MIB Question

Hi all,
I was playing with the Cisco IOS MIB Locator tool saw a long list of MIBs for 3845 routers running IOS 12.4(15)T9 - Advanced Enterprise Services.  Does this mean that all of the listed MIBs are already on the router for my NMS to poll?  Or does this mean that I would have to load all of these MIBs onto the router before my NMS can poll the router for the OIDs in these MIBs?

yes. you are right. all these MIBS are available to be polled by your NMS. You do not need to take any action. There is no such thing as loading a MIB into your router. either your IOS sppts the MIB or you need to upgrade to a version that does.

    As a result of network interruption during script execution, some of the remote devices never received the ccCopyEntryRowStatus "destroy", so I assume that field remains set to createAnd*. Would there be any danger leaving that "as is", especially considering the next execution will again attempt to set it to createAnd*? On the flip side, what happens if ccCopyEntryRowStatus receives "destroy" when it's not set (or would that be the "notInService(2)" state)?

    Is it to say I could summarily issue a blind "destroy" upfront regardless, as a "best practice"?
    To restate my original question: Is there any [adverse] impact if ccCopyEntryRowStatus that's left in "createAndWait" state receives another "createAndWait" directive immediately after?

  • Tuxedo MIB question - tpadmcall

    We're looking to expose more detailed information (user-specific) about the
    current message being processed by the queue for monitoring purposes. Is
    there a class/attribute we can overextend or is there/will there be a
    facility to define a user-specific MIB for our own purposes?

    Alex,
    We're not aware of any problems with the MIB in this area. Perhaps if you
    post a code fragment people would be able to see what is going wrong.
    There is no MIB identifier containing the characters "MSQID"; is the
    identifier you are working with TA_APPQMSGID or is it something else?

  • MDS 9509 MIB question

    Hi,
    We've setup a SNMP trap server (net-SNMP). I've believe I have the MDS MIBs, but I get a MIB/OID that even google can't find:
    udp:10.31.48.47:32783 [udp:10.31.48.47:32783]: Trap SNMPv2-MIB::sysUpTime.0 = Timeticks: (3193233237) 369 days, 14:05:32.37, SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.293.1.4.0.3, SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.293.1.1.4.1.2.2.3.6.0 = Hex-STRING: 21 00 00 E0 8B 0F 00 E0 , SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.293.1.1.4.1.8.2.3.6.0 = INTEGER: 2
    I do get correct/readable "link down/up" messages, but I don't know what the above is.
    Thanks for any pointers,

    From the SNMP navigator at http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?objectInput=enterprises.9.9.293.1.4.0.3&translate=Translate&submitValue=SUBMIT&submitClicked=true
    this is the fcNameServer Notification which makes sense since the 21 00 00 E0 8B 0F 00 E0 appears to be a fibre channel WWN. So, that is the Cisco-NS-MIB and is a notification. So, assuming I looked up the last digit in the notification in the MIB correctly, the description for 3 is: "This notification is generated by the Name Server when a new entry gets added to the Name Server database."
    Thus, It appears the trap is that that PWWN was registered to the nameserver.

  • Monitoring Cisco UCS Manager via HP System Information Manager 7.1 (SIM)

    I am working with a customer to configure HP System Information Manager 7.1 (SIM) to monitor their Cisco UCS Manager.
    The customer is looking to monitor the following:
    - CPU Utilization on manager, blades, servers, etc...
    - Memory utilization
    - Network utilization
    - System inventory
    Alerting is needed for the following:
    - Hardware failures: memory, power supply, drive, etc...
    - Predictive failures
    - Alert messages
    I have the list of all the MIBs provided by Cisco but an having the following issues while loading them into HP SIM.
    While loading MIB "CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-TC-MIB" I get the following error message:
    Line 128: Error defining object: expected a label, found reserved symbol {
    Line in MIB: SYNTAX Gauge32 {
    Guage32 is imported from SNMPv2-SMI MIB
    To get past this error I found a version of the MIB that removes all the textual conventions that where causing errors.  I have attached the fixed MIB file to this discussion. With the fixed version of the MIB installed in SIM everything compiles and installs except the following two MIBS. CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-NOTIFS-MIBCISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-CONFORM-MIB Questions:

  • SNMP mib Persist question

    Hi All,
    I have a WS-C3750-48TS stack of 4 Members (all same type).
    I have for Monitoring purpose an Powersupply and FAN Monitor.
    The Indexi for Member 4 has been changed from 4003 to 4004 after a change of the master Switch (from SW1 to SW2) as well as a reboot of SW4 and SW1.
    Now I read that the SNMP mib Persist command is available and that the data has to be written to the NVRAM .
    the config guide says:
    Usage Guidelines
    After entering the snmp mib persist command, you must enter the write mib-data command to save MIB persistence configuration data to NVRAM.
    Here is were my question starts.
    If I write the data to the NVRAM, which NVRAM will be written?
    will this prevent the change of the index after a reboot of the non master switch?

    after upgrading to NX-OS 5.04, out snmp traps monitoring system is not generating ticket / incident for the snmp traps and my question is whether we need to apply new MIBS for that?

    Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
    emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
    As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

  • Question about "show snmp mib"

    Doing "show snmp mib" lists all the instance identifiers on my Cat2950, one of them is "c2900PortDuplexState".
    c2900PortDuplexState has OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.87.1.4.1.1.31.
    When I do snmpwalk from my host, I get the OID numbers from the switch.
    [root@localhost ~]# snmpwalk -v2c -c happymeal 10.10.11.254 1.3.6.1.4.1.9
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.87.1.4.1.1.31.0.1 = INTEGER: 3
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.87.1.4.1.1.31.0.2 = INTEGER: 3
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.87.1.4.1.1.31.0.3 = INTEGER: 3
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.87.1.4.1.1.31.0.4 = INTEGER: 3
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.87.1.4.1.1.31.0.5 = INTEGER: 3
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.87.1.4.1.1.31.0.26 = INTEGER: 3
    This means the Cat2950 knows it's instance identifiers and also the OID #'s.
    So is there an IOS command that shows the OID #'s? I think there is "snmp get" on newer platforms?
    And is there a host tool/command like snmpwalk that can get the instance identifiers, like "c2900PortDuplexState", without any MIB's?

    Yes, you have the snmpEngineTime / .1.3.6.1.6.3.10.2.1.3 option on IOS 12.0(3)T or later, as explained in this post:

  • Need help to find the correct .MIB-file

    Hi.
    We are using some Nexus 7009 chassis on my work and a program called "SNMPc" that receives traps from our Nexus devices.
    The program do not have the new Nexus 7000 MIBs so we are only getting "pure text" from Nexus.
    We need to download the right type of MIB file so we can get a better understanding of what is happening on the Nexus.
    We can ONLY use ".mib" extensions but Cisco currently only offering ".traps", ".my" and ".oid" files what I can find.
    This is an example message we get:
    ciscoMgmt.706.0.1 [1] ifName.437260288 (DisplayString): Ethernet3/2 [2] ciscoMgmt.706.1.1.0 (Integer): 5 [3] ciscoMgmt.706.1.2.0 (Integer): 5 [4] ciscoMgmt.706.1.3.0 (Integer): 5 [5] ciscoMgmt.706.1.4.0 (Integer): 5 [6] ciscoMgmt.706.1.5.0 (Integer): 5 [7] ciscoMgmt.706.1.6.0 (Integer): 5 [8] ciscoMgmt.706.1.7.0 (Integer): 5 [9] ciscoMgmt.706.1.8.0 (Integer): 4 [10] ciscoMgmt.706.1.9.0 (Integer): 5 [11] ciscoMgmt.706.1.10.0 (Integer): 5 [12] ciscoMgmt.706.1.11.0 (Integer): 5 [13] snmpTrapEnterprise.0 (ObjectID): ciscoMgmt.706
    We can see that the trap name is: 1.3.6.1.4.1.56.12.1.1.0.1
    Can someone help me get the right MIB?

    Silly question but have your tried changing the file extension of the .my files to .mib  ?  I typically have to do something like that for net-snmp with Cisco MIB files...

    Hi,
    We've various HP printer install in our campus.  I've tried to enable snmp in one of the HP printer ( e.g.  HP LaserJet 500 color M551).   Our goal for the HP printer is to have them response the SNMP "hrDeviceDescr"  under the HOST-RESOURCES-MIB when our SNMP manager device send a SNMP request to the HP printer.   I've make sure our query manager device and the HP printer has the same community string running the same snmp v2.  My question is does the HP LaserJet 500 color M551 support HOST-RESOURCES-MIB and how do I turn it on?

    I can tell you one thing cause your question is kind of crypto to me.
    You can download the whole mib file for the current image running on your controller from the download software section on cisco site.
    Also you can use the SNMP Object navigator on cisco site to look for whatever you want.
    And if it is  urgent open TAC case cause we are responding on best effort.

  • MIB in Solaris 8

    Hello,
    Our servers are currently monitored by a variety of services (HPOV, WUG, Netcool). There is no environmental monitoring currently performed. Environmental would include failed power supplies, hot of non-functioning fans, excessive chassis temp. There's something similar for Cisco like:
    traps for environmental problems are:
         (config)#snmp-server enable traps envmon ?
    fan Enable SNMP envmon fan traps
    shutdown Enable SNMP environmental monitor shutdown traps
    status Enable SNMP environmental status change traps
    supply Enable SNMP environmental monitor supply traps
    temperature Enable SNMP environmental monitor temperature traps
    The question here's. I know is something in Solaris 8 (MIB) that can trigger or tell us something of that kind of environmental issues, how could we setup or compile a MIB or MIBS so everytime those issues come out, we get a notification email for instance?
    Thanks for any time and/or consideration you may have afforded my message

    I used a downloaded PPPD from http://playground.sun.com/pppd/index.html with roaring penguin for my DSL connection.

  • How Cisco represent Arp entry's aging time in SNMP MIB

    Hi there,
    I found : when a laptop roamed between an office and a meeting room and used two different IP addressed in these two places, there are two active IP arp entry in Cisco with different aging time.
    Please see the screenshot for "sh ip arp".  My question is how Cisco represent the aging time in SNMP MIB. Is there any cisco proprieatry MIB to represent the aging. I want find the latest arp entry from SNMP. I can't see any useful field in ipNetToMediaEntry, ipNetToPhysicalEntry and cInetNetToMediaEntry.
    Not sure if cInetNetToMediaLastUpdated is related, but I have never get any snmpwalk result from this oid yet.
    Liam

    This value is not available via SNMP.
    This information comes via IP-MIB and the IP-MIB's ipNetToMedia table will just give you the hardware address, network address, associated interface, and entry type (e.g. static, dynamic, etc.).
    -Thanks
