Metadata: Filter By Exposure Bias

It would be great if one could metadata by exposure bias.
This would be very handy for those of us who shoot with AEB auto exposure bracketing.
Thanks,
Alexander Stross

You are awesome.
It is slighly silly that they didn't include that functionality.  Hopefully in a update they can make it happen.  It doesn't seem like a difficult fix considering they functionality is already there.
Thanks!  I look forward to seeing your pluggin!

  • Exposure Bias in Metadata HUD

    OK, dumb question #1.
I've been experimenting with exposure settings, under, exact and over by a couple of stops - but nothing that is over exposed is ever reflected in the metadata, and almost all of the under exposed shots are the same - they show 0ev. I've had some show up with -0.3ev, but only a few.
The camera is a Canon 20D

    PowerBook G4 1.67, Powermac G4 DP 1.42   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I have been doing the experimenting on the camera,
setting various exposures both under and over 1/3 and
2/3 of a stop - but Aperture shows them as having the
same exposure bias. The shutter speed varies when I
change the exposure level course, and that is
reflected in Aperture, but the exposure bias isn't.
Sorry, I misunderstood before - there is somethign wierd there. In a brief scan of my own images I see no values for exposure bias in Aperture other than 0ev and -3.0ev - on pictures I do not think I had set that low.
I think I'll submit that as a bug, I suggest others do the same so we can get it out of the way...

  • Exposure bias EXIF search

    Hello yet again,
Using latest Aperture on G4 PB, I have my 5D set to 1/3 stop exposure bias but I am having trouble performing searches for images at specific levels of exposure. When I filter based on 'Exif + exposure bias + greater than/less than/is + -2/-1/0/1/2/' each individual combination works fine. Similarly so when I use 'exposure bias + greater than/less than + -0.3/0.3/-0.7/0.7'. But if I put in 'exposure bias + is + -0.3/0.3/-0.7/0.7' I get no results. With +or-1/3 exposures I worked out that 'exposure bias + is + -0.33 or +0.33' does work. But I cannot get 'exposure bias + is + -0.7/+0.7' to work at all. I tried going through 0.70 to 0.79 but with no success. In the metadata window it shows up as 0.3ev or 0.7ev and I have also tried copying it exactly (including ev) but it doesn't work.
    Help!
    Ross

The values of exposure bias are:
    -2 .........> -2.00
    -1 2/3 ..> -1.67
    -1 1/3 ..> -1.33
    -1 .........> -1.00
    -2/3 .....> -0.67
    -1/3 .....> -0.33
    0 ..........> 0.00
    +1/3 ....> +0.33
    +2/3 ....> +0.67
    +1 .......> +1.00
    +1 1/3 > +1.33
    +1 2/3 > +1.67
    +2 .......> +2.00

  • Missing aperture/shuttle speed/exposure bias info in the Viewer overlay

With the Viewer overlay enabled and set to "Photo Info - EXIF", I can see all expected info except Aperture, Shuttle Speed and Exposure Bias. These info are displayed in the Inspector with the same view selected.
My computer is iMac 24 (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) with 4G RAM, running 10.5.1 and Aperture 1.5.6.
Have anyone seen this problem? I cannot remember if this is also the case in any prior versions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi, Zekor
The f-stop should be directly below photo, first above the list, also check to make sure it is checked in the metadata inspector

  • Filter for exposure compensation

When bracketing exposures, as is often done for landscape work HDR, etc), you typically end up with a large number if variants. It would be very helpful to be able to identify all images with a given exposure bias (typically zero). You could then quickly cull the discard images without having to brows through all the variants. I now do this by hand, color code the zero bias images, filter by the color and then x-flag the discards. I then view all, x-flag the matching variants and delete.

I now have over 100,000 photos in my library, and for some reason the metadata filter (metadata browser) won't show image counts with 6 digits. Perhaps there is a setting (like a font I could choose) that would solve this problem? Or is this just another annoying feature of Lightroom?

  • TOP LIMIT FOR "OR" SEARCH IN METADATA FILTER

Would anyone know the top limit for an "OR" search in the Metadata Filter.  Like if you are searching with keywords, how many keywords can you choose in the same column?  Could it be 20?  50?  I have an iMac with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and Lightroom 5.
    Thank You For Any Help,
    Thank You,
    Sandy

I agree with dj_paige.  I just did a quick experiment with a catalog containing 627 keywords:  In the Metadata browser, I added a Keyword column and selected all 627 keywords.  The same number of photos were displayed as when no keywords were selected, which is the expected result.

  • GPS Metadata filter

I imported a few photos to experiment and added GPS data to some. After adding location to some photos the metadata filter list for GPS Location shows
    All (2 GPS Locations)  53
    Current Map Region 14
    Location A     14
This just seems wrong, the numbers do not add up. With the label filter I see
    All (2 Labels)  53
    Red      10
    No Label 43
This makes sense as having an entry for No Label makes the numbers add up.
Why is there not an entry for No Location in the GPS metadata filter list ?
It would certainly seem simpler than having to create a smart collection, which does allow filtering on No GPS Data

Oh I had not noticed that there are 2 separate metadata filters for GSP data. GPS Data being any/none and GPS Location only allowing filtering of specific locations.
It seems odd to me to have these as separate filter lists

  • Metadata filter

    Hello
Is there anyway a metadata filter can make a dimension member non-readable?
In my case, I would like end-users to not see a dummy member in a 2000 member rollup (the dummy member has to be in this hierachy). At the same time I would like it to display as a flat dimension.
I could type in the 1999 members in the filter but prefer to just exclude the one dummy member.
    Any workarounds you use?
    Edited by: user610131 on Mar 20, 2009 12:04 PM

I faced tha problem recently and was solved in to steps:
1- in the rule file you use to load that dimension add one extra collumn with an UDA "dummy" for that members you want to hide.
2- create an security filter to hide all dummy flaged members.
              ex.: METAREAD, @REMOVE((@IDESCENDANTS("Dimension"),(@UDA("Dimension",dummy)))
This way you can automaticaly hide all dummy members
    Hope that helps,

  • Metadata filter for "Location" filters on metadata field "Sublocation"

It's confusing that the metadata filter for "Location" filters on metadata field "Sublocation".  This is confusing until you figure it out.  Adobe should assure that field names in the filter tool  match the field name in the Metadata Panel they filter on.  Should be an easy fix.

  • In a document library : group by view and manage metadata filter & Navigation problem

Hi all, I encounter a problem when configuring a document library using a group by view and in combination with the Managed Metadata filtering and
    navigation :
    - all the documents appear under my group by, even the ones that does not correspond
    - In the other hand, the number in brackets shows the correct number of documents that should be shown
    See screenshot below.
Did you already encounter that issue ? Is there a workaround ?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to use a group by view and combine with the Managed Metadata filtering and navigation in a document library
to show the corresponding documents with the correct numbers in SharePoint 2013.
In my SharePoint 2013, I created a view which was group by two columns and combine with the Metadata Navigation Hierarchies and Key Filters some fields in a document
library. As a result, it showed only items matching the filter values.
So, I recommend that you can follow the steps to implement it in your environment.
Step1: Enable Metadata Navigation and Filtering:
Metadata Navigation and Filtering is a Site Feature that has to be activated for this to work.
And, the Metadata Navigation and Filtering feature is enabled by default on most sites.
If it is not enabled for your site, you can enable it on the Site Features pages for your site.
You must be a Site Owner or a Site Collection Administrator to enable Metadata Navigation and Filtering.
    1. Go to “Site Settings” and click “Manage site features” under Site Actions.
    2. Find “Metadata Navigation and Filtering” in the Features list and click “Activate”.
    Step2:
    Configure Metadata Navigation:
You must have a least the Manage Lists permission level to configure metadata navigation for a list or library.
    1. Open the document library for which you want to configure metadata navigation.
    2. Go to “Library Settings” of the document library and click “Metadata navigation settings” under “General Settings”.
    3. In the Configure Navigation Hierarchies section, select the field or fields you want to display in the navigation hierarchy and then click “Add”.
    4. By default, Folders are automatically displayed in the navigation hierarchy. If you do not want folders to display, select Folders, and then click Remove.
    5. In the Configure Key Filters section, select the fields you want to add as Key Filters, and then click “Add”.
    6. In the Configure automatic column indexing for this list, specify whether you want to automatically create indices on this list to increase the performance of the
queries that users will perform when they use the Navigation Hierarchy and Key Filter columns you've specified. It is recommended that you select the option “Automatically manage column indices on this list”.
    7. Click “OK”.
Step3: Set a group by two columns by modifying view in the document library:
    1. Go to the “LIBRARY” ribbon of the document library and click the “Modify view”.
    2. Click the “Group By” and select up to two columns to determine what type of group and subgroup the items in the view will be displayed in.
    3. Click “OK”.
    Step4:
Go back to the document library, apply Navigation Hierarchies and Key Filters to do a test in your environment.
The result will like as below:
There is an article about how to apply Metadata Navigation Filtering in SharePoint 2013 for your reference.

  • Metadata Filter with UDA

I'm trying to create a security filter in Essbase using the metadata function and UDAs. What I'm trying to accomplish is to allow a user to view the descendants of an organization they have access to. For example, user x has should have visibility to Division A and the descendants of Division A as well as Member B only and Member C only. The UDA is assigned to Division A and Members B & C.
What would the correct syntax be for a nested filter like this? This is how I had it and it returned a syntax error:
    @ides(@uda(Organization,"user_x")), "USD"
    Thanks for your help!

I stuck the UDA "East" on the member "East" in Sample.Basic.
I then created this Metaread filter: @IDESCENDANTS(@UDA (Market, "East"))
    It verified correctly.
I then assigned the UDA "East" to "Texas" (yes, that is garbage from a geographic perspective).
    It verified correctly.
I also tried using just @IDES instead of the full function name. That too worked.
You might want to try the above on your system and see if it works. If it doesn't, perhaps there is a version issue.

  • Camera shake reduction filter - double exposure blur problem

I am having a problem using the camera shake reduction filter to work on a digital image of an old photo which had a clear cut motion blur which formed a
double exposure when the camera motion stopped... this can be seen when the image is enlarged. Is it possible to sharpen these type of images ?

Can you post a small bit of it?
Usually the Shake Reduction tool will improve an image some, especially if you hunt around with the position, size, and shape of the analysis region until it gets it just about right, but there's really not a magical fix for motion-blurred images.  Such an image, with whatever recovery mechanism, will not ever look as an image that's well-exposed to begin with.
