  • Windows 7-Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.5

    Hi friends;
    I want to share that great news which is posted Steven Chan (Oracle Development) :
    I'm very pleased to announce that Microsoft Windows 7 desktop clients are certified for the Oracle E-Business Suite. Both Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.5 are certified and supported on Windows 7 desktop clients.

    Hi,
    Apologize for the late reply and the misunderstanding about the ActiveX download location, we could change the location through the below registries:
    Use Registry Editor to change the "ActiveXCache" value to the location you want in the following registry key:
          HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
    Use Registry Editor to change the "0" value to the location you want in the following registry key:
          HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ActiveX Cache
       NOTE: The values you enter in steps 1 and 2 must match.
    More information, please check
    How to Change the Download Location for ActiveX Files (registries exists in IE11).
    Regarding the urls that download the cab files into user profile directory, would you mind to share the URL?
    And here is some information regarding inf files:
    About INF File Architecture
    We may check the value of DestDir, DestDir can be set to 10 to place the file into the \Windows directory or to 11 to place the file into the \Windows\System directory. If no value is specified, the file is placed into the \Cache directory.

    Microsoft adcenter ad titles appear in internet explorer but not in firefox in English
    Tried Microsoft help but so far unable to identify problem.
    Thought it might be connected to java but removal of java makes no difference
    Starting in safe mode resolves problem but about 500 add ons suspected

    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * If you have many extensions then you can first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
    Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

  • I imported all my favorites from Internet Explorer, but in the Firefox window I don't see a favorites tab. I've got a bunch of favorites that I don't want to have to redo. Any advice?

    Question
    I imported all my favorites from Internet Explorer, but in the Firefox window I don't see a favorites tab. I've got a bunch of favorites that I don't want to have to redo. Any advice?

    You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks).
    If you have problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.<br />
    That way you also preserve any sorting that you may have done in IE with the Favorites.
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
    See also:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Import_bookmarks ("Import from another browser" and "Import from file")

    I have been having so many problems with my Internet Explorer freezing up on me...I'm getting those annoying hour glass icons especially when I'm on facebook....

    Do not uninstall Internet Explorer if you install Firefox, it will still be needed for some sites such as Windows Update.

  • Why does my Web Handler work with Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox

    I am trying to develop a web page that uses the Simile Timeline (http://code.google.com/p/simile-widgets/wiki/Timeline) with data from SQL Server.
    In initial testing of my timeline I tested it with Example.xml, a static XML file in the correct format to be event data. I wrote the following in the appropriate place within mytimeline's Javascript: -
    var WebHandler = "Example.xml"
    tl.loadXML(WebHandler, function (xml, url) { eventSourceFamily.loadXML(xml, url) });
    This worked fine with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. I then changed the assignment to
    var WebHandler = "GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=" + getControlValue("input", "hdnUser");
    so that invoked a web handler that could look up the SQL database and return the XML that I wanted, and wrote this web handler.
    This works perfectly with Internet Explorer, but with FireFox the timeline band is blank. Yet when I examine the http traffic with Fiddler2 (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) I see that with either browser there is a response from URL
    /GDB_pages/GDBTimeline.ashx?Type=Family&Userid=robertb
    that returns the XML that it is supposed to.
    I have previously used web handlers with Firefox before, with no problems. The Fiddler results conclusively show that the web handler is invoked, and returns the appropriate XML, and this XML is identical to the XML from the static test with Example.xml.
    Where do I start looking for answers? I don't even know if this is a Simile problem, a Firefox problem, or an ASP.NET problem.
    Thank you, Robert.

    Problem solved. The issue: Content Type was not correct.
    Visual Studio creates the web handler with dummy code like this: -
    Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    context.Response.Write("Hello World")
    End Sub
    I wrote a database query that set a string variable to the XML I wanted: -
    Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest
    Dim Outstring as string
    ' my logic to fill Outstring with XML
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    context.Response.Write(Outstring)
    End Sub
    This works with Internet Explorer. However it's not strictly correct: to make it work with other browsers as well,
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"
    should be
    context.Response.ContentType = "text/xml"
    It now works with IE, FF, and Chrome, and presumably all others.

  • Internet Explorer 7.0 and Firefox

    We're building webhelp files with RoboHTML 5. These files
    only seem to work on Internet Explorer. The links do not work right
    in Firefox. Anyone else having this problem and know how to fix?
    Also, did I read somewhere that Robohelp is not compatible
    with IE 7.0 or did I imagine that?

    I produce web help in Robohelp X5.0.2, and have found one or
    two minor issues with Firerfox and Opare, but current versions of
    Firefox (2.0.0.4) and Opera (9.21) seem to be working much better
    than earlier versions. I have no problems with Firefox. In Opera, I
    now have just one small problem - that it doesn't handle DHTML
    effects such cross-fading images in slideshows (you just get a
    simple flick from one image to the next one).
    I have had no problems using Robohelp X5.0.2 with IE7.
    I have tried Apple Safari on Windows XP, but that really
    doesn't like web help at all. The topics appear but the navigation
    and search panes are always blank. That's with java suport etc
    enabled in the browser.
