Hello All,
I read Metalink Doc. ID 359145.1 (Daylight Savings changes on the Oracle databases) which talks about 2 types of patches, which are as follows.
Oracle JVM Patch
If Oracle JVM is not installed in the database, there is no need to apply this patch but question is what if we want to install JVM at a later time.
Time zone file patch.
My question is if we don't have any columns in the database of type TSTZ or TSLTZ but have some of type TIMESTAMP, is there any need to apply the patch.

Why not just run the utltzuv2.sql as suggested by the metalink doc to be sure. If this is a production database I won't not take chances.
And the doc also mentioned, some 10g data dictionary tables may use timezone awareness data type.

I was wondering if we can post part of metalink doc on the forums ??? As someone told me when i post part of the metalink doc saying i should not post metalink doc...and should only give out the metalink doc ID....altought i did give the doc id and posted part of the info ....is it okay to do that or not ?? i wanted to ask you guys ? please advise..

Under UK copyright law there is a "fair dealing" section which allows copying of material to certain extents depending on the type of media i.e. Books, Journals, Music Scores etc. and depending on the purpose of copying. For things that aren't explicitly covered in the copyright and patents act, it can be generally deduced from what is covered. So for copying stuff e.g. from metalink it may come under the books/written works details which allows for 1 chapeter or 5% of the whole (whichever is the greater), for research or study purposes. Saying that however, each case would have to be legally reviewed.
More importantly, Oracle's material comes under US law, so that's what would have to be looked at and referred to.
I can understand Oracle not wanting metalink support info publicly published as it is information that is pertinent to paying support customers. Making it public could lead to loss of revenue for Oracle.

If I send the PDF file that has been automatically converted to a PSE-10 the person I send the file to can not open it because they do not have PSE-10. What can I do to stop PSE-10 from converting my PDF files? Don't tell me to upgrade PSE-10 I tried their on-line program and it is too advance for a hobby photographer like myself and their Help Desk is impossible to reach.

Posting Date: Date which is used when entering the document in Financial Accounting or Controlling. The posting date can differ from both the entry date and the doc date.
Document Date: The document date is the date on which the original document was issued. Ex: Inv date, Bill date etc.,
Invoice Date : Usually the date when goods are shipped. Payment dates are set relative to the invoice date.

According to your description, my understanding is that you could not edit documents with Office client application in SharePoint 2010.
Let’s do a troubleshooting about this issue:
1. Make sure that you have installed Office application on your machine.
2. Which explorer did you use for your SharePoint. Please test it with IE 10 32-bit, compare the result.
3. Please try to reset IE, compare the result.
4. Add your SharePoint site into Trusted site on your IE options.
5. Make sure all add-ons related to SharePoint are enable, special for SharePoint OpenDocument Class and SharePointOpenXMLDocuments.
6. Since you used OWA for your SharePoint site, please try to disable OWA, then open documents with client application, compare the result.

Can I mix docs from document feeder and scanner glass into one PDF?

When working with the HP Scanner software, prior to Windows 8, I was able to MIX the source of my documents, meaning I could put all the standard size docs on the document feeder, scan them, and then ADD non-standard sized documents, one at a time, to the same PDF from the scanner glass. The Windows 8 Scan and Capture software seems to make me pick one or the other. It was SO convenient, when doing my expense reports, to be able to scan 15 pages or so using the ADF, then use the glass for all of my receipts that were small or damaged. Am I missing something, or is the Win8 software more limited? Thanks for any help you might provide!!

Timestamp and hibernate

Hi,
I'm trying to migrate my postgresql database to oracle express 10 on rhel 5. All seems ok. My application use tomcat and hibernate to access database. I have a problem between java timestamp and oracle timestamp.
When I set hibernate in verbose mode, I can see the sql string generated. Here is an exemple:
SQL> select * from etat_materiel where date_<='2008-06-19 11:17:55.433'; select * from etat_materiel where date_<='2008-06-19 11:17:55.433' * ERROR at line 1: ORA-01843: not a valid month
Apparently it's not the good format for sql timestamp, but I can't find where in hibernate I can specify another way of creating this sql string.
Does anybody have been confronted to the same problem ?

I have the same problem. It seems that the 'encoding' for the timestamp type is various and is defined as a system/database-wide property named NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT. You can check for it here:
select * from sys.prop$ where 1=1;
what I have found out as well is that you can change the value of this property using ALTER SESSION:
alter session set NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT = 'RRR-MM-DD HH:MI:SS.FF'
(this reflects your query string).
There is a way to use your SQL query string using TO_TIMESTAMP function:
SQL> select * from etat_materiel where date_<='2008-06-19 11:17:55.433';
select * from etat_materiel where date_<=to_timestamp('2008-06-19 11:17:55.433', 'RRRR-MM-DD HH:MI:SS.FF');
This should work for you.
My problem is somewhat different - I am using Hibernate Query Language (HQL) to get my Java objects from the database. I'm hitting the wall like you do because when I use similarly formatted 'WHERE' clause, HQL translates it directly to SQL. I am not sure if HQL will accept native Oracle SQL function 'TO_TIMESTAMP' - probably not... so I'm not clear what to do. It would be nice to be able to include the NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT somewhere at the beginning of the hibernate session...

Hit command tab and swtich to the Finder, under the Apple menu is Force Quit, do that to the program that is causing your "hang" and restart the program and what you were doing.
If you didn't save your file beforehand, then your going to have to make it again.

Can I config syslogd to not put in timestamp and host info

I am running Solaris 8 and is using the syslogd that comes with it. We are developing an application that is going to send messages to syslog using facility local1 to have our messages written out to a separate log file. Our application messages are in XML format which will be viewed by some xml tool.
The issue is that syslogd is putting in timestamp and hostname info into the log file automatically and the xml tool is not able to handle that. Is there a way to configure syslogd to put in just the log message and not the timestamp/hostname info?

i think there is no way to do this with syslogd.
but maybe you can try other log daemons like syslog-ng.

"Timestamp" and Display Type "dateTimeFiled" and bindings in JHS

Problem:
In the app def I have field called "Create Date" of type "Timestamp" and Display Type "dateTimeFiled". If I set "Prompt in Form Layout" or "Prompt in the Table Layout" #{bindings.$BINDING_NAME$.label} and set "Query Operation" to "between" to generate two field "Create Date From" and "Create Date To" I have negative result. In case if I set "Label Text" in "Control Hints" in the "Entity Object Editor" to "Create Date" I get on the screen two "Create Date" and not "Create Date From" and "Create Date To". In case where I remove this label I get two "CreateDate". This work in one case only, if I set "Prompt in Form Layout" or "Prompt in the Table Layout" to "Create Date", then I have "Create Date From" and "Create Date To" on the screen.
So the question is:
Is there any way to use #{bindings.$BINDING_NAME$.label} and still generate "Create Date From" and "Create Date To" on the screen, or it's JHS BUG.
Any help appreciated.

No, this is not supported. You need to specify the prompt in the application definition editor, you cannot use ADF BC hints in this case.
