Metadata not saving in Illustrator CS6

I have come across multiple users with this same problem and have found no solution. I am creating files in illustrator and saving them as jpegs using 'save for web'. However, none of the user generated metadata is saved with the file. For example, Headline, Description, Keywords and Creator. Any suggestions???????

The files I am testing with are .jpg's. They ultimately need to be opened with Illustrator which is why I posted. I only tested with Photoshop to see what would happen and was pretty surprised to see the data there. Like I said, it works in CS5 Illustrator, CS6 Photoshop, but the data just doesn't show up in the CS6 Illustrator (in the advanced nor the raw tab), and when I view the .jpg with textedit the data is difinitely there. Pretty weird.

Google it and find some temp fix. run the illustrator by using "Run as admin" mode and fix the problem, but when use run as, can't see all the original user's mapping drives.
So still need it fixed.

It is win 7 64 bit system and same error on Illustrator x86 and x64.

MetaData in file not shown in Illustrator cs6 file info panel

I have a command line application that puts meta-data into files. It was created using the 5.1.2 xmp toolkit. The metadata is in the file. I can see it if I just use TextEdit to look at the file. I can also see the custom metadata in the Illustrator CS5 File Info Panel AND the Photoshop CS6 File Info Panel. The information doesn't show up in the Illustrator CS6 file info panel. Any clue why?

Pantone search not working in illustrator CS6

Hello everyone - this issue has been a problem for me in Illustrator CS6 for over a year now.
The Pantone Libray in Illustrator CS6 has a search box, but when I type in certain numbers (541 for example) it takes me to 7541. However, if I look around and manually pick the swatch by hovering (which takes forever and is ridiculous) I find it.
The 541 swatch is there but the search function doesn't work for many numbers. This is an incredible waste of time for me and after many updates and putting up with it for a year, I am at the end of my rope.
What solution would you all suggest short of buying yet another version of Illustrator which I find silly since I already shelled out several thousand dollars for this one and I do NOT want to have to buy new software because there's a bug Adobe refuses to patch.

wow actually that space workaround is still MUCH better than i've been dealing with so far, so thank you! i saw a thread where someone said to type a space beforehand but that doesn't work. you are the first person who's given me any sort of reasonable solution - greatly appreciated!!

Cmd-~ not cycling windows Illustrator CS6 Mac

Mac Air 10.9.4, Illustrator CS6
Since I upgraded to a laptop I have not been able to get the 'cycle windows' within Illustrator to work (cmd - ~). Doesn't seem to matter if settings are set to tabs or floating windows (preferred). Works fine in Photoshop and Bridge. Not sure what else to write.

Its a standard command for all their products so their should be a fix.

Problems saving in Illustrator CS6

Strange thing with Illustrator CS6. When I try to open or save a file I can only do this from dropbox??? But not from my harddisk.
I work with a Mac book pro, with Maverick, but everything worked fine until now this morning.
I can start a new document...but not save it.
When I try and click op the documents folder, the window closes.
Only when I hold; command, control, s and quickly choose dropbox, it works.
Has anybody the same problem?
I restarted already a few times.

Thank you for your reply. I checked that and there was no problem.
In the end I unplugged my computer and all connected devices and restarted after a cup of coffee. And that helped.
As I was able to work in Illustrator and save it to dropbox, my conclusion was also it had to be something with the disk and not with the programm, although Photoshop did not show the same issue.

File Info not saved (.gif) (Ps CS6 Extended, Mac)

I'm not certain that I've been building my workflow properly before, so if this was not supposed to be supported, I'm open to that possibility:
Modifying the "file info" for a gif file (in my case, "General" tab, "Document Title" and "Description") doesn't actually get saved with the file - or, at least, if it is saved, it's not visible when re-opening the file.
I believe that I understood that metadata for .png format isn't supported, but I thought that .gif was.
(Test case is easy: open .gif file, add a Title and Description, save, and re-open - information is gone).

it doesn't seem possible to add File > Info to a .png image in Photoshop itself. i've tried it a few different ways.
(shoot, actually i should try adding it again in Ps to a .png file and then see if Bridge can read it. hmmmm??)
in an other thread: [ http://forums.adobe.com/message/5642141#5642141 ] Gene told me that i could select Copyright and Contact Info from the Metadata drop down menu in the Save for Web panel to add the info to a .png image but this didn't work.
i don't know if Ps is having one of its "fits" or what but nothing seems to be working.
after a bit Gene was able to tell me that i can add File Info to .png files in the Bridge Cs6 or CC (no idea what the difference is between Ps Cs6 and Ps CC) and so i tried that and it worked.
however, it appears that Ps still cannot read the data/info when the .png image is opened in Ps itself. Only readable in Bridge.
which brings me to an other Q ... what's the point of Copyright info that can't be read? i am not being sarcastic i just really don't understand. granted, i need to read up on this topic but was hoping you could share your thoughts/knowledge w/me oh, and if you have any handy links i would also much appreciate it. thanx 4 ur help!!

Illustrator CS2 bridge will not open with Illustrator CS6 installed

I had CS6 loaded and working well but when I uninstalled a previously loaded copy of Illustrator CS2 my Bridge would not fire up. I tried reloading Illustrator from CS6 disc but it still would not work.What can I do?

Selection tools not working properly -- Illustrator CS6

The two selection tools in CS6 Illustrotor not working properly. They don't select the object when I click and drag a box around them and the handles on drawing path won't stay highlighted when I use the direct selection tool so I can adjust them -- Worked in Illustrator for about 12 years and never had this problem.

Pinch to zoom not working in Illustrator CS6

After replacing a lot of the hardware in my MacBook Pro and re-installing CS6, I've found that pinch-to-zoom no longer works in Illustrator.
It's functioning fine in InDesign and PhotoShop though.
Am I missing some preference option to enable multi-touch gestures?

yes, what in the world is going on with this latest OS, even claimed to be world's most advanced!?
I was shocked enough when I realized no 4finger swipe to switch apps, and 3finger swipe to go back and forth between pages not working when you have 3finger drag enabled
now what's utterly frustrating is NO MORE PINCH TO ZOOM IN FINDER
this is like one of the most important functions in the OS, and it's gone!?

Actions not working in Illustrator CS6

I created some actions that work on my PC. They area currently working in CS3, CS5 and CC. I had a friend test the actions on their MAC which is running CS6. The actions did not work. I am desperately trying to figure out why they work in previous builds with no problems but so far 2 people with macs running CS6 cannot run them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've recreated all my actions in AICC 2014, because the ones I created in
AICS weren't working.
When I test the AICC 2014 newly created actions in AICC 2014 they seem to
work fine.
When I restart my computer and open AICC 2014 again and use the actions
they don't work. Please find attached a screenshot.
They default AICC 2014 do seem to work, so I'm not sure what is the problem.
Any help is much appreciated as I rely on my actions

Metadata not saved in xmp, but in bridge cache

I have a script that sets the metadata for the following fields:
GPSLatitude
GPSLongitude
GPSAltitudeRef
GPSAltitude
and the data shows as having been applied in the Bridge Application, but the data is not in the sidecar XMP file, nor DNG files. If I move the file out of bridge the metadata goes away.
Is there something I'm doing wrong when setting these values?

I also was trying to insert GPS data in the XMP files, and came on to the same problem you encountered. I also don't understand why specific EXIF fields cannot be updated. I know they shouldn't be updated (in an user interface), but sometimes there are some exception, like we can find in this thread here.
However, I finally did find a solution, but it need some more testing to say it really works under all circumstances. Perhaps it can also be of any help on ohter EXIF fields.
Here is my solution:
1) Create a new XMPMeta object and fill in your GPS fields
2) Get the current XMP metadata from the selected thumbnail
3) Use XMPUtils.appendProperties to combine the two meta data objects
4) Write the appended metadata to the XMP file
5) Write the appended metadata back to the current thumbnail
I've used the following script snippit:

Fuzzy Logo/Artwork when saved in Illustrator CS6

Is anyone else experiencing an issue when saving artwork in Illustrator on newer Macs?
I have spent the past 3 hours trying to figure out the issue. I have Saved to Web, Exported. I have tried png and gif files. The original file is fine, but when I go to resize it to fit my web and blog formats, it pixelates it and it looks terrible.
Please help!

Always create the raster image at the exact size(s) in pixels by pixels that it is going to be used at.
You will always have fuzzy/jagged images when you resize (apart from halving the size and similar reductions).
The safest way is Save for Web where you can set the Image Size. That window is also where you tick Art/Type Optimzed.
You should find out the right size for each website.
It may be noted that some websites have some strange conversion/resizing which destroys any quality you have obtained, whatever you do. That also applies to the Profile Images here in these forums.

"Media kind" metadata not saved in file

This has been noted in other threads, but I am wondering whether it is simply an iTunes bug, or whether there really isn't an ID3 tag associated with Media Kind.
Are there any third-party tools that can modify this tag (and that iTunes will read on importing)?

Media Kind is an internal iTunes property and not part of the ID3 specification. Apple could have chosen to use a custom field, as they do with the non-standard Part of a compilation flag, but haven't. Mostly the correct value is inferred from file type or determined when content is added to the library. For example, Digital Booklets downloaded from the store are treated as Music, PDFs added by the user are treated as Books. You might be able to make smart playlists that catch any incorrect assignments so you can repair with a few bulk Get Infos. At present Media Kind isn't accessible to third party scripting, and may never be.

Activate Artboard using selection tool - Not Working in Illustrator CS6

When using Multiple artboards, typically you just need to click within an existing artboard to activate it as the selected artboard. For some reason this function is not working for me suddenly. I can still activate an existing arboard in the artboard panel, but I am working with 40 artboards, and it's much more efficient when it automatically selects the artboard you're working on as the active artboard (for aligning, pasting, etc...). Does anyone have any idea how to remedy this?
