Method call overheads, how much do they cost speedwise?

Hi all,
how much of an overhead in terms of speed and effciency (in terms of cpu time) is it to call a method from the same class to do something as opposed to defining what you have to do again in your other method...basically which is better and/or faster out of the following two examples
example 1
public final float x()
return x;
public final float y()
return y;
public final float z()
return z;
public float magnitude()
return (float)Math.sqrt(x() * x() + y() * y() + z() * z());
public void div(float f)
setXYZ(x() / f, y() / f, z() / f);
public void normalize()
float f = magnitude();
div(f);
example 2
public void normalize()
float f = Math.sqrt(x() * x() + y() * y() + z() * z());
this.x = x()/f;
this.y = y()/f;
this.z = z()/f;
// or will this be faster and work?
// x = x/f;
// y = y/f;
// z = z/f;
how much of a saving will i get by using the second example (i know the first example is better OOP). Any help would be appreciated.
