading!
This is probably a dump question so bear with me...
I have set up a VPN connection with a Cisco ASA 5505 fronting internet, with the customers environment behind it (on the same subnet), When connected ot the VPN I can reach the inside Router fronting me and one switch behind the Router (every switch is connected to the router), but nothing else.
My beet is that the Router is messing with my connection, but,, nevermind that!, the setup ain't complete anyway... my question is more related to the Gateway I'm missing when I'm, from the outside, is connected to the VPN on the ASA, could this mess it up? Shouldn't I have a Standard-Gateway in the ipconfig settings in windows?
This is who it looks like now:

I didn't realise I had that crypto settings on, thanks my bad!!!
But... the 172.16.12.0 network is directly connected, the Router (that to be honest is a firewall) / switches is all on the same subnet (172.16.12.X/24), so sorry I didn't explain thoroughly, was more wondering about the GW and didn't want to overcomplicate things..
The Firewall/Router dosen't do any routing, so it should work right (I you count out the firewalling in the firewall and so forth, there shouldn't be any problems accomplishing this with the ASA)? The Firewall is more a DHCP for the clients/Firwall for the clients.. this will change in the future.. it will be removed,
the vpn network is staticly routed back to my ASA in that firewall...
I don't like this solution.. but this is who it looks.. for now..
    (VPN network is 10.10.10.X/24)
But... shouldn't I see a default gateway under ipconfig when I'm connected to the VPN from internet, on the vpn client that's vpned in, is this correct?
    THANKS for all the help!

  • Changed Security settings, now cannot connect

    Hi,
I was trying to increase my security settings on my WRT54G v. 8 and somehow have messed up my connection. I updated the MAC settings so that only my computer has access, and I tried to change my WEP from 64 to 128 bit. I now realize I should just change it to WPA, since it is much more secure. Now my wireless is not working, saying limited or no connectivity because it couldn't assign a network address, I believe (It looks like I don't have an IP address??). When I use my wired internet and type in the default wireless IP address, it says that the connection is not valid or some such thing (sorry, I am not on my home computer now) and I cannot get in to change the settings again. Do I need to reset the router and reset all my settings? How can I reconcile new security settings with my computer? Thanks!

To set up wireless security, you must use a computer that is wired to the router.
Where to find the router settings: The router's login password is usually on one of the "Administration" pages. The other settings are all found in the "Wireless" or the "Security" section of the router's setup pages, located at 192.168.1.1
First, give your router a unique SSID. Don't use "linksys".
Make sure "SSID Broadcast" is set to "enabled".
Next, leave the router at its default wireless settings (except for the unique SSID), and then use your pc to connect wirelessly to the router. Test your wireless Internet connection and make sure it is working correctly. You must have a properly working wireless connection before setting up wireless security.
To implement wireless security, you need to do one step at a time, then verify that you can still connect your wireless computer to the router.
Next, encrypt your wireless system using the highest level of encryption that all of your wireless devices will support. Common encryption methods are:
WEP - poor (see note below)
WPA (sometimes called PSK, or WPA with TKIP) - good
WPA2 (sometimes called PSK2, or WPA with AES) - best
WPA and WPA2 sometimes come in versions of "personal" and "enterprise". Most home users should use "personal". Also, if you have a choice between AES and TKIP, and your wireless equipment is capable of both, choose AES. With any encryption method, you will need to supply a key (sometimes called a "password" ).
The wireless devices (computers, printers, etc.) that you have will need to be set up with the SSID, encryption method, and key that matches what you entered in the router.
Retest your system and verify that your wireless Internet connection is still working correctly.
If you have trouble connecting, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use.  Delete your current network (this will remove any old settings).  Reboot computer.  Return to "Preferred Networks" and re-enter your current network info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".  Reboot computer.  You should reconnect automatically (it can take up to two minutes).  If you still have trouble, temporarily turn off your computer software firewall.
And don't forget to give your router a new login password.
Picking Passwords (keys): You should never use a dictionary word as a password. If you use a dictionary word as a password, even WPA2 can be cracked in a few minutes. When you pick your login password and encryption key (or password or passphrase) you should use a random combination of capital letters, small letters, and numbers, but no spaces. A login password, should be 12 characters or more. WPA and WPA2 passwords should be at least 24 characters. Note: Your key, password, or passphrase must not have any spaces in it.
Most home users should have their routers set so that "remote management" of the router is disabled. If you must have this option enabled, then your login password must be increased to a minumum of 24 random characters.
One additional issue is that Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2. The patch is located in SP3, so you will need SP3 to run WPA2 in Win XP. Vista already supports WPA2.
    Note:
WEP is no longer recommended. The FBI has demonstrated that WEP can be cracked in just a few minutes using software tools that are readily available over the Internet. Even a long random character password will not protect you with WEP. You should be using WPA or preferably WPA2 encryption.

  • VISION:M CONNECTION STILL NOT WORK

My sincere apologies if posting this message again is upsetting. However, I followed the advice given to me on here about getting my vision:m recognized. It worked. However, it rendered my wireless internet completely useless. When I did the registry edit, it changed USB settings or something, and I could not longer use my wireless network at all. So, I did a system restore and am back to where I started.
I have changed usb ports, re-installed software, connected in different ways, all fruitless attempts. I CANNOT do that registry edit again, it will mess up my connection. I have proven it.
Please, can somebody tell me of another way? I believe I have service pack 2 and everything.

I am using Linksys Wire-less G, and it connects via usb port. The registry edit that I executed affected the usb permissions and did so for "everyone." (I too assumed it would not limit anything) For some reason, after I did so, my internet connection completely disappeared, and my wire-less adapter could not find my router, or anybody else's in my neighborhood. As soon as I did my system restore, everything went back to normal, except my vision:m would not connect. When I changed the registry deal again, my internet immediately shut off and I could not get ANY connection whatsoever.

  • How do I delete old network connections?

I'm adding some new computers to my network and have discovered a mess of old connections in the network preferences. I'd like to delete the old ones in order to keep things a neat and tidy as I can.
However, I can't seem to find a way to delete them individually.
Is there some way to see all your network connections in a list or something and delete those outdated or no longer needed? I can find them individually using network preferences, but even then there does not seem to be a delete feature.
    G5 Dual 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4)

    Hi--
You can delete locations in the Network Preferences. From the "Location" menu, choose "Edit Locations..." and you'll get a little box with your locations. There's a "Delete" button there. If the "Edit Locations..." menu item is greyed out, just click the little lock in the lower left of the pane to open it, supply your password, and you should be in business.
