Micro photo power probl

I'm unsure of what the issue is, but my microphoto has worked fine for the past 2 months, but last week it stopped working properly. This is what is happening: When plugged into the computer, the creative logo is displayed. But nothing else will work. When disconnected from the computer, its completely nonfunctional. Any help would be appreciated. I don't know what to do. Thanks much!

i've been browsing the forum all last night after being devastated that my microphot had the same problem. what i've gathered is that the harddisk was damaged or destroyed, usually by a fall. there seems to be no solution but to send it in to be repaired or replaced.

  • Micro Photo Firmware Probl

Hi Everyone!?I'm?in need of your help. I turned on my Zen Microphoto tonight and suddenly a message "firmware problem" shows up on my screen. I was talking to my brother, and he was calling me a noob because I never installed any firmware updates. He's been trying to fix the problem, but we've had no luck. We re-installed the CD and downloaded the newest Firmware but the computer won't detect the Zen in the first place, so we can't fix the problem. I'd appreciate any ideas you could give me. Thanks so much!

  • Micro Photo Question... power adapt

I was looking at the package contents or whatever for the micro photo and I noticed that a power adapter or ac adapter is not included... so does that mean I need to pay extra to get one? Thats a little ridiculous.

You can charge it on your computer with the USB cable that comes with it or you can buy an AC adaptor. One thing with the adaptor is that it charges a little faster.

  • Zen micro photo proble

ok so i've had my zen micro photo since last summer, which means that the creative lab crew wont help me since my purchase is over a year old. lame. well i had a minor 2 ft drop with my buddy, and it wont work. when i turn it on, it freezes on the "creative" screen. then when i get to the option window so i can attempt to clean it out, it wont work, i would like to say that it freezes also on all the options, but i cant really tell. those are i guess minor problems. i dont really know, but it also will occassionally make this odd "skipping" noise when i take the battery out and replace it so it will restart. this kid at Best Buy said that it has a small rotating disk on the inside and that it could of cracked or isnt on properly. but this is a drag. and you would think that i could just plug my baby into the computer with the USB cord, but now it wont even respond to the computer, or the computer wont recognize it. if you have any advice that would be swell.

i asked that same question because my zen micro broke no responded, but i did get a microphoto and have not had any problems yet.

  • Zen micro photo... biggggg probl

need help desperately! my micro photo won't turn on aprt from when i use the mains adapter. the battery is defiantely in and is fully charged because i charged the whole of last night, but when the mains adapter is in instead of having your green battery symbol in the top right hand corner theres just the plug symbol. basically it looks like it would if you plugged in your zen and took the battery out, suggesting its the battery but when i unplug it it stays on for about 6-7 seconds still without the battery symbol and then turns itself off?!!! it wont even work if i plug it into my pc! which really annoys me cus i want to put my new seasick steve album onto it but i cant!!! help!!!

Dude. My son just complained to me about the same thing. His zen photo micro would play normally and then shut off without warning after a few minutes. We ruled out it was his battery because luckily his original zen micro was handed down to his sister. We did the battery switch and sure enough, sister's kept going while his exhibited the same symptoms. We then had to believe it was either software or hardware. The least costliest thing to do was to go and reflash the firmware.
I went to Creative site and downloaded the latest version firmware and 5 minutes later, he is back up and running. Good luck.

  • Micro Photo Probl

My micro photo is stuck on the recovery screen and every option i pick just freezes it...when i clicked Reload Firmware it just sat with the "Erasing Firmware.." message up for hours. I tired to re-install the firmware from my computer and it fails every time. Help please...

I am also having the exact same problem. My dad got it for my son for xmas, xmas day it froze at the building library part. Toay, just over a week later it is frozen on the logo screen, making an odd noise.Reading previous threads this may denote a HDD failure!!!I have also tried reboot, format all, reload firmware and clean up. Always stops there. On the Zenmicrophoto I have there is no reset button. Whilst simultaniously?holding the switch at the on position and inserting the battery gets you to the rebot etc screen. I have had enough of this but worse is that my Dad paid a fortune for this and my son is without his present. Ok I can send it back, blah, blah, blah but when you pay out good cash you expect it to work.Anyway, sorry to go on but if anyone else out there has any other possible solutions then that would be fantastic.:manmad:

  • Zen Micro Photo 8gb have headphone jack probl

I am going to purchase a zen micro photo, but only if the headphone jack problem is fixed from the previous zen micro's. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks

I doubt that you'll get an *official* response to this as CL does not *officialy* have any problems with the headphone jacks on their units other than from *mishandling* or from a normal and small failure rate. As of now the official stance is that there's no problem to fix. Just keep checking back here. Looks like with the Micro the thread started jumping after about 3 months for the folks that purchased last January.
Mine's about a month old now with no problems.

  • Does the Zen Micro Photo 8GB have Jack Stick proble

As my title says, does the Zen Micro Photo 8GB have Jack Stick problems?
Some claims that Creative fixed this issue, and some claims that it still exists, does some of you have experienced problems with the ZMP?

Since there is no definiti've answer from Creative regarding this issue, I plan in the interim to keep my headphones plugged in as much as possible. My long term solution is to purchase (for approx $5.00) a 3.5 mm male/female headphone jack and use it as the sacrificial phone jack. This way I can remove my phones as much as I like. I am not going to take the chance. I think the long term solution is the way to go even if they fixed this problem. Over time the phone jack is going to loose some connectivity due to repetiti've use. This in turn creates an annoying audible noise picked up by your headphones. Just a thought.

Is there any way to look at picutres while listening to music?!?

No, the Microphoto cant do a picture slideshow to music. Its normal for the music to stop when you go into pictures; and it appears on every player. It could be updated in a new firmware.... we'll see.

  • Battery chargers for Micro Photo? Charging for the first ti

    Hello all--
Purchased a Micro Photo for Sister who is taking it to Baja - So no computer for charging.
Would like your imput on Aftermarket chargers, wall plug, car lighter and really about the battery packs that use 4 AA's for charging. Also any hints on charging for the first time, and using the lock button for better charging?
    TIA

Link: http://us.creative.com/products/cate...subcategory=57? and here: http://stores.ebay.com/Creative-Labs-Factory-Store?. When charging battery for the first time,I ordered a "Zen Micro Power Adapter" with the intention to use it for the fist time charging(of battery) to make sure it charged complety... But I didnt wait and went ahead and charged the MPhoto via usb/pc. I put it at 4.00pm went out to the mall with the intention to come back at 9.00pm but I came later than that(0.00) and the MP was fully charged(I beli've) it was like in a "stand by mode" with the screen blank.

  • Creative Micro Photo charging on a noteb

i've read something, i don't no where anymore, that you can't charge the Creative Micro Photo
on a notebook, because the usb-ports of a notebook or to weak for that, so you have to do that
    on a desktop-computer, is that true ?

    Hi,
No that should not be the case. Now thats not to say some manufacturers don't 'throttle' power usage when your laptop is not docked or mains powered to prolong battery life. But from a point of view of charging it shouldn't be an issue. As it takes approx 4 hours to charge a MPhoto chances are your laptops battery will not last through the full re-charge cycle anyway.
If you are looking at prolonged periods with out access to mains you'll probably find availing of the replacable battery facility and aspare battery or two fully charged before departure will be a much better option.
    Hope this hel

  • Zen Micro Photo H

My micro photo isn't being recognized by my computer I've followed all the steps in the troubleshooting and it still doesn't work. Currently my player has no power in it because it can not charge via USB. I try looking it up in the device manager or on My Computer and it doesn't show. What can I do? What can I do?

[size="">it's me again. am happy to report that i solved my problem - no thanks to lack of response to anyone at creai've. let me document my solution in the hope that it might help another unfortunate soul who might have to stay up late at night when they have to go to work 8am the next day.[size="">?[size="">it appears that my computer - a compaq 7ap90 has usb.* controller and apparently my 4gb zen microphoto needs a usb 2.0 controller. somewhere on the microsoft website it says that usb .x runs at 2mbps while usb 2.x runs at 480mbps - obviously the faster the better. my computer came with win98 and of course the creative software refused to install saying "it did not find a supported OS'! Ok mr creative - so as much as i love win98, i love my music more so i decided ok fine - i will load xp even though i hate it with all the popus and junk that follow it. afta loading xp, i installed creative software and connected my zen. XP complained that "a high speed usb device is connected to a non-high speed hub"! huh? hub? it turns out there is one - on the motherboard![size="">?[size="">the solution to this conumdrum is to load the big 266mb win xp service pack 2 which i only found out by accident afta googling it when i failed to locate it at the microsoft website. i am mad because i think the good folks at creative should include this documentation in their support litereature so people like me who buy their products do not have to stay up late to 4am figuring out abstruse whatever![size="">?[size="">anyway people - if your computer is older like mine, there is the solution. It is also very annoying that so many people have posted this problem here and yet it is notsignificantly highlighted to help newbies like me stop reinventing the wheel!!!!

  • Zen micro photo doesn't st

    Hi,
when i started my zen micro photo the logo creative appear and the screen didn't change anymore. I Try to shut it down but all the button aren't responding. I plug it to my computer nothing change. Then I remove the batterie now the screen is black and I can't start it.
    What should I do?

    Hey everyone,
For some strange reason, my MP3 player refuses to recover the music that I had on there ( at least 900 tracks with a few photos ). I've gone to Recovery Mode and cleaned it up three times. The first two times ended with a reboot to make sure everything would go along swimmingly.
However, before, my ZEN decided to freeze up on me so I had no choice but to remove the battery and let it re-build the library. After that, the infuriating "Low Battery" sign went on ( even after I let it charge for literally *hours* on end, but that's another problem ). I'm thinking that had something to do with my problem.
But here's the strange part: when I plug it in into my computer, it recognizes it, and the same amount of MB is still remaining, meaning, there is something in there but it's doesn't show up.
Sounds like your database is corruptor the dri've itself is failing & you'll need to format the drive to be able to use the player. Unfortunately you won't be able to recover what's on the player. If you have the wallcharger use it to charge the battery. If that battery is the battery is more than 3yrs. old I would recommend purchasing a new one as the life span is about to that limit. The MicroPhoto will run off AC power without a battery.

  • Zen Micro Photo Fre

I just purchased a Zen Micro Photo 8gb just over a month ago and the screen froze on me. I am not a computer saavy peson, so I have no idea what to do and customer service just gives you links to look it up yourself. Has anyone had this problem of the screen freeze and is there something that I need to do. Please help....

Try doing a disk clean up. Enter recovery mode by removing the battery and then holding the power switch in the on position while replacing the battery until the recovery screen appears. Then select disk clean up. After it is done with the disk clean up, select reboot. If that dosen't work you may have a defecti've player since it is still so new. If that is the case try returning it or if you can't return it, send it to Creative, and they will be able to replace it for you since it will still be under the warrenty.

  • Zen Micro Photo "Hardware Problem&qu

I have a Zen Micro Photo purchased back in Christmas of 2006, and now when I boot it up, an error comes up saying that there is a "Hardware Problem." I am not able to do anything when this message appears, so I tried to safe boot it by holding the power switch while inserting the battery. This has not worked, and because the MP3 player is not recognized when it is plugged in to my computer, I can not run the troubleshooting software.
I have emailed customer support and since it is out of warranty, they cannot do anything and recommended that I try here next. Has this happened to anyone before?

"Hardware Problem" on the Zen Micro series of players is generally indicati've of a disk problem (usually a crash.) Some people replace the disk dri'ves on the Micro themselves. Others have found that since the dri've uses a Compact Flash interface, they can install a CF card, up to 32GB, in lieu of a disk dri've to transform the player to a much higher capacity player using flash memory that will not be as vulnerable to damage as a disk dri've.
