Messed up projects

I used a wilton  template to make baby shower cards. When the time comes  to print the project I can't set the printer to  printer the invitations properly. The print either goes to the  left or the right of the invitation paper. The invitation paper is 5.5 x 8.5 and I can't figure out how to set the printer to center the information on that size of paper.

Wilton invitations is paper that you can purchase that has designs to help you create your own personal invitations. you  go  to  wiltonprint.com and comprise your invitation's have done that but when I go  to print them, I  can not get the paper properly loaded in to our new printer for the text to  come out properly centered on the 5.58 x 8.5 paper. I have an HP  photosmart C4795 print, scan, and copy  printer. I have  never  attempted invitations on this printer before but have several times on my old one. I don't even know how to go about setting the proper  size  for the printer, or exactly how to load  the paper so it comes out centered on the paper. Running out of time, need them by the middle of next week. I am starting to freak out.. My best friend is counting on me. I thought it shouldn't be a problem, now I'm worried I won't able to come through for her.

  • IMovie User Interface messed up, projects in danger.

Hello there, and thanks for checking in.
This evening, I was working on a project I had been doing for a few weeks now, with lots of 1080 and 720 footage, tons of effects, settings changed (Generally detailed work, hard to render in RT)
When I was moving around a "Cutout" of a 1080 clip, on top of another 1080, something happened, the UI froze up, save data, I could move the cursor around, but only the video changed. Meaning no playhead, no UI changes, just a video feed of me, scrubbing.
I of corse quit the application, and reopened it, but now... The UI doesn't update on it's own, and the entire project is screwed up. Infact, I can't even check my other projects, cause the buttons do not work, I can play the project and that's it.
Is there anything I can do? Or did a bug in the system ruin my very very old work forever? (I have Time Machine, if THAT works, doubt it)
Here's a picture of how the problem looks (I opened up a few items in the menu-bar to manually refresh the UI, And I have indeed restarted, rebooted, and quit all other apps.) http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g284/allingby/Screenshot2009-09-10at022935.png
If there's something I can do, please help.
If not... Then may I suggest that there should be an option 'Not to auto-save'? I'm pretty ****** off, I can **** well save myself, this is all because iMovie saved on it's own, in a frozen moment!
Sorry for the attitude, but I believe the software is a little "Too easy" to use, and needs fixing, and options.
Hope to get advice soon, as in 24 hours, Time Machine will be out of reach to go back to an hour earlier. Thankyou for your time, Allingby.

To everyone who encounter this issue:
I fixed it, thanks to time machine, I got a one hour older copy!
To fix the problem, go to time machine and find your project file (Located in Movies > iMove Projects) and take one from a time that works, "Restore to" in... I dunno, some folder on desktop, rename it. Then you open your destroyed iMovie, make a new event, and project, then quit and reopen. Now the app works, but your old projects (If opened) are still ****, so quit iMovie, go and put the project file from time machine, into the real folder (Still Movies > iMovie Projects) and launch iMovie again, then chose the project with the new name, and PRESTO!

  • Can't open project on External Harddrive

I'm using iMovie 5.0.2 and working on a project that is saved on an external hard drive.
After 6 hours of editing, the power cord came out of the hard drive. I connected everything and tried to save the project. I then got scared and stopped the saving. Now I can't open the project. I can't save it to another part of the hard drive and open it. Every time I try to open the movie it says :
    A project file is missing.
The file "_" couldn't be opened
and is being skipped. Click Ignore All
to skip any remaining missing file messages.
The iMovie quits. If I can find the files- all won't be lost. Plus, I have a high res quicktime file saved of the raw footage. But, I would like NOT to lose that 6 hours of work.
Can I open this file? Did I mess it up? Where are the video clips saved? I can't find them. I have iMovie on my laptop and the project saved on the hard drive.
Thanks for any help. This is why I'm so done with video Just a few more projects to do. After 15 years this type of crap drives me crazy.
    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't do anything more with your iMovie. Don't try another save, as that can write over your last good saves. You MAY be able to retrieve the prior save. Hopefully, you saved as you went along during these 6 hours so you can retrieve a very recent saved version.
(These types of accidents have made me realize the importance of backing up my movies-in-progress as I am editing them. I did not do this in the past, and now I try to do it at least at the end of each editing session so that not all would be lost. I had an external drive fail suddenly and all of my movies were gone. Fortunately, I was able to reimport the original footage, but frequent saves would have been best).
In iM6, you can access the project files by control or right-clicking on the star icon and selecting 'show package contents' to let you see the movie files. One or more of the icons will have a tilde ~ or several of them. Those are prior versions of the iMovie, and can be used to get back to a prior save.
In iM5, I think you can just directly open the project files and see the movie files as ~ files with the name as "yourmovie.mov" It might be in a Cache folder and might be called "Timeline Movie.mov." If you don't see anything like a Cache folder, try doing the process for iM6 above. If you see multiple .mov files with ~ and then more ~~ or even ~~~ those are more versions. You may have to try one or more of these to find the latest one possible.
Once you locate the .mov version of your movie, open a new iMovie project and drop in one of the .mov~ movies into it and see if it works. If so, continue editing with this one. This version will be all in one clip, so more editing is a bit more difficult, but not impossible and at least you will have some of your work back.
It's crucial you NOT save the messed-up project right now, for that will destroy the good QuickTime movie, replacing it with a bad "empty" movie.
(Thanks to Karl Peterson for the info re: retrieving prior saved movies).
    Good luck!

  • Recovering a project in iMovie 3???

So I was working on a project and saving often. iMovie 3 then quit unexpectedly, and when I reopened it, my clips were all still there, but back in the clip panel (not in the project)? How can I restore my work without having to re-order my clips? And how do I ensure that this doesn't happen again?
    Thanks!
    -Chad

It sounds like iMovie has "forgotten" all the clips you've created. It no longer recognizes the clips in the project so when the project opens, it moves them to the trash.
The best solution, of course, is to retrieve to your last backup of the project.
If there is none, then when something like this occurs, be sure to NOT save the messed-up project. Saving updates the project.mov movie so it too contains no clips.
If you have not yet saved, you can import that project.mov (it's in the project folder) to a new iMovie project. That delivers the video and audio of Project A to Project B as a single clip. iMovie 3 has an import limit of about 10 minutes, so if your project is longer than that you'll have to split the project.mov into smaller chunks.
If the project.mov is empty too, then it's best to start over.
    Karl
PS: iMovie 3 and 4 were prone to this kind of project corruption. The odds of it occurring can be improved by never emptying the iMovie trash. Or you can upgrade to iMovie HD 5 or 6, which appear to have eliminated such project-corrupting bugs.

  • Every time I try to open a new movie project the clips from previous project are already in it

How do I start a fresh movie project that's completely blank? I go to New Movie start a file and then when I click import clips it imports the clip fine but the old project clips get imported along with it. How do I stop that?

I ran into nearly an identical problem after upgrading to the newest version of iMovie (with Mavericks) and then attempting to move a lot of older events and projects to an external hard drive. Mind you, this was AFTER I watched not only a lynda.com movie on how to do this, but a Tutor for Mac movie on it as well. Guess what? I have a jumbled mess where projects and events no longer seem to be paired whatsoever. Very disheartening and I haven't yet found a system to right things again.

  • Index error in bin

    Hello people!
I just had a project refuse to save any changes I made in the mixer (add new busses etc). From nowhere, I was given the "index error in bin" message, and also "minor change of project data has taken place".
There is an archived discussion on this topic here
I am in the middle of trying to import the messed up project into a new project, using the import function.....
Anyone else had this come up?
I'm on Logic 9.1.6, but went from 9.1.3 just recently, and can't be sure when this corruption actually occured - before the update or after.

  • Can we recover lost work?

A colleague and I have been working on a large project, 100 GB worth. We started on my MBP and saved it to an external Lacie HD.Then she carried on using her MB.
After trimming it down and cropping out the unwanted stuff we added transitions and themes but imovie starting acting a bit unstable. Yesterday when she opened it, it was completely blank! After almost having a fit we found everything in the trash and put it back in the timeline but it's all out of order and all the transitions, themes and cropping we did are all gone (It wasn't because it was closed without saving beforehand, by the way).
    That was many days work!
Is there any way we can find all the transitions, themses etc and have them back in the right place or are we doomed to start all over again? Also, what are the most likely reasons for this kind of thing happening?

Yes. You should be able to recover whatever you had done up to your last save. iMovie saves these prior 'saves' in the project files, but if you have saved your newest work after dragging things from the trash, you will not be able to recover the older project information because iMovie's later save overwrites it.
As per Karl Petersen, here is the way to do it:
+There's a QuickTime movie inside the project that may still be able to play your project. In iMovie HD it's inside the Cache folder of the project package, and it's called "Timeline Movie.mov". (To open the iMovie HD package, Control-click on the project icon and choose Show Package Contents.)+
+If the movie plays okay, the movie can be imported to a NEW iMovie project to rescue your work. Everything will arrive as a single clip, but everything will be there and play in the proper order.+
+It's crucial you NOT save the messed-up project right now, for that will destroy the good QuickTime movie, replacing it with a bad "empty" movie.+
As far as why it occurred, it is hard to know. Maybe the preference files got corrupted, maybe some clips did. Also, when it was on the external drive was iMovie playing and working ok? The external drive needs to be Mac-formatted for iMovie to work properly. If you recover the movie and SAVE it to a new iMovie project, you should close it, and delete iMovie's preference file: YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist. Drag this plist file to the trash. When you open iMovie again, a new one will be created.
Please post back if you cannot find the project quicktime movie, or if it does not work for you.

  • How to flatten keyword hierarchy?

For about a year I had all my keywords organized into a nice hierarchy, but after moving projects between libraries and computers my keywords are in chaos because keyword hierarchy information is not included in exported projects. I have keywords repeated with one nested in a folder and its copy sitting at the top level (with photos assigned to both).
After seeing what a mess moving projects causes, I'd like to eliminate the hierarchies and just keep a flat list. Does anyone know of a way to flatten the structure without having to drag each keyword out of its folder? I tried deleting the Keywords.plist file, but it gets rebuilt with the hierarchy intact. Any help is appreciated!

One thing that might be a factor is the way Aperture keeps keywords active even if you move or delete them in the keywords list.
In order to have control over your keyword list, you need to delete existing keywords from your images. As Steve Weller points out in his articles, Aperture keeps keyword information in several places, not just the keyword list, and you need to deal with all of the places in order to control the hierarchy of the keyword list. For example, if you have set up custom keyword buttons, they store the keyword in the hierarchy of the time the button was created, so each time you use the button, you are making Aperture "remember" the hierarchy, even if you have later moved the keyword.
But your issue is that you have many images using keywords. When a keyword is used in an image, it is stored with the image; Aperture remembers the hierarchy of the keyword. This means that if you later move that keyword in the keyword list, Aperture considers the moved keyword to be separate and independent of the keyword previously used with an image. You can see this in the smart album display of keywords, which is based on actually used keywords. If you are having this problem, then keywords will appear more than once in the smart album keyword list. If you want to keep the same spelling of a keyword that has been moved in the keyword list, the only solution I know of is, frankly, a bit tedious:
    1. use the smart album to select all images using the unwanted version of the keyword
    2. then assign an "intermediate" (not identically spelled) keyword to those images,
    3. then delete the unwanted version of the keyword from the images (use the keyword field in the control bar; option-tilde or click on the field, then type the name of the unwanted keyword, then shift-return to delete the keyword)
    4. then assign the new version of the keyword to the images
    5. then delete the intermediate keyword
    Good luck!

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 4-lost transitions and titles

I have been editing a Adobe Pre 4-projects and saved it a couple of times during the last 14 days. Yesterday I moved the whole project file to another disk (external), unfortunately I did not copy and save; I moved it.
Now when I open the project from the external disk, all the transitions and titles are gone. Where have all the transitions and titles gone?

    Hi thanks for the response,
So I had adobe PrE 4.0 and downloaded the free trial version of adobe PrE 10 from the adobe site. I opened my PrE 4.0 project file in the trial version to see how it would look and it looked fine but for some reason PrE 10 is extremley slow on my computer and I have an ok computer, and I am not talking about the playback video was choppy, which it was, the editing process on the timeline was so slow and choppy that it was hard to edit properly. The did not move any files and PrE 10 didn't ask me any questions, I just go on it and opened the project file up from the PrE 4.0 file location. So I got rid of the trial version and went back to PrE 4.0 to get back to work on the same project and when I got there the transitions and titles would not work for that project file, however if I started a new file it would work fine (but I do not wish to start all over), when the video got to the titles in the playback video a red screen with the words media offline in several languages would come up and than go away once the title was supposed to be gone. I have the bad/messed up project file on my flashdrive now too. If we can't get this to fix on 4.0 than maybe you could tell me how to fix the PrE 10 because I got that too just in case, maybe you could tell me how to speed it up because it is unbelievably slow, and I have windows 7 64 bit operating system.

  • Cannot successfully collect files on AE CC on Mavericks 10.9.3

Cannot successfully collect files on AE CC 12.2.1.5 on Mavericks 10.9.3. The files are on a server and all living in one folder. When testing I do not have this error collecting files that are on my main drive or RAID. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I was experiencing this continuously. Maybe you have a different issue, but this may help.
My problem was that AE was always alerting me about missing footage, obviously the problem was not about missing footage, because in the Project Panel there was no missing footage (note that if this is happening After Effects stop the entire process, so copying the “missing footage” will not solve it. Also: When the Generating Report Only checkbox was active this error never occurred.
I figured it out that the real problem was about file names too long. Online I found some articles and discussion confirming that the problem should be because of characters file names, paths, folder structure, special characters, etc.
A clue come from the point Unicode conversion for robust support for characters (in file names, paths, etc.) of this old article: http://blogs.adobe.com/aftereffects/2013/04/whats-new-changed-after-effects-next.html
So to recap try to ensure that in your Project Panel none of the file names is too long (I don't know which is exactly the limit), is containing special characters, and try to simplify your folder structure.
In details I solved it following this steps (obviously the first three steps are to reduce, clean and simplify the project if it has a lot of files, folders and/or if it’s a complete mess):
Reduce Project selecting just the really needed compositions to get rid of what I don't need
Run the Project Cleaner script (http://aescripts.com/project-cleaner/) to get rid of redundancies and for a deep cleaning
Run the OrganizeProjectAssets script http://provideocoalition.com/dtorno/video/organize-project-assets-free-after-effects-scrip t - to simplify the folder structure
Manual double check to the file names
    Collect Files
    Hope this help.
Edit: Be careful when reducing and cleaning projects with expressions

  • Randomly load swf on html page load

I am looking for a way to load random swf files on a page
    load.
I will have 1.swf, 2.swf, 3.swf, and so on. I want my html to
reference "randomnumber().swf" when it loads (or something like
it). Any simple ways to do this? I'm a newb, so the more detail the
    better.
    Thanks in advance.

I must be doing something wrong. First time I have ever
    messed with project.
I created a new project and over in the project window I
right-clicked and chose "Add File" and added my swf files. I went
to INSERT | NEW SYMBOL and created a movie clip called mc0. I
couldn't find where to change its position, so I tried CTRL-K on it
and tried different alignments on the stage (I don't think that
worked very well). I didn't know if you wanted the code on the
first frame of the movie clip or the main timeline. Based on the
code I thought the main timeline, but I put it in both just in
    case.
Doesn't seem to work for me. Can someone fill in the gaps for
    me?

  • Audio in Edge Animate

Si può inserire traccia audio? Come?

    Thank you Dear redesign
well Dear Cindy.., i had a look on your project, i tried to cleanup it for you but because of that heavy mess your project have it would take two days for me, so i decided to leave it as it was
i noticed that you used 2 series of images, one image and other one symbol, you really dont need to do it this way, you could have those images that you made start and falling animation with them as a draggable objects and you really didnt need to re create a symbol for every single image, and maybe you think so how should i play those animation ?
you could place the symbol animation on the tree where ever that user will put the images and use that animation symbol as droppable area !!
see very easy, and didnt needed much additional element and symbols that you made to show, also here is a note: if you can use less objects and symbols then your work will play smoother and better on Mobile Devices and slow computers
btw, here is how you can reset the location of your images after drag and drop
we need to save our images original positions and put them back on their original place when we reply so, here is how we do this :
    for (i=1;i<32;i++)
    sym.$("_"+i).data("left", sym.$("_"+i).position().left).data("top", sym.$("_"+i).position().top);
because you made your drag and drop display off, we just can get their position when they are on !!
so the only way we can do that is putting this code on the time line after they are on, so i decided to put them on 9.900 th miliseconds
now we saved their original position, and we need to put them back on replay button, so we should write this code at the top of all codes in click action on replay button :
    for (i=0;i<32;i++)
    sym.$("_"+i).css({"left": sym.$("_"+i).data("left"),"top": sym.$("_"+i).data("top") })
now problem is solved and after Reply you can see your images are in their first place
    regards

  • Help! Library corruption after moving masters

Hi Guys. I hoped never to find myself in this situation.I'll try to be succint
I made a book using images from several projects. I put the book inside a new, empty project, and started working on it. 100 pages. days of work.
Today I wanted to be able to selfcontain the book in its project to export it. So I simply grabbed all the images from the browser section of the book (lamenting for an easy way to differentiate "used" images from "unused" images, but that's another story)
Aperture duly moved all masters in the project containing the book.
unfortunately, this is where the trouble starts! I'm now getting lots of images with the wrong data displayed: mixed up thumbnails, mixed up "previews" in the book layout. One Image uses pixels from image B in the book layout and from image C in the thumbnails... major corruption?
Of course the first thing I did was to rebuild the library, hoping for the best. It didn't cure anything.
I'd use Steve Weller's suggestion to delete the minis etc. but I prefer to have some feedback before i get going!
(you can be direct in your suggestions: i've got a 96,5% ACT certification for Aperture. not boasting just thinking the bases are well covered)
setup= MBpro as in signature. ApLib and referenced masters all in the same external HFS+ extended (journaled) drive (laCie LittleBigDisk 200).
    cheers
    max-pol

If you export a project and that project references masters that are in other projects, then Aperture makes copies of the masters in the exported project for you automatically. This is a nice feature, but can mean that when you import the project again you have duplicate images.
You can alays duplicate your messed up projects and then delete the AP.minis in one copy. If the result is even worse than what you have now, then you still have a pristine original project.

  • Frozen video/preview window

    hi there!
running iMovie 8.0.6 on my brand new macbook pro. have had great success with iMovie thus far until last night when i cut a 1hr 5min long video down to 8 minutes. all was well, but this morning when i come back to edit some more and add music, titles etc, the project won't play. when i click play on the project, either in full screen or regular screen mode, the audio starts playing and the little yellow line starts moving through the clips but the image in the preview window and in full screen is simply frozen on the very first clip in the movie. any thoughts why i can't see the actual video but can only hear it??
    all help is greatly appreciated!
    thanks!

    hi there,
sorry for the delayed response. i actually had to call apple and unfortunately the fix wasn't that great. the project file was somehow corrupted - when i removed it from the iMovie program per their suggestion, the program and rest of the projects in it started working fine. their thought process was that sometimes when you're working in iMovie for too long without shutting it down/quitting, iMovie does not have the time to process the project files correctly, which is what could've messed up my project file. so i essentially needed to quit iMovie every once in a while to give it time to process the project. whether this is true or not i don't know, but it's the only answer they could give me. i actually had to remove the project and start all over! before removing the project though, i started a new one - you know how the event leaves a little orange or green line in the parts that have already been used and transferred into a project? i just followed those orange/green guidelines to get the clips i had previously chosen for the messed up project and put them into a new project. i then deleted the old messed up project that wouldn't play and everything has worked fine ever since. hope this helps a little!
