  • How do I connect Monitor without HDMI (but DVI-D) to laptop with micro-HDMI?

I have a Samsung NP900x400D-A02US laptop... the video connections are:
    - a micro-HDMI
    - a "monitor port" (which the manual says supports 15 pin D-Sub interface.. or you can connect VGA adapter),
I would like to buy the Dell Ultrasharp u2412M which has 1900x1200 resolution.... BUT it does not have an HDMI port.  It has:
    - a display port
    - VGA input
    - DVI-D with HDCP Input
    - USB ports (but I don't think it's the kind that will allow me to hook up thge monitor to the laptop with USB)
How the heck do I connect the 2 of these... in a way that retains the 1900x1200 resolution?    if I can't find a good way I might have to find another monitor with HDMI....
Thanks so much for your help!   It's a bit frustrating to sort through it all....
    Kathryn

I ended up finding it by item #, because I would have missed it, too.  I wasn't sure if the product image was correct until I saw  this:
Connector on First End: 1 x HDMI (Micro Type D) Male Digital Audio/Video
You got it figured out. Hooks up exactly like you said. HDMI and DVI will result in same picture quality, but as you mentioned, HDMI doesn't carry audio. They are the same, for all intents and purposes, in all other regards.
The DVI cable should have thumbscrews on each end, to help secure it at each end. The Adapter I linked has 'receptors' for the thumb screws, so the connection will be secure. The monitor should have the same 'receptors' for thumb screws. The weakest point of the connection, physically, will be the Micro-HDMI, so just be careful to not put pressure on that connection.

  • Going from video card w/ micro hdmi & 2 dvi into monitor w/ 2 hdmi & 1 vga; ??

trying to determine which would give me the best resolution.  video card has 2 dvi and 1 micro hdmi outs; monitor has 2 regular hdmi and 1 vga.  would the micro hdmi to a regular hdmi work best or would a dvi to hdmi give better resolution.  getting conflicting answers and msi not answering phone today, thanks!
also can i go from 2 dvi into 1 or 2 hdmi to get better resolution?

Resolution is dependent on what your monitor (display device ) supports. It makes no difference which connector you use, as DVI and HDMI are both digital outputs

  • Lenovo K1 1304 Tablet - Micro HDMI to DVI No Signal

    Hi,
I'm having a problem here. I want to connect my Lenovo K1 tablet to a TV or monitor with DVI input using HDMI cable and HDMI to DVI Adapter. This should work perfectly fine since both hdmi and dvi are backwards compatible with each other and I've succesfully connected a different tablet like that before, yet I get no signal when trying to output a video from Lenovo K1 Tablet.
Micro HDMI output port on my K1 works fine since I can output signal to HDMI input on my TV but not to DVI input using HDMI to DVD Adapter and like I said this should work just fine.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks.

It doubt the adapter has to be HDCP "compliant", because it should just provide a mapping of pins/wires from HDMI to DVI, so any handshaking would occur between the endpoints (tablet and display device).  In case it helps, here's the pin mapping:
    http://pinouts.ru/VideoCables/hdmi_dvi_cable_pinout.shtml
There are some different flavors of DVI, such as DVI-D versus DVI-I, with single or dual links - is it possible that there is a mismatch between adapter, cable, and device?

could someone tell me which adapter micro HDMI to VGA is suitable for Nokia Lumia 2520 please?

Hi, melpa. Welcome to our community. There's no particular brand, but it should be HDMI-D. You may try checking the stores near your place for the price and availability.

  • Yoga micro-HDMI to Displayport options

I'd like to get video from a Yoga with micro-HDMI output (female) to a monitor with (normal) DisplayPort input (female).
I've looked around and there don't seem to be many good solutions for this. Aparently HDMI to DisplayPort is not possible without an active adapter? The best I've been able to come to is:
    1) Monoprice high speed micro HDMI (male) to HDMI (female)
    then
    2) Cable Matters HDMI (male) to DisplayPort Converter (female) - this plugs in USB for power
    then
    3) DisplayPort cable (male to male)
Are there any better solutions for this? That's $55+ just to get to DisplayPort. I also think the Cable matters converter will likely send at max 1080p signal.
    Thank you for your input(s).

What model of monitor is it, if it is a DP++ input it should be able to use a passive adapter but will be limited to I believe up to 1920x1200.

  • Where do you buy a lightning AV adapter and a HDMI to Micro-HDMI cable?

I need to connect my iphone 5s to the micovision projector.  I have read that I need a Lightning AV adapter and a HDMI to Micro-HDMI cable.  Where can this be purchased?

    Hi,
You'll actually need a DCU-60 or DCU-61 for your T707 phone. The DCU-10 is for some of our much old phones.

  • Mini or Micro HDMI?

Alright Im getting rather upset with Lenovo here. I just bought 2 mini HDMI cables because according to the Lenovo webpage (and every webpage I can find) the K1 uses a Mini HDMI port. It doesnt. I finally pulled out all my paperwork on my tablet & read through it until I found 1 place that said its actually a Micro HDMI port. Now why does Lenovo have it listed on the specs page online that its a Mini? Can anyone verify that this tablet takes a Micro HDMI because I've already wasted money on mini HDMI's I dont want to waste anymore!

  • Wifi / networking drops as soon as micro HDMI connected

I saw an earlier post similar to this, but it was closed without response by the original poster.
I have a Yoga 2 Pro with the most recent available network and graphics drivers.  Whenever I plug the micro HDMI in to a working monitor (in this case a micro HDMI to HDMI connector to an ASUS 27" monitor), the network connection drops.  As soon as I unplug the micro HDMI (from either end of the connection), the network connectivity is restored.

Really baffling.  While the HDMI cable is plugged in, none of the typical network actions fixes it:
    - Disable/renable the Wifi driver
    - Reboot
    - Uninstall/reinstall the Wifi driver
    - WIndows troubleshooter
    Any help appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Micro HDMI Cable

About $25 at Staples & the videos from the tablet look great on our large screen TV. Has anyone else tried it?

I hope to test tonight a 4 ft micro HDMI cable with a HDMI extender/coupler to a 30 ft HDMI cable to my Plasma TV.
Should work fine, but I am eager to get home now.

  • Micro hdmi question

My usb port has always been loose and have always had problems getting a good connection for charging but it's finally died. I'ver ordered a charging station but want to know if I can connect my Playbook to my pc using a micro hdmi cable like using a usb cable. Can I charge using the micro hdmi?

No -- that port is only for HDMI out.
You can use the magnetic rapid charger, which is a popular accessory PB users order to avoid wear and tear on the micro USB port.

  • Yoga 2 Pro + Windows 10 = External Monitor not working via micro HDMI

I upgraded to Windows 10 last week and everything was smooth.  Today when rebooting my system, the unit no longer can see my external display.  I have tried multiple other displays and none seem to work.  I have the latest video drivers for Win10 from the support site installed but it still doesn't work.  Any thoughts?

I had issues with extreme sluggisness of my Yoga 2 Pro when I connected my external HDMI monitor after upgrading to win 10. I disabled DPTF in the BIOS and all the issues went away immediately. I have not tested yet what the impact on my battery life will be. Regardless, this is something Lenovo really needs to fix in the driver! If you don't know how to access the BIOS, here is a good link: http://www.howtogeek.com/126016/three-ways-to-access-the-windows-8-boot-options-menu/

  • Yoga 3 pro : problem connecting to HD TV with micro/mini HDMI to HDMI

I purchased a YOGA 3 PRO (512GB) and couldn't be happier with how light and slim this jewel is. The CPU works fast and overall it's a gret UltraBook.
    BUT
I just can't connect my Yoga 3 Pro to my TV. I purchased this Ultra Book at BEST BUY (this model is apparently an "exclusive" of Best Buy), and since I knew i need to connect it to an external monitor to do real work on photoshop, I also purchased an INSIGNIA micro-HDMI to HDMI cable.
As shown below, my 32" HD TV (one of the latest models from LG / ref. 32LB5800) is recognized by Windows 8.1 and the INTEL HD Graphics 5300 Display driver (which i updated to the latest version 10.18.10.3960), but unfortunately the TV says "NO SIGNAL".
    Link to image
I've tried to connect the Insighnia mini-HDMI to HDMI cable in all 3 HDMI inputs on my TV, but same pathetic result. The first input is HDMI ARC, the second one is regular HDMI and the third one is for mobile devices (HDMI MHL), but all 3 returned the same "NO SIGNAL".
So I figured maybe it was the TV. Thus i plugged my Yoga 3 Pro to a Pioneer Plasma TV that was about 3-4 years old, straight to one of HDMI inputs and same thing, no image. However, Windows 8.1 found the TV and even suggests the ideal resolution.
In both cases the TV model was found by Windows 8.1 and shown under the "Screen Resolution" menu. I selected "Extend these displays" to use the TV as a main monitor, but of course this doesn't help the case.
So i started digging this forum and read a lot of coomplaints about the previous version of the YOGA PRO and that the micro-HDMI plug was poorly designed and the cable connector needed to be "trimmed" a little by 1mm or so to allow it plug fully into the port. So i tried that too, and even though i succesfully removed 1mm of rubber around my Insignia cable connector, it didn't help whatsoever since apparently, the new YOGA 3 PRO doesn't have this issue any longer, its design solved indeed that weakness of its predecessor.
So I'm asking: what the hell is the problem then? it's driving me crazy. I've literrally spent the past 6 hours trying to figure it out, but without any success. This forum has ZERO post about a problem of connection of a YOGA 3 PRO to an HDTV. I know it's a very recent model, but still, I can't believe to be the only one experiencing this issue.
If I don't find a solution quickly I'm afraid I'll have no other choice but to return it. It's unbelievable that both the latest iterations of the LENOVO YOGA PRO are having issues (likely different) connecting to an HD TV using the mini/micor HDMI port.
Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem, but LENOVO better get their act together and fix this stat!
UPDATE: i also noticed that when the cable is plugged into the micro-HDMI port, there's no more sound on the ultrabook. I played a video while the cable was plugged in and NO SOUND. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I would assume connecting the Yoga 3 Pro with the cable into the TV makes it believe that the sound shall be directed towards the TV now, hence the disabled sound on the Ultrabook, even though on the receiving side, the TV still doesn't get any signal from that cable, neither video nor audio.

well it turned out the culprit was the INSIGNIA Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable sold by Best Buy. I tried another cable brand and now it's working just fine! Go figure...

  • HDMI -Micro USB Cable

Would like to know if anybody purchased HDMI-Micro B USB cable and if it worked with HD TV.
    Thanks
    PJK Dublin

No, Clear_Blue_Lou is correct, that is a micro HDMI output connector on the bottom edge of the K1, and it has nothing to do with USB.  Here is the spec sheet: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/ww/pdf/ideapad_tablet_k1_datasheet.pdf
I think what he means by "touchy" is that several people have reported that the sturdiness of the connection is not all that great, and it tends to come loose.
UPDATE: I just realized the confusion might have been because the original poster forgot to specify K1 or A1 when he started this thread, but since only the K1 has the HDMI output, Clear_Blue_Lou and I were assuming K1.  It is true that the A1 has a miniUSB connector.
