Metadata on single image print - How To

How do you print a single image and have the file/version name appear on the print?
I have various clients bringing me unlabled photos from 3 months ago, asking for reprints.
Unfortunately there are no identifying marks on any of the prints whatsoever.
How can I figure out which ones they are without visually comparing them against my enitre Aperture library of 75,000 photos?
In my other Profesisonal photo applications I print the file names directly on single prints.
How does one print metadata on single prints in Aperture?

Can we join in as well, or are you happy talking to yourself?
It's a pain if you want to do it with a single image, as you have to drag it into an Album by itself. But you can have a single Album somewhere for that - no need to keep making new ones and deleting them again.
If you want to print more than one image then simply select the ones you want and only those will be passed through to the print dialog, so I'm not sure where this thing about pruning Album contents is coming from. Aperture's printing facilities aren't the best, but it sounds like you are trying to make life more difficult for yourself.

  • How can i centre a single image within a page in the print module?

I am using LR5 and am trying to print a single image using print package in the centre of the page, equal borders on all 4 sides. There has got to be an easy way of doing this?

Not too difficult, what I do is take one of the Lightroom templates, for example, single image on US letter size paper. Make sure you have your printer set for that paper size.
Then in the template drag the guidelines at the top/botton and left and right hand sides so you have an even border to the size you want. Then check Zoom to fill and grab the image and move up/down or side to side to get the best view of the image. This will probably be a cropped image as the image aspect ratio will not match your borders.
This is for LR4 waiting for the next point release of LR5
    Hope this helps

  • How to export a whole process for a single image.

    Good morning.
I would like to know how I can export a whole process for a single image. Is it possible? With that I can print of the way that goes better.
    Thanks.

    Hi Raghavendra,
Thanks for answering my query. I have created a transport request and exported the folder I need to take backup of. But when I tried testing import of the same request I am getting following error. Do you have any idea what is the cause of this error?
com.sap.security.core.server.destinations.itsam.DestinationRuntimeException: com.sap.security.core.server.destinations.api.DestinationException: [_DestinationServiceAuthorization1005] Code-based destination service access denied to component sap.com/cafeugpuiadmin. • How can I re-name a single image after importing it to Aperture?

I am having a problem renaming a single image after importing it - I would have thought it would be simple!  Does anyone know how this can be done?

    Hi RQ,
    Straight out of the manual
    To rename masters
In the Browser, select an image or group of images.
Choose Metadata > Batch Change (or press Command-Shift-B).
In the Batch Change dialog, choose a naming convention from the Version Name Format pop-up menu to specify how you want the masters named. For example, choose Version Name from the Version Name Format pop-up menu to have your master filenames changed to match the names of the corresponding versions in Aperture. If you choose a custom name format, enter the name you want in the Custom Name text field. For more information about naming files, see Automatically Naming Your Imported Images.
Select the Apply to Master File(s) checkbox, then click OK.
The master files corresponding to the selected images are renamed. For more information about working with the Batch Change dialog, see Batch Changing Metadata.
Hope that is what you are after.

  • How can I restore a single image from an aperture time machine backup, do I have to restore the entire library? that does not make sense

I hope there has been found a more efficiant solution for this,  how can I restore a single image from an aperture time machine backup, I really hope I don't have to restore the entire library? that does not make sense
    any suggestions?

Did you try browsing your backups in the Finder ?  That is, do not go and "Enter Time Machine".  Instead, navigate to your Time Machine backup via Finder and then manually go to the time period (by folder name) you are looking for ... when you find your Aperture library you can then "Show Package Contents" and find the Master you are looking for.

  • How can i NOT include top level keyword in the metadata of an image?

    Hello,
I want to know how can i NOT include top level keyword in the metadata of an image. I know there is an option for not applying a keyword to an exported image, but is there an option for not applying the top level keyword to the actual image?
I have organized my geographical (by location) keywords like this:
    Places
    USA
    New York
    Miami
    Spain.
If i add geographical keywords to all my images, all my images will have the keyword "Places", i dont think that it have any sence to have all your images with one keyword. How can i fix this? Any sugestion? i will appreciate it a lot any help or information that you could give me.
Excuse my english, i know it is not good. I hope that you could understand me.
    Thanks,
    Marcelo :)

Explicitly excluding a keyword only applies when "exporting". Unfortunately, there's currently no way to stop the keyword being written to the file when "Save Metadata to File" command is used. The natural reaction of users to this difference is to suggest that it is stupid. Nevertheless, there are good reasons why the difference exists:
    1. "Export" creates a new file whereas "Save Metadata to File" writes the metadata back into the existing file.
    2. There are very good reasons why certain keywords should not be written to file, and the example given in the OP is one. Saving metadata to file is more often used as means of backing up important image related metadata, independently of the catalog or allowing the metadata to be visible in other aplications. It would be rare that such a file would be shared with a third party, so the reason for not including certain keywords is less obvious. Actually, not including it can result in no end of confusion and grief. For example, if the top level (or any keyword) was excluded during the save metadata process then the other keywords would be orphaned when image is imported back into the catalog (e.g. buiding a new catalog).
The development team are aware of the need, in some circumstances, to exclude certain keywords when save metadata command is used. How and when the issue is resolved, without adding even more confusion/complexity, is some way off.

  • How can I keep the front and back of a photo together in a single image?

I'm running PSE 8 on XP with SP3.
I'm getting ready to upgrade to PSE 9.
My cousin just sent me 24 old family photos.
On the back of each photo is a lot of information.
Who is in the picture, where it was taken, what the event was, etc.
What I'd like to be able to do is to scan these images in and somehow keep the front and the back of
each photo together in a single image. That way I can post them to a photo web site and people
can look at the image and read what it is.
    I have a Lexmark Pro 205 printer/scanner.
Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions!

I worked on one of the pictures with your Mom and Dad. These scans are quite good and there is a lot of information in them. One can spend a lot of time fixing them up - good project!
    Here is what I did:
    Duplicated background layer
Applied Brightness/contrast adjustment layer, worked the sliders
    Merged down
Sampled sky with eye dropper tool, opened blank layer at top of stack, used brush tool to cover a few of the spots in the sky (?dust)
    Merged down
Accessed Smart brush tool, selected black & white in drop down, selected high contrast b&w, covered the sky with that
Selected Yellow filter, and covered the ground
    Merged down
Opened a blank layer at top of stack and added a couple of clouds
Applied Photofilter adjustment layer, warming filter LBA, adjusted density
    Sharpened slightly with unsharp  mask
    Merged visible
    Applied stroke
On review, the spots in the sky need additional work - they show up more on-line than in PSE.  Can be fixed in step #4.

Unfortunately changing the epub text size does not change the view at all. The images do not seem to change when the text size setting is changed.
The resolution of my machine is already at the max setting, so increasing the resolution is kind of impossible.
Any other suggestions I could try?  Thank you for your suggestions!

  • How do you set up and work single image variations?

    Howdy Forum,
My question is L4 workflow related.
As everyone else, I select an image file and fiddled about in the `Develop` mode until I am happy with the result which is great.
The modified image is in the catalog which is also great.
On other occasions I may wish to revisit the `original`image file and perhaps fiddle about for a different result to that above.
What or how is the best way set up a process for single image variations?
Should I simply be creating a few `copies` in advance on my hard drive, then import them in the usual way?
    Cheers

  • How can one place a single image on a spread? CS3-MAC

    Hi all,
i How can one place a single image on a spread? CS3-MAC
A very straight forward question I think. I just never did it before. Anyone knows of a fast technique of doing this? I have to make 70+ images this way. Could it be scripted?
    thanx in advance
    Michael

You'll need to be more specific. Placing a single image on one spread is drop-dead simple. File > Place, choose file, click (or click-and-drag) to place, scale and position as desired. You can ask about scripting in the
    scripting forum.
You might not need to script this to get efficient use of time. Make a picture frame on the master spread and then insert 140 pages (70 2-page spreads) based on that master. File > Place, and select all 70 files. (They need to be in one folder. Click on the top file, scroll down, lick on the bottom file.) Zoom out and click once on each spread to place each image. Should work faster that writing, testing, debugging, and running a script.

  • How do I create a single image using PSE12 from multiple originals where each original is still separate?

How do I create a single image using PSE12 from multiple originals in which the originals are still separate (i.e. side by side or arranged in a square)? I could do this in PSE2, but can't find how to get PSE12 to do it.
    Grecophile55

In PSE2 there was a single photo-merge. I browsed all my images and I could then click and drag each to its new position before saving. There doesn’t seem to be a similar facility in PSE12.

  • How to make a single image with multiple clickable points?

    Hi,
I just started using CS4 yesterday, but am pretty confused. I managed my first little achievement with it, but am havign troubles. I'm not even sure of the capabilities of the software to be honest, but I would like to know if I can have a single image, then have sections of it which can be hovered over with a tag and a link to another part of my site. Is this something that can be done?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
to reach several different links on the image you need to create so-called hotspot (I had to translate the following terms from my German Dreamweaver). How to do?
    Click into the image
    Open properties window
    Open list box orientation.
Surround the image parts in question (look at the green arrow). Feel free/play with chosen forms.
    Hans-G.
    P.S.
You shouldn't use only images on your site.

I want to share a folder of images with a client who is also using bridge. I want the client to be able to edit metadata and rate the image. How can I do this?

Metadata won't be a problem as long as you use Bridge to copy the file from within Bridge to whatever media (flash drive, CD/DVD. email, etc) you plan to use for the sharing.
I'm not sure about the Label part.  Maybe it will travel along too.

The main point is that Aperture is used to make digital negatives as good as they can be (for the uses you define), but it does not ADD date to your digital negatives, nor does it produce NEW combination files.  For those tasks you need a Graphics program.

  • Why does the Date Created metadata change when images are exported? How do I stop it from changing?

why does the Date Created metadata change when images are exported?  How do I stop it from changing? I must have a prefernce set up wrong.

I don't know what OS you are using, or what application you are using to view the data about your exported files, but on Windows and using Windows Explorer the "Date Created" field relates only to the date that the exported file was created, i.e. if viewed immediately after export it will show the date created as being the same date. In order to view "Capture Date" in something like Explorer, you first have to ensure you have included the Metadata as Conrad outlined above, then you have to adjust the display properties of Explorer to show the "Date Taken" field. Here is an example, part of a folder I exported back on March 3rd, note the difference between that last two dates:
