Metadata Panel has disappeared

I was adding a Camera Model to the Metadata and did remove the check next to "Show Metadata Placard", and almost immediately returned and rechecked the "Show Metadata Placard".  I've queried the Help files and cannot find any definition of Metadata Placard so I don't know whether this created my problem or not.  The bottom line is that I can no longer see the Metadata Panel in any view!  Please ... how do I get it back?  I even turned off the computer and re-started thinking that might help and nothing!  We need the Metadata, please help!

I was adding a Camera Model to the Metadata
Not sure what you mean by that, you can put checkmarks in front of the
metadata fields in Bridge prefs where you can select or deselect the placard
so that they show themselves in the metadata panel but to my knowledge not
adding a camera model to it?
The bottom line is that I can no longer see the Metadata Panel in any
view!
Whenever Bridge start behaving other than before first try to reset the
preferences by holding down option key while restarting Bridge.

  • Pattern preset panel has disappeared?

Hi, I use photoshop cc 2014 and sometime in the last few weeks the pattern preset panel drop down box has disappeared and I can't figure out how to get it back .    These are screen shots of what I
get now if that helps.   I also get the same when I got through Edit/Fill   ,    Screen shot of that as well.   Thank you in advance for any help.

There are two things I can suggest:
Reset the Paint Bucket tool by right-clicking on its' icon in the Option bar.
Second idea if this does not work is a keyboard reset of your Preferences.
    Exit Photoshop
Double-click on your Photoshop icon to start Photoshop.
Now very quickly hold down Ctrl-Alt-Shift and you should see the "Delete settings" dialog. Click "yes" and Photoshop should continue to load. This may take a few tries to get the reset box.
Then see if that fixes the problem.

  • Crop tool now displays a Diagonal.  The "apply during import" panel has gone away!!  Any help appreciated!!

My Crop Tool now displays a Diagonal instead of a "Rule of Thirds".  I do not know why or how to correct.
Secondly, the "Apply During Import" portion of the right hand panel has disappeared.   Thus I am unable to use custom setting while importing.  I don't really know if this happened during upgrade to LR5.4 or not.
    Any help greatly appreciated!!!

You probably pressed the O key which cycles through the crop overlays when the crop tool is enabled.
Click Tools / Crop Guide Overlay in Develop to see the various choices.

The panel with White Balance, Exposure, Contrast, Tone, Whites, Blacks, etc has disappeared from my Develop screen.  The control panel on the right side now starts with Tone Curve and I can't find a way to revert back to the screen with the other adjustments. I need to know how to correct this problem.
This is what I'm working with now:

Right click 'Tone Curve' (the title/words) and enable 'Basic'.
    Do you see it?

Right-click in the Tone Curve header (even clicking on the words themselves works). You will get a context menu of all of the Develop module roll-outs. Simply re-check Basic.

  • What happened to exposure-related EXIF values in the Metadata panel?

In Bridge CS5, the EXIF section of the Metadata panel would have an "Exposure" entry with info like "1/50 s at f/2.8".  This appears to be missing in Bridge CS6.  The option is there and checked in Preferences, but it never shows up in the panel itself.  I've looked at raw files from the Nikon D700, Nikon D800, Canon 5D and Canon 7D... no exposure information shows up.
I know Bridge/ACR can read the info because it appears in the Metadata Placard, but that is not useful to me.  I often need to select a range of images and quickly see if they all have the same exposure.  In Bridge CS5, the exposure settings are displayed if they are all the same, otherwise "(multiple values)" is shown.   The placard, on the other hand, simply goes blank once multiple images are selected, even though they all share identical exposure settings.
    Bug, or "feature"?  Bridge CS6 5.0.0.399 64-bit, ACR 7.1.

Anyhow, I was just trying to explain why I use the Exposure entry in the EXIF panel.  Regardless of why I need it, it still appears to be a bug, since I can enable/disable it in Bridge preferences, yet it appears to have no effect in the panel itself.
    Brian,
Sorry, I did get a little carried away and sometimes tend to forget that everyone has it own needs and workflow
Regarding the other posts I can only confirm that as soon as I alter my DNG files the exposure line (that in default settings is not selected in Bridge Preferences BTW) disappears (I have set to not show empty fields) and after clearing settings the line fills back again with the info for exposure.
Did not check other lines but maybe there are even more.
This one seems to have slipped through during the 64 bit transition and you should file it as a bug indeed because CS5 has correct behavior for this.
You might best do so your self (your discovery) on the Photoshop.com page
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/
and inhere select 'a problem' and describe this behavior.
About your workflow, I tried Peters script several years ago but could not get it to work to suit my workflow. I also have no need (nor wish) for such a large production number but having get used to a workflow and not being able to is quite frustrating.
However I have changed my workflow multiple times due to changed options and often it appeared for the better
I only use ACR mainly for color temperature and exposure to bring back highlights. Often with selecting multiple files  in Bridge and with right mouse click copy paste ACR data to have a good start but I do need to fine tune a bit afterwards in ACR. Maybe I give the script another go.
My process is based on the excellent ideas from Guy Gowan, who has a remarkable fast and amazing workflow in PS itself using adjustment layers based on channel masks. And after running the process also easy to fine tune with percentages using button mode in action panel.
As said, everyone has his own workflow

  • Where do I find the original filename in metadata panels?

I posted this question about retaining the filename but got no answers, so I'm trying again. It used to be in LR prior to Version 2 that you could select "Location" in the Metadata panel and you would see the original camera-generated filename. All my pictures in my LR database have this up until I upgraded to Version 2. Now, it's not there anymore. I want to be able to trace back to the original RAW file if the LR database copy goes corrupt (which has happened three times in 2 years). Any help would be appreciated - I can't locate any forum question/answer that addresses this.

    Method ..
Now type in the Facebook mobile address http://m.facebook.com. Press Go To.
You are now asked to select an access point. Select the internet access point you intend to use - if it's your mobile connection, highlight the appropriate network connection, or if you are using Wi-Fi, select the WLAN you wish to access or search for a new access point. Press Select.
You should now be taken to the Facebook mobile log in page .
Scroll down to highlight the Email or Phone panel. Type in your email details.
Scroll down to highlight the Password panel. Type in your Facebook password.
Scroll down to highlight the Log In button. Press the central navigation button to select
You will now get the message: 'You are being redirected to another site. Continue?'. Press Yes.
You will now be taken into your Facebook account home page, with Status updates News feed and other options to keep you busy wherever you are, whenever you want it

  • After importing images from my card using LR 5.4, the GPS data does not show in the metadata panel. However, when I look at the imported images using Bridge, the GPS data is visible. Anybody know why LR is not seeing the GPS data? Camera is Canon 6D.

After importing images from my card using LR 5.4, the GPS data does not show in the metadata panel. However, when I look at the imported images using Bridge, the GPS data is visible. Anybody know why LR is not seeing the GPS data? Camera is Canon 6D.

Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
    So this is solved.

  • Headphones stop working after a certain time and the notification for sound change has disappeared

    HP Pavilion dv6-6176sa
    Win7 64bit.
I have a Pavilion dv6, and occasionally no sound will go through headphones when the jack is plugged in. The headphones themselves are not at fault, they are brand new and work fine.
When the headphones are plugged in, the sound will only go through the laptop speakers. I've tried updating the drivers, fiddling with the jack and socket (as I read on google), the only resolution I have found is to restart the comp, which is a bit of a pisstake in all fairness and I'd rather not do that every time it happens.
5 minutes ago I was watching a TV show, listening through the headphones, when I pulled out my USB mouse (and accidentally the charger with it). The sound then switched from the headphones to the speaker.
If I open the sound settings, it will display the headphones as being plugged in, but the sound indicator bar (thingy) will only rise and fall on the speaker icon bar.
Currently I have the audio jack pulled out about a centimetre, this allows sound through the headphones, but the sound is noticeably different to what it should be.
I had rolled it back to "High Definition Audio Device", then reinstalled it to the most current driver. This hasn't fixed it.
Also, this may be a related issue: (I guess) around the same time, the beats audio notification that pops up on screen when the volume is changed  has disappeared and doesn't display when the volume has changed.
In microsoft sound control panel, it has the default speakers and the headphone logo, when i plug in the jack, a green phone circle thing appears by the headphone option, meaning it works i guess. However, the description changes from "ready" to "default communications device" and nothing changes for the regular speaker device.
When I go to >configure, and test each (L/R) speaker, if the headphones are plugged in, the noise is louder then when they're not plugged it
But yeah, brand new headphones, brand new laptop, it's mad. What's madder is that the headphones will work for x amount of time, then stop working when I next try to use them...

    bump...

  • Importing Images--Metadata Panel

An early tutorial in the Long, Harrington, and Luna book in the Apple Training Series for Aperture 2 walks one through the steps to setup the metadata panel that will stamp each imported image with a common copyright, photographer name, etc. This panel opens when the Import function is active. It appears at the right of the screen. In the illustration in the book, and in the instance of Aperture 2 installed on my iMac, no problem--the long list has a scroll bar to reveal all of it for data entry. However, on my MacBook, there is no scroll bar present, and there is no evidence of any data entry opportunity. This is a serious problem since the aspect ratio on the MacBook screen is so wide compared to the much "taller" iMac screen. I've checked everything I can think of and am at a loss. Any ideas?
I'm running Aperture 2.1.2 on both machines and the specs for both appear in my "signature" below.
    Terry

In case you are still having problem. I had similar problem as per my previous post. After some thought I determined that it was a plist file problem. Here is what I did to fix the problem:
I was able to solve the problem by deleting the com.apple.aperture.plist file
First I made note of all my preferences, then I deleted the file. Closed Aperture and then re-booted the MacBookPro.
Once I rebooted and relaunched Aperture, reset preferences and closed Aperture and then restarted Aperture and now the Import panel is back to normal with the appropriate lists showing for the "add metadata from" presets.
    Hopefully this will help others.

  • Stack with original has disappeared

I go to "edit in> photoshop elements 10> I get the pop up for "edit a copy with LR adjustment" or "Edit a copy" or "Edit original"
Also an arrow for file options "file format" ,"color space", "bit depth" and "resolution"  there is not a box anywhere for "stack with
original" there was one at one time, but it has disappeared.
Can anyone tell me how to get it back.
    thanks

Your pics ARE in a folder, the folder is the physical location where your pics are stored. A collection is a way of organizing your photos into different sets, while leaving them at their original folder location. A collection is just a different view onto your images (similar to Libraries in Win7).
If you want/need to stack the derivate files created for edit in PSE with their originals (which IMHO makes sense), I would do the following:
Select all the images in your collection (Ctrl-A while in the collection)
Assign some unique metadata field (starts, color label, keyword "proofs" ...) to all of them
    Switch to All Photographs
Use the metadata filter to filter on the metadata field assigned in step 2

  • CS4 Custom Metadata Panels : "Generic" : Ability to display block of predefined text in panels ?

I am in the process of converting a number of CS3 custom metadata panels to the Adobe CS4 Suite using the "Generic" panel included with the current SDK. After reading though the documentation on the "Generic" panel, it seems that there is no easy way to define a block of predefined, non-editable text (a legal disclaimer for example) within a CS4 "Generic" panel.
Note that this is text that is not actually embedded into an image or editable, but rather a block of predefined text that simply displays within the panel itself.
When creating CS3 custom panels, a predefined text block was easily displayed using a combination of the "width:", "height:" and "static_text:" parameters.
Has anyone been able to replicate this using the CS4 "Generic" panel?
Thanks in advance for your time and effort...

    James,
Alternative: XMP FileInfo SDK page 40, the attribute description= displays static text as a mouse-over tooltip operation on a single field.
This applies to custom XMP properties in a custom namespace. The standard in-the-box XMP properties description= cannot be modified via a custom .xml schema definition as far as I can determine. (I tried, and mine were ignored.)

  • Custom Metadata Panels from CS3 to CS4.

I have install CS4 on my Vista Ultimate PC. It runs like a dream. However there is now a new format for the custom metadata panels. I have two panels that I created in CS3 that I need to convert to the new format. Is there an easy way to do this?
The CS3 files are txt files that all I had to do was copy to the proper directory and they appeared. Thanks.
    Fred

    Thanks Gunar,
I already had my custom XMP panel for my server product for InDesign. I tried to create a CS4 compatible panel on MacPro (Mac OS X 10.5.5 3GB RAM) using every possible method from the XMP FileInfo SDK pdf - it didn't work. The panel did show up in the dialog, but not the fields. Not only this, all fields also disappeared from some other panels. After I removed my custom panel, everything went back to normal.
    I tried:
-Generic panel method - the fields didn't show up
-The Flex SDK method: when I run
    ant built.xml
I got the "Target "build.xml" does not exist in the project "TestPanel"." error (I checked many times - all the files were where they're supposed to be, and I run it from the correct directory).
-I downloaded Flex Builder, followed all the steps - the fields didn't show up, and fields in other panels disappeared.
The idea of building the panel interface interactively is great - I hope it will ever work.
Any ideas of why it didn't work for me?
While we're on this, I think that the new tabbed interface for the File Info dialog is a huge step back. You already had a great interface, with the list of panel names on the left side - which is easy to use and is standard through many Adobe dialogs.
The multi-tab approach for many items proved to be inefficient long time ago. Right now you created a dialog that works like a dilaog in QuarkXPress 4 - what's the point?
To support the new tabbed interface, you had to introduce TWO new "arrow" controls, none of which is user-friendly, and which make a simple task of choosing a panel extremely confusing.
The new feature of changing panel position by dragging is great, but it could be also achieved through the side list approach.
Bottom line: could you please restore the side list approach. I think it will help advance the XMP technology further and encourage people to actually use it , instead of doing exactly the opposite.
