Were you able to fix your phone? I am having the same problem. However, when I use voice memos the audio recorded is very faint. I have replaced the mic and am still having the same problem. I believe the problem is not the microphone but rather a different piece of hardware that is quieting the audio to nearly nothing. People can here me blow into the phone on a call, but that is all.

The mic on my iPhone4 has just quit also. Similar symptoms to yours in that people I'm talking to hear only static or my voice very faintly. The voice/memo recorder also only really records static.
It happened suddenly and seemed to get better after a day or two but then went completely after another day.
I'm returning it to Vodafone New Zealand shortly but will have to wait 5-10 days for a replacement. There are NO Apple accredited means to speed this procedure up in NZ.
We don't even have a single physical Apple Store where you could walk in and talk to a Genius.

IPhone 5S mic and Touch-ID do not work anymore - What to do?

Hi together and a happy new year to everyone!!
At the moment I have got a serious problem talking about my new iPhone 5s. As it's a cell phone I would like to talk to my friends and family using it. But it seems that this part of the devices is not working anymore as the mic doesn't record anything. If I try to call someone, they can't hear me while I can clearly listen to what they are trying to tell me. So I was wondering whether this is a "phone-app"-problem only or if the mic does not work at all. So I just use to start the "memo"-app, and: It doens't work either. I have no clue what's wrong with the iPhone.
I also tried the update to 7.0.4 and even the reset with the same iOS build, but nothing changed.
So what should I do?
Now, the second problem is that I cannot use Touch-ID anymore. It used to work without any problems but now I does not recognize my finger(s) anymore and I am not able to scan a new finger anymore...that's really annoying. - Tried the same staff here: Update and reset, but nothing changed.
Anyone here who experienced the same problem(s)? Any help or good advice?

Mic for Pioneer DEH-6500BT not working...

Just had this installed at bestbuy and everything works great except when using the bluetooth calling feature the person on the other end gets an annoying feed back noise. Is there something I can check before taking it all the way back to Bestbuy? or is the mic just faulty?

its not the background noise that is making it hard for other people to hear you it is the microphone quality and the cars noise and road noise combined. you will probably not be able to do anything to help your situation except maybe move the microphone a little closer to your person, even then you are probably always goign to get a little feedback. I just went through and dynamated my whole vehicle to eliminate road noise and get better clarity out of my new speakers.
only then did my microphone actually started sounding much clearer on the other end, but that is a very expensive route (thousands to be a little clearer). so basically it is a combination that is fighting against you. I have a kenwood 719 in dash dvd player not pioneer so not a brand problem it is the way that they are making cars and the quality of the microphones. good luck!

My lenovo sl510 mic mute and light button not working

The mic mute button lights up if the sound is muted. However, for the mic, there's no light, whether the mic is muted or not. Is there anybody else who sees the issue? Any solutions?

i had this problem but i installed a new os and installed all the updates and drivers from lenovo's system update and i worked perfectly again(old windows:windows XP new windows:windows 7)

Hello everyone,
I'm not able to record a sound in Sound Forge 8. I've a Realtek HD sound card. I'm able to record a song from sound recorder that comes with Win XP.
This is crazy. There doesn't seem to be any wrong with the settings in the sound properties except that the mic is greyed out.
I'm not able to figure out the problem. I've re-installed the software/ sound driver as well but in vain.
Could anyone please guide me on this? I've to record some stuffs for my work.

This is a 'feature' of the Realtek Sound Chip. Only the master record slider can be adjusted.

Microphone on my iMac: Mic on a wire does not work.

This is a question about the use of a line-in microphone on the iMac.
Recently I got MacJournal and made a few voice notes to people using the internal mic. It seems to work ok. I made and sent voice notes in email.
Then I checked the Systems Preferences > Sound and saw that there is an option of either that internal mic, with the little hole on the lower right corner of the monitor, OR a line-in mic using the audio line-in port.
I have the little microphone-on-a-wire that came with my iMac and decided to try out the line-in mid. I plugged it into that port which is farthest to the right if you are standing behind the iMac looking at the array of ports at the round white base. I also returned to Systems Preferences and Selected "Line-In" as the device for sound input.
Then I made, or thought I made, a voice note on MacJournal. Well, but no sound emanated from the file I had created.
Did I do everything right? Is that far-right hole the correct port the the microhone on a wire?

I'm not familiar with the iMac, and am too tired just at the moment to go Googling to see what connections are on the back of an iMac ..HOWEVER: 'Line-In' is not the same as 'Mic-In' ..and plugging a mic into a Line-In socket will give next to no sound, as the signal from the mic won't be "strong" enough to push its way down the Line-In connection.

..then Yes, that is the Line-In socket, and No, your mic won't work in there, sorry.
For best results, you'll need a USB device like a zzzz-zzzzz-zzzzzz

Mic in for Skpe connection not working

Hi all! I have just bought a Sennheiser PC111 headset so I can Skype. I'm using the line for the mic and have this configured on Skype and my system prefs. I can't get an input level at all, but I have ot. There are no drivers for this as it just works...

I receive compliments all the time using my Presonus TUBEPre pre-amp. I settled on the Heil PR-40 microphone ... but you don't need to spend that much for excellent results.
I also grabbed a Tung-Sol 12AX7 tube off of eBay to compare with the stock tube. It may be a little "warmer" - but the stock tube was just fine.

Mic on Audigy Plat/eX not work

Ok I am having a problem using my microsoft with the external device that attached to the audigy platinum Ex. The headphone jack works fine, but when I try using the microsoft it doesn't work. I have Line-in2/Mic2 enabled in the volume control and Microphone is disabled. This is because when I have Microsoft enabled I don't even hear anything when I speak into the mic. When Mic2 enabled, I do hear myself speak but hear nothing during playback. I would assume there is an easy way to fix this, but I haven't been able to so far. Please respond with any suggestions

Thank you for the reply. Here is the Manual for your HP Pavilion 15-e008sv Notebook PC. Please take a look at page 6 in Chapter 2. It gives you specifications for the Audio-out(headphone) jack/Audio-in(microphone) jack. It says to please NOTE: Be sure that the device cable has a 4-conductor connector that supports both audio-out (headphone) and audio-in (microphone). In the first document I had provided you, under Troubleshooting headsets it says that "Headsets with two jack connectors are only compatible with computers that have both a headphone and microphone port. If you have a computer that only has a headset port (which has a headset icon next to it), then your headset is not compatible with your computer." The Notebook that you have has a headset port only. Please look up the manufacturers specifications for the headset that you are trying to use, and see what types of devices they are compatible with. Have a great day!

IPad mic not working

I am using an iPad 2 3G, and the microphone seems to have stopped working. I have tried vaccuming/airblowing the mic, but it still will not work. I purchased an external mic that plugs into the headset jack, but it is useless when using Facetime as the iPad thinks there are headphones plugged in and the speaker does not work. I would like to able to Facetime using the speaker. Is there any way to get the regular mic working again, and/or an external mic that will allow me to use Facetime with the speaker?

We have upgraded our two iPad 2s to iOS 7. One is a 3G model and that just had static when recording video. Being iPad 2 if it was hardware it's out of warranty or an iOS7 software problem.
I would suggest you switch off and try the vacuum cleaner again - it worked for us :)

Mic for headphones (iphone4) will not work. When I use voice control, the lines are up and down (almost like there is some type of noise) even though I am not speaking into it. Speakers are working, whether it's from music or using the phone. I've tried turning the phone on/off and it still does not work. Not sure what else to do. I just recently bought these headphones approx 4-5 months ago.

There are three types of 3.5 mm headphone jacks - TS, TRS, and TRRS. Tip, Ring, Sleeve.

Currently the two parts closest to the cord (2nd Ring and Sleeve) are used for the microphone. Some vendors use the sleeve for the mic, and some use the ring.

Hi, I upgraded my laptop (Lenovo P400 touch) to windows 10. After the upgrade my skype is not working properly. I have installed the latest version of skype. For the web cam, go into device manager and see if the web cam is detected and if the driver is loaded. Check to see if it is disabled or has a yellow ! or red triangle.
