Metadata Filter with UDA
I'm trying to create a security filter in Essbase using the metadata function and UDAs. What I'm trying to accomplish is to allow a user to view the descendants of an organization they have access to. For example, user x has should have visibility to Division A and the descendants of Division A as well as Member B only and Member C only. The UDA is assigned to Division A and Members B & C.
What would the correct syntax be for a nested filter like this? This is how I had it and it returned a syntax error:
@ides(@uda(Organization,"user_x")), "USD"
Thanks for your help!
I stuck the UDA "East" on the member "East" in Sample.Basic.
I then created this Metaread filter: @IDESCENDANTS(@UDA (Market, "East"))
It verified correctly.
I then assigned the UDA "East" to "Texas" (yes, that is garbage from a geographic perspective).
It verified correctly.
I also tried using just @IDES instead of the full function name. That too worked.
You might want to try the above on your system and see if it works. If it doesn't, perhaps there is a version issue.

Hello
Is there anyway a metadata filter can make a dimension member non-readable?
In my case, I would like end-users to not see a dummy member in a 2000 member rollup (the dummy member has to be in this hierachy). At the same time I would like it to display as a flat dimension.
I could type in the 1999 members in the filter but prefer to just exclude the one dummy member.
Any workarounds you use?
Edited by: user610131 on Mar 20, 2009 12:04 PMI faced tha problem recently and was solved in to steps:
1- in the rule file you use to load that dimension add one extra collumn with an UDA "dummy" for that members you want to hide.
2- create an security filter to hide all dummy flaged members.
ex.: METAREAD, @REMOVE((@IDESCENDANTS("Dimension"),(@UDA("Dimension",dummy)))
This way you can automaticaly hide all dummy members
Hope that helps,

Metadata filter doesn't show counts 99,999
I now have over 100,000 photos in my library, and for some reason the metadata filter (metadata browser) won't show image counts with 6 digits. Perhaps there is a setting (like a font I could choose) that would solve this problem? Or is this just another annoying feature of Lightroom?

TOP LIMIT FOR "OR" SEARCH IN METADATA FILTER
Would anyone know the top limit for an "OR" search in the Metadata Filter. Like if you are searching with keywords, how many keywords can you choose in the same column? Could it be 20? 50? I have an iMac with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and Lightroom 5.
Thank You For Any Help,
Thank You,
SandyI agree with dj_paige. I just did a quick experiment with a catalog containing 627 keywords: In the Metadata browser, I added a Keyword column and selected all 627 keywords. The same number of photos were displayed as when no keywords were selected, which is the expected result.
-
I imported a few photos to experiment and added GPS data to some. After adding location to some photos the metadata filter list for GPS Location shows
All (2 GPS Locations) 53
Current Map Region 14
Location A 14
This just seems wrong, the numbers do not add up. With the label filter I see
All (2 Labels) 53
Red 10
No Label 43
This makes sense as having an entry for No Label makes the numbers add up.
Why is there not an entry for No Location in the GPS metadata filter list ?
It would certainly seem simpler than having to create a smart collection, which does allow filtering on No GPS DataOh I had not noticed that there are 2 separate metadata filters for GSP data. GPS Data being any/none and GPS Location only allowing filtering of specific locations.
It seems odd to me to have these as separate filter lists -
Using Windows 7 and LR 5, when I look at the Keyword List a certain keyword has 7 pictures but when I check the Library Filter with that keyword 350 pictures are shown which includes the 7 pictures that have the keyword. Why does the Library Filter showing pictures that do not match the query
Dan,
Here's what's going on in the catalog you sent me, "Joel & Caitlin's Wedding". There is the keyword "gwenn", which is explicitly assigned to 7 pics. But keyword "schwartz" has a number of synonyms, including "gwenn", and it is assigned to 25 pics. There is no overlap between the two sets of pics.
I discovered these two occurrences by doing Metadata > Export Keywords, opening the exported file in an editor, and then searching for "gwenn". I found two occurrences of "gwenn":
gwenn
schwartz
{gwenn}
From this, you can see that the keyword "schwartz" has 9 synonyms, of which "gwenn" is one.
The filter criterion "Keywords Contain gwenn" will match the 7 pics that are explicitly assigned the keyword "gwenn", and it will also match the 25 pics assigned the keyword "schwartz", because that keyword has a synonym "gwenn".
This illustrates the behavior I mentioned above: The criterion "Keywords contains x" will match against any of a pic's assigned keywords, any of those keywords' ancestor keywords, and any of the synonyms of the assigned keywords and their ancestors.
So LR is operating correctly here, if not in a way that's easy to understand.
It appears that you are using the synonyms of "schwartz" to represent individual members of the Schwartz family. A better way of representing family relationships is to have a parent keyword "Schwartz", with subkeywords for each family member, e.g. "Gwenn Schwartz", "Joe Schwartz", "Jane Schwartz", etc. Repeating the family name in the subkeywords has a couple of advantages. LR usually only displays the "leaf" name of a keyword, so instead of showing you just "Joe", it will show you "Joe Schwartz", helpful when there are a number of different people whose first name is "Joe". Also, if you ever export your pics to other software, it may not understand the LR hierarchy and won't show the parent keywords, so again it's more informative to see a keyword named "Joe Schwartz" rather than "Joe". -
How to change the presets in pop-up menus (CS6 or CR 7, example Photo Filter) with arrow keys an see at the same time the changes on the photo?
It worked under Windows, now I use OS 10.8 and have to apply a preset with a click or Return button but after that the pop-up menu close so I have to open it once again to change a preset. Please help. Thank you!The filter panel is a shortcut for the content panel and it only effects the content of that window. So if you have a folder it will only see this as a folder and not with its content. (a Stack behaves about the same, being different in only counting the first file in the filter panel criteria but not what is in the stack itself)
You have a view work arounds, first is use menu view / show items from subfolders (this can take some time especially if you have not used caching before on this content) and this builds visible thumbs for all content and that can be used for filtering.
Or use the find command (Edit / find) and inhere specify the source and fill in the criteria include subfolders and this will give you the correct result.
When you create a smart collection the find command also pops up given you the same opportunity to get the results in a collection, but since a collection is only a bunch of aliases referring to the originals you might be a bit careful with editing and deleting. -
Check Interactive report filter with APEX item :P101_USERNAME
Hi,
is there a way to create a filter with IR which is based on the :P101_USERNAME item?
I use this variable with the windows user name and want to show only rows where the current user works with.
Thanks ahead,
TobiasHi John,
my plan was to reference the filter on the user level.
Parts of selection for the IR:
SELECT r.r_id,
c.c_name,
r.r_note,
UPPER(r.win_account)
FROM requests r, classes c
WHERE r.r_c_id = c.c_id
Info:
WIN_ACCOUNT looks like: ARNHOLD_TOBIAS
:P101_USERNAME looks like: ARNHOLD_TOBIAS
The goal is that a user in the standard view sees only his rows/calls and if he want to see the rows/calls from the colleagues too. He/She would only need to take off the filter for the USERNAME.
I could use my own items with an extra region too but I thought that there was an easier way then that.

How to build a filter with particular frequncy respond?
Hi,
Are there any methods to create a filter with particular frequncy respond? It's better if I can simply input the filter's xy data according to my filter sharp. Thanks.
BillLook in the examples for FILTER
select FIR Filter example
For IIR filters
slect the IIR filter example.
The main problem that I see with inputting xy's data is that it's tricky for a program to decide which trade-off to make for passband ripple or cut off for example. -
Retain the metadata associated with a doc after conversion to pdf
I am using word automation service to convert word document to a pdf in a sharepoint 2010 document library. however after the conversion of the document from word to pdf the associated metadata is lost. (i.e the converted document which is added to the library doesn't retain
the old metadata like duedate,doc id etc...)
Can someone help me how to retain the metadata associated with list after conversion of document to PDF.
I am using one ItemAdded event reciever in which when I am trying to looping out the library in which all word documents are there, I am not getting the last updated document that got converted into pdf.
Code which I am using is below: Here destContenttype is content type of the the document and destFilename is file name of the document.
SPListItemCollection newLstItms = lstNonPublishLst.GetItems(newSqlQuery);
foreach (SPItem newItem in newLstItms)
if (newItem["Content Type"].ToString() == destContenttype && newItem["Name"].ToString().Split('.')[0] == destFileName[0])
properties.ListItem["Document Number"] = newItem["Document Number"];
properties.ListItem.SystemUpdate();
break;
Please advise, it is really urgent.
Thanks in AdvanceI have worked on copying SharePoint meta data (and painfully fine tuning it to deal with all exceptions, 3rd party apps and content types) for the last 8 years. Not full time though :-)
It is part of a commercial product that does PDF Conversion in SharePoint and takes great care of dealing with meta data. Have a look at
this blog post.
Apologies for the shameless plug, but as you are in a hurry it may be the best, and most reliable, solution.
Disclaimer, as I mentioned I worked on this product so consider me biased. -
Metadata created with OEM and OLAP2 views
Why metadata created with OEM (v 9.2.0.1.0) aren't visible in OLAP2 views?
Cubes are visible only in OLAP_CUBES, and OLAP1_CUBES views only.
"Oracle9i Users Guide" says, that OLAP2 views shows metada created either with CWM2 and OEM, but i don't see the ones created with OEM.
And second question - has that issue something to do with the problem that i don't see cubes with "cube viewer" (and any other OLAP API application like OracleBI Spreadsheet Add-In)? I got error message BIB-10701.
I use Oracle 9.2.0.6.0 with OLAP option.
RafI know it is an old thread, but I thought I post the solution anyway ;-)
I had the same problem and found that it is fixed in the July 2014 CU. -
I have external list where i want to apply multiple filter for every column like we do in Excel spreadsheet - we can filter a spreadsheet column by selecting multiple checkbox for every column. I am using Sharepoint 2010
Is this possible in sharepoint 2010? Any idea how to acheive that?
Thanks in advance.Hi Rahul,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to use filter with multiple values on a column of an external list in SharePoint 2010.
Per my knowledge, there is not an OOB way to achieve it. As a workaround, you can custom the web part to implement it. There is an articles for your reference:
http://blogs.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/posts/13-11-05/add-excel-like-multi-select-filtering-to-your-asp.net-datagrid
In addition, you can use a third party solution to achieve it, please take a look at:
http://abilitics.com/Blog/index.php/sharepoint-improved-grids-with-excel-like-inline-editing/

I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Wendy

How to use displacement Filter with a jpeg image?
Hi there,
I'm trying to use the displacement filter with a jpeg image instead of a gradient map. My images are:
1) Background: men2.jpg
2) Map image: men2BN.jpg (same as above, but grayscale and blurred)
3) The image to be displaced: star5_mc
I'll appreciate very much any help with this issue, Thanks in advance. Madrid.create a bitmapdata instance (using the new constructor) and then apply the filter to your bitmap instance.

Hi Gurus,
What is the use of filter with similar request option in which scenarios we will use these option.
Thanks,Hi, David
Yes, this same one is the problem. But as indicates Obiee 1 Kenobi is a problem recognized by Oracle (Based on further research, it is not possible to use a union table to pass the filter to a target table.Bug 6067587 has been raised as a fix for this, and the "fixby" version is 11.1.1.2)
At the moment solve the problem using filters with AND-OR.
Thank you for your help.
