Messed up safari

i have accedentally trown away safari, and i cant find it on my ipod. does anyone now how i can reinstall safari without losing al my other data?

Two items:
- Is Safari on a scree you can't readily access? Try using the Spotlight Search feature (right-most home screen) to find Safari. If you find it move it to a more convenient location if you desire.
- You can hide/prevent use of Safari as one of the possible restrictions set on the iPod. To change restriction go to Setting>General>Restrictions. You need the passcode set to change restrictions.

  • I Messed Up Safari But Can't Seem to Re-Download It

I used Target Disk Mode to copy Applications from my desktop to my MacBook, which worked fine for the most part, but now Safari is really messed up. Doesn't really open; crashes immediately after a link is clicked in an e-mail. I've tried to re-download both Safari 4 beta (which I have on my desktop) and the most current Safari 3, but the files I get end in exe.part and my MacBook doesn't seem to know how to open them.
This is a real pain because Safari is my default browser for opening links in e-mails. My understanding is that to change the default browser (to Firefox, for example, I need to go into Safari --> Preferences, but I can't do that because Safari won't open enough for me to do that.
    How can I fix/re-download Safari?

Yes, the .exe does make it sound that way, but if that's the case, I think either Apple has messed up the links or I am stupid beyond all belief because I clicked on the download button for Leopard multiple times with the same result.
Also get the same result for both Safari 4 beta and 3 -- just can't believe I would be moronic enough to download the Windows versions all these times and places.

  • QuickTime updated messed up Safari !!!

Yesterday I updated my QuickTime plugin. But now not only am I unable to view Flash plugin sites with Safari, but I'm also unable to view them with Firefox.
I just get a big "Q" (QuickTime trademark) when I try to view a Flash etc. I'm really annoyed Apple are making updates that keep messing up computers. This never happened until 2 months ago. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem so I can continue view sites with Flash plugins.

Reinstalling Flash plugin tends no to work.
I got web browsers to show Flash based content again by removing one of the QuickTime plugins from the Internet-plugins folder.
    Thanks for the advice.

  • Third party app messes with safari and chrome any help?

The other day I downloaded GBA4 iOS on my iphone. It worked fine and I had no problems. A day later I was using safari and I was told safari can not identify the website so I went to details and I saw a false certificate for google : *.google.com. This is obviously an attempt at phishing and later the same thing happened with a false Facebook. So I am kind of worried. I haven't accepted any certificates yet. But I need help to fix this. I deleted the third party app and did a hard reboot but nothing any ideas?

Because that GBA app is unauthorised, and the developer has had his developer certificate revoked, you had to put the date back on your iPhone. Did you change it back again afterwards? If not, that is what is causing the problem.
The certificate requests you are getting are not fake. It's just that your phone thinks they are out of date because the date on your phone is set back.

  • Real Player messes up Safari

Using the latest version of Safari 4.04 and I was trying to listen to the audio streams on this page (http://www.walkwiththeking.org/audio.asp) and they were not working so I foolishly downloaded the latest version of Real Player (as I was using a version from 2008). Know I still cant listen to the audio of the page above, but also whenever I go to this website (http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/Backto_theBible/) I cannot listen to the real audio tab as I get a "plug-in not found" error message. The old version installed all worked fine. How can I UPGRADE back to the 2008 version of Real Player?
The latest version was installed as for some reason FireFox works like a charm on the page, yet FF has issues with the Windows Media plug-in while Safari does not, please dont ask me to explain it. So I keep 2 browsers for these hassles.
    John

The latest version of RealPlayer is 11.0.1 and that works with your links, although it takes a while for the audio to start up. Also, your system meets the requirements for that version.
So, something else if preventing you from hearing the audio. Did you close Safari before installing RealPlayer, as well as repair permissions after installing it?

  • Master Password appears to have messed up Safari and Keychain Access

    Hi!
I searched on my issue at length and perhaps I'm just ignorant, but I could not see an answer. So here goes...
My department has an internet site that requires a Certificate on Windows machines on the network, however you can also authenticate by entering your user name and password. I had entered my information, and saved the information in my Keychain.
Yesterday, I set the Master Password in System Prefs, however I did NOT turn FileVault on.
Today, I came to work and am on my work's network, just like normal. I went to a bookmark that is on the password protected site and I got a Keychain window asking for my FileVaultMaster password (or something like that). It was not looking for my login password for the Mac, rather the Master Password I set yesterday.
I entered the correct password, then I get the nasty page saying that the Page Requires and SSL Certificate.
So, I went to the Keychain Access and repair, but nothing needed repair. Emptied cache, same problem. I deleted the item in the Keychain, same problem. Deleted all saved passwords in Safari, same problem. Deleted all cookies, same problem.
So, I opened Firefox and I'm able to get in, but I can't in Safari.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?
    Thanks!

The software it installed asked for my system password and has taken upon itself to delete my airport and probably all the settings that went with it!
    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
This may not help, but I'd use the Network panel of System Preferences to create a new "Location" and add an AirPort connection item to that. (To create a new location, pull down the "Location" list and select "Edit Locations".) In the new location add an AirPort connection item and nothing else.) If that works, you would use location switching to alternate between mobile broadband an Wi-Fi connections. The easiest way to do that would be to use the "Location" item under the Apple menu.
For future reference, this discussion group section is intended for discussions of Apple's AirPort Extreme 802.11n base station. A better place for your post would probably have been in the "Getting Online and Networking" section of the "Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard" area.

  • Safari and my bank website

    hello,
I am currently using a OS X 10.4.2 (up to date as of saturday september 24) on my 1.8ghz imac. whenever i try to log into my bank website to check my balance, each time i do so, i am told "Your current session has expired. Press the 'Exit' button above to exit. NOTE: This may be caused by reloading or resizing your browser window.  Some browsers do not support window resizing in a secure session."
this happens everytime i try to log into my online bank account. i used to be able to log in previous to using tiger (been using tiger a week after it came out) but since the upgrade, the above message is all i get. using camino, firefox, icab, shiira and omniweb log me in just fine. i have not messed with safari settings, nor have i resized my browser window at all (or at any time).
anyone have an idea whats going on? i would love to get this problem corrected as i am military and in the field 4 days out of each week and need to have 24 hour access to my account for day to day business and for emergency situations. is anyone else experiencing this problem?

    Hi Ryan,
is anyone else experiencing this problem?
Who is the bank in question? Since I'm not based in the US it's unlikely I'll be able to help but at least other posters can confirm/deny they are having problems with your bank.

  • Safari Keychain Password

    Hello,
    My k0mp00ter skillz arent goodly.
I'm migrating over from IE to Safari, and everytime I look up, there's a pop up, asking for my keychain password. Well, I have no clue WTH it is. I dont ever remember messing with Safari to make a password. As of right now, Safari is letting me do whatever I need, but that **** pop up is annoying.
Is there a way to reset my Safari Keychain thingie, so I know for sure what my password is? Is there a way I can go digging in Macintosh HD to find the password. Should I shoot my Mac?
    Regards,
    Brian

    Hi Oly
did you do this, from the helper in keychainaccess
2nd option for safari keychain autofill:
    ( Deleting a keychain
If your keychain has become inaccessible for some reason (for example, if you've forgotten the password), you can delete it and manually create a new keychain.
When you delete the keychain, you have two options:
    ▪ Delete References removes the keychain from the keychain list but does not remove the keychain file from your disk. If you remember your password later, you can recover the items stored in the keychain by choosing File > Add Keychain and opening this file.
➔ ▪ Delete References & Files removes the keychain from the keychain
list and removes the file from your disk. You might choose this if the
file is corrupted or damaged in some way and you don't want to recover it
    1) Open Keychain Access, located in Applications/Utilities.
    2) Click Show Keychains if the keychain drawer is closed, then select the keychain you want to delete.
    3) Choose File > Delete "keychain" (the command will show the name of the selected keychain).
    4) Click Delete References or Delete References & Files. )
Also what happens if you Un-check "Autofill items in Safari preferences?
i have it off on both 10.3.9 & Tiger 10.4.4 on power book.
    let us know, Eme

  • Safari randomly closes?

Safari closes at random times. How do I fix this?

I'm not sure how to fix this. I have the same issue. It always occurs when I tell Safari to "open all links in tabs." Try to click on something in any of those tabs and Safari crashes. There are many discussions here on the subject. The most common solution is to remove anything in your library/InputManagers to see if third party apps are the issue. For me, this has not worked since I don't have any input managers. The second suggestion is to make sure you have the latest version of the Flash Player by Adobe. As for me, this doesn't work either since I do. I have removed Safari from my iMac including all traces of it (.plist files and such) and have completely reinstalled Safari from the Leopard disk. Still no luck. It crashes, crashes, crashes. Now, with the new security update that was released, I find that on some sites it will crash when filling out forms. Apple has a major mess with Safari. There are some fixes slated for the 10.5.2 release which is supposedly coming out the day MacWorld starts in January. Let's hope they fix Safari. I love Safari and its functionality, but this really, really needs to be addressed by Apple. I think the most frequent subject in this section is about Safari crashing all the time.

  • Safari & PDF

Where do I start. I use Safari on my work based Windows machine n- yuck! What a mess. Safari crashes every time I tryu to openm a PDF document. In fact sometimes (three times today) it just crashes - no warning just crashes. More often than not it happens if i leave it unattended for more than 10 minutes. Come on Apple win those Windows users with stability!!

I don't believe this is a Safari issue, but instead an issue with your installation of Windoze. You could just try downloading the PDF file to your Windoze Desktop and then using Adobe Reader to open it.

  • Fix for some safari unexpected quits

Hello all, Recently Safari on my computer has been quitting for no reason what so ever, I thought i had tried everything, and almost reinstalled OSX then I stumbled onto the fix, if safari is crashing alot for you try this, it might fix it.
    1. Go to a webpage that has alot of flash content http://www.macromedia.com/ works well If safari crashes when it loads the page this might fix your problem
    2. Go to Macintosh HD then Library then Internet Plug-Ins
    3. Delete the Flash Player Enabler.plugin, Flash Player.plugin, and flashplayer.xpt
    4. Open Firefox, (download it if you do not have it at http://www.getfirefox.com/)
    5. go to macromedia.com again, Firefox should tell you you need to download plugins and ask you if you want to do so, say yes or click ok or whatever and let Firefox install flash for you.
Now go back to Safari and everything should work perfectly, I dont know why this works, but something about the macromedia flash installer messes up Safari.
I hope this helps, I posted this because I know how obscure this seems, and most people would wind up reinstalling OS X, and then having a bad experience, and blaming it on the OS (like I almost did)
    ,Macattack

No, I'm on 10.4.5 (gotta change that) I did what the above post reccommended to no avail. Interestingly, Safari asked if I wanted to save the changes I made. Thing is, I didn't make any changes! (Could have been due to the Flash re-load) I did discover that my preferences had been changed, and that's why my keychains didn't work the way they have been. (Waiting to load is the first thing I checked) Anyway, this is the first time that I started Safari since those changes, so maybe that is the fix.
BTW, the trouble is that Safari quits unexpectedly and often. I noticed that this is often when I am loading Flash content. (which loads VERY slow on my fast connection) Now, as I mentioned above, it usually happens as I'm scrolling fast on a different page (fully loaded or not). I'm not sure if it happens when I'm not doing this, but this is how I've been getting it to fail on me to test it. I know, it's like the old joke: "Doc, it hurts when I do this!" "So, don't do that."

  • No youtube audioin safari for pc

there is not audio in safari, it plays the video but the audio its not working, and its only in safari because Itried with Chromo and it worked

    Hi
Same issue here ! this happened after the update i did to OSX 10.7.5 and with it  the safari update last week !! Untill then all was fine.
Well the simple solution is to work with firefox or crome and they work really well , even the buffering speeds are 100% better.
Hope apple admits the mess on Safari like they have on the IOS 6 maps and give a solution too !!

  • Sorry I do not know how to use this right.. my safari bar has no place to view choices..how can I choose view?

Thank you b noir for the answer Start off with your Menu Bar showing. There is no menu bar showing. only thing on top is a pair of glasses, open book, tiles, Apple, News, Yahoo, Google, Youtube... above that is my name with facebook and that is it... no drop down box or any place to go to click on anything to bring up anything.
I cannot get into the safari to make any changes and even if I did...I do not know what to do. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall the entire safari and all of the settings it has now? If I can do that, then I would just re install it ... as is now, I removed Safari then re installed and it was the same as the messed up safari I just removed.
    thank you yakay

Click on the gear icon on the top left of your window.
    Select Show Menu Bar.

  • Safari crashing on startup ... any chance someone can check my crash log

    Hiya guys
Did something silly - was playing with Safari Speed, which appears to have messed up Safari.
Wish I hadn't now as I've spent hours hunting the net to work out how to fix the problem. I'm hoping someone here a bit more technically minded might be able to look at my crash log and work out what I've done and suggest some solutions.
I've tried clearing the inputmanagers folder, also clearing the cookies.plist but with no success.
Many thanks in advance - my hair is going grey at the thought I'd have to use something other than Safari to browse with!!!!

    Hi Chris,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions! :o)
Have you tried to see if Safari exhibits the same behaviour in a newly-created user account?
There seems to be two instances of third-party applications in your crashlog - Audio Hijack and ShapeShifter. The latter's specific only to your user account, so if the problem ceases in a newly-created account, try moving that out of the ~/Library/Application Enhancers/ folder. If the problem persists in the new account, try also moving Audio Hijack from the /Library/Application Enhancers/ folder (which is located subsidiary to your hard drive volume and not your home folder).
Hope these steps help you get closer to the root of the problem.
    Yang
