iTunes palys all of my purchased audios with a strange echo (as if the batter is low on a cassette player).
I'm on Mac OS 10.3.9
Using iTunes 7.1.1 (S)
What's wrong?

Problems with animation playback consistency and transparencies in DPS

Hello,
I'm somewhat new to Edge Animate and I'm trying to incorporate simple animation into a DPS piece that my company has been publishing for the past year. A few questions:
1) Is there a "trick" to getting transparencies to work? I've had zero luck so far and I'm beginning to resign myself to just putting the entire design into the Edge composition as a work around. There must be an easier way? I'm hoping I'm missing something simple and obvious. From my research, I've gleaned that the poster image feature is a major player in all the headaches. Speaking of which, do you have to start over and rebuild a comp everytime you need to publish without a poster?
2) I've noticed that playback is really inconsistant. Most of the time, when I first swipe on a page, the animation won't play at all. Subsequent swipes, and it begins playing fairly consistency. Any ideas as to what this is about?
3) Finally, is there any guidelines for SVG settings used in Edge? I found that many of the vector files I was using in comps were messing w/playback, so I ended up subbing them out for pngs.

Hey Darin,
There's currently a bug where the poster image won't clear when your AN comp plays inside of DPS. So for example, if your stage is set to transparent and you have a blue poster image, the blue poster still shows while the stage is playing.
1) A workaround for this (if you don't need a poster image) is to swap out the poster file in your publish settings for a 1x1px transparent png graphic. This makes it so even though the poster doesn't technically clear, it's only showing that 1x1px png.
2) Try setting the auto play delay to something like .125sec in under Web Content in the Folio Overlay panel inside of InDesign. I believe there was an issue where content can sometimes have tricky playback, give that a shot and see if it helps.
3) Not sure what the issues you're facing are, but where are you testing your playback? The desktop DPS viewer has an outdated version of webkit and won't render SVG properly (if at all).

Quadro 4000 issues w/ PP CC. Crashes MacPro during rendering and exporting in Encoder.

I'm using a Mac Pro 3,1 early 2008 w/ 2x2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon w/16 GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro 4000 is installed and the factory installed NVidia GeForce 8800 GT for dual monitors. I also have a Blackmagic Design Deckling HD Extreme installed but mainly only use it for the XLR audio outputs to my Mackie Mixer. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.2 and all drivers have been updated.
I finally made the switch to PP CC from CS6 thinking it would make my life easier, boy was I wrong. What a mess. Playback in the timeline is laggy and it seems like the audio is just a bit behind even though technically it is in sync. Makes it very difficult for precise cutting to a quick beat. Main problem though is when I go to Export the Media. As soon as the progress reached a spot in the sequence that I know was not fully rendered in the timeline, the display flashed and then froze the MacPro. I had to manually shutdown. Then I tried to render all the clips still with the yellow bar so that the entire sequence was green. I had to do it in small increments because if I tried to render more than about 10 seconds of the sequence the same crash occurred. Once the entire sequence had the green render bar I tried to Export again. Sure enough, once in Encoder the processing starts out normal, but then as the export continues the processing starts to slow down and then came to a crawl, literally 5 minutes to process perhaps one 5 second clip until it got about halfway and bang, the same flashes and weird pixelation patterns on my displays and then the MacPro froze. Again I had to do manual shutdown and then start back up. After struggling with this till 3 in the morning I did notice that at some point when I reopened Premiere I got the following missing render error msg. "This project was last used with Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Open CL), which is not available on this system. Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (Cuda) will be used." Ok, so something tells me there is an issue with my NVidia Quadro 4000 and Premiere CC.
If anyone has figured out a solution please let me know. Right now I just can't afford to buy a new Mac so I'm hoping perhaps a simple solution or even purchasing a different acceleration card to replace the Quadro 4000 will do the trick.

Yes, latest version of Yosemite, all drivers are up to date. All fans working. I have always used 2x 23" Apple Cinema displays, but they are using the GEForce8800 Graphics card that came with the Mac Pro in the other PCI slot. So the Quadro 4000 is not connected to any displays. Internal Media RAID is 3TB with 2.4 TB still available. I did not keep any settings from old CS6 version of Premiere. Here's an update for you. Its the Quadro 4000 for sure. I talked to PNY, the manufacturer, and they said to pull it out of the Mac and see if the problem goes away. So I did, and of course the problem went away. I also tried installing it in different PCI slots, but to no avail. I also bought a brand new 3TB internal Seagate drive and I did a clean install of latest Yosemite and all the necessary drivers for the Quadro 4000 and installed Premiere CC on it. I had the exact same issues when running PP CC on the new internal drive. So that pretty much tells that its most likely a defective Quadro 4000. Unless you can think of something else that I am overlooking.

Touchpad - Bluetooth audio streaming works Preware Apps, not App store Apps

Hi,
I'm having an issue with any applications I've installed through the App store not streaming over bluetooth.
Any app installed with Preware streams audio just fine.
I haven't tried resetting the touchpad to factory condition..
It's mainly an issue since Grooveshark seems to have been added to the App store and I (stupidly) updated my preware app to the app store one.
No, this is not the only app that doesn't stream over bluetooth.
I am streaming to my Pioneer VSX 821 K.
Anyone have any experience with this issue?
Anyone resolve this issue before?
I tried searching the forums for bluetooth type posts but didn't see anything related.

FYI, if you've opened the Shazam app, it messes up the bluetooth playback with Pandora (maybe other apps too) you have to close the app completely in order to restore normal audio.
So you might want to close all apps competing for the audio playback, and only do one at a time. Apple and audio players have messed up playback on the iPhone.
Does Google Maps audio work over the bluetooth connection?
Is this a built-in bluetooth or is it an add-on system?

16/9 displayed as 4/3 in quicktime pro

Have exported a widescreen movie from FCE HD to quicktime (pro 7.0.3) Have check the properties before export and states that it is anamorphic and 720x576 pal. Looks fine in FCE. However, on playback of the new quicktime file, its 4/3. Have tried messing with playback settings in quicktime - window/movieproperties/video track/visual settings, but though I can change these settings, they will NOT stay changed. tried 1024 x 576 (=16/9) bit it just resets to 720x576. tried anamorphaziser without understanding it, by dropping quicktime file into it but to no avail. On slightly dodgy ground as dont really understant square pixels etc Can anyone tell me how to end up with a quicktime file that simply displays in the same ratio as the original material?

You are working with a DV stream, which is 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL) regardless of whether it is a 4:3 signal or a 16:9 signal. You might notice that 720x[480|576] is not actually 4:3, though it is a lot closer to 4:3 than it is to 16:9.
FCE HD, iMovie HD, and the Anamorphiciser use a special user data atom in the QuickTime movie to identify it as a 16:9 movie. As the name implies, that atom is not defined (or used) by QuickTime Player. All QuickTime Player knows is that it has a 720x[480|576] DV stream, and it tries to display it accordingly. If you import the clip into Final Cut or iMovie or iDVD (not sure about DVD Studio Pro), those apps will see the user data and handle the movie correctly.
In order to view it in QuickTime Player, you should go into the movie properties and adjust the size of the video track to a size consistent with 16:9 square pixels...that is, 854x480 for NTSC, 1024x576 for PAL...then save the movie as either a self-contained or reference movie. That should reset the settings AND convince them to stay changed.
The change is only necessary for viewing the movie in QuickTime Player. Most of the applications that might make use of the movie can figure out whether it is 4:3 or 16:9 by the user data.

QuickTime Pro for Windows cuts off after about a second?

Pro version of QuictTime worked fine at first on Vista 32bit. (Don't judge me becasue I'm using Vista, please!) Used it for video editing last fall. Now I find any video or audio file I try to play cuts off at about 1 minute. Only way to get it to play an entire movie is to turn on "Play All Frames" or else mess with playback speed -- and in both cases audio gets turned off. I have tried resetting just about every preference and view setting I can find. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Was especially careful to make sure I did not have playbe restricted by means of "Play Selection Only." Furthermore, teh start-stop bracketting controls have no effect.
This happens with all kind of video and audio tracks.
I am at a total loss. Searched Windows Registry for something amiss but found nothing. Even being a software developer myself I just don't see what is amiss. Could this be due to some nasty codec? Conflict with other software? Only new media software on this machine I know of is Adobe's and I never even use that.

I haven't [yet] tried it with other M4V files, but I will and get back to you.
BTW, after it crashed, I restarted QuickTime and opened the newly-created "self contained" movie and it seemed to play OK, So despite the inconvenience of having to restart, the crash didn't seem to affect the end product of my work.

MSI K9A Platinum, X580 and Xtreme Ga

So, me just as basicly everyone else who has this problem (which seems to be extremely common) is very tired having such lacking effort from Creative fixing the problems that do excist with the card range to fully corporate with about any modern motherboard. I got the SB9000, Xtreme Gamer - once I installed it in my K9A Platinum motherboard it found itself as BC00, worked fine but gave extremely messed up playback in Battlefield 242 once the Orbital Strike was raping the ground just as some other distant audio playbacks became very crackling which just ruins the experience and especially my faith in Creative as a company. After I updated to latest BIOS, v..6.0, the card wanted to find itself as a E800 and sometimes the audio card didn't want to be detected at all in Battlefield, forcing me to use Software sound which is outragous. I didn't pay to play with motherboard audio, but you guys on Creative just don't give a **bleep**, do you?Drivers are worthless... come on, seriously, it's the most lazy attitude I've ever seen... One update on about a year? And something like three updates, top, on a entire product range? Take atleast fi've minutes and fix this problem, I read the sticky but it didn't tell me anything but "We're Creative, go away from our forum spam down your Motherboard manufactors and hope for the best... losers" and I won't accept it. Either Creative gives us the exact fixes or nobody cares - Creative have the resources to fix this problem right now, it can't be so freaking hard to update the software when it's so easy making products that just won't work with any equipment from the 2th centuary in corporation with that audio chipset... Shame on you Creative. I sent a message to the Support about this half a week ago, still nothing, thanks alot for beeing bad at everything.

Tone down the bad language.
If the card isn't always being detected properly then that could be causing an issue. Have you tried uninstalling it, and then reinstalling it in another PCI slot? That'll force the card onto other resources (like another IRQ).
Did you send a message to support through the website? Did you get an auto response? A response always automatically goes out when a request arri'ves so you know we got your e-mail, if you didn't get that, check your spam filter first in case it got stuck there.

Video playback in the preview monitors appears as a jagged mess. The audio plays perfectly. I am using Premiere Pro CS4 4.2.1, only DV NTSC. I have checked all my settings, have found nothing that will fix this. What could be causing this problem?

IF you have an nVidia card...
Right click in any open area of the Windows desktop
Select NVIDIA Control Panel from the popup window
Select SYSTEM INFORMATION at the lower left corner
Driver version should be the 1st line in Details

Video playback and Album covers in Cover album flow mode are a mess

After installing iTunes 7.02 the cover albums come through on albums with song group list, but in the Cover Flow mode where you browse through the album covers, the covers are made up of verticle and horizontal lines and nothing can be made out. Even the bar at the bottom that allows you to drag and flip through the covers has a hashed line look.
The video playback images are also messed up. basically I can see that there is an image moving but it's not interpretable. The sound comes through fine. The image basically looks like a whole bunch of little squares that are not aligned right.
Any suggestions

Zen Micro 'Playback Error' Mess

i'm currently using the beta firmware 2.0.05 and occasionally while playing back songs, i get the message 'playback error'. although i see this message, the song does play without any apparent errors/problems. does anyone know what this error message means?

i have firmware v. .xxx..... and i get that playback error message too, so i investigated and found out it was only for one song. So i decided to just have my friend send me his version of the song and it worked. so i'm guessing its the song thats messed up even though it will work fine on wmp0 or winamp.. etc.

Magic mouse messing with video playback

Hi,
I have a really REALLY annoying problem which i can't remember ever happening until a few days ago.
If i'm watching any sort of video on youtube for example, as soon as i use the magic mouse 1 finger up/down swipe gesture to scroll the page up or down it starts interfering with the video playback, as if its trying to scroll the video. the video trys to scroll forwards/back then just stops/crashes.
Any ideas as this didn't happen before.

Burn process not completely done, messing up dvd playback

When I try to burn from idvd, it goes through all the processes, then it completes the burn, spits out the disk and then the program freezes.
When I try to play back the dvd on a dvd player or computer it plays about half of one slide show, won't open the other and just quits working all together...my dvd player says it doesn't have playback capabilities, yet more than half of it played.
I did do the trial burn on the mac and it works perfectly...any ideas what is messing this up?

It could be any number of things. Of course, if it "completes the burn" then you should expect the disk to be ejected. The freezing up part shouldn't occur. You say that you did a "trial burn on the Mac and it works perfectly". I take it that you mean that you saved the project to your hard drive as a disk image, and that the disk image played fine. If that's so, then iDVD did its job correctly. Try burning from the disk image using the disk utility app on your Mac instead of directly from iDVD.
If that doesn't work, try going through the usual maintenance procedures and diagnostics. No guarantees that they will work, but worth a try. First I would try the oft applied maintenance of deleting preferences and doing a permissions repair. To delete preferences, close i/DVD and trash the file named com.apple.iDVD.plist found in User (the house icon)/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Disk Utility app found in HD/Applications/Utilities. In the left hand pane of the Disk Utility window seclect your hard drive icon and then click on repair permissions. Takes about 3 minutes to repair. Then relaunch iDVD and see if you still have the problem. iDVD will recreate the .plist file that you deleted.
Check to make sure that you have sufficient free disk space on your boot drive to do a burn. 20GB--25GB often is recommended on this forum.
Switching to a different brand of DVD media will sometimes help. Verbatim, HP, Fuji, Sony are brands frequently recommended here.
Update all programs to current.
Make sure that you have no conflicting 3rd party apps or Quicktime Apps. If so they should be temporary disabled.
Use Disk Utility to burn, and burn at a speed of 4x or lower.
Before you burn make sure that all computer intensive programs, and automatic programs are shut down. Programs like screen savers, power savers, automatic software updates and the like should be turned off.
If your DVD player can play part of the DVD, but then fails, possibly you have a DVD drive problem or a DVD player problem.

Song Playback is messing up

Just one specific song's playback is messing up. This song will play for 20 seconds then skips all the way to the last second; and this only happens in iTunes. In any other player the song will play completely. What is the deal and how do I fix it???

I've had that problem in the car with the aux connector plug almost, but not quite, fully seated. The same can happen with headphones. Make sure you are fully plugged in.

Issues with video playback, messed up shuffle mode with playlist sharing

I have a Mac (10.4.7) and a PC (XP SP2)... both are running iTunes 7 downloaded on September 12. All of my media is on my PC, and I do playlist sharing with my PowerBook across mu home network. A few issues with iTunes 7 that didn't exist for me in iTunes 6.0.5:
- Video playback is like multicolored TV snow. This happens on my PC as well as when the video is shared to my Mac.
- When sharing the music to my Mac, and I'm listening in shuffle mode, many times the same song will play twice in a row.
- I've only had this happen once so far (in the last 24 hours), but again I was listening to music shared to my Mac. One song played, then started to play again for the second time in a row. The song played for about 15 seconds, then jumped into another song. After that song was over, it jumped back and played the last 15 seconds of the previous song, all while having a completely different song highlighted in iTunes with the track position set to 0:00. It was very, very odd.
