The code you show *already* has a keywords and description
    META tag in
place. So - what is your question? You would either modify
    the currently
existing ones or replace them with new ones. And the keywords
    meta is
pretty useless as has already been suggested.

  • How to add meta tags and keywords, I cannot find a way to do that

Does somebody know how can I add content and keywords to my website dome with I web?
It seems it is important for search engines to find it!

Content is what you add to your page. The visible part your visitors can see.
Keywords have to be added with [a META tag in the HEAD|http://www.google.com/search?q=meta%20tag%20head] of the webpage. That cannot be done in iWeb. You have to edit the published pages with a HTML Editor of your choice.
It's debatable whether these keywords have any impact on being found by a Search Engine.
    Provide good content.

How long has it been since you submitted the site to Google. It wont show up overnight. Might take a few days or a few weeks.
Also I see only one h3 tag on the page? Why no h1 or h2 tags. Spider sees these tags as more important.
Also depends what search term you are using - it shows up near the top in Google with these search phrases:
    Healthy Mind Therapies Beacon Hill
    Thought field therapy Beacon Hill
    So not too bad.
Also your images have no alt="" tag. Google spider reads those so make the most of them. Try inserting your header.png in an <h1></h1> tag and then use some descriptive text on the alt tag(see below)
    <h1><a href="http://www.serenemind.com.au"><img src="images/AHG_Web_header.png" width="700" height="200" border="0" alt="Insert some descriptive text about the site here"></a></h1>
You also need to get listed in as many good free web directories as possible. The more incoming links to your site the better Google will view it and might place it higher up the rankings.

  • How do I add Meta tags to my website

I have produced a website in i web and published it to my .mac account.
I need to know how to add meta tags to get it recognised by the search engines.
The company I am using to do this want the ftp info. As I upload directly to my .mac account I am not sure what they need. Can you help please?

I think I may have a good workaround here, not sure how it will work with .mac as I dont use it, I am in control of my default page within Apache.
Create your site as normal within Iweb and publish it.
Outside of iWeb create your site's real default homepage by hand, that contains the meta tags and that redirects to your iWeb homepage. In this way any Search engine hits to your site will hit the external page first, reading the meta tags then get redirected to your real home page. Not ideal of course but at least you don't have to keep an eye on your metatag's being overwritten by republishing your homepage.
Here is the code from mine, it appears to work:
    +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://+
    +www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></t+
    +itle><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url= Welcome.html" />+
    +<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="enter,your,keywords,here">
    +<META NAME="description" CONTENT="description of your website">+
    </head><body></body></html>
This page will redirect to the "Welcome.html" page created in iWeb.
    Hope this helps.

  • Meta Tags:  How to Paste into iWeb pages?

I created Meta Tags on Go Daddy. I'm not really sure what Meta Tags are, but I understand they help my web site with keywords and search engines. Here's the Meta Tag codes I created (appears to be three codes).
<title>Dana Point Bodycentre for gift certificates massage skin care body treatments</title>
<meta name="description" content="Dana Point Bodycentre offers gift certificates, gift centre, day spa services for massage, skin care, body care, body treatments, medical skin care, botox, laser hair removal, med spa services and specials">
<meta name="keywords" content="Dana Point, Bodycentre, massage, skin care, gift ideas, gift certificates, gift centre, holiday, specials, book online, instant gift certificates, botox, medical skin care, laser hair removal, med spa, therapist, boutique, retail">
Go Daddy says to "paste the Meta Tag into the Header of my page." I don't understand what they mean by that. I asked them for more help, but they won't help me any further. I need to know exactly where to paste these codes? I created these codes for my Home page, so I suppose the codes go into the .HTML file, or the .file for the web folder. But where? On the .HTML file, when I open it up in Text Wrangler, I see a lengthy text of codes. Where do I paste these codes? And what is the "header" of my page mean?

NOTE 1: about Meta-Tags and Search engine optimization:
Some time ago you could "feed" search engines with words by putting them in the meta tags. Nowadays search engines ignore those tags (probably due to spamming) and only look at the content.
I never did any Meta Tags and it seems to me that my site works fine without Meta Tags on google... Google include PageTitle and PageContent and it works great without any optimisation. Another issue with Meta Tags on iWeb now is that if I publish to a folder I can add MetaTags with text editor but next time I publish to a folder iWeb will overwrite that file and Meta Tags are gone... I then would have to make them all over again... Time... Time... Time...
Bottom line: I see no need for Meta Tags
But people reading this... You're free to decide by your own... it's up to you...
    *5 TIPS:*
    -Update your sitemaps
-Make a second nav bar made of text links as previously explained
-Further use synonyms in your content. Write your content so that it fits as good as possible everything a 'googler' could search for.
-Search engines don't look for tags, they look for the content of your pages.
-In the end it’s all about three things: Content, Content and Content

  • Edit Microsoft Sharepoint Meta Tags of PDF File inside Adobe Acrobat

    Hi,
we are using in our company Microsoft Sharepoint for Document Management. In this System we have several Document Libraries where we upload our PDF Files.
In Microsoft Office 2007 it is possible to change the Meta Data of a Office File directly inside e.g. Word. This is very handy for the user, cause he is able to read or change his document and make changes to the meta tags at the same time.
    Now my question:
Is it possible (perhaps with an 3rd Party AddIn) to show a "Panel" inside Adobe Acrobat which shows these Sharepoint Meta Tags and makes it possible to change these?
    regards

  • Meta tag error in site created by dreamweaver

I recently checked my site www.bestical.com at The W3C Markup Validation Service and there are error in it
but  added all the meta tags by standard Dreamweaver tools
    so which one is wring?

Short answer:  You're using an HTML5 doc type which has a different set of specs for valid meta tags and other HTML syntax.
    Introduction to HTML
    Where you have this:
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="fa">
Language must be expressed in the <html> tag like this:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="fa">
    <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
For more on HTML5 specifications, see the W3Schools site above.

Yeah. Meta tags have almost NO effect on page ranking or

  • Meta tags or descriptions

Are Meta tags or descriptions the best way for your website to get picked up by Google, Bing, & Yahoo?  Or do you have to pay them for better results?  Thanks!

Since some months I use "Dublin Core Metadata".
    Here the link: http://www.metatags.info/dublin_core_metadata_element_set
On the other hand – what concerns "Olde Worlde Lace's “that neither it nor this forum  say much about“ there was a very interesting thread here in the forum about SEO, which I remember.
    1) Fully understand your markup language.
    2) Work first BEFORE anything on CONTENT not on black hat "tricks" and or on white hat inbound links.
    3) Expand the content so that you become an authority on the subject of the keyword phrases you wish to appear well ranked for.
4a) Avoid the error of going all over the internet looking for the "ONE WAY TO SUCCESS" posts. There is NO such thing. Google does not rank all sites and blogs by the same values. Some are simply in the top ten for middle to complex keywords and keyword phrases because of their AGE and the AUTHORITY factor (that they contain original content with good outbound links WHILE OTHER BLOGS AND SITES are listed in the top ten ON REGIONAL search because of inbound links (example: You are better ranked on Google.FR if you have FRENCH blogs from FRENCH servers linking to you as well as being yourself hosted on a FRENCH dot fr domain or a in France hosted dot com). And there are certain pages which are ranked simply by the volume of search requests for that page. And then there are others which appear and remain in the top ten because they are rated by Google with what is called PageRank .... and on and on.
In other words before you end up getting depressed and giving in to purchasing Adwords (sponsored links) try the following:
4b) Set a routine. Make this routine involve an hour at least per day to UPDATING and EXPANDING your content. Use PDF files (learn how to optimize meta tags and onpage PDF alt text and Accessibility). Expand with images which have BEFORE YOU UPLOAD THEM been right clicked to add (on your computer) meta information to the image files. Make sure to name your image info TRUTHFULLY (Google can read the content of images) so do not call it PARIS HILTON and ME unless it is a photo of you and Paris. Use the "+" sign between keywords. Per example if indeed it is a picture of you with Paris Hilton in Saint Tropez in the summer of 2008 then you might wish to name the image: YourFullnameInOneword+ParisHilton+SaintTropez+France+2008.jpg - note that some image formats do not allow for meta tags. Also be aware that as soon as you start tagging your images these keywords will be READ BY THE ROBOTS as they crawl your markup - so DO NOT SPAM your image titles and have DIFFERENT image tittles. Also place your images in a 2 deep folder system on your server AND ALWAYS LINK TO THE IMAGE WITH THE FULL URI / URL.
4c) Next spend a few hours reading a good BOOK about SEO. There are several. The best I have found is by DAVID VINEY and called "Get to the Top on Google" (Published by Nicholas Brealey Publishing - London, Boston). This book will give you tips and techniques to get your site to the of the search engine rankings and stay there. Also read the archives of Vanessa Fox's Blog - www.ninebyblue.com/blog/ (HGD now > http://www.ninebyblue.com/blog/seo/).
    5) Set your objective to 3 keywords or keyword phrases per page.
    6) Start to NAME YOUR PAGES with your keywords and name your folders as well - but try to do this ALL in small letters with dashes between words.
    7) Install Google Webmaster Tools.
    8) Make and add a XML sitemap and update this on Google Webmaster Tools. (And get Google Analytics)
    9) Start to seek IN THE TEXT BODY PageRank 5 and higher "follow links"
(see here info about NOFOLLOW links on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nofollow).
    10) Take a break and start again - the key to success is WORK. Nothing else will give you lasting success as honest effort.
    11) ... and as Nancy O. said: only a short time ago: patience!

  • Online .pdf documents, meta tags; title, keywords, descriptions. search engines

    Hi. In DW 8.0.
I searched the forums for this but was unable to find the answer.
I would like to have meta tags in my .pdf files that are on the web.
When someone does a search for one of them in Google or Yahoo!, it reads the title in a bizarre upper & lower case letter pattern under the search results page.
    "ExaMPLe SAMple tiTLE"
Correct me if I am wrong, but Google creates source code for .pdfs so others can search for them, but I do not understand why the title looks the way it does.
I was hoping by changing the title meta tag in the actual .pdf using Acrobat would solve this, but I am waiting to see if this will work.
Does anyone know of a better way of changing/adding the meta tags to an online .pdf document?
    Thanks.

    PDF is a print document.
    HTML is a web document.
AFAIK, meta tags are found only in web documents.
Soluiton would be to convert your PDFs to HTML pages and use your own meta tags and titles.

  • Keyword Meta Tag Text Box

I use Dreamweaver 8 and read there is a "text box" similar to
the one for description on the toolbar for adding keywords.
This was in the help section of Dreamweaver 8 as follows:
    Setting Keywords properties
Many search-engine robots (programs that automatically browse
the web gathering information for search engines to index) read the
contents of the Keywords meta tag and use the information to index
your pages in their databases. Because some search engines limit
the number of keywords or characters they index, or ignore all
keywords if you go beyond the limit, it’s a good idea to use
    just a few well-chosen keywords.
Enter your keywords, separated by commas, in the text box
    labeled Keywords.
Where on the tool bar is this located or how do you get it on
the toolbar? I have searched but must be missing something.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Don
    The Glass Cottage

That information is flawed. The major search engines (with
    the possible
exception of Yahoo) do not use keywords at all.
Try INSERT | HTML > Head Tags > Meta Keywords.
