I can't believe my ipod touch 3g just broke today. It was my friend when I'm on my way to coolege, my friend when walking alone at the mall. I know that model is already old but buying a new one is not an option, and bringing to an apple center is not an option because we dont have one around here our place, we have greedy cheaters technician in our place and I don't trust them because thinking they will steal the parts of my ipod. So this is what happened, as you see my ipod touch 3g is jailbreak (dont shou't at me it's legal you see) and today I just installed the veency, because my speaker is at my room while my desktop is at the living room which has no speaker. I want to control my ipod touch 3g via remote desktop(VNC) so I don't have to walk to my room all the time to skip a song I don't like. Now the battery of my ipod touch was below 20%, and in the VNC application in my desktop I was configuring stuffs the color quality, recommended quality etc. I put them to low quality so I can control my ipod faster with less lag. While playing songs, the ipod's music stop, me thinking its low bat. I picked it up then realizing it was kinda hot, not hot enough to burn my skin though, but still its not normal. I plug it to my computer to charge it, but nothing is happening, plain blank and empty no logo or charging sign. I tried putting it DFU mode but nothing, my itunes also doesn't detect it anymore. I'd put it in front of the AC to cool it down because it was hot and it took a bit of time to cool it down. I retried charging it but still nothing.
I know ipod touch 3g is already outdated, but I believe it still can be fix, thinking maybe the battery is dead, or maybe shortage or stuff. Currenly my ipod touch 3g is plug to my computer with no sign of life. Guys any idea? Going to the technicians is my plan Z. Help me fix it.

Jailbreaking can have unintended consequences. Also, we can't hel with jailbroken iPods since it is against the terms of this forum and even Apple will not help with jailbroken devices. Sorry.

IPod Touch 3G in DFU Mode and won't come out

My daughter's iPod Touch 3G appears to be in DFU mode, but won't come out. The screen is completely black, and when I attach it to the computer, it comes up with the message "iTunes had detected as an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." When I hit the restore button, I receive the error message "software for this iPhone is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again."
I've seen this message posted several times in the forum, and I have tried all the troubleshooting tips offered by Apple Support and in the answers to some of the questions. I am a Systems Engineer, so I consider myself pretty technically savvy. These are the steps I have followed so far:
1) Completey removed and reinstalled iTunes according to the instructions provided by Apple.
2) Downloaded the firmware for both the 3G and IOS4 from http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/ and attempted a manual install - when I do this, I receive the error message, "the iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored because the firmware is incompatible"
3) Downloaded RecBoot to attempt to exit recovery mode, but it does not appear to be detecting the iPod.
4) Attempted to exit and re-enter DFU mode several times to no avail.
5) Called Apple Express Lane and was willing to pay the 1 time phone support charge, however the agent told me that he could not help me, and that I needed to take the iPod into an Apple store (the iPod is 190 days out of warranty).
My last effort is to try the install from another PC. So, prior to taking the iPod into the store, I was wondering if anyone has had any success other than the steps I have tried above. I'm appreciative for any assistance anyone is able to provide.

Check the model number on the back, "A1318" = 3G, "A1288" = 2G. If it truly is a 32GB 3G Touch, then you're going to have a rough time going back to an iOS version earlier than the current release (4.3.1, available from iTunes). The iOS packs you get from the site you mention are not "signed" and you probably won't be able to install them ... I think 2G owners have better luck with those "unofficial" versions.
So, if you have a 3G, your best bet is to erase (or move) all earlier iOS versions and let iTunes download a fresh copy of 4.3.1 for the iPod -- no need to go to a 3rd party site. If you have a 2G, then the latest version you can install is 4.2.1, which is also available from iTunes. To increase your odds of this working out, you might temporarily disable any AV software and firewall(s).

II have a big problem, I cannot restore my iPod touch.
I cannot get anything to show on the screen, it seems stuck in DFU mode. When I connect it to my pc, iTunes show this message "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".
"Check for update" is grayed. Capacity/serial/Software show N/A.
iTunes detects it as an iPhone but it's an iPod touch.
I tried 2 different computers.
I tried to download firmware and shift restore them, tried many, none work, telling it is not compatible.
When I click restore simply, it show this message "Software for this iPhone is not currently available".
I tried different ipod cable too, no luck.
The only way I can see something on the screen is with greenpoison (note that before this, I never tried nor wanted to jailbreak, but I tried a lot of things since 2 days including this, but no luck), so with green poison, I can get the iTunes + cable logo on the screen, but it won't restore either.
my iPod is just 1 year old, and 32gb, I'm rly frustrated and sad about all this :S, I tried lot of things, searched a lot, nothing work.
This happened when I came back from the gym, in my car, the iPod would not turn on, I tried again at home, and after some home/power, it turned on, I took a shower and when I came back, it was the same problem but since, it never turned on again.

If its stuck in DFU mode, just hold the Power/Sleep button and the Home button until the device resets. If your unable to access the springboard, you might need to RECOVER your iPod Touch using the Recovery method, not DFU mode.

If you never Jailbroken, then why is greenpois0n installed? Did you buy this from a previous owner?

When I connect my Ipod touch to my Mac, it keeps on charging then stopping and it wont sync

I tried to update my ipod but it didnt work and I have no back up so when i try and restore it it wont do it -- whats the best way to put the firmware back on my ipod with out itunes
