Mic only seems to record / playback audio in LEFT channel/speaker

when i record videos / audio with my phone, online playback only comes from the LEFT speaker.
ie:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=427597527682&ref=mf
this has occurred with every video.
anyone else having this?

i'm not talking about on the phone itself.
if i import the audio from something i record, it's only the left channel. not the split mono, as it should be,

  • Adobe Connect 9 Meeting Recording Playback & Audio

    Hello All,
I have noticed a strange issue with my meeting recording playbacks.
    First Adobe Connect 9.0.2
    Windows 7 Platform
I have noticed that after the recording is over, and I run playback to confirm we got what we need...the connected telephone feed (pgi/centurylink) does not come through on first press of play.
The video stream (slides, screen share) will run properly, but there is no sound upon first press of play. If I click the scrubber and drag it back to the open, then the audio will start to play.
I am ok with this work around...however my learners/audience will not be. I am looking for "Press Play and Listen" functionality to keep it simple.
A curious note (these are often good clues, so I figured I would share) The MP3 player pod which is running in the lobby prior to the start of the speaker, is PC sound and it plays back in the recording with no issue. It is only when the telephone feed starts (layout change, and speaker introduction) that the issue begins.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

As I understand it, it is on the road map for Adobe. Though I've not heard anything other than rumors, so more information would be hard to provide.
I don't know of any third party extensions, other than using something like Camtasia or another screen capture tool.

  • Stereo track is only showing audio in left channel in multitrack view

I have an echo Layla 3g soundcard.  Whenever I place a mic into the front input and try to record into AA, I can get a stereo recording BUT with audio only on the left channel. However, if I record using the edit view, I can get both channels (L and R) recordings ok (this is from the same mic input from the echo layla.  I have selected the correct drivers in the audio hardware set up.  Anybody else having this same problem?
    Quad core
    Windows 7
    4 gig RAM

With both Edit and Multitrack views, you get options to select what's going to happen in terms of recording behaviour, and they don't have to be set the same way.
With any input, you get options that typically say [01S] (stereo) or [01M] (mono). In Multitrack view,if you select a stereo input, but only plug a mic into one input, then any recording you make will only be on the channel that the input is connected to, and not the other one. If you select a mono input, then all you will do is patch that particular input to a mono recorded channel if you record in mono.
In Edit view it's slightly different. If you select a mono input, but then elect to make a stereo recording, that mono input will be patched across both mono channels.
If you only have one microphone to plug in, there's absolutely no point in making stereo, or dual mono recordings anyway. All you are doing is doubling up on the same information.

  • Stereo audio in left channel only.

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with one of my projects.
I have created a large number of "talking head" videos/projects. I export them to FLV using one of PREs default settings. For just one of these projects I get audio in the left channel only. All other clips are OK.
When I play the clips on the timeline the audio is perfect in both channels. So somewhere in the rendering/output process I loose the right channel.
    What am I missing here?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi and thanks for all input.
Yes I use a mono mic, but the camera puts the sound on both channels.
When I play the timeline I hear the voice in both channels.
The timeline audio track shows waveforms on both channels.
Here is a pic of the timeline:
The project is corrupt somehow. I just tried creating a new project with the same video files and made a short flv out of it and it comes out OK.
I will try to redo this one which leads me to another question which I will post in another thread if not already answered.
    Thanks for your input.

  • CAPTURE AUDIO MIXES LEFT CHANNEL TO MONO

Everytime I capture now, or batch, or capture a single logged clip, the stereo audio comes in as mono, using only the left channel. The right channel audio is lost.
I searched the postings, and found this was happening with a lot of people, not just FCP 5.1 HD, but with FCE, too. No resolution or fix as far as I could see.
Anyone know how to correct this major bug? I really need stereo audio!
    Thanks,
    Norris

After a lot of research, and NO help from calling Apple tech support, I finally determined this (which has to do with HD/1080i/60 only -- I am not sure about NTSC settings):
In the Clip Settings tab, in "Log and Capture" (in HD) there is a little box next to the simulated VU audio levels meters. Click that box. It should toggle on/off two little lines that combine audio channel 1 and audio channel 2. When the little lines are there, that is STEREO. WHen they are not, in my FCP 5, it mixes both tracks to mono from channel 2 (Left).
As for your other question -- yes, you can manually go into the logs and change the settings, and then recapture.
a pain this is, huh? And no written mention of it in any manual.
NOW - as for previewing the audio while logging and capturing? I still cannot do that and have been waiting two (2) weeks for a reply from an Apple tech support guy who was supposed to be researching this for me.

  • Soundcheck lowers audio in left channel.

So if you have soundcheck on it lowers the audio in the left channel in most tunes. I don't know why it would do this, you'd think it would be a bit more even of a distribution but it's heavy on the left channel. The only reason I have soundcheck on is I have various mp3s from widely different sources, and it can be annoying to be suddenly blast by a particually loud tune, and then barely hear the next one.
Soundcheck is too lopsided for me to use. Any solution besides soundcheck? Would MP3 Rage do the trick?

You can Reset the iPod, by pressing Menu and Center button simutaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple logo comes ON, then release it.
If this doesn't work, then the left channel audio electronics is leaking, which mean bringing it in to Apple Genius Bar or a 3rd party service center, if it is out of warranty.

  • Dv6000t no speaker audio, low left channel on headphones

    HP Pavillion dv6000t, running Vista
Out of the blue, I recently lost speaker audio entirely, and the headphone jack now only gives me the left channel, at a very very low barely audible volume.  Bizarre...
I've updated the BIOS, did all the Windows updates, etc., tried 12 different Conexant HD audio drivers, nothing works.  No change.  I'm thinking hardware issue at this point?
I don't want to trash this laptop but I need the speakers to be working!
    Help and new suggestions welcome!

Somebody?  Anybody?  Not even a hint?

  • IPod touch looses audio in left channel when cable moves

Whenever I slightly nudge any headphone cable up or to the left on my ipod touch the audio on the left channel completely goes silent. I sent my ipod touch in for a replacement, but Apple says they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I specifically told them what the problem is with this iPod and they neglected to listen to the customer's experience with the product, which I might add is still under the manufacturers warranty.
The audio is fine when the headphone cable is completely still, but whenever it moves slightly up or to the left with the tiniest nudge against my pants, finger, etc it looses audio in the left channel. Seeing how Apple fails to satisfy an angry customer, I will now turn to the forum as you are the last hope at saving this piece of garbage. Do you know of any fixes?
I worked hard to get this overpriced piece of junk and it craps out on me after a year. I will never by an Apple product again (seeing also how my other two ipod 5 generation videos both had hardware failure as well).

u have to get a new jack if u do not want it i will take it and get it fixed this has happend to me many times

  • ALSA: Recording Playback Audio with HDA-Intel

    Hello,
My alsa-info. I only use analog output.
Alsamixer looks like this: http://ompldr.org/vYmE4Mw http://ompldr.org/vYmE4NA
I would like to record audio which is being played back on my computer. I need it for recording of gameplay videos. I want to use only ALSA for this and want to avoid PulseAudio, if possible.
Recording audio playing on the computer with Alsamixer tells me that I should use the "Mix" control of the Capture device. However, HDA-Intel appears not to provide such a control.
Does anyone know how I can create such control? Or perhaps I can somehow fake a capture device, that in fact simply plays back the hw:0,0 playback device?
Perhaps the snd-aloop module is a solution.
I will now start reading about .asoundrc files but wanted to leave this question here, because I feel that I'm likely to fail in my search for knowledge.
    Cheers

I can't see a straightforward way to configure icecast to do this on the Arch Wiki.
I tried alsaloop, but it blocks devices when in use. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.
    alsaloop -C hw:0,0 -P hw:0,0 -t 10000
I'm not the first to have this problem (thread of 2010-05-22)
I managed to get play-to-file working but ffmpeg doesn't seem to be able to handle the raw output and I'd have to make "default" play to file, as most games don't allow to set what alsa device to use for sound.

  • NO AUDIO IN LEFT CHANNEL:What is the quickest/easiest way to troubleshoot?

Can someone tell me how to troubleshoot the left audio channel? No sound in speakers nor headphones no matter what the source. Could this have been caused by the case being recently opened for the hard drive replacement (by an Apple authorized shop)? Is this a common problem in older iMacs? I'm capable of some techie work (I have done PRAM battery replacement, etc). Tried restarting and no change. Any ideas, let 'em rip this way! Thanks GREG P>

YUP!! Just before I logged back in to withdraw this post!! It was nailed to the right, just like an old sound engineer I once knew. Brains workin' slow; another 'senior moment' I guess. Wonder why that happened but that's life in the digital world. THANKS, JEFF and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  • Premiere Elements 13 (not Pro), recorded a video with mono mic input (left channel only), need to create 2-channel (left and right) audio track for finished product. Help?

The question says it all. I have been all over the tutorials as well as the menus inside Premiere 13 and cannot find how to edit the audio track beyond basic balance, volume, etc.
I can see the Audio 1 track, shows audio in left channel only, but it will not respond to attempts to select, cut/copy, paste, etc.
Basically I just want to turn one-channel audio into two-channel audio.

Sure you do not want to give the Fill Left and Fill Right another try?
According to the Adobe document Adobe Premiere Elements Help | Effects reference
    Fill Left, Fill Right
The Fill Left effect duplicates the left channel information of the audio clip and places it in the right channel, discarding the original clip’s right channel information. The Fill Right effect duplicates the right channel information and places it in the left channel, discarding the existing left channel information. For example, you might use this effect on footage shot with a monaural microphone plugged into only one channel of a camcorder, extending the voice of a speaker from one channel to both.
From what you wrote, your Premiere Pro video seems to be saying the same.
If that Premiere Elements Fill Left or Fill Right is no go, you might want to explore what you can do in this regard using the free audio editor Audacity.
Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
And, then import the Audacity edited audio back into Premiere Elements project as source media.
    Is the speaker system OK?
We will be watching for your results.
    Thanks for the follow up.

  • Keynote Audio only left channel

Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?  I am using an M Audio Fastback USB input to record to Keynote and the audio is only recording to the left channel/speaker.  Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    System Properties >  Sound
in the output tab, select Fast Track USBand centre the Balance slider
in the input tab, select Fast Track USB and move the volume slider to the far right
Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup > M-Audio > Input;  set the master to the far right
The front panel controls affect analogue phono out connectors and the headphone jacks for monitoring, they do not control recording.

  • HT3659 My Soundtrack pro looses the mic on AJAKona.  It will appear as an input only after clicking on New audio file, then ok, Recording alert appears and then I have my AJA KONA3g back as an input option. loose it again if I change track

My Soundtrack pro looses the mic on AJAKona.  It will appear as an input only by clicking on New audio file, then ok,  and an Recording alert comes up.  But if I change track I loose the AJA again. How do I fix this?

Finally found the answer. The recording was done at 48, the audio/MIDI settings were set to 48, but the sampling setting on the export was not, causing everything else to break down. Once all three matched the export worked and the playback audio worked without opening the clip editing screen.
