METADAT in SAP LSO Authoring Environment

Hi,
Can i know the importance and use of metadata in Authoring Environment in SAP LSO.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Piscian
The basic concept of any matadata is to provide Data for the data provided.
In LSO AE the Metadata helps to give two categories of data Internal and External although it is not mandatory to fill all the information on it, the more information you provide on the matadata fields the more better the maintenance of the data and helps in good and faster search for the content from the CMS.
If the content for E learning is more in no.,  various versions and multiple content designer working on it its better to maintain matadata.

  • Use Citrix to deploy LSO Authoring Environment on PC

    Gurus:
Is that possible to use Citrix to deploy Authoring Environment on PCs?
If so, would you please give some details about how to do it?
    Thanks!

How is this a SAP related question?...  Anyhow... I never used citrix to distribute software and I don't thinks is its intended porpuse?...
I'm not sure but have you checked if this can be done via a SAP frontend installation server package?

  • LSO---- Authoring Environment----Error when synchronizing the objectives

    Hi All
I am getting this error  when i am creating  new learning objectives in Authoring environment.
""A fatal error occurred when synchronizing the off-line objectives catalog with online catalog""
    Any advises????
    Regards
    Rajya

    Hi
Authorizations is one issue. First try with authorization.
If you have a Learning Portal Installed, you will also find this problem there. In that case, tell your Basis Admin to check the RFC connection.

  • LSO Authoring Environment -- Create new essay type Item

    Hi,
In Authoring Environment, how can we create Items with Essay Type answers(free text answers). Authoring Environment provides 5 types of Items as of now, MC item, MR item, MR Explicit, Fill-In item and Rating but we have a requirement to create Questions which allows Learners to enter Essay type answers. We planned to use the Fill-In item for this purpose, but it allows only few Characters to enter. Is there a configuration / Badi to increase the allowed Characters in the Fill-In item.
    Regards
    Sanjai

    Hi
I hope, you have created your new Item category by copying the existing Item category in standard .
I feel that , you have not copied the Item category properly.
So, you need to delete the copied Item category and create a new one as below.
Select the Item category you want to copy (VOV7).
Choose "copy as" > rename the item category in the next screen > click enter.
A pop-up will come,"is it relevant for coying" > click "yes".
Now, you will get the message in the status bar that one item is copied.
Here, do not leave the screen, it has not copied completely.
In this screen click on "save" button and wait. You get a pop-up box "maintain table view" > click "continue" .
Now only your Item category is correctly copied.
From your postings, I feel , problem is in copying the Item category.
If you have followed like above, then problem may be in copying control.

  • SAP LSO a Ehp7 level - content player

    Hello Everybody,
I have a question about LSO content player. What are the file formats that LSO content player accepts? HTML5/Flash any other? I have been searching for info on this but could not find any definitive info so far.
then if I have a non-sap elearning tool that generates WBT content can I use that content within SAP LSO content player to be used within LSO specific WBT courses? Have you ever come across such a situation? If yes can you please provide any pointers/gotchas or share your experience please?
    Thanks everybody
    c.

    G'day Sid,
thanks for your reply mate ... I did go through the note you mentioned before I put this post up,..
can you please explain what "if correctly authored" means? my client has got a non-sap elearning tool which delivers training content. The requirement is to take this content and use it in LSO for web based trainings.
My understanding to achieve the above is:
    1. You get LSO content player.(without the lso authoring environment)
    2. You have a content server on which you put the training content.
    3. you have a course type of WBT which can be scheduled to use the elearning content.
    4. an attendee to the course will be able to play this course through ess-NWBC, via the content player.
    5. lso then keeps track of the training progress and does an automatic follow-up.
    My assumptions are:
    1. at ehp7 level I do not need to worry about the authoring environemnt or publishing bit in LSO
    2. content player will work via nwbc.
    3. do i need offline content player? I think not right?
Thanks so much mate for all the help you keep giving here in scn. Life would definitely be difficult on this site without you around. :-)
    cheers
    c.

  • Help on setting up SAP LSO on ECC6 with EP

    Hi fellow SAPians,
I would really appreciate if I can receive help on this.
We're currently exploring the SAP Discovery Server. I understand that
SAP Learning Solution has taken over Training Management. Can I ask if
the image provided comes with Learning Portal, Content Player and
Authoring Environment? If they do, may I know how I can activate them
so that they can be displayed in portal? Is there any complete and comprehensive Step by Step SAP LSO 600 documentation that helps? All I could find were for
    versions 100, 200 and 300.
I've tried the below pages but they can't be displayed:
    http://server:ITSport/sap/bc/bsp/sap/hcm_learning/leso.htm
    - Prompted for user ID to Web Application Server (ERP)
    http://server:j2eeport/lms/mediator/config
    - Page not found
Also, may I know if Learning Portal, Content Player and Authoring
Environment comes as standard with ECC6 and EP7?
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Damien

    Hi Damien,
I do not believe that SAP Discovery Server will have much on Learning Solution. You would not have the Content Player or Authoring Environment.
Much of the LSO 600 documentation is found in service.sap.com. Go to https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/support
Select Release & Upgrade Info/Installation & Upgrade Guide. Under Installation & Upgrade Guides select SAP Business Suite Applications-SAP ERP-SAP ERP 6.0---Installation.
You will find some guides for LSO Authoring Environment, Content Player & Offline Player.
Since LSO 6.00 is part of ERP 6.0 (or ERP 2005), there are additional information in the installation guides under there that you will need to consult.
Additionally, you should consult https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/learningsolution. Under media library, you will find information on the Training management portion of LSO, the Authoring Environment and Learning Portal. There is a Configuration Guide there that is also very useful.
The Learning Portal is included in ECC 6.0. The Content Player which is a Java application needs to be installed separately as well as the Authoring Environment which is a desktop (client) application. But you should confirm with your SAP Account Executive about licenses for using LSO (there is/was a user and author license).
The SAP Enterprise Portal is an optional component and is not part of LSO per say. Customers can run the Learning Portal in their own intranet as the Learning Portal pages are just BSPs that sit in ERP (ECC) and can be accesses via a URL.
You can include the Learning Portal page in the EP using a delivered iView which is really pretty much empty since the pages come from ERP.
If this helps, don't forget to allocate the points.
    Cheers,
    Danielle

  • SAP LSO Queries on Portal and Authoring Environment

    Hi Gurus,
We are in the Process of implementing SAP LSO in ECC 6.0 environment.
Can the gurus give some pointers on the following quries:
    Portal / Authoring Environment:
    1. How does the Collaboration Functionality Work in LSO Portal? Can you provide me a pointer for any documents or links the configuration and set up.
    2. I tried to install the LSOAE 6.00 in my PC. The Installation was successful but I am not able to open the application. I already have JDK 1.4.2 on my PC. Is there anything else that I need to do for opening the application?
    3. Can we link a PPT directly from the CMS without using the Authoring Environment? If so can you provide me the details on how this can be set up. ( Will the WBT functionality work without the Authoring Environment in SAP LSO).
    Please provide information.
    Thanks and Regards,

No you can't do that, U need to publish any content form AE only. So that u can update the Publisher Database.
Manually u can have the content in CMS, but no tag to it for SAP or in AE. Repository

  • Authentication Query- SAP Authoring Environment connectivity to Portal KM

    Hi,
We have to use SAP Authoring Environment tool to upload the LSO training content into Portal.
We installed, configured and connected to the Portal KM using AE successfully.
We noticed one thing after connecting to the Repository Explorer in AE, system prompts to enter the user id and password for ECC system. After supplying right ECC user details system directly showing the Portal KM Master Repository content without asking to enter the Portal user id and password.
Can anyone share how can we see the Portal KM Master Repository content without supplying the Portal user details?
    Thanks
    Phani

    Thanks for your response.
No, it is not anonymous portal.
If you try to open the same portal url outside the AE, system prompts the user to enter user id and pwd.
But if it is inside AE, as I mentioned earlier after giving ECC user details and click on OK button system directly showing the Portal KM Master Repository without asking Portal user id and pwd.
    Thanks

  • Authoring Environment Tutorial or SAP Class

    Hi ,
In order to learn the details of Authoring Environment ( LSO 300 or LSO 600 ) , what is the best ? SAP class HR270: SAP Learning Solution Overview, seems the only class were Authoring Environment is presented , is HR270 a good class (enough detailed) ?
Or if somebody as a link to Authoring Environment  tutorial, that will be also welcome .
    Thank you .

Sorry - not sure I understand the second half of your question.
Basically, if the test is 3rd party and SCORM compliant, then 'Pass/Fail' results will be passed to the backed ERP tables.  If the provider puts results in the 'suspend data' field, you will be able to report on those with a custom report.
If the test is created in the AE using the testing tool, then results should be passed to the backend (pass/fail and test item stats) as long as the test is not a 'self-test' (must be a pre-test/post-test or stand-alone test.)  And if you require passing of the post-test to pass the class, then you can inhibit the learner from receiving a qual.  Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Sharon

I'm running the Authoring Environment on a 64-bit Windows 7 PC.
I've tried to publish/check-in with the following versions of the Java SDK:
    1.4.2 Update 13
1.4.2 Update 19 (the latest in 1.4.2 with a Windows installer available)
6 Update 14 (a colleague is using this version successfully with the AE)
    6 Update 23
Each of those were the 32-bit versions after trying a 64-bit version of one (based on my PC's OS) and getting an unrelated 64-bit error.
I would appreciate any experience or wisdom any other users here have to share.
    Thanks!

It was an adjustment we made on our ISA 2006 server. Under
    1. Open Array - Configurarion - General
    2. Select Additional Security Policy - Configure Flood Mitigation
    3. On the Flood Mitigations Tab, there are a number of flood mitigation settings that can be configured.
The setting we had to adjust is under the "Maximum HTTP requests per minute per IP address (Click on Edit)
Increase the  "Limit:"  setting. We set it to 1500 which resolved our problem.
    4. Apply the policy and wait for the configuration to be updated on all array members ( may take several minutes)

    Answer:
    Hi
    Sorry for the delay:
We only installed LSO 200 and now we are upgrading to LSO 600.  I am not sure if it is all the same.  I do not know of tables that is updated with the learning net info; according to me it is only on the server and Content Manager.
When you release a learning net, it gives you an option to tick a box to publish it after the release; see below:

Hello, I use the SAP Learning Solution - Authoring Environment . I have created courses are available in other tools. The course is SCORM format. Importing is not a problem. The course includes the control questions. My question is. Can I use the setting to monitor progress in this course, it is only imported into this and presented on the portal. Authoring Environment enables intervention in this course? Set to be obliged to go through all the pages? Thanks for the reply.
