Metadata informations in grid view

I would like to get better readable metadata information on the frames of the thumbnails in grid view and if possible in the extended version also on the bottom part of the frame. The light gray in the second line has too low contrast.
In German version (or you cuold do this for general) there should be a possibility to shorten the information for a + or - exposure correction in e.g. +1EV or - 0.5EV, because now it take to much space and therefore it is not readable. This information is very important for HDR and therefore it would be great if you could optimize the design.

This forum is primarily focused on the new features and bugs in the beta release, so it'll be closed when the beta finishes.  The best place to get your requests considered is the Feature Request forum http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family because others can also add their votes so Adobe can see which requests are most popular, and the requests can be easily tracked.  They stand a much better chance of getting attention there too.

  • How can I see the metadata in the grid view?

I am in View/Metadata Display/Customize and trying to set it so in the Grid view [which I take to mean the browser in grid style as opposed to list] and trying to have below each image the - Rating, version name, caption and keywords.  I check my List and there are entries in all of those four categories.  I checked the Grid View Expanded and all four are listed under Display Order.  Adn Show Metadata below image is checked.  But when I set it all up, only the Rating and Version name shows up  no Caption and no Keywords   tho there are entries in both and both are included in the list of the Grid Expanded View.
Any suggestions?  I have unchecked and cleared out all those and reentered and reset them up and that hasn't worked.

Do they show up if you make the thumbnails in Grid View larger?
I'm pretty sure Metadata Overlays for Grid View and Viewer are limited to one line for Badges & Ratings & Color Labels, and one line for all other metadata (in both the Browser and the Viewer).  Put your most needed metadata field first in the list.  I often need to see Keywords, and I often need to see the timestamp, and I often keep my Images in grid view small -- so I've set up Grid View Basic to start with the timestamp, and Grid View Expanded to start with Keywords.
Of course, that won't be useful if enlarging your thumbnails in Grid View doesn't show the missing metadata.
"Show below Image" forces the line with the Badges, etc., to go below the Image.  If unchecked, this top line of the Metadata Overlay is superimposed on the bottom of the Image.

  • MetaData information about views in a schema--Please help

I want to access the metadata information about a view say,View1 in the schema schema1.How can this be done?

    Hi,
I want to access the details about columns in the view. The listed tables contain only the Query corresponding to the view.
Is there a view in Oracle (SYS Schema) that presents the Metadata information in the format similar to USER_TAB_COLUMNS(the metadata view for tables in sys schema).

  • My file names have disappeared in grid view. Thery have been replaced with a dark bar along the bottom of the previews. If I toggle using the command u it hide the bar but I still can't see the file name. In list view all the file names are OK.

My file names have disappeared in grid view. Thery have been replaced with a dark bar along the bottom of the previews. If I toggle using the command u it hide the bar but I still can't see the file name. In list view all the file names are OK.

The dark bar is caused by the option "Show metadata below image".
Check the settings for the metadata overlays in Grid view (basic and expanded) by clicking the little "badge" icon below the Browser and selecting "Edit". Is the filename still enabled in the list? And in a high enough position to have precedence for other metadata tags, if the space does not suffice to show all selected tags?

  • LR2 - multiple image exif doesn't work, in Grid View

In Grid View, I need to place the same information in EXIF Label and Caption fields in multiple selected images. It doesn't matter if I select them all first and then type the information, or enter it into one image, select the others, and then paste the information. Only 1 image will accept the information at a time. I have to cut and paste the info into each image individually.
(I know I posted this question earlier, but it seems to have gotten lost after one response that did not solve the problem, sorry....)
    bill

To start off, you can't change any EXIF data using the metadata panel in LR. All the EXIF fields are "read-only".
You didn't indicate your OS, but here's the procedure on the Mac version (I think it's indentical on Windows):
Be sure you are in grid mode in the library (the G shortcut key).
Select the images to be changed.
Enter the info in the caption field in the metadata panel on the right, and press enter.
How exactly are you doing it?

  • Grouping TV Show Seasons in Grid View

Is there a way to group all seasons of a TV show together in Grid View? Instead of seeing three icons for "Arrested Development Season 1", "Arrested Development Season 2", and "Arrested Development Season 3" (for example) I just want to see one icon for "Arrested Development". Is that possible (without removing the season information from the metadata)?

You have to remove the *Season No.* values to merge the seasons into one icon. Use an *Episode ID* pattern such as s##e## to organise the episodes in the correct order.

  • Why are keywords not being shown in the Browser Grid View

    Hi,
All the tutorials and manuals seem to have screenshots showing the browser grid view images with keywords at the bottom of the image. Now matter what i try i cannot get them to show up. Here are some of the things I've tried/observed.
    - in the split view and viewer views the keywords show up as expected
    - used the "browser metadata overlays" option (bottom right) to switch the browser between "show metadata" and "switch to basic view"
    - used the "browser metadata overlays" edit option to confirm that both basic and standard overlays/views are configured to show keywords (ie. keyword is in the list on the right)
    - i can see labels (red, green etc) in the browser grid view
    - quit, deleted all my library preferences, restarted aperture
Are you seeing keywords in the browser view? Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?
Also note I imported my library from iPhoto.
    Cheers
    Oliver

Hi i dont have primary checked heres what ive done
Hi thank youve tried editing all the basic and extended metadata options and so far i have managed to get the key words to show up on one photo at a time with a colour label.
To do this i have to go to the metadata tab on the left add a custom field to the general tab called it keywords to keep things simple lol.
This is the only way of getting my keyword to appear below the photo
However when i try and tag all the photos in the project with the same keyword and label it only tags the last one in the project ive held down cmd /option /ctrl nothing / some of these just tag one random picture with the metadata
i thank you guys in advance for your help

  • Rating / Label "Buttons" active, although not shown in Grid View

While I was investigating the reason for JPEG images being written back with no obvious changes applied to them (see also How to filter on Metadata Status "Has been changed"?) I noticed something I think is a bug:
Becaus it sometimes happened to me that I unintentially changed the rating for a picture because I wanted to click into the frame of an image to select it as the only image, I have set my Library View Options as follows for Compact Cell Extras (for a better description also see Grid View: Flags, Rating, Color Label read only? / Mark Images Read only?):
    Index Number checked
Top Label checked with File Name
    Rotation unchecked
Bottom Label unchecked with Rating and Label
Now, if I click into the area, where rating or color label would show (if shown), the rating of the images changes. So I am clicking on an option I don't even see ...
This was one of the reasons, why metadata in pictures sometimes  would get updated without me knowing why. Anybody else who has experienced this behaviour?

P.S: My workaround now is to have Common Photo Settings shown in the bottom label.

Yes it's a bug. I see it on Mac platform.

  • Is there any way to get keywords to show up in grid view?

Being able to see the keywords assigned to each photo in grid view would be incredibly helpful to me for managing my photos and videos as I add new keywords.  Just seeing the "this photo has keywords" tag does not help.  I need to see the actual keywords, without having to click on each individual photo to see them.

There is no way at present. It was conidered a long time back, but trying to show kywords on a postage stamp wasn't deemed good use of engineering time. An alterntive similar to the Bridge Metadata layout (configurable table view) has been suggested a few times, but I've not seen anything to indicate that it got much traction.

  • List View shows all tracks of CD, grid view is missing tracks

I imported all my CDs into my iTunes library over the holidays. Over 40 GB of music. Now, I discover a flakey problem. On a CD, if I view via list view, the library shows 13 tracks. When switching to grid view and double-clicking on album, it shows tracks 1,2,4,6,9,12
When I use windows explorer, the iTunes folder only shows tracks 1,2,4,6,9,12. Yet I can play all 13 tracks on PC and iPod. Where are the 'missing' tracks being stored and why don't they show in both views? This is happening on quite a lot of the CDs that were imported, but others are fine.

This is most likely due to the content of the ID3 tags in the imported files. If a track features more than one artist, iTunes uses the first artist in the list to sort and organise the files. So one or more files imported from a CD might be stored in another artist's folder. iTunes plays the full album because it knows where all the tracks are (by virtue of the iTunes library database).
To get around this problem, edit the information for all the tracks on an album so the the "Artist" tag has the main artist first in the list.

  • Drag and drop option in grid view

    Hi,
I'm editing a large baptisim (750 photos) where I had another photographer. I nede the images in event order. On import, the photos are all over the place. I realise what I should have done, but now I'm here, I want to manualy drag and drop the photos in library-grid view. I'm dragging the photo and moving it, but it won't replace itself. What am I missing? Please help!

But you can find two images from different cameras that appear to be shot at the same time or within a small interval. You can use their capture times to calculate the gap between the two camera's clocks.
Now separate your files by cameras using the Library Filter (or Metadata Browser on LR 1.x) and make global time corrections with the Edit Capture Time command.
Capture time shifts the date/time of each file in the selection by the same amount as you set for the 'most-selected' (or primary select) file.
In the end, yes, sort by capture time.
Export the whole shoot using a sequence in the file-name so they sort correctly on your customer's system.

  • ITunes 8.0.1 Grid View & audiobooks

I'm experiencing weird views when using Grid View for Audiobooks. I have a lot of them (many 2 or more files per book) and only 1 or 2 are actually clustered by title. All of the others are appearing as single books. One or two actually have correctly clustered the 2 parts for the title and display as one cover with (2 items) underneath.
I've searched the forums and haven't found anything related to this. These are books by the same author with the same title, not compilations. Also, for the ones displaying "correctly," the titles are all formatted precisely the same as the ones displaying incorrectly. (Note: if I change to Artists view in Grid, it clusters all book files for that author under a single bookcover - obviously only correct for one of the books).
Anyone have a clue how to make audiobooks clsuter correctly? These are all being downloaded from Audible.com and come with the same metadata for each title.
    Thanks!

I have the same problem when I download from Audible.com. I gave them a call with no help. I suspect they are importing the audio book into itunes without sorting the download by book name somehow. If you get a response that helps pass it along. They basically said to look at it in the list view only. All the book artworks are loaded correctly but the grid view doesn't recognize the separate books.

  • Is there a way to hide the square cells in Library's Grid view?

    Hi,
I'm moving from iPhoto from LR. I'm wondering if there's a way to display the photos in the Library (Grid View) without the square cells, so that they resemble the iPhoto display:
I know that I can remove the metadata display using the View Options, but I can't see how to display the photos without the square grid lines (which I find distracting):
    Thanks!
    Doug

There are only limited options to control the display appearance in Lightroom. I don't think any of your requests are possible.

  • Rounded Corners in Grid View

Seriously someone please tell me how to get rid of these rounded corners in grid view. I can handle a subtle curve on the corners but these are 32x32 pixel curves on every corners. Any bigger and I'll be browsing album artwork circles in grid view. The white background is annoying enough but this is about to make me ditch the program.

What I propose is the bottom of each thumbnail. Because the size of the thumbnail is variable mixed, possibly, with a 3 or 4 line word wrap this space would be more then enough for many users. Alternately, a new grid view with one photo on the left side coupled with extensive metadata on the right would enable quick views of keywords/metadata. Other programs such as acdsee pro have implemented similar functionality which I have found extremely valuable. The ability, at quick glance, to see how photos have been tag will greatly increase the efficiency of tagging. I agree that many users may find the function limiting, but they dont have to use it.

  • Artworks does not appear in List and Grid view, but in Cover Flow

Since a few days the Artwork does neither appear in the List and the Grid View nor in the Genius Mix. When I change to Cover Flow, I can see all Artwork. I see all Artwork also in the information tabs. I already upgraded to the last iTunes version 9.0.2 but without any effect. Restarting iTunes and my PC doesn't help at as well.
Does anybody have an idea what the problem is and how it can be solved?

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
A completely blank Cover Flow can sometimes be a graphics driver problem but if Grid & List views have problems then it is probably a corrupted artwork cache. With iTunes closed rename the *Album Artwork* folder as *Album Artwork (OLD)*. Start iTunes and slowly scroll through your library in Grid mode. The cache will be rebuilt for all albums where there is embedded art. Albums that only had iTunes Store art will need to have new artwork downloaded. If all goes well delete the old artwork folder.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus.
