How can I view previous soft-closed service requests on Metalink?

Hi,
I'm trying to find a previous service request that I lodged on Metalink that has been closed normally (soft-closed), however all I can find are currently open ones, and hard-closed ones (if I tick a box). How can I use Metalink to view these previous service requests?

I believe they automatically get hard-closed after a period of time (default 14 days unless you ask for more)? How old are the soft-closed ones? See metalink note: 166650.1 Working Effectively With Support

Questions on Metalink note 392673.1 (bug 5458753)

I have a few questions on Metalink note 392673.1. This note states that if two schema have objects with similar names and these two schema issue identical statements, it is possible that the statement will run against the wrong schema's object if "a cursor gets reloaded in a certain manner".
Does anyone know any more details? What manner of reloading? Will synonyms prevent the problem? Is there a test case?
Also, the note states that it applies to versions 10.1.0.2 to 10.2.0.3, while the bug claims that it is fixed in 10.2.0.3. Is 10.2.0.3 affected or not?

It seems that bug is solved in 10.2.0.3 patchset, and interim patch for 10.2.0.2.
Anyway, if you have any question on metalink note, you might have more chance to get a valid answer by asking it into metalink forum, or send an email to the author of the note.

Creating a Service Request in metalink

When creating a service request what product do I choose for ODSI? I see no form of ODSI listed, or DPS (although apparently there used to be one). Should I just choose Oracle Data Integrator or Oracle Web Logic? If it helps, I'm using the "new" version of Metalink, not the classic view.

Do you know if this is only available in the classic view of metalink? Perhaps it has something to do with what's supported under our contract or something? I know I sound like an idiot but it's really not available on my list.

How to view all the metalink notes in a single window?

now i am searching the metalink notes by entering the artical id...is there any way to get all the documents in one shot ...
like how we are seeing the forum threads here...

Have you any idea how much information, knowledge, bug-reports, questions, patch-lists, documentation etc..etc. is on Metalink?
That would give you a list of millions of rows. And how do you want them sorted, by version, by OS, by what??

How do I search for a SR in metalink

I went to metalink and clicked "service request" link. in the dropdown, I selected "SR number" and enter a number to search, I'm not able to get anything retured after searching. actully, no matter waht I entered, I was never be able to search anything from SR.
Is there any step I missed or any configuration?

I believe you need to enter your SR number in the portlet titled "Service Requests", next to the field with the magnifying glass icon, then click the magnifying glass icon.

Error - While Updating Metalink Credentials for Patch Wizard in R12

Error coming while doing : Update Metalink Credentials for Patch Wizard
"Unable to connect to Metalink. Please enter a valid Metalink userid and password. Please also check if the Web Proxy Setup information is correct."
We are not using Proxy Server. When i try to login to Support.oracle.com using same user it works. But throwing error using Patch Wizard. Can anyone tell me that why this error is coming ??

Regarding Backup as it is Application Level patch, is it fine if i take Backup of $ORACLE_HOME for Application Tier ?You will have to take a full backup (which means all the application/database tier files -- i.e. all the directories after you shutdown all the services cleanly).
1. After that I need to 'Enable Maintenance Mode' using adadmin utility
applmgr>$adadmin
2. Source Env file for Application Tier
applmgr>$ . SID_hostname.endYou mean env file.
3. Stop all Application Services
applmgr>$ . adstpall.sh
4. Copy patch to Directory
5. Unzip
6. applmgr>$ cd /u01/patch/10629956
7. After that apply patch using adpatch utility
applmgr>$ adpatch
8. Disable Maintenance Mode
9. Start Application Tier Services
10. Retest Correct.
Can I follow these steps ? Yes.
By default value of parameter "apply" is "y" so does it apply patch intest mode? I nned to specify it to "n" or should i test it first as i m doing this first time. You do not need to test it if you take a backup, and this is a small patch so you should be OK :)
If in case anything goes wrong can I restore my Application Services back using old Oracle_Home backup ?Yes.
Note: Please edit the post before the previous one as it contains the contents of MOS document and this violates Oracle support agreement policy.

I need the patch #2376472 from Metalink - Can anyone tell me how 2 get it

Please note I have a CSI # which I was told has expired. I need to obtain this patch and am disparately trying to obtain it with little success thus far
You would think Oracle would let third party support people download and distribute as is such a patch but Oracle does not allow such distribution.
Can anyone one advise me on the best means to obtain this patch - Getting a cheap metalink account would probably be my best bet but Oracle makes getting such an account very hard to do. You would think this would not be such a huge problem but it is !

I believe in general the cheapest Metalink access is to purchase a copy of Personal Oracle with a support contract.
From a legal standpoint, though, I would tend to question why you are downloading a patch for a product whose support contract has expired. If you have a product that needs patching and an expired CSI, that would imply to me that you purchased a product and an initial support contract, then let the support contract expire. If that's the case, you'd no longer be eligible for patch updates. You'd need to talk to your Oracle Sales rep to figure out how to bring the support agreement current.

11.1.0.7: got ORA-07445 [qesmaGetTblSeg_INT()] errors; no help in MetaLink

A string of ORA-07445 [qesmaGetTblSeg_INT()] and [qesmaGetIdxSeg_INT()] errors were raised in DB 11.1.0.7 Enterprise Edition (64-bit) on Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 Edition, SP2. A check of MetaLink and other search engines turned up no related references. These errors appeared in trace when the database became unresponsive, and again, briefly, about 5-10 minutes after I shut down the database and restarted the server. Would someone kindly suggest a source of useful information about these errors and possible corrective action(s)?

I may yet create an SR, but for now I am seeking information elsewhere. The system is in production. It is functioning normally at this time.

The link to portal patches(in Metalink) does not appear to be working

does not seem to be working. When clicking on the links, I get that I am not allowed access even though my licenses say I am.
Also, if I enter Metalink and enter that bug number, it is not found.
What's up with that?

Don't know since when. But the last weekend I applied a bunch of SharePoint Updates and the problem seems solved now. Unfortunately I can't say exactly which update it was.
The similar problem which we had with the blog mail alerts when clicking on the "view" link, could be solve by
this workaround.

SR detail in metalink (HTML) view not displayed correctly in chrome browser

Hi,
I am using a chrome browser (version 21.0.xx). I can login fine to Oracle metalink site. However it has trouble displaying SR details in the page. There is no text in the SR conversation panel. Perhaps it is easier if you can use chrome and login to metalink to check for SR and you will see what I mean.

Till today morning i was able to open Forums in metalink and was able to post ,can read .But suddenly today afternoon onwards i am getting below error when clicking on any discussion in the Community.

Problem signing in Metalink

I have a metalink account and want to sign in to it, but the sign in page keep appear after I press of "Sign In" button. Is there anyone can tell me how to solve this problem?

Obtain DST patch for 10.2.0.1.0 on Windows from other than MetaLink?

Does anybody know whether it's possible to get patches from anywhere other than MetaLink?
I downloaded and installed Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows from OTN, but I had one hell of a time getting the Enterprise Manager to connect properly because of that DST problem that everyone's been complaining about.
I read in one post that there was a DST patch. However, I don't have a support contract, so no Support Identifier to register for MetaLink. Is there anywhere else to obtain this DST patch?
I did manage eventually to get Enterprise Manager to connect and work properly by changing my Windows DST setting and 'hitting' EM until it just happened to work. But I have to go through that same ridiculous procedure every time I restart my machine, so I was hoping to get a patch.

It is not possible to do so legally.
Buy the support agreement. There is a lot of value beyond the patches. Doing so will give you access to the Knowledge Base, Service Requests, and much more.

Metalink Flash VS Classic Meta link

Did oracle will keep both Metalink Flash and Metalink Classic? I heard that soon they are going to take off Metalink Classic and everybody should use Metalink Flash.
Please let me know when is the last date for Metalink Classic so that we will plan to our team to start get use of Metalink Flash.

It does not say when.
It only applies to versions 0.0 to 0.0.0.
We need to keep screaming "don't flash on me!"
or
"flash roofs, not metalink."

Using metalink cache of an other oracle server?

Hi,
I have two 11g RAC clusters: one can be connected to the internet, the other one not. I like to use Enterprise Manager to download and apply patches.
The cluster with internet connection can download patches and store them locally. But what about the second cluster? Can I point the second cluster to the metalink cache of the first cluster, so that I don't have to download all the patches manually?

Sounds good. :-) Sounds like I'm looking at the problem from the wrong side: the patches are pushed to the second cluster, not pulled from the first cluster?
Can you point me to the part of the 11g documentation that describes the process? So far I could not find anything about that (besides low level information how to patch on the command line).
