    if require the new itunes11.1.X
if you already have that and it's windows then uninstall itunes
use regEdit you can type that in run or the likes and search and delete all hits you get on itunes
then reboot windows and install itunes again

Iv tried following the reset and restore several times on iphone itself tried to restart the pc and have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes but still nothing!!!all its showing on the iphone screen is a picture of the usb lead and the itunes logo and when i plug into main computer with usb lead its not been recognised at all so now my phone is totally frozen and the pc cant find it at all.Iv also tried to follow procedure on my laptop and at first it recognises the iphone then says to continue i need to restore to factory settings which iv done but then says it doesnt recognize the iphone and has error report therefore back to sqaure one I do have the latest version of itunes on both my desktop pc and laptop my desktop is windows XP my laptop is vista..and it is working ok with my normal ipod its just my iphone thats not been recognised and frozen its not even showing up in My Computer either also when unplugged from usb lead its just blank black screen even after reset still just picture of usb and itunes on screen but then does nothing. Please help dont know what to do?????

    Does this work?
    +Plug in your iPhone.+
+Power it down by holding the sleep/lock button and sliding to power off.+
+Once it’s powered down, press and hold both the sleep/lock button and the home button for ten seconds.+
+After 10 seconds, release the power button but continue holding down the home button.+
+If you did it right, iTunes will pop up a window (like the one below) telling you that it’s detected an iPhone in recovery mode and your iPhone’s screen will be black. If it didn’t work, start from the beginning and try again.+

  • How do I make it so that the one computer that has the main itunes account on it be used on other computers, when it comes to backing up phones and not deleting data off of phone that isnt on that computer itunes becasse its all on the one main computer

how do I make it so that the one computer that has the main itunes account on it be used on other computers, when it comes to backing up phones and not deleting data off of phone that isnt on that computer itunes becasse its all on the one main computer. Baiscally the problem is that one comuter and one account has always been sued for eey persons itunes. Now if we want to be able to backup and use itunes on our own computers fro our iphones and such, how will all he data that is on our phones not be deleted once its plugged into a new computer? Also, is theere a way to get all the stuff on thw current itunes onto each computer, via differtn account name?

option discovered in preferences. Really this and any feature that moves deletes or edits a users data should as far as possible be OFF BY DEFAULT. It shouldn't by default and without the users specific say do this dangerous and unnecessary thing without even letting the user know what it's doing!!! And then cause me a few hours (as i'm new to mac) searching for the option so as to switch it off. If i hadn't noticed the status cage declaring that it was copying files then i might never have twigged that this insane thing was occurring. And if i hadn't of noticed i would have been left maintaining the contents of the folder i copied the files to, the folder which as far as i was informed and so believed was also the location of the music files i was playing. How does Apple justify this 'genius' piece of software non-design? Surely it will hurt no one if this was off by default for new users - overall at least i dare say it would cause a lot less distress in the future for the unsuspecting public at large. Thanks for the support.

  • TS1363 my iTunes crashes when i plug my iPod in, and won't recognise it. My computer does, why not iTunes?!?!

...So I sort of said it all in the title.
My iTunes which is up to date freezes as soon as I plug my iPod in, I've had this problem on my last laptop
and now again on this new one, so its not my computer. Both computers recognise the device as an iPod but both iTunes freeze.
AND it started doing this on the day that the guy who invented apple died O____O
Anyway ANY AND ALL help would be a life saver, I'm sick of pretending I'm fine sitting on the bus listening to the hubbub of LND!
    I WANT MY MUSIC BACK!!

Do the iPod Disk diagnostic as posted by tt2, it wont fix your problem but help in troubleshooting, especially iPod Classic hardisk.

  • TS3682 Iphone cannot sync and is not recognised by computer or itunes

Iphone continually displays the symbol to connect with itunes when pluged into to a source of electricity... but Itunes doesn't recognise it and i cannot get it to sync.
I have downloaded the newest version of itunes and updated my computer but still cannot sync.
Itunes seems to realise something is connected as....
'Itunes could not contact the Iphone software update server as you are not connected to the internet.'
...shows up in itunes everytime i reconnect the iphone with my laptop. I am however connected to the internet.
    Please help! :S

In iTunes,go to Help > Diagnostics.
    Run tests
If the issue is device not found go to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US
I ran through process to update drivers now phone is charging and recognised by my computer.

  • My ipod Shuffle Gen 2 is not recognised by itunes AND computer...!!

Hi my ipod shuffle 2nd gen is not being recognised by my computer. I have installed the new itunes and it does not recognise it either.
However it does a little flash thing with the lights when i ccnnect it, but then they turn off. I know that this means it needs restoring. But how can i restore it if the computer doesnt recognise it??
    thanks!

I'm also having the same problem with my 2nd gen iPod Shuffle. iTunes on my Mac does not recognize it and will not sync with it. Occasionally, iTunes will recognize it but then when I try to sync it, iTunes then does not recognize it.
Interestingly, when I hook this Shuffle up to iTunes on my Windows machine, it does recognize it and will sync up.
What might be the problem here and how can it be corrected? If anyone has any thoughts/solutions, please let us know.
    Thanks...
