Metadata Uneditable in MS Windows

This may be a Mac vs PC thing, not specific to Aperture, but when I export versions from Aperture and copy them to my wife's PC she is unable to edit the file "properties". In Windows the properties are things like title, caption, and comments.  It throws a "80070057" error and says the parameters are incorrect. I've searched Google with no solution other than for her to convert them to png then back to jpg (which I have not tried but I assume it works).  She is able to edit properties on files imported directly from the camera card.  Is the structure created by Aperture different from what PCs use/create?

You can get the font name by calling getFont().getFontName() or getFont().getName() from the buttons.
There are a few default fonts that are mapped to some other fonts
sansserif
serif
dialog
monospaced
These mappings can be found in a file called font.properties in your jdk installation. It is in the lib folder.

  • RIFF Metadata not showing in Windows Explorer

    Hi -
I've been testing CS6 for inputting Metadata into the RIFF and BWF headers, and then opening them up in Audition 3.0.1 to see if the mapping is the same, or, if any fields are missing across products.
One thing I've discovered is that when I add metadata in CS6 and save the file, the file information (from the RIFF fields) does not display in Windows Explorer.
However, if I open the same file in Audition 3.0.1, the metadata is there, and if I re-save the file in Audition with a different name, the metadata does display in Windows Explorer.
Is this a bug, or, am I doing something wrong in CS6?
    Thanks!
    Allison

ensure you have some image in your "Camera Roll". Take a picture then plug it back. if still didn't show use your "Scanner and Camera Wizad".

  • Errors when writing metadata to files on Windows Server

    Good day!
I have an iMac running OSX 10.9 (Maverick) and Lightroom 5.2.
My catalog is on the local iMac drive, and the images are on SMB shared drive (handled by Windows 2012 server).
I decided to do the final layout of my album using InDesign, and for that I needed to access to images using Bridge. So selected all the images (the rated once...) and issue a Metadata/Save command.
The system came back with errors on many of the files (such as Photos are read only, and unknown errors).
Retrying to save the metadata on image that was flagged with an error usually (but not always) worked.
I tried to select save the metadata for few (6) images in a time, many times it was ok, but sometimes, one or two of them failed (and retrying again usually solved the problem).
It looks to me like a timing related issue.
    Any ideas?
(After spending about an hour on this, I have exported the images to my local drive...). In general I don't have similar problems with other apps.
    Any ideas?
    Yuval

    I Yuval
I'm experiencing more or less the same behavior (see Read-only error when writing metadata to file over network (Synology DS1315+ using AFP) ). For me however, the problem is more pronounced if I use the AFP protocol and is better (I think as you described) if I use SMB (all done on a Synology DS1315+). With SMB it most often works but in very rare cases I also get the "read only" message!
Do you have solution to this? Or are you stuck as I am?
    Cheers, Chris

  • Why can't I see my metadata in my project window

ps. I have the "problem" window column layout how I like it (label, scene, description). How can this be the default for all other views? ie. When I open a bin, the default layout is not my preferred layout.

It's a UI regresion is it not?
Changing standard behaviour like this, then assuming it's all ok seems quite strange, considering it's a years old feature that every probably uses as a management window...
Some people think that a missing downloads window is a bug even.

  • ITunes window closes when trying to paste metadata via mouse.

For a while now, when I am editing the metadata in my iTunes window, whether it be music, movies etc, if I try to paste information into the appropriate space using the mouse, the window automatically closes without me being able to enter the data. I can paste info via the paste command in the menu just fine. I'm using iTunes 10.6.1. on an iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Any idea as to what is going one here?

  • Importing metadata from My Pictures in Windows

Hi - Some of my jpegs in My Pictures in Windows 8 have data that I would like to have imported into LIghtroom.  In Windows, each jpeg has "Properties", and in the "Properties" dialogue box, there are General, Security & Details tabs.  On the Details tab is an area for Comments.  It is these Comments that I would like to be included when I sync and/or import into Lightroom 5.5.   However, this does not seem to occur.  While viewing the Metadata for a picture in Lightroom (Library module), there is a Comments area, but my screen shows the message "Selected Service Does Not Support Comments".
So, my 2 questions are:  Is there a way to include the Comments data that had been entered on the original photo so that the data can be viewed/edited in Lightroom?   What does the message "Selected Service Does Not Support Comments" mean?
    Thank you.
    Donna

In Windows, each jpeg has "Properties", and in the "Properties" dialogue box, there are General, Security & Details tabs.  On the Details tab is an area for Comments.  It is these Comments that I would like to be included when I sync and/or import into Lightroom 5.5.
This is a non-industry-standard metadata field introduced by Windows XP, and most other software (including LR) ignores it.   If you'd like to import that field into LR, you could use Exiftool (free) to copy (or append) that field into the field that LR will read as its caption (XMP:Description).  Exiftool has the ability to process many photos all at once and make backups of the originals.
While viewing the Metadata for a picture in Lightroom (Library module), there is a Comments area, but my screen shows the message "Selected Service Does Not Support Comments".
LR has the ability to publish collections of pics to services like Flickr or Facebook and sync those collections with the services.  If, for example, a Flickr user adds a comment at Flickr.com to a pic that's being synced with a LR published collection, LR will download the comment and show it in the Comments area.  This feature has very limited usefulness, since you can't copy text from the Comments field (!) and you can't search the field, or even search for photos that have comments.

  • Author metadata separated by semi-colons truncated in file properties and "Get Info"

I'm using Acrobat Professional 9.0 (CS3) for Mac to edit the metadata for a collection of PDFs to be made available on the web. When I enter the data, I am inputting a list of authors separated by commas, like this: Smith J, Watson C, Brown J. If I click on "Additional metadata", the data I've already entered is transposed into the various XMP fields. And the commas separating the author names are changed to semi-colons. I gather that this happens because XMP wants to separate multiple authors with semi-colons, and Acrobat wants the metadata in XMP fields to match the metadata stored for the file properties. Fine.
However, if I save such a PDF and then use Get Info on my Mac (OSX 10.4) to look at the file properties, the list of authors is now truncated where the first semi-colon appears. The list is also truncated in Windows XP if I right-click and select properties. The list is also truncated when I look at the file properties in Preview on my Mac, or if I look at file properties using FoxIT, or using Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 or earlier. The only way a site visitor will actually be able to view the full list of authors in a file saved this way is to use Adobe Reader version 8 or later.
I would like to preserve XMP/Dublin Core/etc metadata in the proper format in the XMP code, but would also like users of standard, popular file viewers to be able to access the full list of authors. Is there a way to do this with Acrobat 9?
Also, once I've saved a file and the XMP metadata has been altered, Acrobat seems to permanently change the way that the authors are listed in the file properties. I cannot manually change those settings any longer without Acrobat overriding my changes and converting commas to semi-colons, or surrounding the entire list of authors in quotation marks. Is there a way to get around these Acrobat overrides and manually take control of my metadata again?
Does Windows Vista read the authors list correctly in the file properties if it is separated by semi-colons?
It seems to me that in an attempt to get XMP metadata working smoothly across the entire CS line, Adobe has jumped the gun somewhat and is now forcing Acrobat users to use "file properties" metadata that is really only fully compatible with Adobe products. Is there a way I can get some backwards compatibility on this?
Thanks for any suggestions or insight anyone can provide to this vexing issue.
    Phil.

Bridge has some pretty powerful and helpful features. However, I am unable to figure out how to access the non-XMP "file properties" fields through Bridge, and if I add metadata via Bridge, then I run into the same problem regarding the use of semi-colons to separate authors.
If I had more time, or a larger set of files I might investigate the use of ExtendScript to import all my metadata from an Excel file (where it already exists) into the PDF file properties and XMP metadata.
The best solution for my case though appears to be to use Acrobat 9 and to do the double-edit process for each file. I should be able to just cut-and-paste the metadata from the Excel file, and then if I save the Authors list to the end, I can simply paste it once into the XMP field (through the Advanced metadata button) and then return to the regular file properties page and paste it again in there, where Acrobat will add quotes around it.
Lastly, if anyone else happens to find this post and is looking for similar information, I would recommend searching in the Bridge forum as well as the Acrobat forum.
    Phil.

  • File info... window invisible

Using Illustrator CC 2014 v 18.1.1 on a MacBook Pro.
When I go to File info..., the window doesn't open. At least I'm not able to see it. The menus are all grayed out, I can't use the document, as if it's frozen. When I hit the return key, everything is fine. It's as if I clicked on the OK button on the invisible window.
I reduced the size of the document window, moved my dock to another part of the screen, minimized all the pallets, so it doesn't appear that it's hiding in the hinterlands of the screen. It's very odd, I had edited metadata before on that window and would like to continue doing so.
    Thanks!
    KTG

Before I reinstalled on Friday I tried fiddling with the application frame and the windows, to no avail. I worked today on the MBP without the BenQ monitor and, this evening, the file info panel remained visible when I booted AI after reconnecting the BenQ. I did notice that when I first opened file info on the MBP this morning the panel was minimised and placed towards the top left of the window, even though yesterday on the BenQ it was expanded and in the centre of the window.

  • Installing Metadata Integrator alone??

    Hi,
I want to know if it is possible to install Metadata Integrator in a Windows machine alone if my Data Services XI 3.2 and Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP2 are install in other server on Unix Platform. My question is because Metadata Integrator can´t be install on Unix Platform and I need to make some Lineage and Impact analysis between these systems. If not, the only workaround that I have is to install Business Objects Metadata Management (this product can be install on Unix)in the same server to do this analysis???

This is the point I don't understand. How do you know you
    have no
interest in them if you have never tried them? If Dreamweaver
    had
integrated the ability to preview sites on mobile devices as
    a core part
of the program, I imagine that many people would have said
    "how cool".
Because Device Central is shared with Photoshop, Illustrator,
    and Flash,
    the reaction is "not interested".

There's no argument that the installer should let you pick
    and choose.

I have no idea what Adobe's plans are, but I would be very
    surprised if
the policy is changed before the release of the next version.
    As for
there being little difference between DW8 and CS3, I don't
    agree. The
improvements in CSS rendering and CSS management are far from
insignificant. If you use client-side validation, the Spry
    validation
    widgets are stunning.

  • Metadata Management and CMS

    Hello
I have installed BO XIR 3.1 sp3 and Metadata Mangement on a window 2008 sp2 platform. Everything was going well. After a server problem I had to redeploy the Metadata Manager and BOMM  apps on tom Cat (5.5).
After the redeployment of the two apps, the BOMM console worked well but it's impossible to view Metadata Management in the cms. Here's the message that I get:
    http 404 and :
    MetadataManagement/jsp/Integrator_List/list.faces
When I try to configure the repository via the application options of the cms here's what I get:
    http 404 :
    Management/jsp/Repository_Properties/properties.faces
Do I have to redeploy? refresh a property file ? copy a war file?
    Thanks

    Hi Harpreet,
    Thanks for the reply!
    The current architecture is:
PeopleSoft -> SAP ECC -> SAP BI -> BOE -> WebI
We are trying to perform mappings from field names on reports in WebI back to their SAP BI technical name / description, and even into ECC if possible. I was able to run Metadata Integrator in DS to collect lineage information from the BOE server, but this doesn't give me anything further back than BOE. I assumed that I would need to add the remaining steps manually, yet it sounds like you have a better idea.
How can we go about doing this? Are you saying that if I use:
SAP ECC -> DS -> SAP BI -> BOE -> WebI
Then it will show my lineage from WebI all the way to ECC automatically? Do you have any examples of this? If that is the case, then I would like to test it out.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Font size in the folder window and feet thumbnails Adobe Bridge

I've been trying to figure out how to increase font size in the Folder window and foot Brige thumbnails, but can not find it anywhere.
I do not mean the font size in the window metadata. In that window I know how.
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it very much, as I have vision problems and the size of the letter have to much strain to read.
Thank you very much in advance.
    Regards

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
I imagined that this is not possible ..... I´ve given it a lot of thought before asking .....
As is the case with the brightness of the background area around the picture window in ACR (trim panels column and area around the image window), whose brightness dazzles enough to incorrectly assess the brightness of dark parts  image and can not be changed  (as can be done, however, in Bridge and Ps, even in the background of the image window's own ACR 8.4), this two questions should be posed to developers group Creative Cloud, as suggestions for future improvements that could be implemented .... But I have no idea how to do that .....
Again, thank you very much for your feedback.

  • BusinessObjects Metadata Management installation

I need to install BOMM on the linux platform. Is it required to install a component called 'metadata integrator' besides installing BOMM on the linux server? Is 'metadata integrator' supported on Windows only? If so, it means I need to have two servers to run BOMM (Linux + Windows), is it right?
    Thanks

you can install only MM Repository component and Web Tier on any Unix env
Integrators are supported only on windows env, yes you will need a windows server/machine also for MM

  • Audition not saving Metadata correctly

I'm seeing two problems with how Audition CS6 (version 5) saves metadata:
    Problem 1:
After saving a file as a WAV file when you view that file in Windows Explorer many of the metadata tags have the last character truncated.  The only way that I have found to solve the problem is to add a trailing space on each fields entry.  In fact if you change the Recording Date to say "2012" the date won't show up at all in Windows Explorer, but if you save it as "2012 " it shows correctly.
    Problem 2:
If I open a WAV file to save it back out as an MP3 - it doesn't matter if I do a batch process or one file it is the same - all the metadata is lost (YES, I have the "Include markers and other metadata" box checked).  I follow these steps.. Open the Wav file>Click "Save as">set Format Settings to MP3>check the include markers>click OK.  At this point if you look at the resulting mp3 file in windows explorer you will see that no metadata is present, but if you still have the file open in Audition it appears that all of the metadata is there - you can even try changing a value and saving again, but Windows explorer still shows no data.  If you completely close the file in Audition and then reopen the mp3 file in audition, you will see that there is NO metadata there either.  At this point you can then repopulate the data in audition and save the file and then it will show the metadata when viewed with Windows Explorer.    VERY Annoying!!
Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug in Audition... It sure looks like a bug to me!!

Okay, well I just checked this out in Windows 7, 64bit. If there were going to be problems, this is where I'd expect them to be - and there simply aren't any - it works absolutely fine. If you don't put the metadata in a fields absolutely correctly, you get a ! at the end of the line, and all bets are off at that stage. And in the date format, that puts the year in first, then the month and then the date (yyyy-mm-dd). So if you try to put too many figures at the end, then yes I'd expect them to get truncated. But everything I put in my test file showed up fine, and correctly, in Windows Explorer.

I checked this one out too, and once again didn't get the result you did. I saved a load of ID3 tag information in the same file that I used above, and saved two versions of it - one as a wav, and one as an MP3. Both saved the metadata correctly. Then I re-opened the wav file and resaved it again as another MP3, this time with a different file name - didn't touch the metadata at all. When I checked the new MP3, all the metadata was there, just as it was previously.
So I don't know what you are doing (or which OS you are using either, come to that), but here it works fine. The previous complaint about MP3 related to indicated time with VBR saves, incidentally - not metadata at all.

    Hello,
seems for me that the Promotion from the new DC didn't went well. In your case remove the new machine from the domain, disconnect and use dcpromo /forceremoval and run metadata cleanup on the Windows server 2012 DC.
    http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/archive/2010/05/16/active-directory-metadata-cleanup.aspx
Tthen assure that you use ONLY the existing DC/DNS server on the NIC from the new machine, NONE else, even not if this machine should become DNS server role, and run dcpromo again to join it to the exiting domain.
So the schema was upgraded to version 69 as Windows server 2012R2 requires this?

Take a look at this Windows Add-in:

As regards Viewing Metadata in Windows Media Player, I have no idea; I do not use Windows Media Player and have no idea why you would use it for viewing photographs; Why not use something such as Faststone Image Viewer or IrfanView.
