Metadata in Watermarks?

I'm guessing this is not possible but... in ACDSee I can have the program stamp a bunch of images with this text...
Raw image for compositional review only.
Please refer to this image as '<File Properties:Filename>'
Phil Rose Photography
Where <File Properties:Filename> is replaced with the filename. I do this because my galleries frequently confuse clients for some reason and they look at '25 for 436' and refer to '25' instead of the filename which leads to mucho confusion! I'm assuming that that's not possible in LR as yet or am I missing something? Will I need to continue outputting from LR and having ACDSee do the stamping work?
Thanks all,
Phil

No, that's not possible.
You may want to use a third-party plugin, like LR2/Mogrify.

  • Metadata into watermark

    Hi,
    This is a feature request I heard from many school photographers :
    Would it be possible to use metadata in the watermark and to access a watermark template editor similar to the one we use to rename pictures ?
    Thanks,
    Em

    That would be a great request.  This forum is primarily focused on the new features and bugs in the beta release, so it'll be closed when the beta finishes.  The best place to get your requests considered is the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family because others can also add their votes so Adobe can see which requests are most popular, and the requests can be easily tracked.  They stand a much better chance of getting attention there too.

  • Can I make a metadata-based watermark (e.g. - filename) in LR3?

    I would like to use filename metadata as part of a watermark in LR3.  I am hoping I can do this for building client review web galleries in LR3 so clients can easily identify image selects.  Is this possible?

    There's a work-around: Add the file name into the fields for caption or for title. In the web-module you can specify to add title or caption or both - In the web module right side in the panel <Image Info>.
    Or you can add the file name into the field for Contact info. Naturally all this has to be done manually for each image. So it's only workable for a few images.

  • Quality of jpegs is very poor

    can you help me work out why the quality of the jpegs I export from lightroom is so poor. The problem is most evident in plain, light areas of photos (such as clear sky) where I end up with a series of lines and rough gradations as the tone gradually changes across the image.

    Quality = 60 is your problem.

  • Is the 2.1.2 update safe ?

    I'm tired of updating and than downgrading again.
    Can some of the brave people please post if this update actually fixed bugs, or introduced more bugs (like the last few updates did).
    I'm constantly in the middle of deadlines, hence my fear of updating. But I really want to try this one.
    The reason is that one bug introduced earlier, where the image previews in the import dialog only show dotted lines, is litterarly taking me hours to process and sort my everydays work.
    I'm preparing to switch to a more serious system, but in the meantime if apple managed to fix this nasty thing, it might speed up my work again.

    Try deleting the preferences file. If that doesn't work, delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Aperture but note that this will delete any export/metadata/naming/watermark/shortcut etc. presets that you have created.

  • Web gallery for iPad and iPhone -- your suggestions

    Hi,
    My current website has Flash-based galleries created in LR using SlideShowPro.  I want to create an alternate web gallery for viewing on the iPad and iPhone.  Can someone here recommend a LR web gallery plug-in for this purpose?  If possible, I'd like the gallery to work the way the iPhone Camera Roll works, but at very least, I'd like viewers to be able to simply flick their way through the images.  (SlideShowPro Director does this, but I'm not quite ready to take on its complexity.)
    I found a pretty nice solution here:
    http://tmaphotography.perso.sfr.fr/#PictOnMobile -- the mobile gallery
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks very much.

    Someone else just asked this and I answered. You can use the hard drive publish service to push photos into a gallery that synchronizes with iTunes. It works really well.
    Here is the other post:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4410886#4410886
    I use the hard drive publish service to create galleries for my iPad. I setup iTunes to sync photos from a particular folder, and then setup Lightroom to publish to that folder. Each time I want to create a new gallery for my iPad, I just create a new published folder and drop the photos into that folder. Then I publish the photos. The publish feature allows me to update photos in collections easily, as well as setup specific sizes for export to my iPad.
    I have also used published smart collections for my portfolio images. When I tag a photo with a particular gallery keyword, it gets added to the collection. I then just publish the photos in the service and I've got them on my ipad. It works really well!
    Setup a hard drive publish service
    Open the Library module
    Go to the Publish Services.
    Press the + to and choose Go to publishing manager.
    Click Add
    Choose Hard drive as the service type. Name the publish service iPad Photos
    Choose to export your photos to a specific location. Make note of this location and instruct iTunes to use the same location for synchronizing photos. Do not choose to put in a subfolder.
    Choose the format as JPEG, Color space as sRGB, and set your quality in the File Settings section.
    Choose to resize your photos to fit the iPad in the image resizing section. I have chosen Width & Height of 1500x1500. This will give black bars if your photo doesn't match the aspect ratio of the iPad. You can also choose Dimensions and set a dimension. The output photo will be cropped to fill the screen. I have an iPad 2 and wanted to be able to zoom a bit, so I chose dimensions larger than the iPad.
    Set the other options as needed -- sharpening, metadata, and watermarking.
    Click Save.
    Back at the Library module you should now find your new publish service. Create a gallery.
    Right click the service and choose Create Published Folder.
    Name the folder the name you want to appear in your iPad Photos app.
    Drop files from the photo browser into this new collection.
    Right click the collection and choose Publish Now.
    Repeat these 4 steps anytime you want to create a new gallery on your iPad.
    All you need to do now is to sync the photos on your ipad using iTunes.

  • Losing metadata when adding watermark

    I have a .jpg file that was created in Photoshop. If I import it into Acrobat and save it out, the metadata stays. If I add a watermark to this file, it erases the metadata. Any ideas on why? I am using Acrobat XI Pro on a Macbook Pro running Yosemite.

    Hi Michael ,
    It would be great if you could share the file on [email protected] so that we check at our end how and what exactly is happening.

    I don't think you can do that in Develop or Library, as LR2.7 does not have a explicit watermark editor, and the options in export are very limited.

  • Is there a way to export photo images and their metadata from Adobe Bridge to MS excel?

    Is there a plugin, or script that allows photos and their metadata to be exported from Adobe Bridge to Microsoft excel?

    I would like to see the description with the image when it is attached to an email.  I would also like to be able to create a DVD of the images that would include the descriptions when the DVD is played back.
    For that you will need iDVD to create a slideshow of the images and then display either the Title, Description or both as shown below and then burn to disk creating a video DVD to play on a TV set:
    If you want the description on the image itself you'll need to use a 3rd party editor like one of those below or the free watermark iPhoto plugin, BorderFX.
    Some Image Editors That Support layers:
    Photoshop Elements 11 for Mac - $79
    GraphicConverter - $40
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50
    Pixelmator - $60

  • How To Use a css File To Watermark A Report

    Hello.
    I am using Apex 4.0.1 and have a need to place a watermark (that is, a background image) over a report, both a "classic" type and Interactive Report.
    I have two questions about this.
    1) I've searched this Forum and found several good questions/responses about this subject. What I think is the most maintainable solution is to create a .css file and reference this file within the Template section of a copy of, say, the "Reports Region" template used by my application theme. And so, I made a copy of the "Reports Region" template and called it "Watermark Reports Region". I then created a very simple .css file called "bgimg.css" defined as:
    #REGION_STATIC_ID# {
    background-image: url(#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#menu_bug.png) !important;
    background-repeat: repeat !important;
    background-attachment: fixed !important;
    Note: For those that may not know, the "!important" clause is, in fact, a css defined clause used to tell the browser that it should give the associated option the highest precedence. This prevents my desired css option from being overridden by another css file. Frankly, I myself did not know this until after I saw it being used in several of the responses on this Forum and then read up about it.
    I uploaded this css file via the Apex "Shared Components -> Cascading Style Sheets" option. I also made sure that menu_bug.png is, in fact, among my workspace images.
    I also made sure that my "Watermark Reports Region" template contains the substitution variable "REGION_STATIC_ID" and that my actual report region has a value in the Region Static Id field.
    Within my "Watermark Reports Region" template, I tried to reference my .css file. This is where I think my problem is.
    I placed
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#bgimg.css" />
    at the very top of the Template section in my "Watermark Reports Region" template.
    I then assigned my template to my Apex report. When I run my report, I see nothing.
    So, how does one reference this css file within the template?
    =================================================
    2) I tried using my css tags as an internal style by placing it within the "HTML Header" section of my application page. I used:
    <style type="text/css">
    #empreport {
    background-image: url(#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#menu_bug.png) !important;
    background-repeat: repeat !important;
    background-attachment: fixed !important;
    </style>
    I assigned a div tag to my report region header and footer that looks like:
    In Header: <div id="empreport">
    In Footer: </div>
    When I run the report, I do get the image. But it is surrounding the report. It looks like my report is "floating" in a sea of bug images.
    So, how can I get these images to actually appear within the report itself. In other words, I want the report itself to be "transparent" so as to allow these images to be seen within the report body itself.
    Thank you all for any help/advice/code example.
    Elie

    Elie
    Thanks for taking the time to post sufficient information to understand the problem. In future if you're going to such efforts you might want to use them to reproduce the problem on apex.oracle.com, which means you can share actual working (or more likely not working!) code. Please also always wrap code posted on the forum in tags<tt>\...\</tt> tags to preserve formatting and special characters.

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#bgimg.css" />

    >
    According to the relevant HTML 4.01 and XHTML 1.x standards, <tt>style</tt> and <tt>link rel="stylesheet"</tt> elements should only appear within the <tt>head</tt> element of a document.
    This changes in HTML5. The new <tt>scoped</tt> attribute allows <tt>style</tt> to be used in a prescribed way elsewhere in the document, with the effect that the styling rules specified are only to be applied to the other descendant elements of that <tt>style</tt> element's parent (in the way you're trying to do here). I'd expect <tt>link</tt> with a <tt>rel="stylesheet"</tt> to remain restricted to <tt>head</tt> content in HTML5: off the top of my head I can't see a use case for referencing external stylesheets in a non-metadata context.
    That said, current browsers apply CSS regardless of where in the document it appears, and future HTML5-compliant ones will continue to continue to do so for backwards compatibility. For myself, when using XHTML 1.0 I'll continue to follow the only put <tt>style</tt> and <tt>link</tt> elements in the page <tt>head</tt>. When I get round to using HTML5 for real I'll follow the standards for that as well.
    I strongly recommend that you follow the standards and only put <tt>link rel="stylesheet"</tt> elements in the page <tt>head</tt>.

    Use <tt>!important</tt> only where it's actually needed. It's over-represented in this forum because Oracle changed the order of style sheet inclusion in APEX 4.0 and made it more difficult to override theme styles using CSS in the page HTML Header without modifying page templates.
    Try your styles initially without using <tt>!important</tt>, and also consider using the cascade to provide any necessary overrides by including your CSS after other style sheets.

    Because <tt>#WORKSPACE_IMAGES#</tt> is not substituted in external CSS files: +{thread:id=986329}+
    If possible it's much better to locate image, CSS and JavaScript files externally on the file system. Otherwise you'll have to use the workaround suggested in that thread and include a <tt>style</tt> element in the page templates to specify the background image.
    When I run the report, I do get the image. But it is surrounding the report. It looks like my report is "floating" in a sea of bug images.Reports are descendants of their region containers and may be subject to additional built-in or theme styles that overrides that specified for the region. Your CSS selector has to specify the report element, not the entire region.
    So, how can I get these images to actually appear within the report itself. In other words, I want the report itself to be "transparent" so as to allow these images to be seen within the report body itself.I'd use a <tt>class</tt> attribute in the region template: this removes the need to use the <tt>#REGION_STATIC_ID#</tt> selector, and allows the CSS to go in the page <tt>head</tt> where it belongs. Add <tt>watermark-report-region</tt> in addition to any existing <tt>class</tt> values in the region template:
    <div class="borderless-region watermark-report-region" id="#REGION_STATIC_ID#" #REGION_ATTRIBUTES#>
      <div class="bl-body">#BODY#</div>
    </div>You may have to inspect the page source (use a web inspector like that found in Safari, or the Firefox+Firebug combo) to figure out what has to be overridden in the theme/templates you're using. This worked for an Interactive Report using theme 17:
    .watermark-report-region .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA {
      background: #fff url(/i/menu/blank_app_32.gif);
    .watermark-report-region .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA tr.even td,
    .watermark-report-region .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA tr.odd td {
      background-color: transparent;
    }For a standard report you'll need to identify the selector required for the actual report element (equivalent to the <tt>apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA</tt> table) using the web inspector or from the report template. It would be a good idea to create standard report template(s) incorporating a <tt>watermark-report</tt> class on the report table to provide a simple selector for such reports.

  • Javascript code to retrieve metadata - must run twice to work

    Hi all
    This is frustrating the hell out of me. I've got a script to batch add headers/footers (via watermarks) to a range of pdf documents by using the respective document's metadata (title, subject).
    Checked everything: Script running ok, metadata all there and fine.
    However - I need to run the script twice in order for the metadata to be processed. What I mean: I open a given document, run the script on it and the metadata is not displayed in the header/footer. Save the document and close. I then run the script on the same document again and all works fine, i.e. the metadata title is displayed in the header and the metadata subject is displayed in the footer. Driving me nuts.
    What am I **** wrong? How can I get this to work on the first run? Guessing it might have to do with some specific form of variable declaration or pre-parsing the metadata?!
    Script below (please not, I've also tried declaring 2 variables and assigning the metadata title & subject to them, then calling those variables in the watermark statements ... same result):
    /* Batch Header - DocProp Title */
    var i = 0
    this.addWatermarkFromText({
        cText: this.info.title,
        nTextAlign: app.constants.align.center,
        cFont: "Century Gothic",
        nFontSize: 8,
        nHorizAlign: app.constants.align.center,
        nVertAlign: app.constants.align.top,
        nHorizValue: 10, nVertValue: -10,
            nScale: -1
    this.addWatermarkFromText({
        cText: "Q-Pulse Id " + this.info.Subject,
        nTextAlign: app.constants.align.left,
        cFont: "Century Gothic",
        nFontSize: 8,
        nHorizAlign: app.constants.align.left,
        nVertAlign: app.constants.align.bottom,
        nHorizValue: 20, nVertValue: 10
    this.addWatermarkFromText({
        cText: "Active 10/12/2014",
        nTextAlign: app.constants.align.center,
        cFont: "Century Gothic",
        nFontSize: 8,
        nHorizAlign: app.constants.align.center,
        nVertAlign: app.constants.align.bottom,
        nVertValue: 10
    Hope someone can help with this. Guessing it's something simple code related that I'm not aware of - I'm a complete novice.

    My guess is your watermarks are overwriting one another, as they are all
    saved under an OCG with the same name. Try flattening the page after adding
    them, or use a different method, like a form field or an annotation.

  • In Export module, Simple watermark does not appear in my photos

    I make it a habit to always place a simple watermark on all my photos during Export. When i was using LR3 this always worked, but when I recently updated to LR5.2 the Copyright watermark does not show in my photos. I tried several repetitions exporting to .JPEG files, making sure that the Watermarking box is checked. Still, the photos do not show the Copyright symbol and my name.
    What is happening?

    Jim,
    Following your last post lthis is what I did:
    1. In LR5.2, (Library) Export Module, I clicked on the "Export' box
    2. In Export File the following shows:
         Metadata
         Include: All metadata
          "Remove location info" box checked
         Watermarking
         Watermark box at left checked, and selection checked for "simple copyright watermark"
    In the iMac Pictures folder I looked up the exported file and it shows no watermark
    When this same file is uploaded to Flickr, no watermark appears.
    I am wondering if. under metadata, I should select "Simple copyright" instead of "All metadata."

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Add watermark to digitally signed pdf?

    Greetings,
    Is there a way to add a watermark to a digitally signed pdf using Acrobat 9 Pro? I was able to do this using Acrobat 8, but Acrobat 9 restricts this change.
    Invalidating the signatures is not an issue as the watermarked copies would be considered uncontrolled.
    Thank you.

    A - if you add XMP-based metadata (which has bene the preferred method of metadata since PDF 1.4) in "append mode", that will not invalidate any signatures on the document.
    B - Yes.

  • Editing Autofill List for Custom Metadata Fields

    I have 13,000+ photographs cataloged in Aperture 2.1 In an effort to better manage these photographs, I have added custom metadata for my own use. The fields let me know whether I have printed for my portfolio, watermarked, added to my web site, status of release, etc. All of this data is manually entered and at times my fingers don't always hit the correct keys on the keyboard so I end up with autofill data that is incorrect. I have been unable to find a way to edit the autofill data for custom metadata fields. Selecting 'Edit Autofill List' does not give me access to my custom field autofill information. Am I missing something? Is this an oversight on my part or on the part of the application?

    Unfortunately I'm not using presets to do this. I don't think presets will help me with this, but it could be just that I don't understand presets that well. I use presets for entering Metadata from a shoot as I 'import' the raw files into Aperture. Maybe I'm trying to do something that Aperture was never intended to do, yet I need to have as few locations where I track
    As an example, as I print a photograph for my portfolio I mark one of the custom fields labelled 'Printed' as 'Yes'. Later I can locate those 4 or 5 star photographs that haven't been printed and decide if I want to print them. I use the same type of arrangement for my website with an 'Added to web' indicator as 'Yes'. I may also mark that 'Printed' field as 'N/A'. The reason follows. For watermarking photographs before adding them to my site via iWeb, I export and the photographs and then reimport the watermarked photographs into a separate project but since these photographs are at a lower resolution, have a different color profile and are jpegs, I never print them for my portfolio so I mark them 'N/A' in the 'Printed' field. Well my fingers do slip on the keys and before I realize it the nifty autofill now requires that I type not just the 'N' to get an 'N/A', but I must type it all, because one time I typed 'N and a space' or some such and that is what autofills. It even happens with 'Yes'. I suppose the real answer is to be more careful as I type, but that is not my reality.
    So, all I'm looking for is a way to have access to the autofill list that is created for my custom metadata fields so that I can delete the erroneous autofill entry. I've thought about deleting the field entirely and recreating it, but that would remove all those indicators or flags that I have already entered for my photographs.
    Alternatively I could find an IPTC field that I am not using and find a way to use it, (because those fields have autofill lists that can be edited). However my record keeping would be exported with the photograph. Some of the information that I collect is private and should not be included in the metadata while other information should be; that is why I've settled on custom metadata fields.
    I hope there is a simple answer to this that I'm overlooking.
    If someone else has another way of tracking this same information that is better than the custom metadata fields, I would like to hear about it. However, it would mean reworking all my photographs that Aperture currently manages.
