MGCP Gateways and Cisco Fax

We are considering adding a fax solution to our IPT infrastructure using Cisco Fax (Captaris RightFax). Ideally we would like the same voice gateways to terminate the fax calls (internal voice calls use QSIG and external calls use Q.931). Can this be achieved with MGCP-controlled Voice gateways? Can T.38 fax be configured with an MGCP gateway. I have seen examples where H.323 dial-peers are required to talk SIP to the Fax Server.
If not, is an alternative to use a back-to-back PRI connection between a voice gateway port and the Fax Server ISDN card, with appropriate route patterns in CallManager to route the fax calls to Fax Server, using Cisco Fax Relay?

with cm 4.2.3 there is mgcp t.38 support implemented.

    Hi!
Please check the following link, specially Pg. 9 "ISDN/MGCP Cisco Fax Relay Mode" . You'll see the deployment models of the Cisco Fax server: IP T.38 Fax Relay, ISDN E1/T1 Direct Connection and ISDN/MGCP Cisco Fax Relay Mode:

  • Cisco Call Manager 5.1 and Cisco VoIP Gateways

    Hi,
I have Cisco Call Manager 5.1 with Cisco 2800 series routers as a ISDN gateways and Cisco VG224/ATA 186 as POTS gateways. While Cisco Call Manager collects call statistics from 7900 series SCCP handsets managed by the Call Manager (number of VoIP packets, dropped frames etc.), it shows only one side of the call as it does not collect statistics from the Cisco routers (configured as H.323 gateways), the Cisco VG224 (with ports configured as H.323 gateways and as a SCCP devices) and Cisco ATA 186 (configured for SCCP).
Is the collection of these statistics possible? What needs to be done?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Update: Logging of QoS/Call Management Records (CMR) to Call Manager CDR database is not possible with H.323 gateways; only MGCP gateways:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_qanda_item09186a008020650a.shtml#qa4
Anyone know how to get the Cisco router gateway to log these statistics anyway using standard router logging mechanisms (e.g. syslog)?
Anyone know about calls to SCCP ports on Cisco VG224 or ATA 186?
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • FAX Detection Application for a MGCP Gateway

    Hi,
I have an MGCP Gateway and a Right Fax Solution along with CUCM. Was wondering if FAX detection application can be configured for this setup or is FAX detection only for H323 gateways.
    Thanks
    Prakash

It uses TCL script, so it is not available with MGCP.

  • SRST with T1 CAS MGCP Gateway

Hello - we are trying to configure SRST on our T1 CAS MGCP gateway. We have been informed by a Cisco engineer that we cannot use SRST on a T1 CAS MGCP gateway and that the gateway must first be reconfigured as an H.323 gateway in order to implement SRST. Router is version 12.2(15)T14 and CCM 4.1 Any comments would be truly appreciated...thank you.

SRST doesn't support MGCP but does support MGCP to H.323 failback. You can still configure your router/CCM with MGCP then use the fallback commands for MGCP.
Looking at the SRST 4.0 system guide, page 42, T1 CAS is supported. With your version of IOS you would be running SRST 2.1, this is also supported.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122newft/122t/122t15/srst21/srstv21.pdf
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/srst/srst40/srst40ad/s40sa.pdf
The ccm-manager fallback-mgcp command was added in IOS 12.2(11)T so it should be in your version. This is what you would need to do MGCP fallback to your H323 along with the call application alternate default.
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios123/123tcr/123tvr/vrht_c4.htm#wp1061367
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios123/123tcr/123tvr/vrht_c1.htm#wp1670149
I would say it might be possible as I don't see anything saying no. Though remember MGCP fallback to H323 over SRST doesn't have call preservation.
Lastly here is a document on the SRST MGCP/H323 fallback.

You, also, have the dreaded and EVEEL MacKeeper installed. Git rid of eeeet!!!
Here is the way to properly uninstall MacKeeper.
    http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/
Here is some more pertinent info about MacKeeper and its ilk.
Apps like MacKeeper or any other maintenance apps like CleanMyMac 1 or 2, TuneUpMyMac, MacCleanse or anything like these apps, installed on your Mac, while they appear to be helpful, can do too good a job of data "cleanup" causing the potential to do serious data corruption or data deletion and render a perfectly running OS completely dead and useless leaving you with a frozen, non-functional Mac.
Plus, these type of apps aren't really necessary OR needed. They really aren't.
There are manual methods to clear off unnecessary data off of your Mac that are safer and you have complete control over your Mac and not just leave a piece of auto cleaning software in charge of clearing off data off of your Mac. Their potential of causing OS X issues outweighs the implied good and benefits these types of hard drive or memory "cleaning" apps are written to do.
These types of  system 'cleaning" apps are very poorly written and are really a scam to rob newbie and novice Mac users of their hard earned cash for a poorly written maintenance program that will do much more harm to a perfectly normal running OS X system than the good that the app developers purport these types of apps will do.
Plus, the software companies that write these apps make it hard to easily uninstall these apps if something DOES go wrong and these apps work in a way where you have no recovery or revert function to return your Mac back to its former, working state in the event something does go wrong.
It is best to never, EVER download and install these types of apps.
The risk to your system and important data is too great a risk!

  • I want to integrate SMS gateway to Cisco ISE 1.2 and my question is SMS notifications are supported for Guest self−registration

I want to integrate SMS gateway to Cisco ISE 1.2 and my question is
SMS notifications are supported for Guest self−registration Services ? or it should be done by Sponsor

I'm not sure I understand the question.  Do you want to log in to the Sponsor Portal using AD credentials?
Create an Identity Source Sequence using AD as an Authentication Source.  Go to Administration > Identity Management > Identity Source Sequences.  Either Edit or +Add a Sequence and choose from the Authentication Sources shown.
Then choose that Identity Source Sequence by going to Administration > Web Portal Management > Settings.  Double-click Sponsor from the Left Menu and click Authentication Source.  Choose the Identity Source Sequence.  Click Save.
    I hope this helps.

  • CUCM 9 & AS5850, Using MGCP Gateways not found in "Gateway Type" list...

I have an application where I need to control a large, AS5850 gateway using MGCP.  CUCM version is 9.1, soon to be 10.0.  The gateway is populated with CT3 cards.
We have confirmed that the AS5850 does in fact support MGCP, however it is not listed as an option in the list of gateway product choices when adding a new gateway in CUCM.  So my first question:
    1) How do you add an MGCP gateway in CUCM when it is not listed in the "gateway type" drop-down list?  It seems there must be a way to do this.  Other well known gateways such as the AS5300, AS5400 etc.. are also notably absent from the list of gateway choices.  Perhaps there is a template that can be edited?
If anyone has experience utilizing an AS5850 gateway with CUCM & MGCP, it would be very useful to see sample configuration programming from your gateway.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
As per the datasheet, the Cisco AS5850 Universal Gateway supports H.323,  SIP, and MGCP call-control protocols with extensive SNMP management and  debugging capabilities. It works with the Cisco PGW 2200 Softswitch,  the Cisco BTS 10200 Softswitch, and many partner softswitches as well.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iad/ps509/ps512/product_data_sheet09186a008007cc48.html
It looks like that its not supported with CUCM.

  • CVP: using the Gatekeeper and the SIP Proxy, why? VXML gateway and the ingress gateway communication?

    Hi All;
I am actually keep asking with my self, why to use gatekeeper or SIP proxy when deploying the CVP solution, why not to use the Call Manager? Is it because that the concept built on SIP and H323 so call manager can not handle these kind of operations as call manager is supporting MGCP?
From the other side, what kind of trunk or protocol of communication method is used between the ingress gateway and the VXML browser?
    Any advise?
    Regards
    Bilal

The main reason is not all who deployed ISN/CVP in the past use Call Manager as the PBX.
CVP is a powerful solution that covers many deployment scenarios. Its ability to integrate with legacy switches has been very important in the past, and although as we move forward, these types of deployments will probably become fewer, the independence of CVP on Call Manager remains a cornerstone of the design.
I'm glad it was built that way. Look at some of the other deployment models (like Call Director) in the CVP Guide.
It's not because Call Manager supports MGCP - you don't need to have any MGCP gateways in your Call Manager deployment. You could have all H.323 gateways and manage the dial plan on the gateways with a gatekeeper. Or use SIP.
The ingress gateway does not talk to the VXML server - the VXML gateway does.
In a branch office design, these are one and the same; but that's not the fundamental architecture. The IOS on the VXML gateway runs a voice browser (I guess you could call this a VXML browser). It uses HTTP to send and receive information (VXML documents) from the VXML server - whether this be the CVP Call Server or an external VXML server (like what was brought in-house with the Audium acqusition - the Cisco CVP VXML Server).

  • Cannot register MGCP gateway to CCM 4.1

    Hello,
I am running an application which simulates a MGCP gateway vs. a real CCM 4.1. I am not able to register the endpoints as you can see from the snapshot attached. I guess the problems lies in the 200 response to the following AUEP:
    AUEP 89 AALN/S0/SU0/[email protected] MGCP 0.1
    F: X+SRTP/A
    200 89 OK
    X: 2
    L: p:20, a:PCMU, b:64, e:ON, s:ON
I have also attached the trace file and CCM logs.
I have 2 questions on this matter:
what is the correct format of the 200 message which needs to be sent to AUEP with SRTP?
how can I configure CCM not to sent this AUEP with SRTP(I have a similar one in my setup which is not sending this AUEP)?
Thanks in advanced for you support,

  • Integration of Cisco Fax Server with CUCM

Need some help with regards to the setup of Cisco Fax Server. I have Cisco Fax Server 9.4 Enterprise Suite which will be installed on Cisco 7816 server. Now my concern is with the integration of Fax server with CUCM. I have CUCM Ver 7. Could anyone tell me what configuration is required on CUCM and I believe we need to have dial-peer on the Voice gateway as well pointing to the Fax server. If anyone has deployed then please let me know the configuration on CUCM & the voice gateway.

    Hi..
Thank u so much guys. I was mostly looking out for the integration of Fax server with CUCM, so i think this document should help. I has this document with me but had few doubts. Hopefully it should be cleared now. I will be doing the implementation later next week so i will keep you updated. Anyway thank u so much once again.
    Regards,
    Joy
