Metadata Requirements?

What metadata is required to enter for individual tracks to get them all to show up under the same album artwork?

Steve MacGuire aka turingtest2 - iTunes & iPod Hints & Tips - Grouping Tracks Into Albums - http://www.samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp (older post on Apple Discussions http://discussions.apple.com/message/9910895)
Quick answer:  Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.

  • Push image with Podcast - metadata required?

    Hi there,
I am testing out my new podcast within iTunes.
I have my RSS feed, and within iTunes I have done the following:
    - Go to the "Advanced" menu
    - Click "Subscribe to a podcast"
Once I enter the URL to my RSS file, the file begins to download in iTunes.
Once the file is successfully downloaded, I right-click on it in my podcast menu, and choose "Get Info". This is where my problem is. There is no album artwork available.
I know that I can manually add atrwork as an end user, but I don't want that.
I want to send out the image with the podcast, so that it is automatically downloaded and entered in the album atrwork space.
I have subscribed to many podcasts manually that seem to send out an image which is automatically downloaded and entered in the image artwork area.
Can anyone tell me know this is done? Is this specified in the XML file? I'm a little confused.
    Any help would be great.
    Kind regards
    K

    Hi there,
Its the "Cover Art" that isn't working. I added the artwork to the mp3 file through iTunes music library, and I then re-uploaded the mp3 file to the server (with the artwork attached). I then manually subscribed to the RSS feed. The mp3 downloaded successfully, but the artwork was still not included when I right clicked on the track and chose "Get info". It seems to be getting stripped out somewhere, but I can't figure out where.
I am waiting to see if my podcast is submitted to iTunes....I only did it yesterday. It can take 5 days can't it? Here it is: www.jonathanpilling.co.uk/kubik.xml
    Thanks for any advice.

  • Require entry of metadata when creating a folder in a document library

    Sharepoint Foundation 2010 -
While users are required to enter metadata when uploading a document, it would be a tremendous help if they were required to enter metadata when creating a folder inside a document library.
Is there a way to force entry of metadata when creating a folder? And if this is possible, can I create different metadata requirements for documents uploaded inside a folder?
    Thanks.

Yes, you will need to create a Content Types that inherits the Folder Content Type, and then assign your new Content Type to your library. The following blog post explains how to do this (it was written for 2007 but same applies for 2010),
    http://www.sharepoint-guru.com/2007/06/adding-metadata-to-folder.html
You can create additional Content Types to reflect the different types of files, each with their own set of metadata columns and requirements.

  • Visual Studio 2012: Can't access Sharepoint Web Services because of Discovery Credentials Prompt

    Hi.
I've exactly the same problem that is descripted
here, so I'll add its description here.
    My SharePoint is 2010
I am trying to access the web services that are located in this url:
http://<part_of_th_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx. I have no problem accessing
this URL using my broswer, that is, when I type the URL and my browser's address bar and press enter, I can see the list of the services that are available. I encounter no problem by accessing this site through my browser at all.
However, when I try to access the services from that URL (http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx),
a Discovery Credential Dialog box prompts me for my username and password. SO what I do is I enter my username and password that I used to access the sharepoint using my browser, the problem is, the dialog box doesn't seem to accept the username and password
that I enter as the dialog box is keep on appearing.
Below are the detailed steps on how I go about in adding the Web Services.
    1. From the Solution Explorer, I right click on the "Service References" folder.
    2. From the context menu that appears, I Click on "Add Service Reference...". The "Add Service Reference" Dialog box will appear.
    3. From the "Add Service Reference" dialog box, I click on the "Advanced,,," button which can be seen at the bottom-left of the dialog
box. The "Service Reference Settings" Dialog box will appear.
    4. From the "Service Reference Settings" dialog box, I click on the "Add Web Reference..." dialog box. The "Add Web Reference"
Dialog box will appear. This is the dialog box where I can type the URL of the service that I want to access. So I type "http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx".
AFter typing that, I click on the Go button (which is the green arrow button at the right of the address bar of this dialog box).
    5. After doing that, a prompt dialog box will appear which has the title "Windows Security" and it is aking for my username and password. SO
what I do is I enter the Username and the Password that I use in accessing the sharepoint site (http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx)
    6. The prompt seems to accept the Username and Password, but after that, a new dialog box appeared with the title "Discovery Credential" and
it says "The Service 'http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx' requires a username and
password". SO what I do is I enter again the un and pw that I use to access the sharepoint site, the one that I used inm the previous dialog box.
7 After entering the username and the password and clicking the OK button. The dialog box reappears still asking for a username and a password, but this
time, it shows a different message. It says "The Service 'http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx/$metadata'
requires a username and password". SO it really, what oonly changed is the URL, it has now the $metadata at the end. What do I do? I eneter the username and password again.
    8. After clicking Ok again, the dialog box reappears, now it says "The Service 'http://<part_of_the_url_omitted>/_layouts/1033/error.aspx'
requires a username and password." Now it shows a very different username. Of ocurse, I still type in the username and password and click Ok.
    9. after doing that, the dialog box reappears again and it shows the same message as in step 6. So I do steps 6, 7 and 8 in a loop.
    10. When I finally get tired of entering the username and password, I click on cancel. The message box reappears again. So I click on cancel again. After
doing that, I can then, surprisingly, see the list of the web services. However, not surprisingly, I still can't use it because the "Add Reference" button which I need to click in order to use the Web services is disabled. So I can only see the list
of the services but I can't use it.

    Hi Gaston,
I would suggest you the following thread, check whether it meet your scenario, it shows that if you have set IE options to remember the username and password, and you have enter wrong password before, this issue may happen:

Directory Server     Defines a hierarchical view of an organization’s employees, units, and other resources
OracleAS Farm     A collection of OracleAS instances sharing the same configuration repository. The repository can be OracleAS Metadata Repository or a file-based repository.
OracleAS Cluster     A collection of OracleAS Instances in the same Farm, with identical application deployments and functioning as a single unit.
    Oracle HTTP Server
Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) is the underlying deployment platform and provides a Web listener for OracleAS Containers for J2EE (OC4J) and the framework for hosting static and dynamic pages and applications over the Web. Oracle HTTP Server is based on Apache, and has been enhanced with the following additional modules:
    •     mod_plsql: Routes requests for stored procedures to the database server
    •     mod_perl: Routes PERL requests to the PERL interpreter
    •     mod_fastcgi: Supports persistent CGI processes
    •     mod_oc4j: Routes communication between Oracle HTTP Server and OracleAS Containers for Java (OC4J)
    •     mod_oradav: Supports file- as well as database-distributed authoring and versioning
    •     mod_ossl: Enables strong cryptography for Oracle HTTP Server, and enables the server to use SSL.
    •     mod_osso: Routes requests to the Single Sign-On server
This is not a complete list, and some of the modules will be discussed in detail later.
With Oracle Application Server, developers can choose familiar languages and technology to build Web sites and applications, including Java, XML, PL/SQL, PERL, C, C++, and Distributed Authoring and Versioning (DAV).
    OracleAS Containers for J2EE
The J2EE platform that is provided in Oracle Application Server uses a multi-tiered distributed application model that divides application logic into components according to function.
A container provides the run-time support for J2EE application components. Containers provide a federated view of the underlying J2EE APIs to the application components.
OracleAS Containers for J2EE (OC4J) is a J2EE server implementation that runs on a standard Java Virtual Machine (JVM). OC4J has the following J2EE containers:
    •     The Web Container that has:
    -     A servlet container
    -     A JSP container
    •     An EJB container that has
    -     Session Beans
    -     Entity Beans
    -     Message-Driven Beans
The J2EE concepts are further explained in Appendix D.
    OracleAS Web Services
You can use Web Services to expose your applications in a manner you choose so that they can receive formatted instructions over the Web.
A Web service is a discrete business process that:
    •     Exposes and describes its functionality and attributes in Web Services Description Language (WSDL)
    •     Uses the Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) registries to allow other services to locate a service on the Web such as the translation or currency converter service
    •     Allows remote services to invoke a service using standard Internet protocols
    •     Returns a response to the requesting application over the same protocol
OracleAS Web Services provide support for developing and deploying Web services.
OracleAS Web Services run as servlets in the OC4J servlet container. OracleAS Web Services support both Remote Procedure Call (RPC) style exchange and message-oriented, or Document Style exchange.
    OracleAS Enterprise Portal
Portals allow clients to access information through any Web browser. This information usually comes from different data sources that the portal combines into a single entry point. Portals also support personalized views, so that each user or user group can customize both the content and the appearance of the portal to suit individual preferences and requirements.
OracleAS Portal is a Web-based tool for building and deploying e-business portals. It provides a secure, manageable environment for accessing and interacting with enterprise software services and information resources. It enables you to efficiently manage, access, and interact with information by enabling you to create portal pages.
OracleAS Portal has an extensible framework that integrates information components called portlets. The portlets are Web-based resources such as Web pages, applications, business intelligence reports, and syndicated content feeds within standardized, reusable information components.
OracleAS Portal interface provides an organized, consistent view of the business information, Web content, and applications that each user needs.
OracleAS Portal self-service publishing features allow authorized users to post and share any kind of document or Web content with other users anywhere in the world.
    Wireless-Enabled Applications
Mobile users increasingly rely on wireless devices for communication while away from the office. OracleAS Wireless enables enterprises and service providers to efficiently build, manage, and maintain wireless and voice applications. OracleAS Wireless also provides:
    •     Geographic modeling that turns existing applications into location-based applications
    •     E-mail and directory modules to access corporate e-mail and directory applications:
    -     mWallet supports mobile commerce transactions and tracking.
    -     Mobile E-mail supports accessing IMAP and POP e-mail.
    -     Mobile Directory supports access to LDAP directories.
    -     Mobile Calendar provides schedule and appointment management.
    -     Instant Messaging supports exchanging instant messages from mobile devices.
    •     Open platform standards for simple development and easy integration with existing applications
    •     Tools to turn applications into voice applications accessible from non-Web phones
    -     Service Designer helps developers manage applications.
    -     Content Development Tool helps the end user to increase his mobile experience.
    -     Help Desk provides support to end users.
    -     System Monitor helps manage the OracleAS Wireless environment.
    OracleAS Reports Services
Developers can build and publish sophisticated, high-quality reports from any source, with unlimited data formatting, and deploy them seamlessly on Oracle Application Server.
Both developers and users can access OracleAS Reports Services from any browser, because all report definition files are stored on the OracleAS middle-tier. Reports Services leverages middle-tier load balancing and caching to provide high volumes of reports, without excessive demands on limited resources.
Users can also link to published reports from OracleAS Portal. Depending on the report configuration, it can be generated on demand or scheduled for a specific time or at a specific interval and stored on the middle tier for rapid retrieval.
Reports Services can generate reports in HTML for Web publishing, in PDF to enable high-quality viewing and printing, or in XML to communicate data to XML-aware tools or Web sites.
Regardless of format, OracleAS can ensure secure distribution of reports by allowing only specific database roles to access the report, and validating user credentials against a Single Sign-On server and Oracle Internet Directory (OID).
    OracleAS Discoverer
OracleAS Discoverer is a tool with an ad hoc query, reporting, analysis, and Web publishing capabilities. Discoverer works with any OLTP or data warehouse and supports Oracle Applications.
With Discoverer, business users at all levels of the organization can gain immediate access to information from data marts, data warehouses, and online transaction processing (OLTP) systems. You can rapidly view information in customizable summary formats, drill down to detail views, and perform complex calculations on data, including analytic functions available in the Oracle database.
OracleAS Discoverer is available in two types of clients:
    •     Discoverer Plus, which runs as a Java applet and features user-defined queries and reports
    •     Discoverer Viewer, which runs in a browser and provides casual users with access to predefined queries and drill-down reports
    OracleAS Web Cache
OracleAS Web Cache functions as a front end for the application servers. The first time that OracleAS Web Cache receives an HTTP or HTTPS request, it forwards the request to an HTTP server for processing. Web Cache stores the response in memory based the defined caching rules so that it can respond directly to future requests.
Web Cache understands HTTP headers, including cookies, and makes caching decisions based on administrator or application-defined rules.
To invalidate the cache, administrators can specify expiration policies or applications can send an HTTP invalidation message.
Deploying the Web cache before a farm of application or HTTP servers enables clustering, surge protection, and Web server load balancing, so that cache misses are directed to the most available, highest-performing origin Web server.
    Accelerating Performance with Caching
OracleAS Web Cache can render the service from a Web site faster by reducing unnecessary hits on the other middle-tier and back-end components.
Furthermore, deploying Web Cache helps to reduce your hardware and administration costs. In a distributed environment, you can deploy Web Cache on machines at remote sites instead of deploying multiple HTTP servers. As a result, many requests can be handled locally by Web Cache, avoiding middle-tier and back-end processing, as well as slower throughput on WANs.
Web Cache accelerates delivery of both static and dynamic contents.
Web Cache also provides load balancing, by distributing cache miss requests according to the relative capacity of each HTTP server.
Multiple instances of Web Cache, called cluster members, can operate as one logical cache. They communicate with one another to request cacheable content that is cached by another cache cluster member and to detect when a cache cluster member fails.
To enable cache clusters to function as a single unit, you need to setup a load balancer.
    Oracle Application Server Management
The primary tool for managing Oracle Application Server, as well as your entire Oracle environment, is Oracle Application Server.
The Oracle Enterprise Manager Application Server Control is installed with every instance of Oracle Application Server and immediately provides you with the management tools that you need to monitor and administer a single Oracle Application Server instance, a farm of application server instances, or an Oracle Application Server cluster.
In addition to Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Application Server provides command-line interfaces to several key management technologies. The command-line tools can help you automate your management procedures with scripts and custom utilities. The two most important command-line tools are the following:
    •     opmnctl, which provides a command-line interface to Oracle Process Management Notification (OPMN)
    •     dcmctl, which provides a command-line interface to Distributed Configuration Management (DCM)
    OracleAS Infrastructure
OracleAS Infrastructure provides centralized services that are related to the product metadata, identity management, and configuration management.
OracleAS Infrastructure provides centralized identity management services, configuration information, and data repositories for middle-tier installations. The key features that middle-tier instances typically use are the following:
    •     Product Metadata Service: Product Metadata Service provides all of the metadata that the middle-tier instances require. It is bundled as part of the OracleAS Infrastructure. Product Metadata is looked up by middle-tier OracleAS instances for the successful execution of applications. Product metadata is not accessed directly by the customer applications.
    •     Security Service: Security Service provides a consistent security model for all Oracle Application Server applications. It also provides a single source of identity metadata that contains all administration and user privileges.
    Oracle Internet Directory and Security
Oracle Internet Directory (OID) is an LDAP server that can be used to store all of the credentials required for the enterprise. Oracle Internet Directory offers comprehensive and flexible support for directory access control. This includes entry-level, attribute-level, and prescriptive access control, to provide varying levels of security to fit enterprise and service provider needs.
OID implements three levels of user authentication:
    •     Anonymous
    •     Password-based
    •     Certificate-based, using secure sockets layer (SSL) for authenticated access and data privacy
The Web-based Delegated Administration Service (DAS) enables application administrators to delegate user management tasks such as granting or restricting access to a specific directory attribute, entry, group, or naming context to application users.
After OID is deployed, organizations can use OracleAS Single Sign-On to provide a single point of validation for user credentials. After users sign on successfully, their credentials are automatically retrieved from OID when they launch any Oracle partner application.
    Securing the Web Infrastructure
For network encryption and authentication, Oracle Application Server provides a comprehensive suite of security services, including OracleAS Single Sign-On. The Single Sign-On server validates user credentials against Oracle Internet Directory, an LDAP directory service.
Also, secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption can be used to protect these transactions against malicious intrusion.
    Oracle Application Server: Quick Tour
A good starting point to get familiar with and learn about features of Oracle Application Server is to access the Quick Tour. You can find the Quick Tour in the Oracle Application Server documentation library. The Oracle Application Server documentation library is available:
    •     On a separate CD in the Oracle Application Server CD pack
    •     On Oracle Technology Network Web site at http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/index.html

Nice, am I coming in here to read the English docs again?

  • How to use a repository in a new report

    Hello,
I am starting to learn OBIEE and installed it in my home environment. I installed OBIEE, and used the RCU to install a repository in an Oracle database.
Then, I used the BI Administration tool to make a 'repository' which connects to my data (also in an Oracle database).
In the BI Administration tool I now have a physical layer, a business model and mapping, and a presentation layer. I saved this as a rpd file on my harddisk.
Then, in the Oracle BIEE Home I choose 'New report'. But I cannot find how I can choose my 'repository' with my data. I also tried to make a new datamodel, but here I am also not able to choose my repository.
How can I connect to my data in a report ? How does it work ?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Best Regards,
    André.

    You are totally getting Confused..
    Have these understanding first.
    You have DB installed.
You will create schema(Two users) in DB using RCU(Repository Creation Utility:Basically stores metadata required for OBIEE).
You will install OBIEE and use these schema there.
Above installation installs weblogic and then deploy BI files to weblogic to make them work. You should remember weblogic password.
Now when you open up Admin tool --Repository password should be 'Admin123' (A in capital)  and username is weblogic and password should be weblogic password.
You will be able to open up the RPD in online mode.
I suggest you to first go through the Architecture of OBIEE and then start installation and start exercises.
mark correct or helpfull if it helps. Also let me know if you were able to open RPD and answers.

  • Is it possible to create dimension roles in AWM?

    Hi,
Is it possible to create dimension roles in AWM like the way we have in OWB ?
If yes, please direct on the way to do this.
Many thanks in advance for your kind inputs.
    Piyush

I think what you need is to use the ALIAS option that is part of the DEFINE DIMENSION statement
    DEFINE DIMENSION ALIASOF
The DEFINE DIMENSION ALIASOF command defines a dimension alias for a simple dimension. An alias dimension has the same type and values as its base dimension. Typically, you define an alias dimension when you want to dimension a variable by the same dimension twice.
Additionally, You can use a LIMIT statement to limit alias dimensions and define variables and relations using an alias dimension. However, you cannot maintain an alias dimension directly; instead you maintain its base dimension using MAINTAIN.
    Syntax
DEFINE name DIMENSION ALIASOF dimension [TEMP] [AW workspace] [SESSION]
    Arguments
    name
The name of the object you are defining. For general information about this argument, see the main entry for the DEFINE command.
    DIMENSION ALIASOF
If you look at this example if provides a great example of how to use this feature:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/olap.102/b14346/dml_x_decimal006.htm#ABC1485326
But of course the main issue here is how to generate the standard form metadata required to support this feature and make the dimension alias avaliable and visible within AWM. That is the difficult (and I would say impossible) part of the process since this feature is not supported by the AW XML API (at least I don't think it is, you could check the API docs to see if this is supported). if it is not supported then the management of this feature would all have to be controlled via OLAP DML commands (load dimension members etc) but you would still not be able to include it within a cube definition and then maintain that cube using AW XML API.
    Does that help?

  • Oracle troubles with multiple schemas in same database

We have several different users set up with individual schemas in the
same Oracle database. We run into trouble when more than one user tries
to use Kodo in their local schema. Things go fine for User A, but when
the User B tries to run the schematool on their own Oracle schema, they
    get this nonsense:
javax.jdo.JDOFatalDataStoreException: An error occurred while connecting
    to the data store.
    NestedThrowables:

If the User A drops all the tables from their schema, then things go
fine for User B ... but then User A will have the same problem when they
    try to run the schematool.
It is our suspicion that Kodo is actually selecting the metadata all of
the tables in **everybody's** schemas, and thus erroneously thinking
that jdo_schema_medatax already exists. It really ought to restrict
itself to the schema it's actually connected to.
If our theory is correct, it would explain why Kodo is so incredibly,
horribly, painfully slow to connect to our Oracle database -- we have
dozens of schemas in there, many of which have hundreds of tables.
    Is 2.3.0 addressing this problem?

    Paul,
Are you using the 'schema-name' system preference setting for each user?
Oracle's mechanism for selecting database metadata requires that the
appropriate schema name be explicitly when more than one schemas are used.
See the database setup section of our documentation for more information.

  • Navteq sample data

    hi,
I have problems during the navteq sampla data import (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/mapviewer/htdocs/navsoft.html). I'm follwing exactly the instructions from the readme file.

Hi, I followed the instructions from the readme file:
    1. Create a work directory on your machine. Change directory to your work
directory and download the world_sample.zip file into it. Unzip the
    world_sample.zip file:
    C:\> mkdir world_sample
    C:\> cd world_sample
    C:\world_sample> unzip world_sample.zip
    2. In your work directory, open a Sqlplus session and connect as the SYSTEM
user. Create a user for the World Sample data (if you have not previously
    done so):
    C:\world_sample> sqlplus SYSTEM/password_for_system
    SQL> CREATE USER world_sample IDENTIFIED BY world_sample;
    SQL> GRANT CONNECT, RESOURCE TO world_sample;
    3. This step loads the World Sample data into the specified user, and creates
the metadata required to view the sample data as a Map in MapViewer. Before
you begin, make a note of the full directory path of your work directory,
since you will be prompted for it. You will also be prompted for the user
(created in step 2), and the SYSTEM-user password. This step assumes that
you are already connected as the SYSTEM user, and that you are in your work
directory. To begin, run the load_sample_data.sql script in your Sqlplus
session. Exit the Sqlplus session after the script has successfully
    concluded:
    SQL> @load_sample_data.sql
              Enter value for directory_name: C:\world_sample
              Enter value for user_name: world_sample
              Password: password_for_system
    SQL> exit;
In step 2 I created a user dedicated tablespace. The same problem.
    Regards Arnd.

  • Sender Abap Proxy -- Receiver JDBC , catch communication channel exceptions

    Hi All,
I have a sender abap proxy and a receiver jdbc asynchronous interface.
Now under some circumstances when I send some junk data for an update query(which satisfies metadata requirement but wrong primary key) it shows chequered flag in both XI and r/3.
But in communication channel it shows error.
    Queries:
    1. How do I handle this.
    2. Since this is triggered from Abap wht will be subrc when method ends in this particular case.
    3. Is there any possibility of program goin into dump?

  • Creating Database Standard Form Analytic Workspaces

Just been looking through the new 9.2.0.4.1 documentation and came across the following. Thought it might be useful.
The 9.2.0.4.1 release of Oracle OLAP introduces a new concept known as Database Standard Form Analytic Workspaces. This is a way of constructing analytic workspaces in a standard way such that they can be used by tools such as the Analytic Workspace Manager, the Java OLAP API, and BI Beans.
When analytic workspaces are created from a relational star-schema using the Analytic Workspace Manager, it automatically creates the analytic workspace in standard form as part of the migration process. However, if youre migrating an Express database to Oracle OLAP, the migrated database has to be processed to be in standard form before it is usable by any of the new Oracle OLAP GUI tools.
    If you create an analytic workspace using PL/SQL or the OLAP Worksheet, of course you can create dimensions, variables, relations and so on in any form, just as you can create table structures, joins, views and columns in any form in a relational database. However, the database standard form requirement stipulates that;
Certain objects and properties need to be found in the analytic workspace, that are used by tools such as the Analytic Workspace Manager to perform tasks such as aggregation, data loads, and OLAP API enablement. OLAP DML views (beginning with AW$) need to created in the analytic workspace, to provide metadata and to identify relationships between objects in the analytic workspace. Objects need to be registered in the OLAP Catalog, and these registrations have to be kept in sync so that the OLAP tools are aware of changes to the base objects. Data that is migrated in to an analytic workspace, from a relational star-schema using the Analytic Workspace Manager, is already in database standard form and no further work is needed. However, some work is needed to get migrated Express databases into standard form, and Oracle have provided a utility with the 9.2.0.4.1 release of Oracle OLAP to help accomplish this.
This utility, known as CREATE_DB_STDFORM, is an OLAP DML program that takes existing Oracle Express Objects metadata in a migrated Express database, and uses this to create the additional metadata required to make the analytic workspace database standard form.
Once CREATE_DB_STDFORM has been used to create this additional metadata, it can also be used to import data into the workspace either from flat files, or from Oracle tables and views. If you dont have Express Objects metadata in the Express database, CREATE_DB_STDFORM doesnt work, and youll have to use Oracle Warehouse Builder 9.2 to initially create a relational star-schema that equates to the Express database, then use the OLAP Bridge within OWB to export the data into a database standard form analytic workspace.
CREATE_DB_STDFORM, once run, allows the migrated Express database to be accessed via BI Beans straight afterwards, as it creates all the OLAP Catalog entries required for the OLAP API. If the Express database only contains data at the lowest level (i.e. it hasnt been rolled up), aggregation wizards in the Analytic Workspace Manager can be used to summarise the data as required.
CREATE_DB_STDFORM doesnt do everything, however. First of all, you need to have created Oracle Express Objects metadata within the Express database, which is an additional step and not always appropriate for all systems. In addition, you need to create time dimensions in a particular way, which may require the data model to be adjusted to meet this requirement. Lastly, any Express language programs within the Express database may need to be adjusted to remove or change commands that have changed or become obsolete.
The new document, Oracle OLAP Application Developers Guide Release 9.2.0.4.1, available on metalink under note 251352.1, details how database standard form works, has code examples, and walks through the migration of the XADEMO Express database to an analytic workspace using database standard form.

In your message, you wrote "Certain objects and properties need to be found ... aware of changes to base objects". A large bit is represented by "...". Question is whether I have any commands or package functions that I can use to set up all the proper objects and relationships to make it have database standard form, short of regressing to a ROLAP star schema and usnig the AWM wizard. I have what appears to be working MOLAP activity, all created at the OLAP worksheet prompt, and loaded with DML program. Do I really have to put that all aside and start with a star schema? No way to put my AW in standard form for OLAP API without this?

  • OBIEE 11g on Linux - do I need a DB Client Installed???

I have installed an 11gR2 database on an OEL Virtual Machine, and on a separate VM installed OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
The RCU created the metadata required for BI - and out of the box, OBIEE works absolutely fine.
Now I'm trying to migrate a database and RPD etc from another (Windows) environment... and I'm getting errors:
"Oracle Error code: 12154, message: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified at OCI call OCIServerAttach. [nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. (HY000)."
This suggests that I need an Oracle Client installed on my OBIEE server, to enable it to connect to my DB server.
This seems odd - as RCU has created the metadata fine, and OBIEE is obviously using it? Do I really need a client now? Please could someone explain?
    Thank you!

Oracle client should be installed in the OBIEE machine, then add Oracle server information to tnsnames.ora file . Later copy the tnsnames.ora into OBIEE installed directory, for more information see the following link.

  • GG with RAC - failover

11.1.1 GG on Oracle 11gR2 - Source is single instance - Target is two node RAC .
We are planning to have HA for the GG process - If one node goes down we have to start processing from the second Node. - We are planning to have a shared file system for GG software - which will have all the metadata required shared across nodes - Can we use the RAC virtual IP for the pump process to ship the trail files - If one node goes down VIP fails over to the other node and we will have the trail files over there - Is it a supported config ? Can you share some metalink notes for configuring GG on RAC Target -

  • Error connecting to stored procedure in crystal report

    Hello
I'm using crystal reports 2008 with the latest service pack.
i'm trying to access stored procedure using the mysql jdbc driver 5.17. The crystal report has been designed which works fine with a login that created the stored procedure but when i try to run with another login that will used to run the crystal reports
The login has access to execute the stored procedure but entered in the crystal report it complains about
"User does not have access to metadata required to determine stored procedure parameter types. If rights cannot be granted, configure with {noAccessToProcedureBodies=true} to have driver generate parameters that represent INOUT strings irregardless of actual paramter types"

    Hi Sharon
    Thanks for response.
I have checked that the user has permission to read and write. When i try and execute the stored procedure in the database by login with the user, it runs fine.
When i try and call the stored procedure from crystal reports it throws that error message.
