Metadata Options

I recently had problems with my computer and had to reinstall Photoshop Elements 9. I noticed that I no longer have the ADVANCED OPTIONS in the Photo Downloader in order to Aplly Metadata, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again but with no luck.
Any suggestions?
Danielle

It's probably time I did -- but I still find it ironic that here's a case in which iPhoto actually handles "metadata" (or at least the iPhoto equivalent thereof) in a much better way -- offering the user more flexibility and functionality -- than the self-proclaimed King-of-all-Metadata Aperture.
I do hope Apple is listening to those Feature Requests (and scanning these forums too, for good measure).

  • Which Metadata option when exporting from Aperture?....

When Exporting a single Original (never edited) CR2 file from Aperture 3.6 to my Desktop there are 3 Metadata options :
    1) - Don't include IPTC
    2) - Include IPTC
    3) - Create IPTC4XMP Sidecar File
As I have no idea what 'IPTC' etc is, which option is best to later Import into Capture One, please?

IPTC are all Metadata you assigned in Aperture or in other applications, as opposed to the EXIF metadata embedded in the photos by the camera. The camera tags would be in the EXIF.
The get an idea, what is in clouded in EXIF and IPTC, open the Inspector in Aperture in the sidebar and switch the view to "IPTC info". That will show you a list of all tags, that will be included, when you export from Aperture with IPTC included.
You can only export modified versions with IPTC, since Aperture will not modify the original file on export. That is why you can add a sidecar files, that lists all tags, and many applications are able to read this sidecar file, when you import photos.
I want the camera EXIF data to be exported with the image file.
The camera EXIF are already embedded in the original image files. When you export the originals, the EXIF will be included, independent of your setting for IPTC.
You can test, what will be exported, by opening exported files in Preview and opening the Inspector (Tools menu > Show Inspector)
You can see all EXIF and IPTC tags that have been exported with the photo.

    Hi there,
Not much information or detail there.
If the New meta option on pages is what you are refering to then the site in question is likely not been upgraded to that beta feature. Only partners who have access to beta options under settings can access that to upgrade.

  • Size & Metadata options for e-mail?

In iPhoto, when I select some images and click the E-Mail icon, I get to pick from Small / Medium / Large / and Actual Size, and I also get to choose whether to include any combination of the image's Name, Date, and/or Caption as text which appears in the e-mail below each attached picture.
In Aperture, it appears I have to pre-select a default Size option (under Prefs -> Export -> Email Export Preset -Edit-); but other than an "Include Metadata" checkbox, I can't seem to find any option or preference equivalent to iPhoto's "Name / Date / Caption" e-mail choices.
So -- In Aperture, how does one:
    a) Quickly override the Size preset for a single e-mail (say you want to send an Original Size JPEG for one particular e-mail, but leave your general default setting for e-attachments at "Email Medium - JPEG")?
    and
    b) Have the Name / Date / Caption info (or any combination thereof) actually be displayed in a newly-created e-mail for a given set of images?
This is easy in iPhoto -- is it even possible in Aperture?
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Can I add filters (SelectOneChoice af tag) in MPCUI metadata option

    Hi All,
I have created my own custom target home page using MPCUI metadata driven option.
I have defined a new page with a table which take the data from OMS repository using SQLDataService.
Now I want have a filter on top of my table to limit the number of rows from the repository depending on the selection.
Basically I want to have a SelectOneChoice af tag option in MPCUI. I dont find any such option in Programmers guide.
Is it possible to have filter for my custom table?
    Thanks
    Ravi

To anyone else who may encounter this issue in the future, here is a work around:
    File > File Info:
Sacrifice a metadata field in the description tab.  I chose document title and description. Click OK.
File > Save for Web and Devices:
    Choose to save All Metadata.
Leave things here on your end, and have the web-developer map the code to display only the appropriate metadata field.

  • Outgrowing iPhoto? I want more metadata options

I use PSE 8 for my external editing program and iPhoto '09. This setup is great for what I do. At least until now, as I feel I may be outgrowing iPhoto. I'm wanting to add more information to metadata file info. I have keywords, but I would like to input additional info such as copyright, author, email, etc information. When I choose "view extended file info" in iPhoto, it is still limited in what it shows you and what you can input.
I have used demo's of LR3 and Aperture and am comfortable with both in regards to their organization and metadata info. I have just started experimenting in RAW, so this is another reason I feel LR or AP might be what I need. If I had to choose, I think I prefer the setup and ease of use of LR3 vs. AP.
I guess my main question is: am I simply missing something in iPhoto that allows the additional metadata information that I'm looking for?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Take a look atMedia Expression. It's a DAM (digital asset management) application that lets the user write keywords, titles, categories, and the other annotations fields shown in this screenshot to the files.
Other DAM applications with similar extensive metadata control can be read about at The DAM Forum.

  • How to get metadata option list values derived from a table/view using SOAP

I am writing an ASP.NET application that replicates some of the features of the SCS search interface. I have looked at the GET_DOC_METADATA_INFO service and its SOAP output. It has a few missing pieces of information, like the option list values for a field if that fields values are derived from a separate table/view. Some of the fields I am dealing with also make use of Dynamic Control Lists (DCL). Is there a way to get the DCL info using SOAP? I did notice that the dOptionListKey element contains the name of the view from which the option list values will be derived. However, I cannot find a service that takes the view name as a parameter to return the option list values. I have looked in the services reference manual, but I have not had any luck finding what I am looking for.
    TIA

    Hello,
What error you are getting? You code seems to be ok. I have tested below code and working fine
    XPathNavigator rTable = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator();
    String ddlSectionSelectedValue = Convert.ToString(rTable.SelectSingleNode("/my:myFields/my:ddlSection", NamespaceManager).Value);
One think you can check that keep dropdown value display name and id same.

  • Add Metadata, Options to Open in Adobe Media Encoder for Video Files

I was surprised to discover that some basic information about video files is not shown. For example, the duration of a QuickTime video is not shown.
Also, there is no option to open an MOV file in Adobe Media Encoder.
It would be nice to have this basic support for video.

Please help me about this question

You are just loading Metadata file ,so it wont touch the rule file. But please check the changed metadata file and rule conditions are matching.
    RULE WONT BE IMPACTED.

  • Importing Metadata Options?

I've got several thousand images in various folders by event, and each has an Excel file that has what will be the caption, title, keywords and image filename.
...and I'd like to merge these either with the importing to Aperture, or afterwards. Any tips on tools/plugins? I've not found much myself.

If you are comfortable with scripting you can do this with the commandline tool exiftool.
Your workflow would be something like this:
    For each folder of pictures:
Save the excel spreadsheet as a delimited field.  You probably don't want to use commas, since they separate keywords.  I often separate with semicolon or pipe(|) or at (@).  Be sure you have tags as the first row.
Now in each folder: run the script -- call it TagMyImages
Suppose that the excel spread sheet has
    Filename | Title | Caption | Keywords
Tagmy images -- top level description.
Foreach line in the rest of the file
       ($filename, $title, $caption, $keywords) = split('@',4);
       $message = `exiftool -IPTC:Title=$title -IPTC:Caption=$caption -ITPC:Keywords=$keywords $filename`;
       print $message;
    End
Now the details will vary depending on what scripting language you use.  Doing it in perl would be my stick.
You will need to read the manpage for exiftool carefully.

  • Can't find IPTC metadata after Aperture export into Lightroom

    Hi all,
I'm sure you've already worked through this pain, so maybe you'll have some insight for me:
I am exporting approximately 25,000 images from Aperture 2.1.4 and importing them into Lightroom 4.  I started working with my small projects of about 300 images to test.  From Aperture, I exported the Master files with the Sidecar (IPTC4.XMP) files.  [My masters are a mix of .jpgs and .NEF, and I read that the jpgs don't always carry the meta data through].  I successfully imported the master files into Lightroom and ran the "Read Metadata from File" command.  I also exported the keywords file from Aperture and imported those into Lightroom as well.
Prior to exporting, I edited one file in Aperture by entering "test caption", "test location", "test keyword", "test copyright" etc. into several of the IPTC fields.  These fields are NOT appearing in the equivalent Lightroom fields.  I checked the .XMP file (using text edit) and it does contain the correct "test values".  I am getting all of the EXIF metadata, but none of my custom values.
Is it as simple as not looking in the right place in Lightroom for my values?

    John, and Brent -
Yes, thank you, you were both right.  Here is an updated screenshot showing the image in both applications, with the metadata where I expected it.  The trick, in my case, was to follow "Method 1" in the link above, to write the IPTC data into the .jpgs.  I'll use the sidecar method for the .NEFs, probably.  Also, expanding the fields proved that the keyword was present.  I'm sure I can mess around with the Display Metadata options from Default to other things.  All well; heroes to the rescue!

    Grace

  • Is the PNG generated by the "Save As" option the same as the png-24 from the "Save for Web" option?

It would speed up my workflow if I could go through the save for web option rather than the save as. Are these files the same?

No, SaveAs includes more metadata, while SaveForWeb makes the metadata optional.

  • Missing Selection in Lightroom 3.2, Metadata

In the local Lightroom 3.2 Documentation it indicates that the options for the Library, Metadata, Options include …
Home / Using Photoshop Lightroom 3 / Organizing photos in the catalog / Viewing and editing metadata
    View photo metadata
In the Library module, the Metadata panel displays the filename, file path, rating, text label, and EXIF and IPTC metadata of selected photos. Use the pop-up menu to choose a set of metadata fields. Lightroom has premade sets that display different combinations of metadata.
With one or more photos selected in the Grid view, or with a single photo selected in the Filmstrip in Loupe, Compare, or Survey view, choose any of the following from the pop-up menu at the top of the Metadata panel:
    Default
Shows the filename, copy name, folder, rating, text label, and a subset of IPTC and EXIF metadata.
    All
Shows the filename, copy name, file path, rating, text label, and all EXIF and IPTC metadata.
    All Plug-In Metadata
Displays custom metadata created by third-party plug-ins. If you don’t have any plug-ins installed, filename, copy name, and folder are displayed.
    EXIF
Shows the filename, file path, dimensions, and EXIF camera metadata such as Exposure, Focal Length, ISO Speed Rating, and Flash. If your camera records GPS metadata, the information appears as EXIF metadata.
    EXIF and IPTC
Shows the filename, size, type, location, metadata status, as well as all EXIF and basic IPTC metadata.
    IPTC
Shows the filename and basic IPTC metadata: Contact, Content, Image, Status, and Copyright metadata.
    IPTC Extension
Shows the filename and IPTC metadata for model and artwork releases and other types of licensing rights.
    Large Caption
Shows a large caption edit box and the copyright box.
    Location
Shows the filename, copy name, folder, title, caption, and location fields.
    Minimal
Shows the filename, rating, plus Caption and Copyright metadata.
    Quick Describe
Shows the filename, copy name, file path, rating, and the following EXIF and IPTC metadata: Dimensions, Date Time, Camera, Title, Caption, Copyright, Creator, and Location.
In the Metadata panel, if an IPTC metadata field displays an arrow, clicking the arrow is a quick way to find and view all photos containing the specific metadata.
If multiple photos with different metadata settings are selected, the metadata fields display <mixed>. To show the metadata for the photo that’s targeted (active) within the selection, choose Metadata > Show Metadata For Target Photo Only. If more than one photo is selected in the Filmstrip in Loupe, Compare, or Survey view, the Metadata panel displays metadata only for the active photo.
The 3.2 version of lightroom does not include the ALL choice. Is this correct?
    Thanks

The All option does appear to be missing in 3.2 (not sure if it was in 3.0 or not).  In any case, I usually develop my own templates manually.  You can also try out the plug-in at: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/metadata-presets which should generate the desired template (including an "all" template) if you so desire.  I am not related to this developer but you might take a look at his site for other plug-ins that might benefit your workflow.

  • Error while updating Advanced metadata

I 'm getting an issue while updating the advanced metadata option in the document manager task flow.
The i-frame that is there in the error.png has the backend url as :localhost:8888/cs/idcplg/_p/min/skin-portal/lang-en/tz-UTC+0530?IdcService=GET_UPDATE_FORM&dID=1034&CoreContent=1&forceLogin=1.
I guess the port number is the culprit.
Is there any way by which we can redirect the request to port 16200 and enforce login for the user .The application is deployed on the spaces server.

    Hi,
In Webcenter Content connection, if you fill 'Web Server Context Root" field, webcenter thinks that Content and Portal (or Spaces) are in the exaclty the same adress, host and port.
So you can add a apache that proxy portal and content in port 80 or you can just leave this field "Web Server Context Root" blank.
This is are a production enviroment?
You can take a look this post blog: http://yonaweb.be/enable_ucm_check_in_profiles_webcenter_ps3_0

  • Exporting from Lightroom w/metadata

I want to export about 35 images to my desktop.  One of the Metadata options is "minimize metadata". Does this mean that every keyword that I input will be stripped from the imag?.  Since these were scans, I did put in as much IPTC info into each image, such as the Creator, copyrightnotice, my contact info, etc.  But I also input a bunch of keywords.  I also noticed that these keywords did increase the file size considerably. So, if I "minimize metadata" what exactly am I left with? just IPTC?
