MGM-HD Channel 744 sound no pic

I have Verizon Fios here in Garland, Texas. Recently, I wanted to watch some shows on the MGM-HD channel, which is part of my TV plan. I get sound real good, but only see a blank screen. Have not found this problem on the other channels. Does anyone know what the problem is ???????

2-channel audio sounds hissy and low; Each channel by itself sounds good... what?

Hello everyone. I have been having a problem with the quality of my captured audio for a while now. I am not an audio guru at all, so it is hard for me to even explain. So, please bear with me:
My issue is that I import my footage into FCP 7 as HDV 1080i60 with both audio channels active and linked together as a stereo mix. As I play the video in the timeline, the audio has a hiss in the background, and the persons voice that I interviewed sounds like he was "holding his nose shut"(for lack of a better word) while talking throughout the entire interview. If I delete one of the channels, it sounds great... but it is now mono, and it doesn't have the full quality that my lavalier (stereo) microphone supports.

Now, both channels sound great by themselves, but when joined together create the hissing and high pitched sound I mentioned earlier. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Thank you for the support!!

When you start editing, either only add one to the timeline, and make it mono...or add both and make them mono. Typically when I deal with talking heads, I will use only one channel. Unless I have a wireless mic on one, and a boom on the other...I'll add both, but mute one (the one that sounds worse)...but have both just in case some sound affects the main audio, then I switch to the other.

How to output 5.1 Channel Surround Sound from you Mac...

I have been using my MacBook Pro via HDMI into my pioneer av amp which is set up for 5.1.
I have been able to output 5.1 audio with Logic Pro and FCPX no issues at all after you setup the audio midi utility for 5.1. This setup is via PCM 5.1 audio not to be confused with Dolby 5.1.
It works great. If you want to play your edited exported movies from Final Cut Pro x in surround then it gets a bit tricky. I export the movie with FCPX as master video with the 5.1 audio then use HandBreak set to atv3 to encode / compress the video. This is great because handbreak folds the 5.1 into a stereo AAC track and also encodes the 5.1 mix into Dolby 5.1 AC3 track so both stereo and surround tracks are embedded in the movie file. So if you have an Apple TV it will play the movie with its surround track. If you play the same HandBreak compressed movie out of your Mac via hdmi to your surround amp it will only play the stereo track if you are using iTunes or QuickTime and I believe this is because of copy protect and Dolby license issues. iTunes will play a purchased movie from the itunes store in surround via your Macs hdmi to receiver setup but will only play the stereo track of the movie you exported from HandBreak even though it is set up just like an iTunes movie. To get your HandBreak movie to play in Dolby surround from your Mac all you need is VLC player, then you have to go in and select the Dolby track and the output in VLCs audio settings and bingo your HandBreaked movie then plays out of your Mac in Dolby surround. Once you set your Mac up for 5.1 mixing your amp will show your outputting 5.1 via the mac but again this is PCM audio 5.1 and apps like FCPX, Soundtrack Pro, Logic Pro will work.

Sequence only has one channel of sound

I have a few sequences that I have added to a master sequence and only have one channel of sound in the master sequence.
In the actual sequence of each sequence that was added I have 2 channels of sound.
What would correct this issue?
Or does cut and paste everything in each sequence into my master sequence work better?

re: cloned system drives. Updating does not create a clone automatically. It is something you have to do. In the interest of locking the barn door after the paddle has been lost upstream - get a firewire drive as large as your system drive. Download a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner (shareware) and when your system gets working again, Clone the working drive to the firewire drive. This is your insurance when you update the OS, QT and/or any of the FCS pro apps.
Once you have a clone, if your update goes wrong, you can copy the clone back over the bunged installation and be back up and running within an hour or so.
Regarding FCP 6.0.4, perhaps someone archived a version (or you can find it on the FCP updates page). If you use Software update, it will want to install the most recent version.

Why only one channel of sound in sequences? Please someone try this quest

When I add a sequence to a sequence, I have only one channel of sound but, when I open that sequence I have 2 channels of sound.
Is it a sequence setting and if it is I see:
outputs 2
downmix 0
grouping: Stereo selected
Dual mono not selected.
I swith these around a bit but get no change.
My raw footage say "2 Mono" from my Sony DSR PD-150 at 16 bit, 48 khz.
I usuall use one channel for camera sound and 2nd channel for mic.

the number of audio channels that your nested sequence will contain is the same as the number of audio outputs you have selected for that sequence ...
for example, if you create a sequence with 10 tracks of audio, but have only set the sequence to have 2 audio outputs, then when you nest that sequence the nest will have only 2 tracks of audio ... change the audio outputs to 4, or 6, or 8, or 10 etc regardless of how many tracks you actually use, and the sequence, when nested, will have the same number of audio tracks as the sequence has audio outputs
... ok, so that explains the relationship between audio outputs and the number of tracks of audio that a nested sequence contains
so why are you getting only one channel of sound when you edit it in to another sequence? my guess is that you are only patching 1 channel ... load the source sequence into the viewer (drag and drop), now check in the patch bay area at the left of the timeline window to make sure that your a1 to A1 and a2 to A2 connections are not broken ... and edit it in.

Audigy 4 (Non Pro) and center channel surround sound - from 2 channel aud

Hi all,?Is there a way to have voice coming from the center speaker during TV programs like you could using an external receiver with Pro Logic? I can't for the life of me, get my Audigy 4 to do this. I run MCE 2005 on a couple of machines in the house. On my other machine, with built in audio, I let the Purevideo decoder handle this and I get? a nice surround, complete with center channel voice on it while watching TV. On the machine with the Audigy 4, not only will it not give me the center channel while watching TV, but I can't get it to stop processing the sound so that I can simply use the decoding of the Purevideo Decoder... Stumped!?Thanks,?Stu

Capture Prob -- only capturing one channel of sound

I'm capturing hdv, as I always do, but for some reason I'm only getting one track Mono A1 of sound. When playing back or capturing, I am hearing both tracks, left and right, playing through my speakers.
But when I capture, I only get one track. I need the second track because I had two mikes and two separate channels coming through.
Any suggestions on what I can do? Can't figure why it's only capturing one side of audio... Thanks.

My MGM HD channel has disappeared

At one time I could watch MGM HD 745, it is no longer available. Message states "I am not suscribed"

If you are an Extreme HD package subscriber who signed up for that package before January 2010, MGM HD and a number of other channels have been removed from your package, and you will need to call Verizon for information on what package you need to get those channels.

MSI Delta-ISLR and Zalman 6 channel headphone - sound problem

OK guys, there's a problem that so far I haven't seen it posted here. I have a MSI Delta-ISLR motherboard with MCP-T and all, so a 5.1 sound card on board. Normally, it shoud provide 5.1 sound. I recently bought a Zalman 6 channel headphone, which in theory (they also specified that on their site and documentation) should have worked just fine with a 5.1 sound card PC. However, only front channels are working clearly, I get week response from rear speakers a BEEP from centre speaker (when testing with soundstorm) and in general I don't "feel" the spatial effect. I used all my knowledge, Zalman claims that the headphone has true 6 speakers built in, I set the jumpers accordingly and everything. Anyone can help me ? Besides, what those 5-6 and 9-10 jumpers do on JAUD1 ? I understood it connects the front speakers to be used with LINE-OUT socket. Question is: If this is the only front speaker output, why anyone should remove those jumpers ?! Is doesn't make any sense. Thanks.

Thanks for replying. Well, the headphones have 3 jacks, both stereo, so 6 wires in total. One plug for front channel, one plug for rear and one for center and subwofer. I tested all 3 indepndently and all work. Question is: Is there the possibility that the motherboard is deffect ? I used the S-Bracket and also pluged on the mic and line-in sockets and the result is the same. I bought those headphones because the Zalman company is well known to produce good products and I thought with those headphones I could experience spatial sound, even better than the loudspeakers due to close connection to ears. Losing sound on the right channel or sound level is extremely low

This started happening when I got my 5. speaker system ( Logitech Z-5500 ) sometimes I would lose all sound from the right channel ( both front and rear and sometimes including center ) and sometimes the volume is at an extremely low level even if the sound card output is at 00% now fixing this is either a reboot or a change of audio mode Game to Ent ( vice versa ) Is creative working on a permanent fix for this one ? Airport Express only outputs sounds through left channel

Recently purchased a new airport express.
Sound is only audible through the left channel. Sound through the right channel is barely audible even at max volume (speakers and iTunes).
Speakers are fine (they work fine through the stereo, iPod earphones also only work through left channel).
If I turn sound enhance on and up to high, I can finally hear through the right channel, but only at about 40-50% of the left.
Is this a software issue, or bad hardware?
I've hard reset the airport express multiple times. Same issue whether wirelessly or connected via ethernet. This is running from iTunes 7 for Windows using a Linksys router.

The reason why I thought it might be software related was due to this effect of changing the sound enhancer, i.e by turning the sound enhancer on and setting it to high there was a considerable increase in sound output. If there was a loose connection somewhere I don't think I'd expect this behavior. It's almost as if the balance has been set all the way to the right.
Given that no-one seems to have seen this problem before (other than a unresolved single old post on the Airport Express board), it does seem that you're right and the AX needs replacing.

Smithsonian Channel Sound Issue

I notice that on Smithsonian Channel HD sound fades from the normal volume to lower volume then back to normal . Anyone knows why its happening?

I haven't heard reports of this happening from others. Is this still happening? Is it happening on other channels as well? Is it every program on that channel or just a certain one? Please reply back if further assistance is required.

Rear Channel Sound Volume Controller for sound blaster Aud

Hi?Every body Wish you a wonderful new year 2008,?I am using creative sound blaster Audigy? sound card and the speaker system is creative inspire 5. I have the volume controller for front and center and subwooferbut i don`t have the controller for rear channel and the same time the rear channel is working with the low volume?not able to hear the sound from the rear channel but its working fine if i go near to the speaker i can hear the sound very lowi need to increase the sound for the rear channel?If any body know how to control the rear channel for sound blaster audigy could you let me know .... i want to add. some additional information, my 5. speaker doesn't have digital output, the line out for the sub woofer and centre are red and white line just like the same as the other speaker line, i don't know weather it will cause the front doesn't work or not, but i had read some post it said "In the Creative Mixer, be sure to disable the option for Digital Output Only, and set the number of speakers accordingly. For example, if you have a 5. channel speaker system, select 5.."
if, i didn't change the creative mixer to "disable the option for digital output", will it cause the centre and sub woofer have no sound at all? plesae reply A.S.A.P. as i don't know weather it is the problem of the sound card or just a problem of the setting.....thanks alot.

Sound Blaster Audigy 2NX: Right Channel Goes out Intermitten

In tears trying to figure this on out. My right channel goes out fairly regularly. For example, the sound will work great for a while and sound just awesome. I leave my desk overnight and when I come back, only the left channel produces sound. I?ve double checked all the balances (winamp, Creative, Windows) and they are all balanced. Besides, the right channel will come back on its on from time to time as well.
Before you all assume it'ss the speakers, I?ve tested this with a different pair of speakers and found the same. Also, if the channel is out, I can always get it to come back by switching to the primary laptop driver, playing a song for awhile and then switching back to the NX driver.
I?ve reinstalled the drivers (cleanly), updates the bios, downloaded DirectX and uploaded the firmware and drivers off of the Creative auto-update site. It seems something?s wrong with the drivers, but I can't figure what.

Has anyone else seen this problem or have any suggestions. Again, I?ve done a complete uninstall of the SB drivers and reinstall twice now.
I am running a pair of Cambridge Soundworks 2. speakers off of the external SB Audigy 2NX out of a Toshiba Tecra. I have a Pentium M 700 process or and 52 RAM.
