Could be either

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- Try another charging source
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store or contact an Apple Authorised Service Provider

First see if placing the iPod in Recovery Mode will allow a restore.
Next try DFU mode and restore.

IPod touch battery charge icon won't light, USB doesn't connect to computer
I have an iPod touch 64 GB 4th generation that suddenly has charging and USB issues. The charging icon will not light no matter what I try. I have tried several different chargers and docks that have proven to be working properly using another unit of the same model. Strangely, the iPod does appear to charge, but the battery indicator is a bit random and possibly doesn't indicate the actual charge level.
The iPod will also not connect to a computer using any of my iPod cables or computers. I have tried putting it into DFU (didn't work - computer would not recognize iPod at all) mode and also did a full reset (wiping everything on it) and it is still acting the same.
As of now, it works normally, except battery level indicator cannot be trusted, and it is impossible to know if it is charging or is charged, and there is no way to back it up, meaning any content generated on the iPod will have to be backed up in some other way besides connecting to a computer via USB.
I know that the USB is working at least a little bit on the iPod, because the iPod will turn on when plugging it into the computer via USB, but nothing else will happen.
I also cleaned the connector area with contact cleaner and a light brush.
Any ideas on what else to try?Not Charge

I'm trying to find out if I can hook up my iPod touch 4th gen. iOS 5.0.1 to my HDTV with an HDMI cable and have it mirror what I do on the iPod Touch like mirroring videos for example. I need to find out and if so, how?
You can only output content to your TV if the App you are using supports the TV Out functionality. Mirroring is not supported on the iPod Touch.
If you still want to output content from your iPod to your TV, make sure you have the right cables as described here.

My iPod touch is stuck on iTunes logo and USB cord image.
I just bought a brand new iPod touch two days ago. So I am new at this, I plug the USB into my iPod touch last night to buy and download music and apps from iTunes; it worked just fine. Today, I go to charge my iPod into my computer and put some more music on it. Then, iTunes pops up a warning sign of some sort and says I needed to upgrade my iTunes, I clicked okay while my iPod touch was still plugged in my computer. In the middle of its process, another warning sign pops up and says I needed to cancel the process immedently. So, I did; and now my iPod is telling me to connect my USB to iTunes. And it's stuck on that screen; and my iPod won't show up on my computer nor iTunes, but it makes the "ding" noise when i replug my USB into my iPod.
I tried Apples support searches, and going to Youtube to search how to fix it, but non have both problems at the same time.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP, I'M DYING TO SAVE MY NEW iPOD!
Thank you,
Sincerely, AdelinaFirst and foremost...
Are you absolutely certain that you're using a USB port that does, in fact, provide power to the iPod? If there is the slightest doubt, use an Apple wall-mount charger if you have one. If you don't have one, use a USB port directly on the CPU. Do NOT use a port on a hub. Do NOT use a port on the keyboard (which is really a hub). Charge the unit preferably overnight but a full hour as an absolute minimum.
If you're still having a problem after doing the above, try this.

Helping my dad long-distance with his iPod Touch 5th generation, running 8.1.1.
He's having several problems trying to sync the thing:
1) "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with your iPod" error, even though he's using the cable that came with the device, when connecting to his Mac. (This happens with both certified Apple cables he owns.)
1.1) He's unable to take screenshots of this error, even though he can take screenshots of any other screen.
2) Won't charge when connected to his Mac (does charge when connected to his 5w cube).
3) Connecting to Mac dones't launch iTunes, but does launch iPhoto.
4) Sometimes, even after launching iTunes manually, the iPod doesn't show up.
5) We we can get the iPod and iTunes to talk to each other, he gets 7/8ths through syncing, then gets the error "Some of the videos in your iTunes Library, including the video IMG0925.jpg, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod." — yes, the "videos" that won't "play" on his iPod are all JPEGs.
6) When clicking [OK] to clear problem #5, it's always followed by "iTunes cannot back up the iPod (device name) because an error occurred." Even though it was 7/8ths done before the error occurred.
7) Issue 5 and 6 occur when connected to the Mac over wifi too. (We've tried with wifi backup both off and on.)
7) He's randomly prompted for his iCloud password at least 3-4 times a week. Entering it doesn't make this problem go away.
8) Tried to update to 8.1.2 (hoping it would fix some of these issues), but after tapping [Agree] in the overlay screen, he's taken back to the T&C screen with [Decline] and [Agree] buttons at the bottom, and NOTHING happens.
So we he back up via any means, he can't upgrade, and we can't wipe and restore because he'll lose a month's worth of updates to calendar and address book.
I'm know my way around Mac and iOS, and I'm stumped. Anybody got anything?#1

My ipod touch 5th gen has no sound through usb hookup-car
I Have a kenwood ddx 370 touch screen HU installed in my car, and i can'y get sound from my speakers when its in ipod mode, and the wires are plugged in to the HU. I used to own a iphone 4, and a iphone 4s that both worked. now this issue is strange with not getting sound, as everything else works.
it charges, it is recognized by the HU, displays all the album art song etc, but just not hearing the sound.
my radio, xm radio cd and all that work fine. its strange how the phone does everything on the radio but have sound coming out of speakers. when i just use the aux cable i get the sound, but none from usb/ipod option. anyone familiar with this, and how to fix this?
i just got the ipod touch no even a week ago either, and it was brand new.Does Kenwood say it will work with a 5G iPod (or iiPhone 5)?

New ipod touch won't connect, shows itunes and usb icons
My son just got a new ipod touch for his birthday. I have the latest version of itunes, and I have spent hours scouring the internet looking for a solution. Whether the thing is plugged into the computer or not, all it will do is show the usb cable icon and the itunes icon. When I plug it into the computer, my computer makes the noise that indicates that a device has plugged in, the ipod beeps one beep, and I get an error message from itunes that says that a rented movie from the ipod cannot be imported into itunes. Other than that, the computer, including itunes, doesn't acknowledge the existence of the ipod, not in the device manager, in itunes, in the itunes diagnostics tests, or anywhere else. In addition, the battery won't charge.
Also, I noticed that I do not have anything called "Apple Mobile Device Service," although I do have something called "Bonjour service." Are these the same thing or could this be the problem. Please HELP!See:

You need iTunes 10.5 or later and that requires OSX 10.5.8 or later. -
IPod Touch (3rd Gen) won't boot unless usb powered
Info:
iPod Touch (3rd Gen) 32 GB
Latest Version available (5.1.1)
Tried resetting settings
Tried hard reset (home button and power button at the same time until apple logo)
Has a full charge
So basically any time I try to turn the iPod Touch on it will bring up a black screen for a second on the display, fail to boot up to the apple logo, and then shuts the display off.
I have done everything up to restoring it on iTunes as listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
The only problem is in the process of this occuring I have had a hard drive fail so my iPod Touch backups are more than likely lost without further analysis. So what would be the next best step? I assume refreshing it and backing up everything with a backup on my new hard drive under iTunes. Obviously, my computer would know anything about this iPod since I don't have its previous backups, but I should still be able to get the basics (music, videos, photos, etc) back thanks to default iCloud account right?
Thank you for your time.
