Metadata display panels slow / staggering?
To those who might know:
I am trying out Aperture 2 using the sample files on a decent rig (which also has the graphics card upgrade of the nVidia 8800 GT).
When I have images with metadata selected (e.g., the 'Bird types' folder under the 'Nature' project) and then click on one of the metadata display buttons at the base of the Metadata inspector (e.g., Keywords, EXIF, IPTC, etc.) - the selected metadata panel moves up into view slowly in a sort of stuttering motion. The panels drop smoothly down out of view, just coming up into view are they slow and stuttering.
It does not matter which image is selected in the filmstrip or which folder of images in the Project inspector is selected.
Is this normal behavior with these individual metadata panels for anyone else?
I use some CS4 products which include Bridge CS4 and it does not exhibit any stuttering in displaying its panels at all on this system. I am trying to decide whether or not to move away from a Bridge / ACR workflow, but this Aperture performance does not seem quite right for an Apple product.
Additionally, all other software installed runs fine.
I do not consider myself to be a professional photographer (more of a seriously interested hobbiest at home), but I am shooting more RAW when the situation permits.
Any insights welcome.
Note - I did not try Aperture 2 on 10.5.8 and I have done a clean install of 10.6 and immediately ran the downloaded stand-alone 10.6.1 installer prior to installing additional software. No tweaks to the system and running Aperture 2.1.4.

Metadata Display box is empty (PP 4.0.1)
I don't know if anyone else is seeing this issue. In Premiere Pro CS4, the Metadata Display dialog is empty, except for a search box (magnifying glass). This dialog box can be found in the context menu of the Project and Metadata panels. It is used to select which metadata fields you want visible.
Both panels are populated with information. If I try typing a search (like "usage" to get video and/or audio usage info), it closes. As a result, I cannot change the metadata display fields.
This feature definitely worked when I first installed Premiere. I suspect it broke after installing the 4.0.1 patch.
I'm running Windows XP SP2 on a custom built Intel Core Duo E6300/ASUS P5B motherboard, with an EVGA GeForce 8800GT video card (180.48 drivers). Premiere is installed on my Windows drive, and my project and footage are on an external SATA drive. Other CS4 applications installed are Flash and Soundbooth. I also have the CS3 Master Suite previously installed.
I'm editing 24p standard definition DV (from a Panasonic DVX100C).
Thanks.I was playing with it, checking it for you on a project with one MXF HVX-200 clip and it just crashed. Haven't ever tried to change my meta data before, no need, unlike you the HVX writes it for me.

Label column in metadata display always on left
I just downloaded the new pp cc 2014 and opened up my project file. In the project panel metadata display bar I cannot click and drag either the "label" or "name" column. I would like the labels to be on the right side of the file names but cannot click and drag them like the other metadata fields.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am sure it is a simple thing that I am missing.
Thank you for your time.This was an intentional change in PPro CC2014. The position of the Label column is now locked to the left of name.

Ipad 4 retina display is slow after iOS 8
ipad 4 retina display is slow after iOS 8, also upgrade to iOS 8.0.1 i think and safari is slow, animations are slow, and i can't restore it to iOS 7, there it was great. i mean its like my iphone 4 with iOS 7 in its best days. i hope no to get stuck again, i mean please let me go to the iOS 7)).
also I've got message from apple that im not authorised to post this message, so if it goes online i think after many years of apple desktop and mobile i am done with it))).Upgraded my ipad4 from ios6 to iOS 8 because the new WSJ app required it. HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!! I can maybe understand some apps being slower but not Safari or Chrome. Apple must be throttling back the ipad4 processor even more with ios8 to force an upgrade to the next gen iPad whenever it arrives.

How to save custom metadata display in CS4.2?
I know this has been asked in the past, but no one has come up with an answer I can find.
Here's what happens: in the project bin, I click Metadata Display, click the Premiere Project Metadata line, unclick the metadata I don't want to see, save the settings as My Setting, and go on with my day. The settings remain the same UNTIL I close the propject and open it back up and all the settings go back to default. So I open the Metadata Display back up from the project bin to reload my saved, custom settings...the (custom) bar is greyed out and not selectable, so I have to go through and do this all over.
Essentially, Premiere is NOT saving the custom settings. Why is this happening? It worked when I had 4.1. What's going on?do a chain and endchain on the fields.Then insert the fields in to the required database.

Retina display wakes in high resolution / breaks Displays panel
Hi all,
Yesterday I used my new retina MBP with an Apple TV, mirroring its screen up on the AppleTV for a presentation. Since then, whenever I wake the MBP (I have its Energy Saver settings set to sleep the display but not the computer after a time), it wakes in super high res with tiny tiny tiny text (this may be 2880 x 1800 but I can't tell, but it's higher res than the highest setting the Display panel offers you).
Then, because I want to reset it to something readable, I open the Displays panel, and click Best for Retina or such, and it doesn't change. None of the resolution settings do anything. The Display panel is not entirely broken, because the GUI functions, as in, highlighting different options I choose, but there's no reaction.
To fix it, I've found I can go into the menu bar icon (rectangle with triangle under it, the AirPlay icon), set the MBP to Airplay mirror to itself (which strikes me as an odd option to have available). This changes the screen to something pretty low res with letterboxing at top and bottom, and asks me for a Airplay password for my own system. I say Cancel, and then my Displays panel works again, and I can select Best for Retina.
Any tips? Seems like a bug.

ADF/Swing: changing iterator in runtime before displaying panel
Is it possible ,before displaying panel, to change iterator name that was specified in design time and is placed in panel.pageDef xml file and this way display panel with different iterator than is in panel.pageDef file? If yes, is it posible display this way many panels in the same time?
Hi,
the iterator is referenced by the attribute binding. If you look at the Swing code then you see that the Swing widgets reference a named attribute binding in their model binding. To change the iterator you would need to access the ADF binding layer and change it there. which I haven't tried.
The attribute binding references an iterator as a named reference, which means that changing the physical implementation - in theory - works if the same set of attributes are available.

ADF Swing - what happened to 'Display panel.java'
When editing a for with embedded panels, in Jdev 10, when you right-click on the panel there is an option 'Display panel.java', that opens embedded panel for edit. I don't see this option in 11gTP3

3. connecting external monitor; waiting for it to 'wake up';
then 4. closing lid of MBP to activate clamshell mode? -
I was reading an online article about using iWeb

This is the panel many applications use to allow the user to adjust the fonts. If you open TextEdit and go to Format/Font/Show Font the Font Panel will appear.
As you can see in the iWeb article the screen shot shows recently used fonts. The fonts show how they actually appear or they are preview. When I bring up iWeb o TextEdit I don't see that preview. If I select the Gear icon in the lower left corner I can turn on Show Preview but this just brings up a header show what a selected font looks like. The fonts in the list don't change.
There seems to be a problem with my Recently Used and Favorite lists. There are a few fonts in my list but they are not grouped together. There are blank rows listed between the shown fonts. However if I click in the blank area a font is selected and if you have any text selected in the document it will change that text.
If I choose a new font for a TextEdit document that font never shows up in the Recently Used list.
Is there a preference file for this panel? It appears my font display panel is not working correctly.
Are others having these issues?

Message was edited by: KRitchieI have an iBook running 10.4.11 and the recently used collections gets updated correctly. However when adding a font to the the Favorites collection there are blank rows between the fonts I've added. Also if you select the font type and not the specific font such as the bold, or regular it doesn't copy all of them.
Also, unlike in Leopard when you select the Recently Used collection you see what the font looks like show in the list irrespective if the preview panel is activated. Looks like for Leopard the font display panel was changed or not tested thoroughly.

Metadata filtering panel options not present in a library
How do I get a metadata filtering panel in a document library? I have activated feature "Metadata navigation and filtering". But in the library there doesn't appear any related links in Library Settings.

According to your post, my understanding is that the managed metadata filtering not appear in a document library.
To narrow down whether the issue is related to the document library, you can create a new document library then check whether it works.
As another site collection, the managed metadata filtering works well, the issue may be related to the site itself.
To quickly and accurately find the issue, I recommend you can check the event log and ULS log to see if anything unexpected occurred.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

Missing metadata browser/panel
The tutorials refer to a metadata panel or browser, on left side of screen. Nothing like that shows in my version. How do I get at it?
In Lightroom 2 the Metadata Browser panel is replaced by the Metadata Filter element of the Library Filter bar, which is located at the top of the thumbnail grid. You need to tap the "\" backslash key to toggle the Library Filter on/off.
