MetaData Reporting

I am trying to run the metadata reports from Design Browser of the Client. I enable the Design Browser Client as per the instruction of the Configuration and install manual. But I get the following error:
Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.
I have permission to get to the server.
What am I missing?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes, I do have the DAD created. As per the installation guide.
Used the WareHouse Builder Repository Name as the DAD name.
Have http server running on the server where the Desgin Repository resides.
The Oracle OC4J is running on the client.
The only I am not sure I did right is
"Adding "LOCALHOST" to your webBrowser Proxy Server ByPass list"
Under the internet option/Connections/LAN Settings:
I have the "Use proxy server for your LAN" checked as weel as "bypass proxy server for local addresses".
It gives me the following error when trying to log in:
Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

  • Custom metadata reports in ODI

    Hi,
does ODI provide any means to create (and access) custom metadata reports on the metadata that resides the ODI repository?
    Cheers,
    Simon

Thanks! I know about the ODI Console.
But what I'm looking for is custom reports which I can create to query the metadata and have the results presented in a way I can choose. Ideally the results can be exported as a PDF file.
For example: I want a list of all fields in my data sources that have not been used in any way yet and have them printed in a table alongside with other contextual information (e.g. FlexField values).

  • Metadata Reporting in Warehouse Builder 10.2

    Hi,
I am new to Warehouse Builder.
I am looking for "How to" kind of documentation regarding Metadata Reporting in Warehouse builder version 10.2.
I need to document the metadata.
In Warehouse Builder version 9 I found this link:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A97306_01/12metarp.htm#1077203
but I can not find the same information for WB 10.2.
Any suggestions will be very much appreciated.

    Hi Peter,
After starting the installer it fails on the operating system version, apparently no support voor 2008R2.Maybe try to installation with option "-ignoreSysPrereqs"...
I tested OWB 10.2 on Windows7 64bit but cannot confirm that it also will work on 2008R2.
And if not, how tricky is it to upgrade to OWB 11.2, supposing that is certified.Steps to migrate from OWB 10.2 to 11.2 described in OWB installation guide:

  • Portal Metadata Reporting

Are there any utilities available for reporting information about a Portal instance? To clarify, we want to be able to do the following:
    1. Provide a site map/page hierarchy report
    2. List the pages have not been updated (or items on the page) during the last 12 months.
    3. List pages have Approvals turned on and drill down to the Approval settings.
    4. List documents stored in the repository, but are not on a page.
    5. List the pages under a page group or under a sub-page and drill down to list the contents including when it was last updated.
    6. List of Groups within the Portal and the members of the Group.
    7. List of pages that a specific Group has access to.
    8. List of users and the Groups they belong to.
I know that a lot of this information is available through the User Interface, but we are looking to be able to generate reports and provide summary type data that would have to be manually calculated or compiled. I am somewhat familiar with the Portal schema and could probably develop queries to provide this kind of reporting, but if it has already been accomplished and is publicly available, that would be great.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

I believe the common answer to all your questions is SQL combined with PLSQL...

  • Metadata Management Custom Reports

Does anyone know where there is documentation on configuration or usage of the Metadata reports available in Information Steward?
I am prompted for login credentials to the repository but nothing that I try works.  To make things worse, it seems to cause Tomcat to shut down.
In the versions of Metadata Management used with Business Objects XI3.1, you had to go to the reports to configure the JDBC connections for the reports.  I can't find any documentation on where the reports are stored much less on how to configure the connection to the Metadata Management repository database.
I am running Information Steward 4.2sp2 hosted on Information Platform Services 4.1sp3.

  • How to change the timezone in photo metadata?

After returning from a recent trip out west, I forgot to change my camera's timezone to the local time.  As a result, hundreds of photos from a long weekend trip were recorded with the wrong timezone.  I imported them to Lightroom 5 and discovered the problem.  Of course, I used the Edit Capture Time feature as described in the online help: https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/metadata-basics-actions.html#change_the_photo_captu re_time
But that changes the time of each photo's metadata, rather than the timezone.  There's a subtle difference; the better solution would be to change the timezone so that all future interpretations and exported times would be correct.  For example, here's the original metadata from a RAW image:
    DateTimeOriginal                : 2014:08:23 09:13:45
    Timezone                        : -07:00
and here's what appears on an exported JPG file, after the capture time was edited:
    DateTimeOriginal                : 2014:08:23 11:13:45
    TimeCreated                     : 11:13:45
    DigitalCreationTime             : 09:13:45
    DateTimeCreated                 : 2014:08:23 11:13:45
    DigitalCreationDateTime         : 2014:08:23 09:13:45
[These metadata reports were produced by exiftool.]  Notice how the RAW image includes Timezone (though sadly the JPG export does not).  More to the point, look at the variety of timestamps produced for the JPG file, none of which mention the timezone and two of which have the wrong time (9:13am instead of 11:13am).  Without the timezone information the latter is hard to interpret and looks inconsistent.  Is this a bug in LR5?  or is it a missing feature (to not record the timezone on export)?

There's not a simple explanation of the behavior you're observing.  It's not a bug -- LR is doing a reasonable job of following imperfect industry standards.
The photo/camera industry in general does not make it easy to deal with time zones. LR's general approach is to preserve whatever time zones are present in the metadata but otherwise ignore them -- it doesn't change them, and it doesn't display them. As you discovered, the Edit Capture Time command does not let you change time zone, but it does preserve whatever time zones are present in the metadata  (but see below for one exception).   LR's handling of time zones conforms with Metadata Working Group's Guidelines For Handling Image Metadata 2.0, an industry standard supported by Adobe, Apple, Canon, Microsoft, Nokia, and Sony.
The EXIF metadata inserted by cameras does not provide an official field to record time zone (folklore among metadata geeks is that one of the technical leaders of the spec, when challenged about that, asked why anyone would want time zones).  Some cameras insert the non-industry-standard EXIF field TimeZoneOffset.  I don't know the entire history of this field, but it's not defined in the EXIF 2.2 or 2.3 specs, nor mentioned in the Metadata Working Group's Guidelines For Handling Image Metadata 2.0.  The field is not well-defined -- it only allows offsets of whole hours, whereas over a billion people live in a time zone whose offset is +5:30 (India).
LR preserves EXIF:TimeZoneOffset in your original photo, but it otherwise ignores the field, and it doesn't get copied to exported photos.  This is not unreasonable, given that the field is non-standard.
The XMP metadata fields, typically inserted by software applications, do support time zones, but including a time zone is optional.  LR preserves XMP time zones that are present when the image is imported, even if you change the date/time with Edit Capture Time.  Your original photo did not contain any XMP fields (cameras typically don't insert XMP), so there were no time zones there for LR to preserve.
The Digital Creation date/time fields you observed are intended to record when an image was digitized.  With digital cameras, that's generally the same as capture time, but with scanned images, the date/time of digitization (scanning) is different from the date/time the image was originally captured.  LR's handling of these two different date/times isn't great, but it's adequate for most users.  LR will insert the digitization date/time when an image is first imported (if it doesn't already exist), but Edit Capture Time changes just the capture time, not the digitization date/time.  (A few years ago Adobe changed Edit Capture Time in a point release to also change digitization date/time, on the theory that LR is designed for images from digital cameras, and the two date/times should always be the same; but a number of users who also used LR to manage scanned images complained loudly that LR was overwriting precious metadata, and Adobe backed out that change in the next release.)
So Edit Capture Time will leave photos taken by digital cameras with an incorrect digitization date/time.  But very few users care about that -- it's only users with scanned images who care about the difference, and at least LR will avoid overwriting digitization date/time.
A suggestion for using Exiftool to examine image metadata: Use the "-a -G" options, which causes Exiftool to show which section of the metadata the fields are coming from.   Given the complexity of the legacy metadata industry standards, this will help you better understand what your camera and software tools are doing.  For example:
    [EXIF]          Modify Date                     : 2014:08:31 10:01:45
    [EXIF]          Date/Time Original              : 2014:08:13 11:53:44
    [EXIF]          Create Date                     : 2014:08:13 08:53:44
    [IPTC]          Date Created                    : 2014:08:13
[IPTC]          Digital Creation Date           : 2014:08:13
    [XMP]           Modify Date                     : 2014:08:31 10:01:45-07:00
    [XMP]           Create Date                     : 2014:08:13 08:53:44
    [XMP]           Metadata Date                   : 2014:08:31 10:01:45-07:00
    [XMP]           Date Created                    : 2014:08:13 11:53:44
    [Composite]     Date/Time Created               : 2014:08:13 11:53:44
    [Composite]     Digital Creation Date/Time      : 2014:08:13 08:53:44

  • Metadata for adapters/converters?

I just wondered. What if you shoot pictures with one of those (hopefully not too cheap) lens adapters that you screw onto the front element of the lens. Things like closeup, telephoto and fisheye adapters. Those things effectively change the characteristics of a lens, notably the focal length. The closeup adapter would change the focus distance. Same goes for accesories that go in between the lens and the camera, like telephoto extenders (which I do assume to be intelligent enough to also convert the metadata reported by the lens, given their price), but also extension tubes, which effectively change the focus distance.
I would say that there should at the very least be a way to edit lens metadata. Moreso because one might be shooting with an analogue or manual lens, for example (heaven forbid) a Samyang...
Anyway, I hope my point is clear.
I'm using Lightroom 4.3. If this is in 5.0 then I'll consider it another reason (although a small one) to upgrade

Metadata for namespace '/WEB-INF/tld/struts-bean.tld' is not loaded
    1. Add the struts.jar to the WEB-INF/lib directory.
    2. Add the struts-bean.tld to the WEB-INF directory.
    3. In the web.xml add
    <taglib>
    <taglib-uri>/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld</taglib-uri>
    <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld</taglib-location>
    </taglib>
    4. To the JSP add
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld" prefix="bean" %>

  • Apex logs and interactive reports

Hi everyone! This is my first post, so apologies if I sound like an idiot :). Anyway, my problem is as follows.
I'm on APEX version 4.0 (about to move to 4.1) and I'm trying to tie the APEX_WORKSPACE_ACTIVITY_LOG to the APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT view. So, here's my query:
    SELECT
    L.IR_SAVED_REPORT_ID,
    R.INTERACTIVE_REPORT_ID,
    R.REPORT_NAME
    FROM
    APEX_WORKSPACE_ACTIVITY_LOG L,
    APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT R
    WHERE
    L.IR_SAVED_REPORT_ID IS NOT NULL
AND L.IR_SAVED_REPORT_ID = R.INTERACTIVE_REPORT_IDI don't get any returned values. The IR_SAVED_REPORT_ID column from APEX_WORKSPACE_ACTIVITY_LOG is, according to its description:
    SELECT
    comments
    FROM
    apex_dictionary
    WHERE
    apex_view_name like '%ACTIVITY%LOG%'
AND column_name = 'IR_SAVED_REPORT_ID';=> "Identifies the Saved Interactive Report ID foreign key to the APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT view"
and the INTERACTIVE_REPORT_ID column from APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT:
    SELECT
    comments
    FROM
    apex_dictionary
    WHERE
    apex_view_name = 'APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_IR_RPT'
AND column_name = 'INTERACTIVE_REPORT_ID';=> "ID of the interactive report"
it seemed like the only ID column from that view that made any sense to join to. The return values from IR_SAVED_REPORT_ID looked like this:
    9.67721361230999E15
    9.90492074306116E15
    [snip a few dozen rows]
and INTERACTIVE_REPORT_ID looked very similar (6.62360604127979E15, 5.94051162387204E15, etc.). Am I missing something here?
At the end of the day, all I'm trying to do here is make a metadata report on reports. Specifically, I wanted a report that told me which saved reports people were accessing, and how often they were doing it. I thought this was the way to go about it, but it seems I'm mistaken. I would appreciate any help you guys could provide.

           apex_workspace_activity_log.page_id "Page ID",

           AND apex_workspace_activity_log.page_id =
apex_application_page_ir.page_id:P315_USER is based on a LOV defined by this:

  • Report tool for OWB

Can we use cognos as a reporting tool for Oracle warehouse builder?
    Prasath.

There are two answers to this depending on what your question:
    1) Can I use Cognos to write reports against the OWB repository? Yes you can. There are a series of public tables that expose the key elements of the OWB repository covering, configuration, metadata, data quality, and deployment.
For data quality there is an Application Express sample bundled with OWB that provides a starting point for data quality reporting.

  • Safari 5.1.2 crashes on opening

Using 5.1.2 on MacBook Pro 17" with Snow Leopard. I was running Photoshop, which was a bit slow, as was Safari, so I went ino Safe Boot mode, ran Disk Utiity to repair Permissions but on re-starting Safari kept crashing & sending report to Apple. I have a test account on this computer for these emergencies & Safari also crashed in this account. Have done Disk Repair from Install Disk but it was still crashing. I then noticed a recently installed (December 20) app icon kept in the Dock, but not running, was greyed out with white warning sign so I removed this app & icon, restarted and was pleased to see Safari didn't crash - Hooray!
BUT, on trying to use it, found that it wouldn't load pages, with shading on progress bar only getting a little way along before stopping and as it wasn't crashing it was not generating a Report.
So, restarted & back to crashing on opening. May just give up & use Firefox, but I would like to get this sorted, so Report from latest crash is here, if anyone can make sense of it :

  • Documenting answers and dashboards

Is there any way of automatically generating documentation (e.g. for inclusion in technical/design specs) for answers requests and dashboards.
Given that answers metadata is stored as XML (in files under the BIData directory) I would have thought that some sort of tool would be available. I know that in the repository manager (admin tool) there is a metadata report option, but there does not seem to be antything equivalent for anwers and dashboards.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    Thanks Stijn,
It is a good start - and certainly lets me see/check the basis of the answers requests. However I was hoping that there would be some way of creating documentation (word/PDF etc).
As I said before, the answers requests seem to be stored as XML on disk, so I was hoping that there was a standard way of converting them to a documented format (e.g like javadoc for java programs)

  • Is there any table which records the no. of Jobs run in day in BIP ?

    Hi All,
I want to create a metadata report on what all jobs ran in my BIP production in a day. Is there any repository where this is recorded?
    Please let me know.
I am in 10.1.3.4 and using oracle database
    Thanks,
    Ronny

    Hi Ronny
All the reports the are scheduled the history will be stored in the backend table XMLP_SCHED_JOB.It will create a unique job_id.
Based on this table u can create a report in BIP using the RTF template.....
