Hold down home and sleep buttons for about 15 seconds.   If you don't see the Apple logo, plug phone into wall charger for at least 15 minutes.

  • Iphone 4s 1 month old Shuts off with battery life remaining!

Just wanted to put this out for others to see.
I bought this iphone online from Cricket brand new in June 12, 2013, didnt activate it till July 9, 2013 and today 8-2-13 I had to take it to Apple to diagnose because it was shutting down by itself even though it was showing 50% battery remaining and would not boot but showed the "battery icon with the red bar inside" indicating it needed to be charged. However, when you did charge it and then booted it, it would show that there was 50% battery remaining since that was the point it shut down at and started charging from that point or at whatever battery %(percentage) it shut down at. Initially it started turning off the 1st week at 5%, then 10%, then 15%, then 20%, then 21% and so on until by the end of 24 days of light use it was shutting off at 50%. I took the phone to Apple and the Apple employee saw the problem i was having and had a technician open it. Apple's conclusion from the store was 1. The battery was working 100%, 2. Everything inside looked original" (It should, it was a new phone, not refurbished). So basically  the iphone 4s was defective but he didn't want to say that. The problem was Not the battery but something hardware or software related. They gave me a new iphone 4s to replace mine since it was under warranty for 1 year and thanfully Cricket didn't charge to reactivate the phone otherwise Apple was refusing to take liablitiy for a defective product and pay the activation fee had Cricket charged me even after i spoke with the manager. Hopefully this phone will be ok, otherwise its another trip to Apple.
Bottom line is it was not the battery but something defective with the hardware or software for anyone else that might be having this problem. IF your phone is under warranty I would have them look at it.
    Good luck.

The first time this happened to me was at noon and the battey was about 80%, then again about 4pm and the battery was about 53% and again like one hour ago. This is very anoying, i am happy with my new phone but i feel bad about this issue.

  • MacBook Pro shutting off with battery charged

I have a MacBook Pro I purchased about 22 months ago. About seven days ago, I started noticing the computer just shutting off without warning, even with a charge of 20% or more. Using Coconutbattery my batter still has 62% of it's original capacity with 367 load-cycles. Battery life isn't great, so I was considering buying a new battery, I'd just like to know if other's experience this, and would a new battery solve the problem.
There are no other problems with the machine.

  • IPhone turns off with battery left

Since updating to iOS7 my iphone 5 turns itself off when the battery gets 20%. What's this all about?

Try Reset, see if better. If not, try Restore, see if better. If not, then battery is most likely faulty, make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple Store for free quick battery diagnostic testing.

  • My iPhone 3GS running iOS 6 shuts off with 60% battery. Do any of you know any fixes, or at least what might be causing this?

I'm not sure if the problem has to do with iOS 6, but the problem started around the time I upgraded to it. I was playing Infinity Blade II when my iPhone shut off on me. I tried restarting the phone but once the lock screen showed (The battery was also shown to have a 64% charge), it quickly shut off again until I hooked the phone on the charger. This time the phone showed that it had a low battery and displayed the screen showing the empty battery, but then after a minute, the phone's lock screen appeared again with a 64% charge again. This keeps happening when ANY application is running when the phone is near 68%. The only time I've gone below that is when the phone was left overnight on standby. I have no idea what's going on or what's causing this. I could really use some help.
Also I've already restored my phone, and the problem still persists.

    Chris,
Definitely sounds like the battery controller is, at the minimum, out of synch with the battery itself. This can happen from with this type of battery.
But considering the age of the phone, I'd say it is more likely time to replace a nearly bad battery.
At least do this. Run the phone until the battery dies.
Power it up, and run it until it dies again.
If the battery is truly dead, upon power up you should get a large red dead battery symbol in the screen.
At this point plug it in to charge. DO NOT USE IT. Allow it to charge to 100%. This will re-calibrate the battery.
If it does not help, you should replace the battery.

  • My iPhone 4S shut off with a 62% battery life and hasn't came back on yet. I've charged it and all it just won't come back on at all. Is this a common problem? Is this covered under my 1 year warranty?

My iPhone 4S shut off with a 62% battery life and hasn't came back on yet. I've charged it and all it just won't come back on at all. Is this a common problem? Is this covered under my 1 year warranty?

    No it is not common.
    Most have no issues.
Have you tried basics from the manual?  Restart, reset, restore?
The warranty covers defects.  If the iphone is defective, then they would replace it.

  • Why is my iphone 4s turning off with battery power still left

I noticed my first iPhone 4s shutting off with 20% battery power left, 30% then 40% and not being able to turn it back on until I put it on a charger.  After it was turned on it showed 20%, 30% and 40% battery power.  I sent that one in and they sent me a new one.  Now two weeks later, paying closer attention with the new one, it has started that process all over again at 10% battery power.  Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I just send it in and get a new one?  Hoping this doesn't happen again!!!

I have exactly the same problem with my iphone 4 (6.1.2). Try this : Restart, reset, restore from backup, and then restore as new. Didnt work for me.

  • Iphone 4 auto shut off when battery 20% and lower.

My Iphone 4 auto shut off when battery 20% and lower. The phone is only 1.5 years old. Can I know why this happen?

Most commom reason for this is faulty battery. You could try Restore with iTunes on computer, at end when prompted, Set Up iPhone as New. If still problem and you have AppleCare, take to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, make Genius reservation and take to Apple Store for quick free battery diagnostic testing.

My IPhone shut off by itself and I can't turn it back on. My lock screen button is broken and I tried plugging it into the wall but nothing happened. Can you guys please help me.

IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My iphone shut off and I can't get it back on!

My iphone shut off and won't turn back on, even if connected to the charger. I see other responses have said to hold down the power and home buttons together. Where is the home (or sleep) button? I know where the power button is. Thanks

Flip the Vibrate/Mute switch on and off, does the iPhone Vibrate? If yes, then your iPhone is on and the screen is out. If no vibrate then try the following......
Leave your iPhone connected to the Wall Charger so the Battery can charge, which may be the problem. Then after at least 30 minutes, try to turn on your iPhone. You can push the Top (Power, On/Off, Sleep) button like normal. Or you could just unplug and then replug the charger or USB cable. Connecting iPhone is a way to turn it on. If this does not work you can hold at same time Both the Home button (the button at bottom of front screen) and the Power button (the top, on/off, sleep), hold both for about 15 seconds until the iPhone turns on. Holding both these buttons at same time is called a Reset.
If this does not revive your iPhone you will have to Restore the Firmware in iTunes. Open iTunes, press the Home Button and then connect your iPhone to the computer with the USB cable, keep holding the Home Button until the iTunes screen appears on your iPhone. When iTunes prompts you Restore the Firmware.

  • Why does my iphone shut off??

Can anyone tell me why my iphone always shuts off by it self? Its starting to **** me off.

Well, I finally broke down after months of fighting this issue and sprung for a new battery for my two year old 3GS, along with professional install for $50. Interestingly, they ran a diagnostic, thinking my two year old battery was running UNDER voltage and that's why it was shutting off with 70-80% life still in it. Turns out it was OVER volting, not under. Go figure. New battery installed and I have run it through two drain cycles, streaming stuff to try to replicate the issue. Seems to be running like a new phone now. Isn't shutting off until it is truly drained, as it should. :)
