Metadata repository shows the main page. but if i press the cubes / ods / any other object. nothing comes. what could be the problem.

Yep, thx for the hint.
Looks like i put it on th test server in compatibility mode, but not on the real server.
Changing this with F12 to IE 8 did the trick!

Bulk Metadata Export Not Working!

I'm a longtime Aperture user and I ran into an issue today that I wasn't having before that latest update.
If I export one picture at a time the metadata transfers and I can read it in other programs. If I bulk export (select 24 or more shots) with the exact same settings (jpeg current size, transfer metadata) the metadate does not transfer.
Anoyone else run into this problem?

I was just about to update this. It turns out it was working. I was using Preview to check the keywords (what I thought I was losing) and that's where things got weird. After I'd completed my export I would go to the folder and open ONE jpeg to check. That jpeg would not show keyword data. I would then check a few more files individually and had the same problem. However, if I did a 'select all' and opened Preview the keywords would show in the inspector. Preview does see the keyword data if I open one jpeg that was exported from Aperture by itself. I hope you followed that. At the end of the day it's not a problem with Aperture or and not much of an issue at all. Just an oddity that I can't explain.

Metadata Search not working

Hi friends,
I have an environment working with UCM10G and everything is running ok except the Metadata search.
At my Content Server i have 26.000 CAD and Image files.
If i do a search by title with the word "ROBOT" i get 26000 results.
If i do a search by title with the word "TOY" i get 26000 results.
The same will happen with the other metadata fields.
So my search isnt filtering the results.
At my config.cfg i have the property: SearchIndexerEngineName=DATABASE.METADATA
Looking at Repository Manager > Indexer i Started Collection Rebuild Cycle and at Indexer Counters i have:
Total 26000
Meta only 26000
My database is Oracle 10G
Did i miss something?

This problem only happens on advanced search. Quick search is running well.

GitPull Clean repository not working with long paths

Hi!
I'm, yet again, fighting against the path length limitation on Windows. For our C# TFS VC projects we were adding a custom CoreCleanAll target on the Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.targets to use robocopy to remove the solution folder, which worked OK.
Now, we are using a git repo with a nodejs code base. The project is built with a very basic msbuild project file, which just runs a couple of gulp tasks on Build.
The build fails because it's unable to remove the git repository after a build, since the node_modules paths installed by npm are too long.
It seems the removal is performed by the GitPull activity on the default build process template. Is there any way we can hook to perform the cleanup ourselves so we can use robocopy to remove the folder?

I'm not actually using Visual Studio, but the server has 2010 & 2013 installed. TFS 2013.
The default git build template is the one doing the removal before building:
I have now set those to False, since otherwise, the build fails when an agent that has already built the project on the past tries to build it again, since it's unable to remove the folder because it contains a node_modules folder (created
during build) which exceeds Windows path length limit.
With False the build works, but of course I do want to clean the repository before each build.
On a TFS VC project where we have a similar issue, we override the CoreCleanAll target where we create an empty temporary folder and use robocopy /PURGE option to delete the actual folder, by copying the empty folder over the exiting one (a very ugly workaround,
but not too many options really...).
In this case, we are using a very basic (almost empty) project file just to be able to build the project by running a couple of commands on the Build target (npm & gulp), so there' no CoreCleanAll target there (and I'm not sure that those definitions
are used when using a git repo either). I guess we could execute something after building, but I would prefer the agent to be able to remove the folder, no matter what, just in case the build fails or any other problem.

OWB repository not working after SID changed ?

Hi,
We have an OWB repository in a database named TEST. Recently the SID has been changed from TEST to TEST_2, and now the control center fails. Do I need to recreate the repository in the database after SID change, or could I just do some reconfigurations ? And if I could, how do I reconfigure the repository & control center based on the new SID name ?

but you should update OWB repository table ( for more details look at this thread

Export HTML Documentation / Metadata repository

Hi,
I'm trying to download (or export) the generated documentation on the metadata repository to my local workstation, but I'm having a problem. The procedure I use (procedure that I found into these forums) is:
- On transport connection, I select the InfoCube for which I want the documentation to be downloaded.
- Right click -> export html documentation
The problem is that on the generated documentation, generated links are not correct. They all have a prefix "SAPEVENT" that doesn't allow the link to be followed and makes it erroneous.
Have you faced this problem? How can be extracted a subset of the metadata repository that works locally on a user workstation?

I recently discovered that on our production system the metadata repository export works perfectly on a local machine (it doesn't generate urls with sapevent string), while in our development system the thing is not working.
This should probably mean that it is all about customizing and configuration (cause both systems are on the same version and SP).
Does anybody know how to configure this in order to export the metadata repository properly?

Externalize metadata strings does not work

Hi All,
We have installed OBIEE 11.1.1.6 with OBIApps 7.9.6.3 and we are trying to apply the spanish localization .
We follow the steps mentioned here:

but "Externalize metadata strings" is not working properly.
We did the following:
- run the import metadata command succesfully (W_LOCALIZED_STRING_G table has the correct data).
- bounce the services
- Configure and test the "Externalized Metadata Strings" connection pool
but the translations does not appears.
We noted that there is a difference between our RPD and the steps in the guide:
The guide says:

But in the pop-up menu you can not mark "Externalize Display Names" because you have a sub-menu there: "Generate Custom Names, Disable Externalization and Clear All Externalization Stings"
Is there some step we are missing?

Metadata Repository search doesn't work NW 2004

After system patching Metadata Repository search stoped working, when I start search short dump occurs
"Function parameter "PTEXT" is unknown.
Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "CL_RSO_REPOSITORY=============CP" had to be
terminated because one of the statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
Function module "SUSR_INTERFACE_PROF" was called
with the parameter "PTEXT".
This parameter is not defined."
I tried to find SAP-notes, but was able to find about NW 2004s
NW 2004, Basis 6-40, BW 3.5, SP BW21, SP Basis21
Any help will be appreciated

Hi Susanne,
unfortunately NO repository is indexed by default so therefore you can not find Room Content before you create an index with the relevant information.
You must create yourself a new index of the repository where Room Content is stored. In EP6 SP2 Patch 5 and higher as well as NW'04 this should be /room_extensions. So add this repository as the Data Source of the index.
After indexing you should be able to perform search of the room content.

In the metadata repository, display the object detail links don't work

We've upgraded to 7.3 and when we lick on display the object details links we get the following message. I've looked in SICF and everything looks active and is set up
Service cannot be reached
What has happened?
call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available.

I have created my fault policy and fault bindings file and tested in my local project. It worked fine.
To make it available in MDS,
I added the files under JDeveloperHome/jdeveloper/integration/seed/apps/faulthandling
I deployed this MDS repository to my server by the below method.
I created a new generic application, then a generic project, to which I added a new Deployment Profile of type JAR file.
To the JAR file, I added my folder in which the policy files exist. I created a SOA bundle from the ‘Applications’
Then I deployed the project to my server finally.
For all these things I refferred to

Now in my adf-config.xml I have made changes as follows.

It could mean that the location for MDS in the code isn't correct.
Can you re-verify the path provided for MDS?

11.1.1.6.4 Repository variables for DSN and USER do not work after upgrade

Hi,
The Repository Variables OLAP_DSN and OLAP_USER no longer work after upgrading to 11.1.1.6.4 i.e they return a connection error when trying to import metadata but the connection is correct if explicitly set without the variable used.
I have tried the following resolution:
- From command line execute commands to set variable properties via admintool.exe /command vartext.txt
Open rpdname user password
SetProperty "Variable" "OLAP_DSN" Initializer "'ORCL.GLOBAL'"
Save
Close
Exit
This script works fine as demonstrated by commenting out Save, Close, Exit and running. But it does not resolve the problem.
The issue is consistent as in the OLAP_USER variable does not work if DNS for connection pool set to ORCL.GLOBAL.
Is this a bug?

Save Metadata not working - please help!

Hi there,
I just purchased LR2 tonight and have imported files from an external hard drive. They are jpgs. I've rated various images and made adjustments in the Develop screen. When I go to manually Save Metadata it tells me "'Writing XMP Metadata' did not complete successfully". When I go to "Edit a photo in CS3" and I choose to "Edit a copy with LR adjustments", I get "Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at /Volumes/PERSONAL/ Photos/2009/2009_05_Mother's_Day/2009_05_Everyday_00025.JPG for editing. It will not be opened."
I've tried starting a new catalog, I've tried moving files from my external to my hard drive and importing from there and nothing is working. I've checked the 'Automatically write changes to XMP' in the Lightroom Catalog Settings (I'm on a Mac). I'm THIS close to losing my mind. Has anyone experienced this before? What am I missing? Obviously, I'm a beginner, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's going to be all right.... for one, writing Metadata to JPEGs is not going to produce sidecar files, and your catalog will track all metadata changes and edits, anyway.
Now, as to the other problem, the folder containing your images, or its parent folder may be locked or have permissions set wrong. Check with Get Info on each relevant folder in the hierarchy.
Also try renaming the image to a nice short name. The file path as a whole is a lot longer than any on my Mac, and possibly poses a problem.

Email notification mail not working in case of customer repository

Hi Experts,
We have the system MDM 7.1 SP06, we are not able to get the email notification for customer repository. For other repositories like material & vendor mails are working fine. I Have checked the following steps.
1) Added notification step to the workflow between processes.
2) Verified the email addresses of the workflow owner and the receiver of the notification.
3) Verified that the mds.ini has the "MailServer=" setup to the right smtp.
I have check in workflow history, it is showing notify step but not showing details of mail like send to, mail body. While in case of material repository, it was showing complete details like send to, mail body & all.
Previously mails for customers were working fine. Kindly suggest the solution.

Hi Gaurang,
Are the time parameter same for all the repositories?
Create a dummy user and dummy workflow,and try to send mail from that workflow.
If this works with some id then check with the Admin id which you are using.
This way you can eliminate the possibility of id not working.Also it will tell you that user is corrupt or not.
Check for log and traces,kindly provide with the post here.
