I cannot get my Sennheiser PC50 mic to work with my audigy 4 sound card in games like CS: Source. No matter what plug I put the mic into it does not work with CS. I can record things in the the EAX console if I use line-in /MIC plug and I have to turn up the volume on the mic with the knob on the right side of the I/O hub. But cannot get it work in games. Anyone know what to do? This is driving me crazy because now I have an expensi've sound card that will not let me do simple things that onboard sound will let me do without any effort.
I beli've you mean this from Steampowerd.

Audigy 2 ZS Plat. Line-In 2 MIC prob
My mic won't work in the front panel (line-in 2) unless I go into surround mixer and change the "Rec" selection to Line-In 2/Mic 2. It randomly changes back to "microphone" all the time. I have to keep manually changing it back to line-in 2/mic 2 while I'm playing games or talking in ventrilo. Any way to fix this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.
I have this same problem in Counterstrike as does 00% of people who own an audigy 2 card and decide to use the Mic 2 input. This is more the blame of the game developers and not creative, other games such as UT2K4 that do support the mic 2 input I have no problem with. There is a homebrew application called mixerfixer that will switch input from Mic over to Mic 2 every X number of seconds that is user defined. This will cure the problem.hope this helped

Need help, sitting here pulling my hair out... Everything works perfect exept my mic, and yes i have done about all to fix it. I?ve disabled the onboard soundcard, and no the mic is not in mute. I?ve tryed about all the solutions i could find here on the forum. I?ve installed the latest drivers and so on and so on. Now the problem is that in start/settings/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/voice Voice recording the Advance button is gray, so cant get in to advance settings. Its worked like a charm before and now its just gone. I have done the Test hardware and it cant find the mic, and yes i have tested with other headsets just to c if my was broken (my headset Koss SB/45). I remember i had this broblem a long time ago, but i cant remember what i did to fix it. Think that time it was something in windows that was faulty, im going nuts here please need help.
thnx in advance...
btw im using Win XP ProMessage Edited by SuperSperm on 02-28-20060:26 AMUnfortunately, though it's as if the input hardware doesn't exist, the cause isn't clear. It might be the drivers, or it might be the hardware, or Idon'tknowwhatelse. One question: you said the "Test hardware" couldn't find the mic. What software did you run for that?
I have 4 suggestions from simplest to most radical.
. Check for IRQ conflicts
2. Reinstall the drivers.
3. Move the card to a different PCI slot.
4. Uninstall and reinstall the card and all Creative software (i.e., a cleansweep) with a bootup after uninstalling and removing the card before reinstalling. Use your original install CD for the reinstallation and make sure the card is working before installing any updates.
You can try & 2 fairly quickly. If I think of anything else, I'll post back.
SuperSperm wrote:
Nope, none of the other headsets worked. And yes ZS are set as default. And the buttun is not gray in Audio/ Sound playback. But its gray in Audio/ Sound recording to. I have a check in the box too.

I dont think inspection method text can be linked in any other way to Batch Characteristic.
Why dont you put inspection method text in batch characteristic itself? There is a "Documentation for description" in Basic data tab and upload a "Document" in Addnl data tab; you can use these feilds.

Just picked up an analog mic ,plugged it in to the correct port, last one on the right and no sound. Tested the mic on my laptop and it worked fine. Am I missing something here. Should be simple. Not a new install on the Soundblaster Li've 24bit , everything is working fine. Thanks SteveBefore that. Are other sounds being output correctly example playing back MP3 etc... Also check your Control Panel - Sound & Audio device. Ensure that the playback and voice are having the corrected sound card selected.

Built in mic issues. HELP!
i have a toshiba satellite M505 with windows vista home premium installed on it. had the computer for over a year but just now using the webcam. problem is that my built in mic wont work unless an external mic is plugged in
http://s116.photobucket.com/albums/o10/chrissyzajac/?action=view¤t=pntscrn.jpg
i have installed and reinstalled audio drivers. i am running realtek.
http://s116.photobucket.com/albums/o10/chrissyzajac/?action=view¤t=logitech.jpg
and there is no mic icon..
http://s116.photobucket.com/albums/o10/chrissyzajac/?action=view¤t=logitech.jpg#!oZZ1QQcurrent...
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!Without the USB mic plugged in:
First, in Device Manager, under 'Sound, video and game controllers' you will never see the internal microphone, because it is part of the Realtek sound controller/driver.
Second, when you click on the speaker icon in your tray, you will never see the internal microphone, because it is part of the Realtek sound controller/driver.
- But, when you click on the tray's speaker icon, and then you see: Device: Speaker, click on the speaker icon here, then you will get 'Speaker Properties', click on the 'Levels' tab at the top, do you see the Realtek Microphone level? Is it muted?
See the attachement, it's a MS-Word .doc file, just rename it and remove the .txt extension.

Mic & line in prob on p6n sli fi
Howdy folks. I have been reading the forum for awhile, but this is my 1st post. My specs to start with. I'll put them in my sig later.
p6n sli fi, intel 805, 2x512 wintec pc2-6400, ati x300 vid, antec sp400, wd 160 gig ide hdd, win xp home sp2. bios 2.0(01/31/07).
My prob is the mic in & line in for the onboard sound doesn't work. The speaker out sounds fine. Wouldn't be a prob, but I installed an ati video wonder 200 pvr card & I have to plug the line out from it to a line in on the sound card. I'm sure the audio out on the pvr is ok because I can hear it with headphones plugged into the line out from pvr. I am fairly knowledgeable about comps. I dl'ed the latest drivers from msi. I played with all adjustments in sound manager. Nothing's muted, volume levels checked. Am I overlooking something ? I can try a pci sound card, but would rather use the onboard. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to give all the info I could.
Thanks, vernThanks for the response. Sorry for the delay in getting back. I tried drivers from msi & ati. I've shelved the pvr project for awhile. Gonna work on some other things right now.
Thanks, Vern. -
Audigy SE Headset mic w/ speakers prob
<font face="verdana, geneva" color="#808080">My on board sound peaced out the other day, so I bought the Audigy SE sound card and I have sound now, but I use speakers to listen to my games and a headset for communication purposes only, not sound. I plugged the mic part of the headset into the mic slot, but no one could hear me on Ventrilo (s'what we use to talk) so I opened up the volume control for this program and unmuted the mic and it worked, but I heard myself?talking on the speakers. I couldn't find anything in the self-help guides about this. What should I do to make my mic not heard through MY speakers? Any help/ideas would be great!
relxe,
As the announcement at the top of each board details, the forum is for user interaction, not for Support. We monitor the forums, but don't guarantee a response to every thread.
As far as the question goes, blue connections are normally line in, not microphone (they're usually pink-ish). Did you try the other input? Plug it into the mic input and make sure the mixer is set correctly (particularly the red slider for recording source).

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and Ventrilo - Mic / Microphone Prob
Hello,
So I am using Ventrilo and everything is working fine.
I have set up Ventrilo to automatically detect when I am speaking.
It actually has a nice way of doing this, it has a monitor button which shows you numbers relating to how load you are talking into the mic.
This is useful as you can then see what background noise levels are, and set the voice detection above that.
And now we come to my problem:
The levels keep changing. Say in the morning, background levels might be 2 and when I speak it goes up to like 5, so I can set it at three and all is good.
Then for no reason nobody can hear me later that day, so I click monitor and background levels are like and when I speak it goes to about 40.
And this keeps changing throughout the day.
When I open up the Creative volume controls (or "Surround Mixer" ), the record settings on the right hand side are greyed out and I can't adjust it.
If I click the "default button" it stops being greyed out, but the "microphone option" isn't there.
If I use the windows volume controls, I can adjust the microphone levels however.
What I notice is that the windows microphone volume corresponds to the "hardware volume" control within Ventrilo Setup.
The other thing I notice, is when I click "Setup" within Ventrilo, then the recording control on the right hand side of the "Creative Surround Mixer" becomes greyed out again.
Any ideas? I can post Screenshots if needed...
Thanks in advance

Sound Blaster Live 24bit External (5.1) Mic-In / Line-In prob
Hey, here's my setup:
Virtual DJ Console Edition (3.4. updated)
Hercules MP3 Console
Creative Sound Blaster Li've 24bit external (5. card, using it as a 4. to get FRONT out to speakers and REAR as headphone queue)
I need to broadcast using Shoutcast (the VirtualDJ internal broadcasting plugin wont allow to set up full details that SHOUTcast plugin for Winamp allows you to fill in.... i.e. Yellow pages etc etc)
The problem is basically that when I'm using SHOUTcast for Winamp, it streams both my FRONT and REAR outputs, can't seem to choose for it to stream only FRONT...
Now, I know I can send the FRONT to Line-in (and use a stereo Y splitter to get the sound also to my speakers), but then it seems my Sound Blaster li've disables my Mic-In... seems that it has shared Line-In and Mic-In even though they are separate holes in the box....
so basically wondering if anyones got any suggestions as to how to be able to Broadcast only the FRONT output and use the Microphone... now it seems its either I can't use the Microphone when doing a radio show... or alternati'vely I can't use my headphone queue...
I don't understand why would the card have a separate Line-In and Mic-In, but you can't use the Mic-In if you have something hooked in the Line-In? Could there be some software or driver update I could get to be able to do this? Or am I just having forced to buy something like an M-Audio card thats exactly the same, but doesnt share the Mic and Line-ins but lets you use both at the same time?
Thanks for any suggestions! They are most welcome!at drivers?
IF you mean those third part yASIO drivers they limit to 6 bit recording whic hisn't an issue wuth Acid pro, it's the bandwith and asio offset. DO you ahve a link? -
Hi
A while ago I found a link in this forum (at least I think it was here) to a small application that checked the Mic-setting on regular intervalls and resetted it to whatever I had choosen if some illmannered application had changed it. This came in very handy since I, like so many others, want use the front connection on my Fatalty card.
After a reinstallation of XP the application got lost and I just can't find the link anymore.
If anyone knows what application it is please post a link so I can download it again.
RgdsAll,
I believe the thread you are looking for is here.

XtremeGamer Fatality Pro - Mic skipping/chopping prob
Hi,
Recently purchased the X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatalty Pro and I'm having a weird issue with the mic. Occasionally the microphone will begin to skip or chop, giving my voice a weird effect. It's usually resolved by changing modes back and forth or doing some random stuff in the sound mixer, although I haven't really found any solid solution. It will come back randomly after a few minutes, or several hours.
I tried the latest drivers, as well as the base drivers included with the cd, and both have the issue. Onboard sound is turned off. Using XP 64. Any ideas?hi i getting same problem but iam on vista 64 u found out a fixx?

[SOLVED] Mic does not work on Intel ICH8 (rev 3) sound card
Hi, folks.
I cannot get my sound card to record anything, using a built-in microphone. Audio output works just fine, though. I hope someone can help me, I have been banging my head against the wall for some time over this issue...
My laptop is Toshiba Satellite A200-1J0 (PSAE6E-04R036G3). alsamixer settings are fine, I tried supplementing additional options to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf, but no luck, tried some of the combinations (model=<> position_fix=<>).
When recording sound with gnome-sound-recorder, with Capture set as input, nothing is heard. Skype can't record anything, either. I can't even get the crackling or hissing sound like some users do.
Should I try to get the latest ALSA?

Last edited by teMplaryum (2010-01-26 10:15:18)Hi there!
I had the very same problem with the same soundcard and found this thread.
The problem got solved for me by adding the same line as you have to /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf.
However, I also had to create /etc/modprobe.d/sound.conf and add:
alias snd-card-0 snd-hda-intel
alias sound-slot-0 snd-hda-intel
options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba power_save=0
Notice the difference on the "model=toshiba" part.
However, my laptop is not a Toshiba, but a Compal IFL90.
I remember that in Ubuntu I needed(a long time ago) to add a line to /etc/alsa.conf with model=toshiba. I figured it might be worth a try, and well, it did.
I hope this can help someone else.
As for the OP: "You have my thanks!"

I do NOT like Adobe Reader opening with the right column expanded. Also in all previous versions I could save my login for protected pdf files and when I open them back up they require a login again. This is NOT how I want to work with Adobe Reader.
