  • BIOS Update failed HP Probook 4440s

    I've been trying to update my BIOS from version F.41 to F.43 or F.50 wich are the recommended by HP SDM and it is not working.
    I have downloaded the files and run them with the flash assitant that pops up when running the downloaded update, and after rebooting my Notebook, HP Probook 4440s,  I still have the same BIOS version as I had before running the update.
    I get no error messages, but when I open the HP SDM I still get the message that BIOS have to be updated and it is a crtitical update.
    I'm running window 7 pro 64 Bits
    What can be done to solve this?

  • ProBook 4440S brand new malfunctio​ning

    I just got a brand new HP ProBook 4440S. As soon as I turned it on I went to the McAfee website to install antivirus. I noticed it was very sluggish - i.e. it took 5-10 minutes for the buttons to light up so I could click and then took another several minutes to start IE once I was able to click. It connected to the McAfee site quickly as it should and downloaded the antivirus without issue.
    In order to install McAfee I had to reboot the computer. When I restarted the computer it began downloading Windows updates (83 of them). It took 8 hours to finish then it gave me a message saying the Windows updates failed.It then restarted.
    Once the computer restarted it ran the disk check utility for several hours. A whole lot of lines that read "File record segment ###### is unreadable." It will not boot from the CD it came with.
    This is a BRAND NEW computer! Ridiculous.
    I can't get the product number from the computer because I can't boot it up to find it. I have the model number and serial number, but I can't get onto your tech support with either of those numbers so I can get some help.
    I received the computer through a 3rd party government purchaser so I cannot return it - I don't know where it was purchased. I cannot return it to the purchaser.
    This is very frustrating, as I NEED this computer starting next week.
    Where can I take it to get it working right, repaired, or exchange it under HP warranty?

  • Sound coming from both speakers and headphones at the same time in probook 4440s

    I have a Probook 4440s with windows 8 pro(64 bit) with IDT high definition codec installed. Yesterday when i was playing some songs i noticed that the sound was coming from both headphones and speakers even when my headphones are plugeed in and my lappy was having no such problems a few hours earliers while i was watching a movie. Please help..

    It may be because you have both the internal speakers and headphones enabled at the sametime on your laptop. This might just happen automatically when you plug your headphones in. You need to manage your audio devices on your laptop.
    Go to Control Panel> Hardware and Sounds> Manage Audio Devices> Playback Tab (which should already be selected)    
    In the playback tab there should be a list of all the audio devices you are using on your computer. Right click on the one you don't want to use and click disable. This should stop the sound coming from that audio device. 
    Remember: You will need to enable that audio device if you want to listen to sound through it again. Your internal speakers won't work once you enable them again. This might also be the case with your headphones. You may also have to do this every time your plug in a device or once you restart your computer.
    Another note: Sometimes disabled devices will not show up on the audio device list so once you disable a device it will dissappear. This is an easy fix too. Just right click on an audio device and make sure show disabled devices and show disconnected devices is checked.
    I hope this helps.
    (I was using a computer with Windows XP to explain the instructions but it should be similar with your Windows Operating System. You may however have to play around a little on your computer because it may be slightly different)

    I am using a probook 4440s with Windows 8 pro. I am not able to listen any sort of audio except system sounds and online vedios. all my drivers in my device manager looks good. please help!!

    Hello shaurya21.  I understand you're having some issues with your sound.
    Did you get the 4440s with Windows 8 installed or did you install it?  If you installed it, did you do a clean install or an upgrade?
    Has the sound ever worked properly?
    Since you're getting sound from online videos and system notifications this implies the sound does work.  So, could you elaborate more on the instances in which it does not work?
    @DavidGreene.  HP provides their own driver scanning application called HP Support Assistant.  It is recommended that customers utilize this program to ensure that they have the correct drivers.  Problems could ensue if using a third party application.  To use HP Support Assistant the HP Software Framework must also be installed.  Here is a link to the HP Software Framework and here is a link to HP Support Assistant.

    I updated my Hp ProBook 4440s from windows 7 32 bit to Windows 10 32 bit, everything is working except for my WiFi it says 'Windows did not detect any networking hardware' Can you please provide me with the compatible wifi drivers for Windows 10 Pro 32 bit. I hope you can help

    Hi: I guess what I meant to say is that you may want to play around with some of the advanced settings for the card in the device manager. It seems that reading the article you posted, that procedure may have been for folks that have Cisco software to allow for Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and I don't think the drivers you have include any Cisco extensions. You can see if there is Cisco networking software by going to the Programs menu in the control panel and see the list of programs installed. There are usually 2-3 Cisco networking software items listed if you do. Sometimes tweaking those advanced settings help.  Here is an article that explains what some of these settings are for. http://superuser.com/questions/342759/can-somebody-explain-about-wi-fi-device-manager-settings-and-power-settings-in-w The ones I normally change are:  Enable WMM.  Set Roam tendency to conservative.  Roam decision to optimize distance. I had to change some setting on an old Intel 5300 wireless card to allow it to connect in W10.   The drivers were there, etc but when I went to connect to a network, it did nothing.

    Hi, I have a HP Probook 4440s and I am slightly confused as to what CPUs my laptop is compatible with. My issue is mostly understanding the socket type. I have found from various sources that my laptop has a G2 cpu socket which has something (that I cannot fully grasp) to do with PGA988. I would like to buy a Intel Core i5 3380M if possible but it is listed as being for socket PGA988. Is this CPU compatible with laptop? I know the G2 socket and PGA988 are related in some way and they might be the same but I cannot find a concrete source that says either way

    Just open your LG volume up likes its an external HD and drag all photos onto a folder in your macbook Air.

  • Notebook Probook 4525s energy star

    I have 3 problems;
    First one to appear was a message that the screen driver didn´t respond where after the screen turned black and came back after a short while.
    The next problem was that the machine stopped responding. Period. No responce to mouse, mouse pad, ctrl+alt+delete. Only thing to do was to shut it down.
    The last problem is a message that there is not enough memory.
    All three problems have occured several times, but not in the same day
    What to do?

    I understand you are having issues with the battery life on your HP ProBook 4530s Notebook PC since installing Windows 8.1. I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product.   • HP ProBook 4440s stuck on starting windows screen

    Hello Everyone,
    I am in desperate need of help!!  I have a HP ProBook 440s laptop which was working perfectly fine on Friday.  Now today on Monday when I turn on the computer it gives me 2 options because it says Windows failed to start.....1) launch startup repair (recommended) or to start windows normally.  When I choose to to do the system repair it says loading files and when done a box pops up and says " The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x40161651 and then says click on OK to terminate the program.  After I click ok, it says the installed program cannot start and to click ok to turn off the computer.  Then back to square 1 with turning on the computer with my 2 options mentioned above.  If I try to start windows normally then it will just stay stuck on the starting windows screen.  I have tried hitting F8 to try and launch windows in safe mode the screen will just say loading window files and please wait at the bottom....but it will just stay stuck on this screen with nothing happening even after 45 minutes!!!  All I want to do is to be able to access my pictures that I failed to backup!  I am ok with getting a new laptop, but just desperately need a way to get my pictures off this laptop!!  Any help will definitely definitely be needed and appreciated!!!  Thank you so much in advance!!!

    Take out the hard drive, connect it to another PC using SATA to USB adapter. Using Windows Explorer in that PC, copy everything you need to salvage to another external drive.

    Which is the operating system installed?
    Do you have recovery media or installation discs?
    Please test the hard drive - quick & extensive tests from BIOS: tap f2 as soon as you power on laptop to get into System Diagnostics. Complete the tests.

  • Extended router's network for Airport extreme. Works well with MacbookPro. I can print with notebook with XP SP3 and, I can see the USB-harddisc in the Airport service program but, I cannot use it. I have set filesharing etc. What do I do wrong?

    I connected the Airport Extreme wireless to the existing network of my router. At the Airport there is connected via USB a Printer and three hard discs. All works well on my MacBook Pro - I can print and use the hard discs. On my notebook and my desktop, both with XP-SP3 I can use the printer only. In the Airport service program - manual set up - hard discs I can see the drives with the correct names but I cannot work with it. I don't find neithe the Airport Extreme nor the drives in the Windows Explorer. Of course I've set 'filesharing' etc. What do I do wrong? Where is the mistake in the set up?

That is my preferred method anyway.. do everything in isolation one by one. By ethernet and then nothing goes wrong.

    You cannot partition a network disk. And apple provided no tools for it in the TC itself. You can pull the disk out and partition it but that voids your warranty. (although done with care who is to know).

  • Windows 7 not booting after memory upgrade ProBook 6540b

    Windows 7 Professional 64bit
    Currently, I have 2x2GB of RAM and I want to upgrade it to 2x4GB. After replacing the 2GB sticks with the new 4 GB sticks, the notebook does not start anymore. I bought the right kind with right speed (DDR3 1333MHz 10600 9-9-9-24 SODIMM) and BIOS shows the correct amount of memory but it gets stuck at "starting windows" screen. I've upgraded the BIOS to latest version... if i put the older 4gb (2x2) sticks back in there, it boots just fine. Memory was new and never even used. The memory diagnostics tool doesn't show any errors either, i.e. the test passes without errors.
    Any ideas? Thank you for the help.
