Meta chain hang because of debugging

A user debug the chain in production system. Unfortunately, she receive a runtime error and now, the chain is hanging and cannot be trigger by other user. We need to some how put it in cancel status or just let it run so the user can use the process chain again.
Please help Sap experts on how to put it in cancel or finished status. Thanks in advance!

I have a problem on one of our Meta chain . We have a meta chain , and it have some sub chains . It is a daily scheduled meta chain.
One day some thing happened and one of the sub chain begun to hang on . One of the sub chain of meta Chain I see Yellow light, which means on process . But while I enter into this sub chain I see nothing processed . Meta chain finish previous chain but besides nothing .
I tried to remove this sub chain from schedule , I tried to reactivate , and to schedule again , but all of my attems didn't solve anything . All of them get an short dump because of maximum time
I need your helps .

I guess u already got so many solutions and none of them working try these out.....
1.Try activating the chain ...is there some issue in that??
2.Now go to the top...menu..execution tab...remove from schedule...Now schedule again...
3.If you want to run the chain immediately...after doing remove from schedule go to the start variant and change the option as start immediately.
Since the chain is not triggering ,moving forward after start variant then may be the load on the system is too much or else the chain has activation issues...

When i try to sinc the song " chain hang low...

Whenever i try to sync th song to my ipod, which i bought off of the itunes store,
a messege box appears and says
the song "chain hang low" wa snot downlaoded to your ipod because it cannot be downloaded to it.
hmmmm.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN and what should i do to make it work?

Did you authorize the song by playing for a few seconds on your computer?

Local Chain Multiple times in a Meta Chain

Hi,
I have a scenario in which I have to call the same local chain multiple times in a Meta Chain.
The system is not allowing me to add the same local chain in my meta chain more than two times.
System is throwing the below message:
Diagnosis
The link that you made between process CHAIN ZREBATE_LOAD and process CHAIN ZREBATE_LOAD is a reverse connection, because process CHAIN ZREBATE_LOAD already precedes CHAIN ZREBATE_LOAD in the chain.
System response
This kind of connection is not supported.
Procedure
Schedule a copy of process CHAIN ZREBATE_LOAD behind CHAIN ZREBATE_LOAD.
Can anyone tell if there is a way to call the same local chain multiple times in a meta chain WITHOUT making a copy of the local Chain?
I understand that if I make a copy of my local chain it will allow me to add it multiple times in the meta chain.

It is just that I see every other thread has that line at the bottom (unfortunately never saw anyone get a bashing on that)....will keep it in mind.
Well, coming to what I am trying to achieve...here is the scenario:
I have a chain where a table is being read and the data gets loaded for the quarter date in that table (table has quarter dates in it e.g.: 01012007 to 03312007). At one point the table has ONLY one entry for one quarter.
Now, the requirement is to load data data for two years (i.e. 8 quarters).
In order to automate, I have written a small program to update that table with the dates of next quarter. I have added this program as the last step in my chain.
Now, I have created a meta chain in which I want to call my local chain (8 times) so that all the quarters get loaded automaticaly.
I am able to call my local chain 2 times in the meta chain and it works exactly the way I want it to run. However, system is not letting me add my local chain more than 2 times.
I am getting the message that I mentioned in my thread.
I understand that if I make 8 copies of my local chain, the system will allow me to add those 8 chains in my meta chain.
My question is if there is a way to add a local chain multiple times (say 8 times) in the same meta chain WITHOUT making copies of the local chain.

Right click on the green block, from where the next block is not triggering. Take the variant and instance value.
Goto table RSPCPROCESSLOG and give the variant and instance value as input. Check the state field value. It should be G (i.e. successfully completed) then only next block will be triggered.
If you want to start next block manually, goto function module RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH, give i_logid, i_type, i_variant and i_instance values from RSPCPROCESSLOG table and enter i_state value as G.
After executing the function module, next block of the process chain will automatically start.

Unschedule Local Process chain from meta chain

Hi There,
We have a meta chain, in which there are several local chains one for each process area. Due to a transport I have to unschedule one local chain and let the other local chains run. Please let me know what is best way to do it?

Hi.
You can maintain the start variant of the local chain and switch it to Direct Scheduling. You can leave it in the "Master" chain and let that one run normally, however, your local chain will fail and no following chain will be triggered. So this approach could only be used if your local chain is a dead-end.
I would consider making a copy and delete the local chain. Then run this one. Make the copy either right in production, because it is an exception anyway, or in development and transport to prod. Switch to running the copy in either case and switch back to original chain and delete the copy (again either straight in prod or in dev and transport the deletion).

Meta Chain Issue

Hi All,
I have some meta chains in the process chain and all of the meta chains are triggered using-
"Start using Meta Chain or API"
Its evident that, once we triggerr the start varinat in the main chain the rest of meta chains get triggered. In our case one particular meta chain is not getting triggered at all. But the rest have gone fine. In the process chain Log view, its staying in yellow for a long time and in SM37, the job is getting cancelled.
the message I got in Log view, at the time the meta chain gets triggered is, "Process chain variant is ZA******** is not scheduled waiting for event RSPROCESS 4A******"
I have tried all the possibilities of "Repeat, Kill the process in SM51"
Can you please advise, the solution for this.

hi,
right click on that meta chain yu will reach the planning view there in change selcetion icon .. you set the setting to immediate and remove the tick for perodic and then schedule it ..

Process chain hangs due to locks in SM12

We are currently experiencing issues when executing the process chains. The process chain hangs at one or more DTP loads without executing the following step even though the DTP load is successfully complete (Green). Upon research found that the system locks in SM12 are not released for these DTP loads which is causing the process chain to hang.
Once I delete the lock manually, the process chain continues with the subsequent steps. This is painful during night time loads and hence am wondering if you guyz are aware of a fix for this problem.
FYI, we our system is BI 7.0 and SP 13. Any leads towards the solution are highly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
Basically all chains are same, but if you click on Start it will goto Start Process Screen there you can find Scheduling Options, in that Direct Scheduling is selected so it is Main Chain (Meta Chain), if it is Starting using Meta Chain API is selected then it is local chain in that meta chain.
Note: Basicall all Chains are same based on above differnecce you can find it.
By Looking at Chain we can decide it is it Meta chain or Norma Chain, if you open RSPC and then Open any Chain If it is having
Start-->Local , then it is Meta Chain and Local is Norma Chain.

Query regarding meta chain in SAP BI

Hi can any body solve the problem on this Meta chain in SAP BI..
There is a meta chain which holds three process chains say N1,N2,N3. in a sequential order.
Now here as soon as the meta chain is triggered the process chain N1 is executed properly and is is in green..but after this the next process chain N2 is not getting triggered..can anybody tell me the reason for that??

Dear Suman,
To initiate the mails we first need to have SMTP connection. To check the same go to so00 and try sending mails to ur ID. If is successful it states that u have the SMTP access.
To create mails to Process chains:
Right Click on the Process varient select the Create Message in the context menu.
Select the type of mail i.e for successful, Error, Anyways.
Then follow the screens.
Note: The recipient type should be Via Internet.

Failed meta chain maintenance in Process chain in SAP BI

Hi all,
I have a Process chain having the meta chain of master data population.When successful , proceeds with the further steps in process chain. It has been scheduled in midnight.
After monitoring the PC , found the error in the master meta chain , so i repeat the step.
Here , after success of meta chain all steps gets running down the line till the end step in PC.
I do not want to re-run the steps below meta chain after repeat step.
Any Ideas to ignore the re-run ??

Hi,
If your Process is still running(Yellow color status) then right click it and go to Schduled Jobs. On this you will go to Job Overview there you can press STOP.
Else go to the SM37, there you can go and select your process using your process ID and STOP it.
And if you want to kill the complete process chain then go for Remove from Schedule.
Different Ways to stop process chain
1)SM37 -->Kill Job
2)SM50/sm66- ->Kill process
3)RSPC>Job Log>Make the process RED forecefully.
4)RSPC>Process chain> main Menu"Remove from Scheduling" OR
5)se37-->RSPC_API_CHAIN_INTERRUPT
give RFC BW system name(technical) and process chain name(technical)
Steps 1 -3 stops the chain running in process
Steps 4-5 stops the chain AFTER the current job which is running is completed as sucessful or Failure by nature.

I have listed below the major informatin neede for your requirement...
1.Go to RSPC to view all the chains.
2.There click on any chain which you want to run/view.
3.Click on the log view(shift+F1) to view all the previous runs of the chain and whether they have failed or successful(here you can select 1 day,week ,month etc in the display range)
4.If you want to modify the chain /add a process type /change the variant then click (Ctrl+F9) and do the changes.
Even you can change the start variant in change mode for manual scheduling>right click on start process typeselect display variant--now select start Direct Scheduling/ API or Metachain
under direct scheuling option you can trigger it by setting start immediately /Date-time/After job/event whatever you want to do
Else you can make it part of a Metachain consisting of different such small local process chains.
Now Click on Schedule (F8) to run this chain manually.
5.For Monitoring use Tcodes SM37/RSPCM/SM50
Also you can use BWCCMS.
I usually prefer sm37 to view all the background jobs but SM50 is also useful.
6.debug loop can be used to debug a process chain.(you have to specify here the gap between one event been triggered and the next subsequent process starting)
to capture process in debugger go to SM37(job overview) or to SM50(process overview)

There is no where used list for Process chain, but you can check it in table RSPCCHAIN.
Give details as below:
Version is 'A'.
Process Type is 'CHAIN'.
Process Variants = 'enter technical name of the local chain'.
now hit execute button.
You can see the list of process chains under Chain ID column.
