Metadata missing

I've been having a play with Lightroom 1.0 trial, but my
imported images show no XMP/IPTC metadata that was added
with iView MediaPro to both JPEG and DNG files. Bridge and
CS2 show all the metadata as expected in the same files,
Lightroom shows none of but the EXIF. Any suggestions as to
the possible cause?

>a bug or a user error of some sort.
My fault, but it's a bit confusing. There's a "Metadata"
drop-down in the import dialog which is blank by default. If
I don't touch it then the metadata gets imported... but I
misunderstood it's purpose and as a result accidentally made
the importer deliberately lose the metadata.
It's certainly a case of RTFM but I'd have expected the UI
to have been a bit more intuitive in this case. Anyhow, many
thanks for the assistance, I now know what I did wrong and
have my 23k images imported.

  • PDFs appear with fragmented images, metadata missing

Can anyone help with this one?
We use InDesign CS3 to create PDF 1.6's, directly from InDesign export. The metadata contained in the images on the layout normally are visible when you control click and select "show metadata" on the image in the resulting PDF with Acrobat's touch up object tools. Ocassionally, there is an unknown problem in the process where a given image will "fragment" -- when you click on it in the PDF, a frame surrounds only part of the image, and there's no "show metadata" choice to select. This is kiling us because we doconstruct those PDFs and put them into our long term archive, and the metadata is missing there!
    Any help would be appreicated!
    Thanks.

Sounds like some type transparency flattening going on in there. InDesign itself has issues when exporting to lower PDF versions (1.3) and also if transparent objects are around say hyperlinks/buttons etc. The XMP data can be destroyed since it's been broken down and is not the original content any more.

  • Keywords Metadata Missing from Copied JPEGs

Im new to metadata tagging with Adobe Bridge CS4 version 3.0.0.464 on Windows XP. I am able to add keywords to JPEG Images (taken with my Nikon D90), but I have noticed when I copy those images using Windows Explorer (or any MS Windows Copy Paste File Action), the copied image doesnt always retain all of its metadata. For example, if I have a folder with 8 jpeg images, all identical metadata, when I copy those images using explorer, only 3 of those copied images will have the metadata while 5 will show up with No Keywords at all (Using Adobe Bridge to see the results). When I copy the images inside of Adobe Bridge, the metadata is copied perfectly. What worries me is that I use a Microsoft utility called Robocopy to backup by files, and this tool seems to suffer from the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Are these .xmp files normally in the same directory as the images? I have Windows setup to show all files, even the hidden system files. I don't see any sidecar files. I played around with the the Preferences>Metadata>"Supports XMP" option and didn't see a difference.
I wrote some C# code to open up these JPEGs and found that some of the files that copied had the xmp xml embedded into the image while in others it is missing.

  • Metadata missing from iPhoto

I've just been forced to change from iPhoto to the Photo app and can I say I'm less than impressed.  It is so much more difficult to navigate to start with.  Half my photos have come across without their metadata such as titles.  I spent hours sorting my photo library and naming photos and now I have photos that are missing everything.  Is there any way to get it back?  Why did this happen to some and not all?  Very disappointed that the transfer wasn't seamless.  Now I suppose I'll be spending hours again trying to relabel everything.  Any solutions?

You weren't forced. Just launch iPhoto and keep using it if you want to.

  • Importing to iTunes moves previously proper files to unknown folder.  Metadata missing inside of iTunes.  Help!

I've been having problems with iTunes for a long time now and have yet to find the solution.
I store my complete library on my external hard drive.  When I import a CD into the iTunes on my Mac that had previously been imported on another computer, my iTunes refuses to recognize the artist and album information.  It only recognizes the track number and track name.
I had imported tracks on a PC in WMA format, and converted them using iTunes on my PC to WAV.  They showed up in my iTunes on my PC just fine that way.  I then copied the new WAV files in their proper Artist/Album/Tracks folders from my PC's iTunes Media folder to my external drive.  When I import those files now on my external drive to iTunes on my Mac, the files move to Unknown Artist folder on my external drive.  I've got preferences set to place files in my external drive's music folder.  What can I do differently?
I've tried "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" which then immediately takes files out of my organized locations and moves them to the Unknown Arist folder even when I'm not importing.  I've also tried "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library."  I tried just importing directly from a flash drive hoping it would copy files that were moments ago recognized correctly on my PC's iTunes to my external drive's Music folder correctly.  Doesn't work.  Still imports songs to iTunes with no artist or album data and places them in the annoying Unknown Artist folder on my external drive.
When I import a disc directly to iTunes (sending it to the computer's iTunes Media folder when my external isn't connected), it recognized the data correctly.  Then if I connect my external and copy the files from the computer's internal drive to my external Music folder, delete the files in iTunes, and then import the files from their new location, they are then unrecognized as having Artist and Album information.  A few years ago I had no issue moving files this way and everything stayed organized.  I'm guessing Apple fudged something up in an update?
What the heck?  Is there a different program I could use (whether on PC or Mac) that would import the disc information and keep the metadata attached and fix my issues?  I eventually will need to transfer my external drive's files to another drive, as externals are not permanent storage solutions, so when I eventually import all my music in iTunes again I won't have the time or the energy to rename every track independently.  Why doesn't the information recognized by iTunes remain associated with that file when I move the file to another location and reimport to iTunes?
Any help would be sincerely appreciated.  This has been a long struggle for me with no answers and my music collection is extremely important to me.

There have many reports here of large adds not running to completion. Sometimes it will die on a certain troublesome file, and sometimes there is no obvious reason.
Since you have verified that the individual files seem to be fine, the workaround is to add the folders in smaller batches.

Looks like EPMA batch client in 11.1.2.1 does not have any mention of some of the options available through workspace. Options like LOADID, Fully Deploy and Clear Metadata are no where to be found.

First log an enhancement ticket with Oracle.
Your next move is to find someone that can hack the Java code and perform non-Oracle approved customizations -- in my experience this can be as easy as four hours of research and work or could take quite a bit longer -- then you have to ask if you are paying for this work is it worth a few thousand dollars of time if you don't have these skills in your company to leverage and also if you ever do patching the customization needs to be remade and may not be as easy as the first time.

  • GPS Metadata missing in Bridge

I have a problem with seeing GPS metadata in Bridge CS2.  I use a Gisteq datalogger to add GPS data to my DNG files and it writes the data to the associated XMP file. I can see it there if I open the XMP in Notepad.  If I view the file in Bridge, the GPS fields are blank.  I have set preferences to display all metadata fields even if blank. Is this a bug?

I just solved the problem myself. I am using Gisteq Phototracker Pro to add GPS data.  It works OK when a add the GPS data to a JPG.  I can view the GPS data in Bridge.  When I use a DNG file, I converted directly to a DNG in Bridge from the RAW file but did not do anything else with it. I then used Phototracker which created the XMP file with the GPS data in it.  There was no XMP file until then. I could see the GPS data in the XMP in Notepad but Bridge did not see it.
I picked up the DNG file in Bridge and changed some settings in Camera Raw and resaved the DNG.  It could then see the GPS data in Bridge.  Bridge did not know the XMP had been associated with the DNG after Phototracker had created it until I did something with it in Bridge.

  • LR 4.1RC2 bug reports: 1) no saving of video metadata 2) out of place dynamiclinkmediaserver folder

    Hi,
testing LR 4.1 RC2 x64 on a fresh Win 7 x64 system. Having noticed two bugs, I'm not sure where to report them... (and there is no official or Adobe-endorsed bug tracking system afaik).
    1b)
I have a bunch of digicam videos from my Panasonic LX3, originally in Mjpeg-in-Mov format, that I convert to vanilla h264 avi for more ease of use/saving storage space. Each video comes with an out-of-camera low-res Jpeg sidecar.
Having imported the converted avi + jpeg into the LR catalog, it appears that metadata can be saved neither in the videos nor in the Jpeg sidecars. As a side-effect, videos permanently appear as "Metadata unsaved" in various LR filters/smart collections.
    1b)
after import, the capture date of these videos is set to the converted file creation date (probably due to the lack of embedded capture date metadata in videos) which is wrong - there has to be a better solution than assuming filesystem stamps are reliable metadata.
And of course, here again this metadata can not be edited & saved. A tricky workaround is to read the capture date from the sidecar, set with a commandline utility the creation date of the video file, then import the video file.
Please consider fixing these two points: by allowing to read metadata first from videos, and if metadata missing, from companion sidecars (xmp, jpg...), then allowing to save edited metadata to these sidecar files (xmp, jpg...) if video files are not writable or their metadata too tricky to manage. Although not foolproof, that'd be better than no metadata capabilities for videos at all.
(Or perhaps allow users to permanently disable the video/Quicktime part of the software, leaving it to other third-part tools or the OS)
    2)
Upon using LR 4 RC2, some "Adobe\dynamiclinkserver\6.0" empty directory tree is created under %User%\Documents. If deleted, the folder gets recreated after later use of LR4. Guess it relates to the video-management part of the software.
Please consider fixing this or, if such a folder is really needed, placing it out of the users' Documents...
(Or perhaps allow users to permanently disable the video/Quicktime part of the software, leaving it to other third-part tools or the OS)
    • As a sidenote, LR 4.1RCs still complain about the incompatibility with Photoshop CS5.5. Not sure if there's any easy fix for this annoying fact, besides installing some trial Adobe PS CS6 [beta] on top of a fully-working CS 5.5 Suite.

  • Losing out custom metadata info of few documents of a document librarby when migrated from MOSS 2007 to Sharepoint 2010

We have recently migrated from moss2007 to sharepoint 2010.We have a document library containing large no. of documents in it  & for those documents there are some custom metadata columns apart from OOB library columns . We have user content DB attach
migration and after that we can see blank value under the custom columns for some records. However interesting point is we can see this metadata is showing for few documents.
    Please suggest.

    Hi,
What is your Office edition? When we create a managed metadata column in a Document Library, it will prompt that ‘Earlier versions of client programs might not support this type of column’. You should use Office 2010 to edit and create a document then save
    to document library .

  • IR and ID not registered in sld as exchange infrasructure ?

    Hi Guys,
We have installed NW2004s and SP 14.  The PI is configured for central sld on the solmanager. I did all the settings for the central sld.
If i go to Technical systems of type Exchange Infrastructure on central sld all the components except IR and ID are registred. I see there adapter engine, integration server,RWB but not ID and IR.
I cannot even import the SWCV from central sld into IR and i also dont see the list of adapters in ID and i get the error during the cache notification saying central sld cannot be reached.
any help would be really appreciated
    Thanks,

    Hi,
They will register themselves when you run them for the first time. Try it, if they don't, I can give you more information on the issue.
Also, check your Exchange Profile parameters for the host names, users and passwords.
For the adapter metadata missing in ID, did you import XI Content to the IR?

  • Audio Timecode Display Options in Bins.

In the project panel, the media start and end for audio clips displays in audio units or milliseconds.
Is there a way to show the embedded timecode?
When you load an audio clip into the source viewer you can see the timecode displayed.
I'm finding it difficult to locate the appropriate wild audio clips to sync with footage.

    Hi,
Thanks for the help! This option displays 00:00 on all files I import. Maybe there is some metadata missing on my audio files... But when I load an audio clip into the source viewer I am able to see embedded timecode that matches corresponding clips.
For example, a file in the project window displays Media start as 01:00:01.598. When I load it into the source viewer the source widow displays it as 00:59:58:00.
I'd just like to save the time and see video timecode in the bins. Thanks again for the help.

    Regards Christian

    From the Manual :-
    SchemaName
The name of the schema where the physical table that was updated resides.
Populate the SchemaName column only if the event table does not reside in the same database as the physical tables being updated. Otherwise, set it to the null value.
    TableName
The name of the physical table that was updated. The name has to match the name defined for the table in the Physical layer of the Administration Tool.
    Values cannot be null.
Can you check once to see if you really need to put the schemaname and also if the tablename defined in the RPD is the same as put in the insert statement. Finally, the user used in the connection pool should have delete rights on your polling table.
    hope this helps
