MetaData DISPLAY sets

How can I define my own set of metadata to be displayed in the metadata panel. I don't mean metadata sets to be applied to images. I mean the groups of metadata fields that will be displayed in the right hand panel.
LR came with some like QuickDescribe, Minimal, Default....

Maybe more than you want to know:
The newest version of Jeffrey's plugin also supports foreign (other-plugin-provided/custom) metadata too, provided it meets certain criteria (metadata definitions are readily accessible).
All of my plugins are so qualified (e.g. CustomMetadata, DevMeta, NxToo, ExifMeta, ...)
Note: if Jeffrey's plugin does not support all metadata you are interested in (read: plugin-provided metadata not meeting criteria), then you can still make use of it by editing (a copy of) the output and manually adding desired metadata fields - not for the less computer-literate among us, but doable...
(actually, some plugin authors have registered their metadata with Jeffrey for inclusion, it's just those that are unregistered, or whose metadata definitions may vary, that may be at issue).

How to save custom metadata display in CS4.2?

I know this has been asked in the past, but no one has come up with an answer I can find.
Here's what happens: in the project bin, I click Metadata Display, click the Premiere Project Metadata line, unclick the metadata I don't want to see, save the settings as My Setting, and go on with my day. The settings remain the same UNTIL I close the propject and open it back up and all the settings go back to default. So I open the Metadata Display back up from the project bin to reload my saved, custom settings...the (custom) bar is greyed out and not selectable, so I have to go through and do this all over.
Essentially, Premiere is NOT saving the custom settings. Why is this happening? It worked when I had 4.1. What's going on?

API error when trying to create a display set

Hello,
I'm creating a mapping, and I'm trying to define an attribute display set in the target table to show only some of the attributes of the table. I have called it 'SHORT_LIST' and I have also selected the attributes I want to display, but when I press OK, the followig error message is shown: "API0411: Name should not be an empty string", but I do fill the display set name!
What is happening?

Not sure what is happening here. What version are you running? This seems like a bug though so I suggest logging an iTar wiht support.

Reader 10.1 issues - with 150% Display setting

I've waited a long time for the latest version of Reader (10.1.0.534) which came out yesterday. I keenly updated to it today and went testing (with my fingers crossed), only to find that it still doesn't fix the issues I'm encountering with my PCs Display set to 150% (Win 7 SP1 x64) - all the issues are all still there.
Firstly - when using under the latest IE9 I've noticed the following:
The top toolbar won't work and clicking on any button has no effect
The bottom (floating) toolbar is similarly ineffective
Somehow after I found 2 above, I've managed to loose the bottom floating toolbar altogether (and alt-F8 or F8 wont bring it back - not that its vital)
Right Clicking on the screen brings up an option panel away from the mouse
When used as a standalone app (again at 150% Display setting in Win 7) I've noticed:
The illumination of the Close, Maximise and Minimise buttons when the mouse is rolled over them is irregular and if the mouse becomes stationary on any of those buttons, the illumination goes.
Setting Display to 100% (or even 125% from provisional testing) seems to elliminate these bugs but is Adobe going to buy me some binoculars so I can see the tiny buttons and fonts on my HTPC screen from 6' away...
In this day and age of Windows coming with a perfectly capable Media Centre interface, many users of HTPCs have them set up with high resolution monitors (or TVs as the monitor) and leaving the display set to 100% is no good for regular PC functions (such as web browsing or pdf reading).
Please fix this Adobe. I've already applied to be a pre-release tester (and my application hasn't been picked up/followed up). I just feel I'm getting my moneys worth out of this product!

Try removing a plugin...
Quit Safari.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Move the Adobe PDF Browser plugin (or just PDF Browser plugin) from the Internet Plug-Ins folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari to test.

NX6200TC primary display set as TV

I have a NX6200TC connected to a (PAL) TV and Philips 17" monitor. From time to time I neglect to switch on my Philips monitor before powering on my Windows XP PC. The system them sets the primary monitor as the TV and does not detect the Philips.
To reset this back is not easy as restarting the PC does not help. The current display drivers are Version 8.4.2.1
Does anyone have a easy way to reset the display setting so the the primary monitor is again the Philips or are there any other solutions to this problem?

I have installed version 9.1.3.1 of the the ForceWare Drivers. I now have a new problem.
When Playing a video to my Pal/I Standard TV, overlay set to Full screen on the TV, the picture on the TV appears like a letterbox. Normal viewing of the of information on the computer screen is mirrored to the TV correctly.
Do you have any idea how to resolve this?

Wakes up to wrong display setting then quits everthing !

Hi all,
I have a mac mini running an updated snow leopard plugged via an adapter into the HDMI slot of my Philips 40" LCD screen. For some time now, whenever I wake up the mac mini and the TV (both of which go to sleep after a period of inactivity), the screen starts off with the wrong display setting moving from 1360 x 768 to 1600 x 900 which is a much worse picture. I can switch it back through the menu bar, and that usually works, although sometimes, it also quits any open apps so I get multiple 'unexpectedly quit' error messages. This can also happen if I use the remote to wake it up without turning on the TV.
Any ideas how I stop this ? I have repaired permissions and also verified and repaired the hard drive and that seems to have a short term impact.
Any help would be much appreciated.

See if there is a way to turn off CEC on the Philips through its menu system and see if that helps.

Metadata display panels slow / staggering?

To those who might know:
I am trying out Aperture 2 using the sample files on a decent rig (which also has the graphics card upgrade of the nVidia 8800 GT).
When I have images with metadata selected (e.g., the 'Bird types' folder under the 'Nature' project) and then click on one of the metadata display buttons at the base of the Metadata inspector (e.g., Keywords, EXIF, IPTC, etc.) - the selected metadata panel moves up into view slowly in a sort of stuttering motion. The panels drop smoothly down out of view, just coming up into view are they slow and stuttering.
It does not matter which image is selected in the filmstrip or which folder of images in the Project inspector is selected.
Is this normal behavior with these individual metadata panels for anyone else?
I use some CS4 products which include Bridge CS4 and it does not exhibit any stuttering in displaying its panels at all on this system. I am trying to decide whether or not to move away from a Bridge / ACR workflow, but this Aperture performance does not seem quite right for an Apple product.
Additionally, all other software installed runs fine.
I do not consider myself to be a professional photographer (more of a seriously interested hobbiest at home), but I am shooting more RAW when the situation permits.
Any insights welcome.
Note - I did not try Aperture 2 on 10.5.8 and I have done a clean install of 10.6 and immediately ran the downloaded stand-alone 10.6.1 installer prior to installing additional software. No tweaks to the system and running Aperture 2.1.4.

MBP Retina display setting to make Photoshop less pixelated?

I just purchased a MBP Retina and I've noticed (as many have, I've gathered) that Adobe CS6 programs appear pixelated on the new retina display. I realize that not all apps are upgraded for the retina display, but I was wondering if there is a display setting I can use for this to be resolved for the time being? Much appreciated, thanks!

Well, OK, if it is completely dimmed, not just stuck on a low level, try pressing fn-f2 (function & F2). If the box in preferences is checked, then adding "fn" may help. Worth a try if it works.

X mountain lion causing my display setting to be very low after tab out from a full screen application like game. anyone encountered the similar thing?

Your issue could be caused by many things however I'm pretty certain it has nothing to do with OS X being faulty. OS X is not like Windows that requires a re-install whenever issues present themselves. You need to be methodical in checking where your issue lies. There are numerous articles available that go over causes, I'd suggest looking through the X-Lab article listed below and then methodically going through each step until you discover the cause.

If you still can't find it then you should work with an AASP to locate where your issue lies.

Display Setting Problem

I accidentally chose an unsupported display. If I boot the mini it starts up and then the display flashes "no support." If I start up in safe mode everything is very large. I go to system preferences and there is not a display selection.
Is there a way to rest this? I have done the control option P R start up, and it did not help.
I did the 10 second hold down where the computer bongs for a long time on start up. No luck. I'm at my wits end.

The lack of a displays preference pane when you safe boot is something I have not come across before - indeed, when I messed up the display settings of a mini connected to a TV and ended up with a display that wouldn't sync, I was able to resolve the problem by safe booting and resetting the resolution and refresh rate in the display preferences.
One thing I have found has worked on some Macs where the display settings have been set out of range and the display therefore doesn't work is to disconnect the display completely and then boot the mini. Once it has started up and there's been sufficient time elapsed for the desktop to appear, then reconnect the display again.
What that OUGHT to do is cause the mini to set a default minimum display setting when it fails to detect a display. 640x480 or 800x600. When you reconnect the display, the desktop should then appear at that default minima.
You should re-enable automatic logins (the checkmark in the security preference pane) before you do this since the mini may not detect the absence of the display before it cycles into the user's desktop.
Even if this works, it's of some concern that under safe mode the preference pane is missing. To me, that would indicate the problem is a little deeper than merely preference settings, but this is worth a try.

Quicktime Does Not Support Current Display Setting...

When I have iTunes open (minimized or full screen) and lock my computer (Windows Key + L, goes to switch user screen) in Windows XP Pro SP2 I am getting the following message:
Unsupported Display
"QuickTime does not support the current Display Setting. Please change it and restart this application."
This happens on my work computer and home computer, both running Windows XP SP2 (Home and Pro). It happened in iTunes 7.0, 7.1 and now 7.2. Is this a known issue with iTunes/QuickTime, and how can it be resolved?

I don't know why everyone is having weird problems with Itunes. I switched from Yahoo! Music Jukebox about a month ago because of a few issues their. I have updated twice sense switching. I'm running the latest version 7.4.3.1 I don't want or have a ipod, but sense I sense I switched other than Missing album art & Itunes editing my library I've had 0 problems with Itunes, it plays & opens Has never froze. I spend a lot of time in the forums to try to help people with the probles with Itunes.
