i need to include a image containing metadata into database
and at the same time i need to view and edit the metadata. can
anybody suggest me how it is done.
i used xml as a medium to exchange the files using cold

  • Importing metadata from Microsoft Excel or Access to Adobe Bridge CC metadata

I'm trying to figure out how to batch import a substantial amount of metadata in Microsoft Excel or Access to the IPTC core fields in Adobe Bridge CC. I've seen the issue discussed, but many of the posts about it are six or seven years old. So here are the simplest statement of the questions:
    1. Is it possible to export data from Excel or Access to XMP and then batch-import it in Adobe Bridge CC?
    2. If it requires templates, are there commercial, shareware, or freeware templates that will achieve this?
    3. If so, what are the links to those repositories?
    4. Is there a set of step-by-step instructions to achieve this on PC and/or Mac?
    5. What are the links to those instructions?
Thanks in advance for your help. I've used Bridge from CS1... but I've never used it for batch-importing to IPTC.

    Well,
it works for me without problems.
Some information on my setup and what I did:
    - my primary browser language is English (en-us)
    1) Save the data in a file called hardware.txt:
    SERIAL,HOSTNAME,ITEM_TYPE,BRAND,MODEL,OWNER,STATUS
    AEP016136,d2vmrw61,Laptop,Dell,m71,Gary Cleary,Active
    AEP016169,dhj3b71,Desktop,Dell,Dimension 4700,Unassigned,Active
AEP016170,cn-0g8432-64180-52p-1yts,Monitor,Dell,E193FP,Unassigned,Active2) Load the data (Load text data) into an existing table by uploading a file:
    - File: hardware.txt
    - Separator: , (comma)
    Worked fine.
    3) Load the data (copy /paste spreadsheet data into an existing table):
    - Open the file hardware.txt in Excel and import it into the spreadsheet
    - copy all three lines and paste them into the textarea in XE (the difference is that the columns are no longer separated by commas but by tabs)
    Worked fine as well.
Please try the above mentioned steps and see whether you still get the error.

  • Importing to Discussion Board Post from legacy source

    Hi All,
Im sure im not the first to wonder or ask this question but here it goes.
We have recently moved out intranet to SharePoint 2013. We have rebuilt from the ground up using many of the out of box solutions as well as some third party apps and web parts however these is one aspect that is stumping us.
On our old intranet we use a SQL based forum/discussion board package which has
about ten years worth of posts, surveys, Q&As etc. As it is SQL based it is very easy for use to query and pull this legacy data however
we cannot find a way to import into SharePoint. We do not expect to import it all but would like to import at leas the last 12 months of submitted
data with at least basic fields like Title, description/content, tags, post date and post user. We do not mind other metadata being striped out like voting etc.
We have dug deep into the SharePoint database files to see if we can directly insert but
it is very complex and almost certainly not supported. We was also hoping for a discussion board data list view so we could bulk cut and paste. This is not ideal but would at least be a better option than manually inserting each post.
Does anybody have an idea where to start if at all possible.

All this means is that the rendering is slowed down by something in the design of the website. If it is a thread with over 500 posts, you probably will have difficulty viewing it, unless you have a high speed internet connection with low latency, enough hard disk space to cache the files, and/or view threads in tree mode. To use Tree mode, go to My Settings, and select Tree View under Topic Page View in the General SEttings.

  • Outgrowing iPhoto? I want more metadata options

I use PSE 8 for my external editing program and iPhoto '09. This setup is great for what I do. At least until now, as I feel I may be outgrowing iPhoto. I'm wanting to add more information to metadata file info. I have keywords, but I would like to input additional info such as copyright, author, email, etc information. When I choose "view extended file info" in iPhoto, it is still limited in what it shows you and what you can input.
I have used demo's of LR3 and Aperture and am comfortable with both in regards to their organization and metadata info. I have just started experimenting in RAW, so this is another reason I feel LR or AP might be what I need. If I had to choose, I think I prefer the setup and ease of use of LR3 vs. AP.
I guess my main question is: am I simply missing something in iPhoto that allows the additional metadata information that I'm looking for?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Take a look atMedia Expression. It's a DAM (digital asset management) application that lets the user write keywords, titles, categories, and the other annotations fields shown in this screenshot to the files.
Other DAM applications with similar extensive metadata control can be read about at The DAM Forum.

I found the answer myself - see this other thread I started to find out the cause. In short though, Spotlight itself is corrupt and was causing me no end of headaches so I disabled it using "spotless" a utility for just that purpose.

  • How to display metadata such as data load date in answers report title?

We have a requirement to display the last load date of the data relevant to the report the user is viewing. We have such information stored in a metadata table listed by the fact table the report is referencing. Our proposed solution is to create new answers reports off of this metadata table and put each report (with the appropriate filter on the fact table) on each dashboard section where the corresponding report is placed. One problem with this approach is the load date information will not be reflected in the print form of the report as the date is dashboard content - not report content. Is there any way to overcome this situation (other than create a ton of variables specifically created for this purpose)? I'm open to entertaining javascript ideas, if necessary. I would love to know how to push this OBIEE envelope further. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I discuss with some people who are familiar with SharePoint, we both thought Windows Explorer may
    not accept the custom metadata.
if we want to do some customization, it is recommended to ask for help in development forum.

  • ITunes Match erased metadata from my iTunes Library

I have been frustrated by the inability to show music sorted on my iPod by “Album Artist.”  I really like that I am able to do this on my iPhone and iPad.  But the iPod will only show “Artist.”  This is a real pain when you have several albums by the same artist; but also, when there are numerous track artist variations because of guests, duets, etc.  So instead of a single album artist listing for all such albums, I get about 25 separate listings.  Aughh!!!  Very annoying!
I have come up with what I think is a pretty viable work-around, however.  I discovered an AppleScript available online - by Doug’s AppleScripts - that allows for transferring, copying, appending, or replacing information in any iTunes metadata field with the information from another field.  It will do this for selected iTunes tracks, even my whole library if I select all tracks.  To make this work for me, first I went through my entire library and copied the contents of the “Artist” field to the “Comments” field.  When complete, I then selected all my music tracks, EXCLUDING classical music, and copied the “Album Artist” to the “Artist” field.  I did not do this for classical music because I think the related track artist info is really important – it is useful to know what symphony or orchestra is performing, for example.  Also, I use the “Composer” field for all my classical music, and the iPod Classic allows for sorting on “Composer.”  Problem solved for my classical music.  If I’m in a classical mood, I just sort on “Composer.”  For all my music that is NOT classical, my “Artist” field is now the same as my “Album Artist” field.  And if I really need to know specific track artist information, it is still available for viewing in the track “Comments” field of my iTunes, on my iMac.  This whole process took about 30 minutes for just under 12,000 songs.  Not bad!
Here’s a crazy kicker, though.  I also use iTunes Match.  The next day after I had made all these changes, they were all changed back again!  The metadata I had changed reverted to what was previously written to the iCloud!  Any ideas on how I can prevent that from happening if I’m using iTunes Match??

Michael... what you are describing above is not accurate.  The iPod Classic does NOT have the capability of using the "Album Artist" field from iTunes to sort music.  This particular metadata field is not even available to the iPod Classic.  Only the "Artist" field is available.  (It is the other way around with the iPod Touch, iPhone, and Ipad -- for these iOS devices, the "Album Artist" field is the one that is available, and not the "Artist" field.)  There are numerous posts here in the discussion forums from other folks who are frustrated by the same issue.  The iPod Classic can only sort and group songs together by "Artist" -- that is, the track artist.  And the track artist is often quite different from the album artist.  For example...  I have 29 different Barbra Streisand albums in iTunes.  For all of them, the album artist is "Barbra Streisand."  There are several different track artists however.  Most of them are just Barbra Streisand.  But she also does a duet or two on several albums.  So there are track artists like...  "Barbra Streisand with Kim Carnes," and "Barbra Streisand with Barry Gibb," and many more like that.  After syncing to my iPod Classic, when I sort on the iPod's "Artist" field, I get about 25 different iterations of "Barbra Streisand and .... " as the artist.  Yes, "Barbra Streisand" does appear among them.  But the only songs that are listed under "Barbra Streisand" are those that she sang by herself, and where she is the only track artist.  Given the setup of the iPod Classic as it is now, using firmware version 2.0.4, it is NOT possible to use the Album Artist field to sort and group songs together.

  • Need advice on recovering metadata

Let me explain that subject line:
I made a completely brain-dead move and accidentally deleted some RAW files (83 to be exact) after
they were imported. LR says they're missing and I have not yet deleted them from the LR catalog. I
used the lightroom_recover app to extract the JPEG previews to JPG files and I've realigned
filenames so where I used to have FOO1.CR2, I now have FOO1.JPG and so on.
What I'm looking for advice on: LR doesn't store much metadata in the JPEG preview files so now what
I'd like to do is somehow get the metadata in LR's database into the recovered JPEGs. Once I do
that, I'll delete those CR2's from the LR database and import the JPEGs.
I don't want to distract from the above topic but FWIW, what I did was import from my camera's
memory card but somehow, instead of copying files to the hard disk in my laptop as usual, I imported
in-place without knowing. Once the card was back in the camera and reformatted, kiss those files
goodbye. Which all made me wonder: has the notion of "import presets" been discussed and what was
the general consensus if so? Knowing that with one button I could set all options in the import
dialog to a known-good set of options might have prevented this.

I've resolved this as best I can and I'll outline the steps here in case someone else has this
problem later and searches the forum for a solution. This is a long post.
As Tim says, if all you want to recover is your IPTC metadata, then it's trivial: import the JPEGs
you recovered with lightroom_recover, have LR sync the metadata, then remove the original files from
    your catalog.
I wanted to recover the EXIF metadata as well though and that required several more steps (I wish LR
were more capable in terms of EXIF handling). Here are the steps I took. I'm interested to hear if
others find an easier way. You need to be comfortable with the command-line for this. The general
idea is to put dummy RAWs back where the lost files should be so that LR believes they are now
there. Then have LR write metadata to disk for those. Then put that metadata into the recovered
    JPEGs.
    1) Do NOT remove the missing files from LR yet. If you've done that, the metadata you are trying to
    recover is gone.
    2) Extract the jpegs from LR's previews using lightroom_recover.exe (available here:
http://www.ploki.info/index.php/Main/LightRoomRecover). The JPEG files will be named after the
internal LR ID for the photo. For clarity, you will want to spend the time renaming them to match
the originals. For instance, for every foo.CR2, I found the matching JPEG file and named it foo.JPG.
Place the JPEG files in the same directory where the lost files were. Yes, this is tedious.
    3) Copy any old RAW file you have around into the directory where the lost files used to be. There
should be one copy per lost file. E.g.: copy the same dummy.cr2 to foo1.cr2 and foo2.cr2 and so on.
You can probably do this several ways including manually. I used a simple for loop from bash:
    for x in *.JPG; do cp ../dummy.CR2 `basename $x .JPG`.CR2; done
    4) Back to LR, try to view the lost images in the Library module. It should now "see" them although
it will give you a preview to match the dummy file instead of the original. This is ok at this point
because you saved your images in step 2. Select all of them and write their metadata to disk with
    Ctrl+s.
    5) You should now see a bunch of updated .xmp files for each of the lost RAW files. Use exiftool
(available here: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/) to copy the metadata in those to the
recovered JPEG files with this command:
    exiftool -TagsFromFile %d%f.xmp -all:all -ext jpg .
    6) Almost there. Exiftool keeps the original JPEG files with _original appended to the file name.
You need to move these to another folder to avoid LR thinking these are sidecar JPEGs when you
import. Don't delete them since they're your precious images - move them instead.
    7) In LR, import the recovered JPEG files. Verify that the EXIF metadata looks good in Library. If
so, you can go ahead and remove the originals from the catalog and you're done.
The above steps assume original RAWs with XMP sidecars. For DNG users, I haven't tested a solution
but I would change step 3 to copy a dummy DNG file instead and change the exiftool command in step 5
to extract metadata from DNGs instead of XMPs.

  • How do I add metadata in Pages 5.2?

I can't seem to find any Information tab in the Inspector like there used to be, where you can add metadata to your document -- Author, Title, Description, Keywords. Has this function disappeared?

I have voiced my opinioin that Pages 5.2 is so flawed that is unacceptable as a commercial product.  5.2 contains so many problems that is it useless for our purposes.  We have removed the app from our machines.
Another reason for not using Pages 5.2 is that we have found no way to turn off auto saving.  Consequently, if a document from Pages 4 is opened in 5.2, it will immediately be autosaved as a 5.2 file.  This means the file cannot be opened in Pages 4, and the backwards export function in 5.2 does not work.
Bottom line, Pages 5.2 is a hazard to use.  Pages 5 also lacks a very large number of features that were removed when Pages 5.2 was developed.  Many of these were highly valuable.
As of now, we recommend that users remove this app from their machines and drop back to Pages 4.
Furthermore, we recommend that the word about all of this be spread as far and wide and as quickly as possible.  We don't care about Apple, where some people should be fired on account of 5.2  We do care about fellow users of Pages 4.  That means spreading the word about defects and risks associated with usinig 5.2
Some on this forum have pointed to varioius resources that provide technical solutions for problems that have been discussed here.  These pointers have been helpful.
However, as a veteran of the software business let me say this.  Under no circumstances should it be necessary to have to consult technical forums and read obscure Apple documents to figure out work arounds in what is supposed to be a finished, commercial grade product like Page.  This applies to inexperieced users AND professionals.
Pages 5.2 is a textbook example of several things NOT to do with a commercial product.  The first is to remove features that make a subsequent release of a product LESS useful than the one before.  The next is to re-engineer the UI in a way that makes a product harder, not easier to use.  And the obvious one, NEVER release a product that has not been fully tested, as Apple has done with Pages 5.2
The question I have been thinking about is the business issue.  Why on earth would Apple release a highly defective product into the user base.  There is one explanation.  Pages 5.2 is free.   This leaves the door wide open to follow on with a Premium product that works, maybe even a modestly enhanced verion of Pages 4 ... and sell it for a high retail price.  THAT makes perfect sense.

  • Where do I find the original filename in metadata panels?

I posted this question about retaining the filename but got no answers, so I'm trying again. It used to be in LR prior to Version 2 that you could select "Location" in the Metadata panel and you would see the original camera-generated filename. All my pictures in my LR database have this up until I upgraded to Version 2. Now, it's not there anymore. I want to be able to trace back to the original RAW file if the LR database copy goes corrupt (which has happened three times in 2 years). Any help would be appreciated - I can't locate any forum question/answer that addresses this.

  • Shortcut-Bug in Bridge CS6 for Mac / Bridge cant' copy and paste metadata

The cmd-keys / shortcuts doesn't work in the file info panel btw. in the xmp / iptc fields (e.g. cmd+c, cmd+v, ...) of Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.3). You are not able to cut and paste info from one box to another like previous versions.
This bug only appears in the file info window (opened via alt+i) in Bridge CS6 - if you edit information or metadata in the file info panel in Photoshop CS6, the shortcuts or copy and paste from one field to another works.
The shortcuts also work under Windows (tested under Vista).
I noticed this minor bug already one in the Photoshop CS6 Beta more than one months ago. I hoped that this was corrected in the official test version, but unfortunately it is not. Although it is a minor bug, it is IMHO a basic function and would be very helpful in my daily work. Bridge CS6 and ACR 7 are very good and meet my expect ions or needs - it is too bad, that such a small thing is making working with the application a little bit annoying.
It would be nice, if you could forward this to Adobe engineers that they can fix it.
    Thanks so much!

Thanks! If there is a workaround or simple solution, I would be very glad if you could inform me.

  • How can I get Adobe Bridge to show XMP metadata using Adobe Drive 4 CMIS Connector?

I have successfully connected to an Alfresco Enterprise Edition 4.1.0 repository, using the Adobe Drive 4, created a test folder and uploaded a jpeg file containing XMP metadata into it.
When I view the image's metadata (using Adobe Bridge), I observe that only part the standard file properties are displayed.
When I view a local copy of the image using the same, I see all fields of the standard file properties plus available metadata.
My question: what should I do in Adobe Bridge to be able to see all available XMP metadata?

How did you get through to customer service?  They've changed the website and I can't even find phone numbers or a chat button any more.
Here's my story that I posted on discussion yesterday, but no one has replied:
I am screaming and pulling my hair out right now!  The last six months with Adobe has been a nightmare.
Once again I am completely locked out of Creative Cloud and cannot use the apps even though my automatic monthly deduction for payment was just made a couple of days ago.  Creative Cloud continues to reset itself to the trial version which runs out in 30 days and after that I am locked out once again.
Now it looks like it is harder to access support than before.  Where are chat and the phone numbers now?  This was a nightmare with countless hours spent on chat and the phone over the last six months, and now I don't even know how to access support in order to spend even more time that does not solve the problem.  What am I to do?
I cannot use the product I have paid for!

I am running the latest version of Bridge CC with Photoshop CC.  When browsing thumbnails in Bridge, if you put the curser over a thumbnail the metadata appears over the image in a pop-up window.  I find these really distracting - is there a way to turn off that function?  Thanks.  Mark Weidman

  • Bridge CS6 Mac XMP File Info Panel Bug: can't copy and paste metadata

The cmd-keys / shortcuts doesn't work in the xmp file info panel btw. in the xmp / iptc fields (e.g. cmd+c, cmd+v, ...) of Adobe Bridge CS6 (Mac OS 10.6.8 and 10.7.3). You are not able to cut and paste info from one box to another like previous versions.
This bug only appears in the xmp file info window (opened via alt+i) in Bridge CS6 - if you edit information or metadata in the file info panel in Photoshop CS6 copy and paste from one field to another works.
The shortcuts also work under Windows (tested under Vista).
I noticed this minor bug already one in the Photoshop CS6 Beta more than one months ago. I hoped that this was corrected in the official test version, but unfortunately it is not. Although it is a minor bug, it is IMHO a basic function and would be very helpful in my daily work - it is too bad, that such a small thing is making working with the application a little bit annoying.

Thanks! If there is a workaround or simple solution, I would be very glad if you could inform me.

    Hi,
To add a Managed Metadata field into the list definition, you can take a look at the link below with steps in details about the same requirement.

    For the Lookup field:
